it's been awhile, but based on my experience this place was fine, not like omg i gotta go here again.
my friend's older brother knew a bouncer dude here so we got in quick with a small cover fee. he was nice, so maybe he wasn't one of the penisheads some of the reviewers encountered.
i liked the layout. feels open and airy with 3 levels, i like seeing people dancing where they're standing and not just on a designated dance floor.
i went upstairs and saw top chef contestant brian malarkey. ohhhh celebrity, haha.
the music was off. some of the stuff the dj played wasn't even danceable, saw some faces that made a "wtheck?" look, including me.
We went there for a Friday evening. We heard the music and dancing were good and since we just moved here from LA figured we would give it a go. Upon arriving we had to figure out which line lets the plebeians in. Its not the front door where the signs are... its actually the side door to the right of the front door, which had we been cool enough perhaps one of the bouncers would have been kind enough told us instead of ignoring us, we might have found it sooner. Alas Stingaree is more about looking exclusive than making the majority of its patrons welcome. Well we finally made it in for a cover fee of 20 each. (I would have been fine with this if the night had been fun and the DJ good but alas that was not to be.)
So we get there and we grab drinks, not so bad, and start exploring. the first floor dance space is packed with little room for dancing and lots of VIP table space. There are corners and walls everywhere making the dance space awkward and often turning it in to a top 40 mosh pit. I was bumped jostled and grinded almost the whole night by total strangers. The upstairs was more empty and had the same music but when you're not VIP you can't go up there so we moved to the third floor which had more VIP space and a lounge area with crappy lounge music.
Overall there is so much space dedicated to VIP space that it is not fun. You are forced into a tiny awkward space and constantly given dirty looks by other patrons stuck in a similar situation. Perhaps the night could have been saved had at least the music been good but we ended up with DJ ADD who switched songs every 30 seconds or so only playing the chours and ranging from Big Pimpin' by BIGGIE to Red Hot Chilli Peppers Californication. It didn't really make much sense and made it difficult to get into a dance groove. I felt that the DJ was catering to the bro's of the world who want to be cool with Hip Hop but only know the chorus lyrics.
So this was a bad night I don't recommend it at all. Save your money for a place with a decent sized dance floor and a DJ that knows how to spin songs.
One saving grace was the Bartender James he at least knows how to serve the clientele efficiently.
My friends and I went here for our friend's birthday party. His sister was able to work her magic and get $100 off bottle service. We arrived and the place looks nice. We got VIP stamps on our wrists and they directed us to the VIP booth on the 2nd floor.
She selected 5 types of bottle - all I remember was Grey Goose, another type of Vodka, and gin. The bartenders started bringing the bottles, mixers, ice, glasses, and whatever else was needed for our drinks. The female bartenders just scooped some ice in each glass and pour a random amount of vodka in several glasses. Then she asked us what we wanted and poured either cranberry or pineapple juice. I asked for just cranberry juice and she still poured vodka. *sigh*
There's 3 levels. The first floor and second floor had dancing but the 2nd floor was limited to VIP. The first floor had gogo dancers. The third floor was chill and more of a lounge. I liked the fireplaces. But OMG - sausage fest. There was a mixed crowd.
I asked our bartender if we could get more water and she had to check if we were at limit. Um, why can't you just give us a carafe like the cranberry or orange juice?
The DJ is okay. I wasn't really impressed with his abilities and there were moments where I was like - WTF are you playing?
I did not like how the doors to the bathrooms are open for all to see. That's weird. I don't want to walk by and see men using the urinals. Gross.
The funniest moment was when two gay guys got into a "fight" and brought it into the girl's bathroom. I wasn't scared and found it humorous with all the girls' screaming around. The guys weren't even fighting - they were just hugging each other really tight and fell to the ground type of fighting. The bouncers did handle it and took the guys out quickly.
Even though we were VIP, I didn't feel like I was a VIP. But the most important thing was the birthday boy had fun.
