As a happy new aunt, I want nothing more than to spoil my little niece.  Such is the case; Stinky Pants is the way to go.

The staff was unbelievably sweet and helpful.  The salesperson directed me to some beautiful sweaters that my sister swore would never be handed over to her mommy-to-be friends.  Sure the price is not walmart, but you can see it in the quality.

She also directed me to the very affordable baby-paper.  It's some kind of crinkly fleece that babies like.  I don't know why, but they do.

I have been in this store 2 or 3 times and have only been greeted with warm smiles. I am still pregnant with my 1st child so I haven't made any purchases yet but the staff has been very helpful and very friendly.
You can tell that the product they carry is higher quality, which in turn deserves a higher price tag.

I personally have never found a friendly staff that wanted to help me shop and find the items I need at Wal-Mart or Target.

I am going to have to disagree with the majority of reviews that I have seen written for Stinky Pants.

I've been spending way too much time on Armitage this summer.  I discovered this store by accident.  I take my little one and one of his old school mates to Old Town for art classes.   We decided to walk around after class when I spotted the cute mini merry go round in front.   I took both boys across the street so that they could have a cheap ride.  I then made the fatal mistake of looking in their window.

We were greeted warmly by the staff person on duty.  She had no airs about her despite the fact that I am tattooed and had 2 rugrats in tow.  She had no issue that both the boys wanted to touch and play with all of the toys, etc.   There were several customers in the store before us, but I think that she recognized that look on my face and knew that I was here to do business, not just browse.  She was very helpful in helping me search for sizes, offering suggestions and letting me know which items would soon be restocked.

I am one of those mothers that really doesn't give a damn about price tags.  If I love it and want it, I will buy it regardless of price.  I don't have any issue with spending a lot of money on my son's clothing and shoes.  Value is a personal perception.  Quality is another.  Working in retail as long as I have, I know that it shouldn't be assumed that children's clothing should be half the price of adult clothing just because it takes up less fabric.  I am always flabbergasted when I hear other parents talk about their expensive purchases, yet will only shop at places like Wal-Mart to purchase their kid's clothing.  Kids outgrow their clothing, so what?  Buy the item a size or 2 bigger so that you can put more use to it.  Quality pieces can also be saved as hand me downs, or kept as mementos.  I am not a fan of disposable clothing.

I loved their toy and clothing selections.  I found the coolest Ramones T-shirt and a rocking double layered "Roadie" T-shirt for my little one.  I also purchased a few inexpensive toys for my son and his friend to play with.  My only complaint, which was a blessing in disguise, is that they were out of many sizes in the items that I had wanted to purchase.

I love you Stinky pants!

Wow...harsh stuff.

Yeah, the staff act like they work on an Armitage boutique.  Oh well.  But I've never felt profiled, and believe me, I'm not a model-quality, expensive woman.

The clothes are really cool, and they're the type that wears like iron and isn't like every other Limited Too garment.  Like most children's boutiques, I don't rely on them heavily (cheap clothes, or hand-made stuff from my friends, but always expensive shoes...that's generally me).  Still, it's a terrific place for buying gifts or something a little different for my adorable little monsters.

Adorable concert t-shirts (babies in the Beatles Yellow Submarine? Why not!), frilly tutus, cute onesies and sparkly "my first heels" for the little diva in your life. This store is a great destination for gifts!

I love that they have the old-school quarter rides in front of the store. Make sure to bring 50 cents for the little merry-go-round if you bring your toddler.

i stopped by twice this week to get gifts for my nephew and niece.  i am so surprised by the bad reviews.  both times i came in, the girls at the counter were nothing but sweet and helpful.  i hate going into a store where the salespeople are right on top of you and pushy.  the girls at stinky pants were just the opposite. they let me know that if i needed help they would help me but let me shop on my own.  i plan on going back whenever i need a gift for a little one.

Dear Stinky Pants,

If you're going to sell 'adorable' little shirts for babies with metal band logos on them, how about acknowledging tattooed people who come into your store? My boyfriend and I stopped in here to look for some unique kids clothes, and were not spoken to, unlike the other two customers after us who were greeted upon entering.

