There is absolutely nothing to this tiny little airport. It has only, like 3-4 terminals or so. I do agree with Briana M, though. Both times I've been here, it has been clean, the bathrooms were overly stocked with toilet paper, and the seats did not give me a weird feeling about using them...KUDOS!
Security was the least of my problems, and they allowed my boyfriends family to sit with us..that was pretty cool! -

Small place with a few gates - means in and out quick. 20 min from downtown. A couple food options and cool golf gift shop. Not bad San Antonio, not bad at all.Listed in: Because of Work..., San Antonio River Walk Tourist…

Get a clue. The construction is almost unbearable. Have these folks ever heard the term USER FRIENDLY?
Got off the plane- headed to meet my ride. Walked outside for quite awhile through a barricaded walkway to the far pick up lanes. Found out that my ride had the flu and I needed to take a taxi. There WAS NO easy way to get back in. I had to commence the long, sloped walk again. Good Grief! I am a 30 something person- and I found that lugging my bags and laptop was a huge pain. I cannot imagine the trouble that the elderly and motion challenged have. It was completely ridiculous! I asked an attendant if there was a quick way- he replied no. Nice to see the 5 people working sitting around and smoking... really helpful!
Every time I have been here security lines have been out the door. Today was no exception. No sorting of traveler type (frequent, parent with kids, etc) and only 3 lines in the AA, Continental and ?? Terminal.
When we flew out this AM- we ended up blocking all traffic in front of this Popsicle stand airport to get luggage out of the car. No reason for it except that things are horridly marked, have no additional room for maneuvering and the area was not lit.
What a joke. If O'hare is a more user friendly airport- you have issues.Listed in: Leavin' on a jet plane, San Antonio- for a meeting

Really guys?? This airport is great! It's super clean, just like its city, and has free wifi! Though the Starbucks inside skimped on the espresso in my latte they gave me an extra shot for free.
The security check was really fast (I don't think many people were traveling on Mother's Day) and every worker was pleasant. Maybe I'm just used to the brusque New York attitude I so frequently receive, but this place was truly a breath of fresh air. Especially compared to shit shows like the airport in Memphis or Newark.Listed in: Deep (In the Heart)

So I have to agree with the sub-mediocre reviews, as SA IA is not known for great places to hang out. Since I normally don't drive up to the airport just to hang, I will base my review solely on travel time and available flights. Kudos to the airport Nazi's that pat you down and scan you for deadly objects...the line is never more than a handful of people....nothing like the swarm of mindless travel droids that stop up flow of every major tourist destination with emphasis on the guy with the round black ears....just one...not all guys with black ears....
Lines move quickly and flights almost always leave on time...I deducted a star because all that damn construction just drives me nuts! -

This Christmas one of the cards on my mantle (well, I like to think it would be a mantle) was from the staff at the CO President's Lounge in Terminal 2. Nothing special except for the fact that it was hand written and addressed to me.
Yep, way too much time hanging out in SAT Terminal 2.
I can't write much about Terminal 1 except that this terminal has all the SWT flights and thus long lines and crappy parking. The options on how to waste all that time you have since TSA asks that you arrive pre-dawn for your evening flight are extended when compared to Terminal 2 however the real benefit of Terminal 2 is that with only two real airlines flying out of Terminal 2 the security line is rarely longer than 20 to 30 people.
Other than that, I mean its an airport...merely a yield on the road that you're traveling on not the destination. -

I try to be as fair and objective whenever I review. So I was surprised to see this airport getting an average review of 2 1/2 stars. While it has a few quirks, I find it no better or worse than most airports. For a truly bad 1 star airport try flying to Medicine Hat, Moose Jaw or Yellow Knife in Canada.
The shuttle bus from the daily parking area runs like clockwork and the pick up and drop off areas are serviceable. The only complaint I have is all of the terminal shops close so early.
A few years back I had to wait in the terminal for my young daughter to arrive. Her flight was delayed and I desperately needed something to read. It was only 7:00 pm on a Saturday and the terminal was a ghost town. I would understand this if I was in Hooterville or Bugtussle, but this is supposed to be an international airport.
I have tried to drive to the airport in Austin to see if it was any better. It may have been a little better but considering an extra 2 hour drive, not worth it. -

This airport sucks pretty hard. It's so small and they construction is so horrible. I have been nearly hit every time I go there. I mean, hello, look when you merge! I guess it's not entirely the drivers' fault. The baricades they set up allow you a good 15 feet before you have to merge.
The bathrooms could use a little work. Kinda old and dated. There isn't enough seating, so if you go at busy times you have to try and not get run over by all the people trying to line up for Southwest. There are numbers and groups so that you DON'T have to rush and crowd the doors. There are times when I get off the plane and am met by a flock of people standing there waiting to get on the plane I just got off of. They all look like angry paparazzi, minus the cameras.
Parking is also a nightmare for the economy lot. I have been there a few times during holidays or long weekends and it's full. Then you have to pay extra for the covered lot, but it's also crowded so you have to park on the roof. So much for covered parking.
The plus side is that there is free wi-fi and the parking shuttle is pretty fast and efficient, not to mention free. -

Review from Chi N.
k i give it 4 stars cuz of its service... yes its super slow but remember u are in tx and this is normal for them as they don't receive that much traffic to begin with... i can come here 30 minutes before boarding and still be ok to my gate!! typical pizza, mcdonalds, bbq store that sells rudy's bbq sauces and mixes!
checkin is quick (relatively) and customer service they always make sure u are ok (at least at continental they do)... being a frequent flier i was a lil annoyed they were not servicing me... but i let it go and checked myself in... but later at the gate the guy remembered me and actually came back up to us to make sure everything was ok! i thought there was great customer service there! rarely do u ever get that in ny!!! i sometimes even get my flights changed without any fee or hassle from them!!! never can get that free stuff in ny!!!
i think im starting to recognize the workers there cuz i fly here so often!!! =P -

The mornng rush sucks. In Terminal 1 at 6:30 a.m. the security line snakes many, many miles away - sometimes all the way back to the Southwest desk. There is a Northwest flight, a Delta flight, a Frontier flight and a couple of Southwest flights all leaving at the same time in the morning and it makes the line so long.
At other times, there is no line and it is cool. Alas, I do most of my travel on those morning flights. I have to get to the airport at 4 a.m. to avoid the other mindless drones.
Oh, and the Starbucks on the other side of security is always packed to the gills. Stand in one line, then move to the next line. That's all America is these days - lines. I feel like a Soviet waiting for toilet paper. -

I totally dig this place! I'm writing this review on their fast, FREE wifi, in a pleasant and sunny terminal with lots of quality food options: Starbucks, Quiznos, etc. Reminds me of the Albuquerque Sunport... *sigh of wistfulness*

I don't see what's all that wrong with this airport. It's not good or bad, really, and it's a hell of a lot better than that piece of crap Hobby in Houston. It has decent places to eat, it's not that ugly (I think they finished some of the construction), and it's really your only choice around here. I never had problems navigating it, though I don't like the passenger pickup areas; they seem to have a great potential for car accidents.

Kind of small, crammed... not a lot of space to hang out. They did have a Swatch store where I could find a watch band although the hipsters working inside weren't that interested in helping me (they seemed more entertained by watching people). That was about the highlight which doesn't say much.

It's a mess with construction right now. Otherwise it's an effective but average airport.

I hate how I have such a hard time navigating this dinosaur of an airport every time I come home...its 100 million times smaller than O'Hare, yet Chicago was easier and more pleasant to get around.