Girlfriend took me to dinner for my Birthday a few years back... the food was good......I had the Lamb... She has the Halibit
I had been there numerous times to go clubbing... but never for dinner.... I recommend the Resteraunt... it's very good! They even brought me a mini Birthday cake and sang to me (Shoot me now)
Something you'd expect at a regular resteraunt... not this place...
anyway.. we headed up stairs for drinks and mingleing........we met some guys and let them get us wasted.....it was fun!
I always have fun here!
I had FUN!
Don't go for the club, go for the food! Dinner here is wonderful and it brings in a classier group than the club does. It's French-fusion, kinda heavy but very tasty and filling. The service in the restaurant is great too. It's a little pricey for San Diego, not anymore expensive than other places I've eaten at in the area. Sting definitely has better food quality and service than other boutique restaurants in the area (ahem, Quarter Kitchen). Wednesdays and Thursday are better times to go than Fridays or Sats.
We wanted to make a fun night out for our friend's birthday. It was a toal let down.
The menu is limited and very over priced for low quality food. Our waitor was an arrogant douche. There are only about 10 items on the menu and he wasn't able to answer my question about one of the items. He took 20 minutes to give us our bill, but I guess that's what happens when you are charged auto gratuity.
The club was even worse. The roof top lounge has horrible bar service. Satelite bars did not have running water. Which would be perfect if I wanted a $12 vodka tonic using luke warm bottled water.
The dance floor was over crowded and the DJ's mix was schizophrenic, changing every 60 seconds. If I enjoyed dancing with random men's hard-on's it wouldn't have been so bad.
A party bus for my friend's birthday dropped us off at the front of Stingaree. The night I went was a really busy and hectic night because the Phoenix Suns and Jamie Foxx were due to make an appearance. I fortunately didn't have to wait in line to get in because it was my friend's birthday, and she had reservations for us. Besides how packed it was, the venue was nice.
It was three stories (including the rooftop). The bars were really busy, and it was very hard to get drinks. The music on the roof top was too quiet though, it sounded very mute compared to the music downstairs.
I wish It wasn't so crowded, but I did see Jamie Foxx so that was a plus! He was handsome :) :)
I'm not really in the San Diego area that often, I MIGHT consider coming back here, but honestly it wasn't anything too memorable for me.
Sting is probably one of the hottest looking bars in the Gaslamp.
It feels and looks Vegas-y.
Bring your A-game cash and A-game clothes.... Bottle service anyone?
This is also the nightclub where Shawne Merriman supposedly got into his fight with Tila Tequila.
Fun place to get yer freak on and dance the night away...My favorite part about this club is the rooftop bar. It's filled with lounge seating and there are fireplaces to get cozy by.
The drinks are too expensive but that's kinda what yer signing up for by going to a club like this.. the wait staff was OK... good service from the female bartenders and shitty from the male staff (also expected)
I would recommended getting a table or getting some type of hook-up cause there is always a line. Luckily for us we went with 4 girls so we got right in. My roommate and I only had to pay half of the cover.
so for San Diego, this isn't a bad choice to go for some club loving.
Would you try to talk to a girl who was surrounded by 3 guys?? I would the think the 3 guys would be a total deterrent, but apparently not. I was sitting down, talking to my guy friends when I happened to look towards my right. A guy smiled at me and did the little eye brow raise. I look away but then I registered what just happened and looked back....another smile. Mr. Smiley and his friend walked by and he smiled at me again. Then Mr. Friend happened to stand at the bar in front of me, and Mr. Smiley walks back to him and just stands there in front of me. Mr. Smiley was tall and cute, and I couldn't make up my mind to get up and talk to him...not enough liquid courage in me yet. I was on vacation in SD, so what the hell....down the drink and go talk to him, right? By the time that thought went through my mind, I couldn't find Mr. Smiley anymore...I waited too long and he left!!! *sigh*
***
Stingaree reminds me of a Vegas-/LA-ish type club. We didn't do our research, so we didn't put ourselves on the guestlist and had to pay $20 to get in. I'm a girl...I don't pay to get into clubs!!!!! But I'm glad I did pay because it was the happening spot to be in the Gaslamp.