Basically, the staff treated my boyfriend and I as if we were completely invisible (actually, they kind of looked at me like I was going to shoplift, so maybe I wasn't -entirely- invisible). Despite being heavily tattooed I was wearing a Betsey Johnson summer dress, carrying a Vivienne Westwood handbag, and holding shopping bags from M.A.C. and Kiehl's- so it's not as if I looked like I couldn't afford to purchase items there. We were tempted to buy some of the screened tees, but after the way the staff reacted to our presence, we decided not to bother.

The complete lack of customer service, the inflated prices for garments that are barely held together at the (bunched, badly-sewn) seams, are all reasons not to bother with this place.

I honestly hope this place goes out of business. If you're going to try and be cute and 'edgy' by selling rock band tees for babies, at least welcome the people who actually listen to those bands in the first place, even if they're not a Kate Spade bag carrying yuppy. Also, you can't take yourself so seriously when you name your store 'Stinky Pants', sorry.

Thanks for nothing! I won't be back, and I'll be sure to tell everyone I know not to bother stopping in, either.

The store is dark, and the sales associates chooses to say 'bye' when you're about to leave the store, rather than greet you when you walk in.  Sure they have somewhat of a selection of random toys and clothing for kids, but you can find better service and a larger selection at better prices elsewhere.  This ain't one of them.

The 3 stars is for the adorable, hip clothes they have here. Unfortunately, only the rich can afford to shop here, or someone just looking for a gift. But if you're a mom who is looking to go clothes shopping for their lil babe, and you are on a budget, just go down the street to the Second Child consignment.
Only a stire like this would be on Armitage, b/c every parent who can afford to live in this neighborhood can also afford to shop here. I would never pay 40.00 for a t-shirt for my 8 month old.

Overly pretentious staff- 1 star

AWFUL return policy- 1 star (I bought a gift for my girlfriend's baby boy and that night realized my other friends and I were going to go in on a larger gift.  I took the gift in the next day-- still wrapped in the original tissue paper, mind you, and the aforementioned overly pretentious staff looked at me like I was an idiot and said (imagine attitude here...) "Um, we only do store credit."  I said, oh really?  Even though I have a receipt, bought it yesterday, and haven't even taken it out of the bag??"  To which she replied, "It's indicated on the receipt."  No sorry, no nothin'.  So now, unfortunately, I have a $75 credit at a store that's less than stellar.  Ahhhh, well :).

Items- 1 star....Cute? You betcha.  But aren't ALL baby clothes cute?

If I didn't have to spend my credit, I wouldn't go back.

I found this gem on my way to Cafe Ba Ba Reeba one night. How can you not LOVE the styles in this shop!!!

It is pricey, but the selection, and quality is top notch!

How is this place still in business?  After all these negative reviews that I entirely agree with, how are their doors still open?  Very, very, VERY rude staff.  I am not a picky, needy shopper by any means, and these people turned me into a pissed-off maniac!  Seriously, avoid this Stinky Place!  Give your hard-earned money to someone else.

Screw this place.  If you want pretentious, go right ahead and shop away.  The staff is rude,  and does not pay attention to paying customers.  I wanted to buy a tee for my newborn nephew.  I wasn't greeted when I walked in with my girlfriend, but two other customers were after I was looking around.   It seems like they don't know how to treat a customer.  The owners need to re-hire.  Whoever worked there  on the earlier shift of july 11 2008 needs some serious customer service training.

Cute, yes, of course but that isn't too hard when everything is tiny.  This place may be 'designer' but the prices are way too high for the quality.  ($40-60 per article of clothing). The first shirt I purchased for my son was ruined after one wash.  The cheap screenprinting just peeled right off the front.  Should not happen for $50.  Plus, while I shopped two of the employees were loudly arguing over where this or that display should  be.  Not exactly a customer oriented environment.  Alas, I gave them another chance, and am equally as dissatisfied.  The shirts are made of a cheap, thin cotton that doesn't hold its shape after you pop it over his head.  The jeans are the correct size,  but have a poor cut that doesn't fit the shape of a baby...ie his baby 'greaser' jeans fit him like hammer pants.    I would rather shop at Target, waaaaaay more bang for my buck.  Well, any bang at all is an improvement.  Also, not stroller accessiible.