There's 3 levels to this place, and we spent most of our time on the roof. The 2nd level looked like it was a VIP section, and the 1st level was where the dance floor was. It was too crowded, so we just hung out upstairs. From the 2nd level, you can watch the go-go dancers below( http://static.px.yelp.... ). I don't swing that way, but I must say, those girls were pretty HOT!
I would've given this place more stars if it wasn't for all the douchy guys wearing Ed Hardy t-shrits. When I was sitting down next to a random girl, this guy taps me on the arm, and motions with his hand for me to move over so he can talk to that girl. WTF? Can you not speak???? I should've accidentally poured my drink on him!
This place is definately A-ok. Nothing too special. Their DJ's are pretty good on occasion. The only drawback for me is the lines, and the small ass dancefloor downstairs. Can Stingaree please move the VIP ropes back and let the people dance !? Thats all I ask...
Also, this venue has no handicap accessibility at all! Management needs to do something about that. Pretty mainstream music, and up the wall costs for shots. The only plus is the crowd, you cannot find these type of people in one place in SD. I love the upscale-ness of this club. The rooftop is also pretty busy and fun! Good times at Sting overall.
Okay, so I would say that this place would get 2.5 stars, mebbe 3 stars typically. However, during my brief Halloween night visit, two things really tickled my fancy. (1) Playing into TrueBlood, my new fave closeted obsession, and renaming the bar "Fangtasia". Giggles all around. And (2), given my DD status of the evening, I appreciated that they allowed me to get a glass of water instead of forcing me to pay for ridiculous bottled voss stuff. I always love a club that doesn't force its patrons to buy water!
Very naaaice (c) Borat.
1st of all, I DO NOT like techno music. Save that stuff for video games, not on the dance floor! Like my friend Chris "Cebo" V. said, the songs change every few seconds or so. What the f*(# kind of DJ does that? I swear that shit went from country, to techno, to rap, to rock, to reggae, and back to country in less than a minute? I want to get my boogie on, not a brain tumor!
These 4 stars right here are for the club itself. Its hella classy up in here with a Vegas type of atmosphere. I would say that this club along with the Ivy has some of the best looking people. So if you wanna get your Craig Mack on, you better have your A game or be prepared to get shot down.
Theres 3 (or 4?) levels to this place with a bar on every floor. Drinks are hella expensive BTW, so try to get as drunk as possible before gettin in. I think theres an elevator but I took the stairs. I spent most of my time chillin all the way on the rooftop outdoors. Really really nice. Looks like something you would see from a Laguna Beach episode...Cabanas and all...Come up for a breath of fresh air...And the go go dancers!
What On Broadway is to Asians, Stingaree is to white people. The pictures here clearly speak for themselves.
I did not go to Stingaree for its nightlife. Instead, I was interested in dinner. In most other metropolitan areas, there would have been huge dinner rush on a Friday night. During Resaurant Week, reservations would have to be made weeks in advance. However, a table at 6:00 on a Friday was pretty ideal. The restaurant was almost completely empty. As a result, the service was great. To be honest, the decor alone is worth the price of dinner.
Try their Pork Belly appetizer. It's served with a spicy bean salad that works really well together.
Stingaree also has a number of great mixed drinks on the menu.
The reason I'm only giving this 3 stars: They insisted that we adhere to a dress code only to seat us next to the DJs they had hired for the night who were wearing baggy t shirsts, shorts and sneakers (all three things their dress code supposedly prohibits)- WTF?
Here's a tip:
Song changes about every 42 seconds here! So you better hurry up and do that dance you have been waiting all night to do! (Stanky leg, Jerk dance, butterfly, electric slide, ocho ocho?)

Stingaree reminds me a lot of club PURE in Caesars palace.
Lets break it down shall we:

Pretty crackin' if you get the table service on the rooftop terrace.
Though the speakers up there were as good as my computer speakers, at best.
Table service was pretty pricey, but if you factor in:
1. no waiting in line
2. you get drinks right away obviously
3. you don't have to pay cover (at least $X per person right there)
4. you are practically guaranteed a seat
5. LESS DOUCHE BAGS TO WORRY ABOUT
blah blah blah. i've been here a few times sine it opened and it just does not get any better. the only reason my friends and i came here this past saturday was b.c our other friend was celebrating her quarter-life crisis. 10 bucks to get in even when you are on the guestlist, lame! what's the freakin point of calling that a guestlist??? 20 bucks for a whiskey ginger and vodka something at the bar next to the dance floor, expected. 36 bucks for two whiskey gingers and a vodka something at the bar on the roof?! why raise the price two bucks? b.c we climbed up two flights of stairs?! i highly doubt i'm coming back here again, even if it's a friend's bday celebration, imma make them change the venue. there are much better spots in downtown that you can shake your booty to for a cheaper price/free and cheaper drinks!
Not bad for San Diego, not bad at all. It was a mixed crowd, people dressed up - it felt like an afterwork mixer with so many button up long sleeve shirts I saw. Drinks were decent priced and they were strong. There is a rooftop patio with extra bars in case you want to get another drink. I'm not much of a smoke on the street kind of girl.
Dancefloor is very very tiny. I advise to drop some elbows if you want to cut some rugs up.
The staff at this place have so much 'tude, I wondered if they'd all hit their heads, passed out, woke up and thought they were in a real city. Seriously. Someone needs to inform them that their club is located in San Diego, not LA, not NYC.
That being said, I've been there twice and both times it's been so crowded it was impossible to move, let alone dance. The music was nothing special. Add to that the velvet rope mentality which includes a pricey cover and drinks hovering in the $12.00 zone and it's just not worth it. I certainly don't mind spending money for a good time, but this generic experience could be had for a lot less pretty much anywhere.
Awesome place, good vibe, dance floor on the bottom was packed with beautiful women , dancing having a good time. everyone was friendly, no one stuck up. we got bottle service. no one in our party was talking about how do u get upstairs? lol The weirdest thing we met muhammed ali's nephew when we went baclk to the hard rock hotel.
I came here for USD's grad night and it was fun yet incredibly packed. They sold about 800 pre-sale tickets and more people were at the door waiting to pay!
I feel the drinks were decently priced, but I have a suspicion they were lowered...$11 for 2 draft beers is pretty damn cheap for Downtown. Are they always this price???
Anyway, the place is pretty nice, although the venue seemed so tiny with all the crazy drunk people galavanting all over the place. It took me a good 25 minutes to be able to locate my friends....we were in a texting frenzy trying to find each other.
Of course the rooftop was probably past max capacity with all guys ogling the hot go go dancers. I can't blame them....they were really hot and in skimpy clothes. The only bad thing about the hot girls was that you couldn't move an inch, just trying to walk across the roof to reach the stairs took forever!
A major down point for Stingaree is how hot it gets. It was so hot from everyone dancing, that you couldn't even catch a breather when you went outside to the roof.
The second and third floor were reserved for USD people only. I had never even seen most of these people on campus. I was especially surprised at seeing all the guys....where we they when I was looking for a boyfriend??? But then I remembered they are mostly d-bags with an over inflated ego thanks to the 2:1 girl to guy ratio.
A personal low point was when a white girl flirted with my date right in front of me. I was ready to go all ghetto on her and slap a ho.
I was tempted to take off my scrunchie and press ons like on Brooke Valentine's Girlfight (http://www.youtube.com...) but I didn't have a scrunchie and my nails were real.
It would have been fun but I am a proverbial pacifist and luckily, he ignored her.
Take that white sorority girl! :P
I hate the club scene. I mean I cant fucking stand it. But when I got invited to take a limo here, skip the line, chill in a private room here with bottle service, I figured why not. At least I wouldn't have to deal with most of the bullshit that goes along with a night at the club.
So here's what I took in while observing from my balcony...
+Good to see they kept some fools outside. It wasn't too crowded.
+Clean
+Plenty of fine-ass tail running around
++Restroom attendant was one cool ass motherfucker. Why he had a bottle of Tapatio and a banana hanging around in addition to the mints and colognes, I'll never know.
-$12 drinks. Lame. I know this is common in the gaslamp, but there's still no fucking excuse for it.
-Snotty bitches. Seriously. Even the ugly ones think their shit dont stink.
-Cage dancer had a couple extra lbs in the midsection. \
-Hot as a motherfucker in there. I know you guys can afford some AC.
Bottom Line: Your typical upscale nightclub. My advice, hang somewhere more down to earth and then come here to pick up the drunken snotty bitches as they pour out at closing time.
I haven't frequented Stingaree, but my most memorable night was a birthday trip to see DJ Z-Trip...and from that, 4 stars yo.
Perhaps it was one of those perfect-night scenarios: everybody on my guest list got in with no cover, the place wasn't packed, and nobody in the club seemed to be in the mood to be a douche. My group split up to explore, and we all eventually found our niche in the venue - mine happened to be the rooftop area with some cheesy but expected decor. As luck would have it, we all reconvened instantaneously at the start of Z's set and rocked our faces off.
Stingaree is big enough to get your dance on with some different groups of people, but small enough not to feel like you're in a maze and would perish in a dark corner if you wander off from the pack. Lovin it!
Although this place is exquisite looking, the music on the particular evening we decided to venture here sucked.
The club is a bit small and the top VIP area is overrated.
Be sure to come early because it gets packed! If you're with a group of all beautiful girls, you are likely going to get pulled to the front [unfair for those who have been waiting but it happens].
Stingaree meets all my clubbin' expectations and them some. We had a grand old time here and this is why:
Chic/posh ambiance in the gas lamp district of SD
3 floors + awesome rooftop overlooking downtown SD
Rollin' deep with my sexy entourage of 12+ ladies and gents
$10 cover for guys, $5 for girls only because this random party promotoer/party bus driver hooked us up after our long wait in line
Getting my PYT on with the DJ's tribute mix to Michael Jackson from the 80s-90s - "I wanna rock with you all niiiight" RIP MJ!
Ultimate 90s hip hop battle remix with tupac/west coast & biggie/east coast rap = ghetto fab!
Daft punk ONE MORE TIME extended version **unz unz unz**
Although it was good times here, there were a few cons:
LONG ASS LINES if you are not on the glist or hooked up by the random party bus driver who approached us or if u didn't bribe the bouncer
SUPER CROWDED everywhere, especially on the rooftop where everyone is getting some fresh air (this was probably due to 4th of july weekend and the fashion show though)
Typical over-priced alcohol for clubs
Too many random couples hooking up on the dance floor next to our entourage getting our groove on! Get a room people!
This place actually surprised me. A lot. I had been here once previously, but that was for a corporate event, so while I got to see what the place looked like, I didn't really get a feel for the club nightlife. Then I started hearing negative reviews - a lot of them. That made me real wary to return, so I put it off for a long while.
I finally went again this past weekend, and wow. Wow, was that fun. Given, a big part of how much fun you have at a given club is who you're with, and the people I went with were a blast, but the club was absolutely stunning. Even with a rather long line, they were letting people in pretty quickly - too many times have I been at a place that loves to have people just stand outside to make their club look better. They have a coat check as soon as you get in the door, for those who choose to suit up, and cover was $20.
The bottom floor was packed with people, but the bar was still pretty easy to get to, and the bartenders were fast to pour. Going up the stairs to the second story, it was a bit empty, but still a decent crowd around the other bar. Further up the stairs to the rooftop gives a great view of the city, with nice areas to sit around, fountains and fireplaces...just a stunning ambiance. We stuck around upstairs for a while, visited that bar and listened to a live guitarist playing alongside a DJ's hip hop, a very interesting combination.
When we ventured back downstairs to dance, we found a live rapper was performing on the second floor, and he was definitely getting the crowd going. This is definitely one of the best clubs I've been to in San Diego.
I recently moved to San Diego from Las Vegas. I am a frequent clubber and go out six to seven days a week.
As always, I got right in VIP stamped and paid no cover or tip to the door guy.
Stingaree is overrated. A lot of these posts say Sting is vegas style. I don't know what clubs they went to in vegas to experience such an amateur experience. If by vegas style, they mean... serves alcohol and got wasted like that one time in vegas.. then sure. it's vegas style... I would compare Sting to a circle bar in a vegas casino.
Although there are three floors, the venue is pretty small. The dance floor is packed so tight dancing is very difficult. Forget about getting to the bar next to the dance floor. There are 5 bars throughout the three floors, they are under staffed. It's best to order two drinks at a time, one for now and one for later. The dress code is too relaxed for my taste. Who wears sneakers to the club!?!? The guy/girl ratio is broken. The go-go dancers are sub par. Sure they can dance, but they are not paid to dance.
I don't drink alcohol that often, and the bars serve ice water for free. kudos for that! always tip your bartenders...even for free water!
Voyeur is a better clubbing experience.
One of those clubs where everyone goes. And where the staff maintains their coolness by judging yours.
The music on the different floors is pretty good, except dance space is impossible to find.
I was reminded of how often drinks get spilled, especially on you, when you venture to such a happening club as Stingaree. At one point, a long island (glass and all) fell from the second floor and all the masses below enjoyed the sharp sticky liquid and ice.
Being in the bottle service section is definitely more comfortable, especially for dancing. And the velvet rope surrounding the area acts as a magic force field from riff raff and drunk lechery. Sit very comfortably from your table and watch old men stare at you from the other side of the boundary.....Vigilant bouncers guarantee that none of them dare cross over.
Planned Bachelorette Party for my best friend but with most of us girls being from LA and the Bachelorette living in Diego, I trusted some good friends who had recently partied @ Stingaree!
In my research I found good reviews of Stingaree and their website was easy to navigate. I did have a hard time reaching the VIP/Bottle service line. Their office hours didn't make it easy for me to reach them and there was some phone tag involved but once I was able to talk to someone they we're very helpful and professional. I had ordered bottle service and the Stingaree Limo to pick us up at our hotel.
The night of our party, the Limo driver was very punctual and called ahead as Katy, the VIP coordinator, said he would. Chuck, our driver, was professional and even asked when he called if there would be any delay on our departure. I greatly appreciated that he asked and though we ladies were surprisingly on time, I didn't feel rushed or that he was in a hurry. He was even nice enough to take our picture in front of the limo and help us into the Hummer Limo. The Limo was clean and looked great with the party lights inside.
Once we arrived at the club the security, doormen, and VIP coordinators we're really nice. Our cabana was nice in that it was at the rooftop with a heatlamp located right in front of us and one of their firepits located close by. They had a bartender coming around mixing free shots for each cabana and they were good shots made with alcohol that was from our bottle service. The waitress also made our party shots at the beginning of the night. We didn't see our two waitresses too much after that but the waiters were over often asking if we needed anything, refilling our mixers, and clearing our table of dirty/empty glasses. My only complaint about our cabana and I told a couple of the wait staff, even our waitress, was that when we arrived we could smell vomit. It was not from anyone in our party that's for sure especially not that early in the night. I told the waitress after I closed the tab at the end of the night as it didn't seem like anyone else we mentioned it to even looked into it or told her about our complaint. She gave me an excuse but I was too buzzed by then to care, just told her that they should just make sure that they locate to smell and clean it up, so the next party won't have the same issue.
I was glad that Stingaree's security seemed to always be walking around because we had two incidents where cheap and shady guys tried to help themselves to our drinks. So ladies if you are planning to have a girls night out and have bottle service BEWARE of these guys. The first incident occurred and I caught one of the guys trying to help himself to one of our bottles as we tried to get his friend away from us. After I told the guy trying to get drinks "No" and Get out, he tried sweet talking! These guys tried a couple more times to get girls in our party and I finally told them not so kindly that they needed to go away. After a few exchanges of words, I spotted security and told him to get these guys away. The second incident occurred when one of the girls sitting at the end of the cabana noticed that a guy who obviously notice she wasn't interested in him, tried to leave with a red bull that he thought she didn't notice him open. Its just a Red Bull but its the principle. So be careful ladies! I never experienced these kind of guys up in LA.
With drinks flowing, the bachelorette and the rest of the ladies at our party had a good time! The DJ that night was good and most of the music he played we got our groove on to. He played a mix of music from Hip-hop, pop, 80s, techno, etc. Most of the girls are more hip-hop fans but were satisfied with the DJ's mixes and playlist that night.
I have only gone here once and it was for a duo 25th birthday celebration. We had two cabanas reserved for us at the rooftop overlooking all of downtown San Diego. This was my favorite part of the night..just enjoying the scenery and mingling with good friends. We were also provided with a huge array of mouth watering dishes from lamb chops, seafood, grilled veggies to a variety of hors d'oeuvres.
The staff was very accomodating and friendly. I only wish they played better music (i.e., hip hop or 80s jams) and had a bigger dancefloor. I hardly had any room to maneuver, because it was so packed. I was more concerned about my foot getting stomped on or worse, wacked in the face. Luckily, none of that happened, but daaang a girl needs her space you know.?! It's my mother effin' BIRTHDAY!!!
I couldn't really bust a move like I'm used to. hehe. I'm not sure if it's usually like this, but it seemed like everyone and their mama was there...seriously!!!
Despite my failed attempt to work the dancefloor, I really had a memorable time and as long as your with great company, you can't really complain too much.
had a AWESOME time---had V.I.P. so no waiting in line--- got a table right next to the dance floor. our table was full of girls and the table next to us was full of guys so we made it a double party and shared our drinks and had so much fun we danced and people kept taking pictures of us since we where all wearing pink wigs and it was 15 girls. so anywho had a great time would love to go there again
*only 4 stars since dance floor was slippery and fell down... the bouncer thought i was drunk so i had to prove him wrong by doing a 4* the punk wanted to kick me out!!!!
I wanted to experience the dining and nightlife, since I 've heard sooo much from my friends.
The dinning was only OK, the service was not good at all. Our waiter was super slow and kept forgetting stuff.
The party part was rather tooo crowded, I guess that day they had a celebrity coming so there were no room to stand or seat on all levels.
I did like the location, the decor and the fact that it has three different levels and the upper one is outdoor.
This place looks nice . There is not a real dance floor . The D.j was just ok . THe security guards were asshole. I was in an area where the bouncer did not want me to stand before i knew it he man handled me and left my leg with a huge black bruise.
Before i left i let him know he was a piece of #### with a power trip and noone should have this much power for 10.00 an hour. I am pissed and will never go back to this fake La wanna be club /
This place was pretty fun on a Saturday night. The drinks are a little pricey, but it's a dressy club so that's to be expected. The crowd is pretty laid back (20's and 30's), and I like the 3 separate floors.
The bottom level is really chill, and like your typical fancy bar. Most people are upstairs, so this is a good place to go sit at a table or something if you need a breather.
The 2nd level has a VIP lounge which you can get into if you are a VIP or a hot group of girls... :-)
The top level is my favorite. Though smoking is allowed (and I personally despise smoking), it's not that bad because 1) not a lot of people are smoking, 2) it's on a roof, so it's very well-ventilated. They have a sweet bar on top and a DJ spinning. There are also a couple of fire pit lounges which are pretty cool. This is the floor to be on. Plus, it's outside so it doesn't get as hot as on the first floor (where less people are actually dancing).
There is normally a $20 cover, but if you call ahead the day before or morning of and get put on the guest list you can get in for $10.
I had a fun time!
+ Nice balcony floor (mostly filled with smokers though)
+ Good size crowd
+ Good music
- $12 for tiny shots
- No real dance floor (people just dance everywhere next to the bar)
- 2nd floor is totally useless unless you're a girl or "VIP"
- $20 for cover which I don't think its really worth.
Every time I've been here I've had no complaints. The first time I went here, my friend and I took our boyfriends and arrived around 10:30 (?) and walked right up to the vip line and got right in free of charge. This is definitely not something that can be done often, if ever so it was pretty sweet.
The inside is very nice and there bars are big and centrally located. The rooftop deck is a nice way to escape the heat of the cram packed dance floors inside, but the only downside is that they usually play techno music which in my opinion sucks. The rest of the music was good though.
A day or two before Valentine's Day of this year we came here for a casino night charity event which was a blast. My bf and I were able to claim 2 out of the 10 raffle prizes and the food, drinks and experience was incredible.
My wife and I decided to meet our close friend for dinner,as usual we were running late for the reservations we had made and thought we would be out of luck on a dead Tuesday night in in the Gaslamp. To my suprise the crew at the restaurant said "no problem,we will wait on you ".Our bad for showing up so close to closing I thought as we walked in fully expecting to be rushed in and out.Instead what we experienced was fun upbeat service from the crew at the Stingaree.I had heard from several friends that the food was very good......They were right. We ended up not only enjoying our anniversary dinner and drinks but also being reminded of how much better it is when surrounded by staff that actually enjoys giving service.
Bougie of all bougie nightclubs... And they sure didn't disappoint =)
Jwtlyk, I'm here to review the nightclub not the dining experience (maybe next time?).
Anybody that is anybody in San Diego who wants to be seen goes to this spot. This is the place to be... Be forewarned, if you don't like crowded clubs, this isn't the spot for you on Saturday nights. Where horny men spend $15 drinks to attract the ladies; of course, that like it. Ouch!
Try and get an early start if you intend to party here. If you're the kind of person (or enjoy the company of those) that complains about long lines, I recommend going elsewhere. Their line is not especially kind to those that are late.
I came out to celebrate a good friends birthday but to get the much needed service we deserved we purchased a few bottles (skip the lines/ automatic entrance for you & your party). They graciously accommodated a beautiful bungalow on the rooftop. From my experience, this will significantly reduce the cost of that $100 - 200 bar tab when equally divided. Trust me it will be so worth it.
Side note: If you frequent establishments when drink specials are the norm this place isn't for you.
The view from the rooftop of the East Village was beautiful; especially, at night. The club layout was exquisite & immaculate. The music was okay... Although, I prefer more progressive music mash up club mix the dance floor(s) were packed. The servers were attentive and prompt when clearing the empty glasses & bottles.
Lastly, I strongly believe the friends you keep always heighten the experience. So if you're looking for the stylish & trendy ambiance to make your next outing "the" ultimate date night, fabulous girls/ guys night out, or simply just catching up with great friends this is the place for you.
Have a great time... We did. Thank you Stingaree =)
I've only been here because I have VIP through the place I live. They hook us up with drinks and guest list priviledges. The place is very pretty inside and I like the vibe. The drinks are always very good and I have also tried their food during happy hour.
The club indeed is amazing but like I said I only show up because I have VIP other wise I wouldn't stand in line like most wannabees out there. I really do think it is one of San Diego's coolest places to party. So go check it out with your friends!
Food was great! Their restaurant was a great experience!!!! You should try it. The restaurant manager was awesome and the server Miriah was was on it!
