I have to say , That I love love this salon.!! Really Great Staff that are genuinely happy and care about how your service is. I have been going to Marisa and I have to say that I have loved my hair every time I leave.
I think I am a very difficult customer:) when it comes to coloring my hair. I am a highlighted blonde that has been many other colors.. green, ash, yellow blue.. all due to bad experiences on newbury street from salons that I will refrain from mentioning:) ......New year ,,, starting off nice:) lol..
Marisa has fixed my god awful colors and changed me into a beautiful blonde!! She is sweet and caring just like her staff :) and she just knows blondes and color better than anyone I have ever been too. -

I went here with a livingsocial deal for a manicure/deep conditioning treatment and blowdry and had the sheer luck to get Laurene as my stylist.
I have now officially found my go-to salon. For starters, this place is immaculate, adorable, not pretentious in the slightest and the staff seem to genuinely enjoy working there.
Since my experience with my deal was so successful and Laurene was so pleasant and down to earth and seemed to have such great ideas as to what to do daily to style and wear my typically curly hair that I decided to return. I went back for a one process color and cut. Laurene managed to make my hair beautiful whether I wear it straight or curly. That has NEVER happened before. She gave me a lighter shade in the front and though I originally doubted that decision the instant I saw how it came out I was definitely glad she went for it.
I have never written a review for a hair place because I just always feel so awkward, uncomfortable and somewhat judged no matter where I go. This was the first place where I didn't regret not bringing a hair tie for the moment I walked out. I highly recommend Laurene and this place in general. -

over 3 years later and andrew and i are still going strong ;)
seriously though, i've been going to andrew since 2006 or 2007 and i have been consistently thrilled by all of my cuts/colors. he's always willing to try something new and he indulges me whenever i bring in a photo of a random celeb with a great hair-do that i want to copy.
i don't understand the reviews that say stilisti is stuffy or snobby - nothing could be further from the truth. it's a very nice and classy newbury st. salon without being pretentious in the least. everyone is always extremely friendly and professional - they all seem to enjoy working here and with each other - which is refreshing.
in addition to the almonds and peanut m&m's - they also have an online booking system where you can earn points for booking online/referrals which can be used as $$ off your services or products. i think i got $30 off my last visit -- it adds up!
really love this place!1 Previous Review: Show all »

Review from Mandy M.
Boston, MA
I recently relocated to Boson, and my tried & trusted favorite stylist is now about 600mi away. I'm very, very hesitant to wander into any salon without knowing something about their style/aesthetic/quality of work, especially since I've had my fair share of hair disasters (some of my own doing, some at the hands of paid professionals). Based on all the positive feedback I saw on Yelp, I decided to give Stilisti a try.
I went to see Laurene for a cut and partial foil. The salon itself was lovely, and Laurene was great fun to talk to. In fact, the whole experience was quite nice and I left feeling gorgeous. For the record, I am fully aware of the general price range of a haircut and a partial foil, and this was on the higher end. However, I was (initially) very satisfied with the job she did, so I figured it was worth it to have found a stylist with whom I could trust my hair.
I was happy until about 5 days later when my hair started breaking all over the place and falling out. Keep in mind, I was hardly ever heat styling my hair, partially due to laziness and partially because this summer was so humid that it was a waste of time. In addition, my haircut looked terrible a few days after, and when I DID try to style it, so much of my hair broke that I ended up with the remaining bits sticking straight up all over my head.
Upon closer inspection, it turns out that she had bleached OVER my existing highlights instead of just touching up the roots and toning, making my hair brittle and prone to breakage. Now I can hardly run my hands through my hair without coming out with a fistful of broken strands. It's terrible. On top of that, my hair is now nearly impossible to manage, since I can't heat style it more than once a week for fear of losing half my hair in the process.
I will absolutely not be going back to this salon. Ever. I only gave it two stars because Laurene was very kind and down-to-earth, even if she did fry my hair. -

WONDERFUL WONDERFUL WONDERFUL salon. I've been going to see Sally since January. When I first saw her I was dealing with extremely over-processed hair that was a dull color and brittle texture. Over the last few months, she has worked with me to fix both the color and the texture. She is an absolute gem! She listens to all of my nit-picky comments about my hair, remembers what I've said previously, and makes subtle suggestions as far as how to help my hair look better. She also does extra things to enhance my look like using a special lightening cream around my hairline. Whenever she finishes working on me, I gasp because she's done such an amazing job. I literally cannot sing her praises highly enough.
The rest of the salon is wonderful. It's a pretty space with fun touches like glass jars of snacks. The staff is friendly and helpful, and they have a wonderful array of products. Having been to several different Newbury salons, I'm used to seeing people who are upset with waits or bad service; I've never seen anyone who isn't pleased with their service at Stilisti. -

Love this salon. It's an oasis on busy Newbury. Alexandra has been doing my highlights and cut for two years. My first visit stopped my search to find the "best" colorist for my very specific blonde requests. Alexandra is sweet to talk to, listens and has a wealth of knowledge. She does a dry cut which I was skeptical about at first but it works! She understands I am looking to maintain my length and takes off just enough to get it healthy again. Her blowout is quick and meticulous. The girls there turned me on to a new line of products (Oribe) that smell amazing and have added so much moisture and strength back to my hair, specifically curl by definition and supershine moisturizing cream. I have just moved to NYC and have yet to find anyone like Alexandra.

Review from Julie C.
My hair has never been this healthy in a long time. Even after getting haircuts, my hair always went back to being oily after a few days.
After my haircut with Pam, I can go days without shampooing, though I do use conditioner everyday. But my hair feels and looks healthy. It got revitalized and its life back.
Walking into Stilisti, its really cute, they have a cute section by the waiting area with a K cup machine and glass jars filled with goodies (Oreos, almonds, M&Ms) I resisted since for Lent, I gave up junk food, though I could've had almonds.
Anyway, Pam is really nice. I have long hair and wanted to keep the length since it takes me forever to grow. I wanted something different and she told me basically with long hair, theres not much "different: you can really do with it, unless I was willing to cut off more than just my dead ends. I had to think about this.
As Brittney washed my hair, I figured, it will grow back and I was going to let Pam take my hair and do what she felt would be nice.
I am glad I did. I have a really nice haircut that is extremely manageable whether I style it or let it be. Most importantly, I love how healthy my hair is! Its pretty awesome.
I would love to see Pam again but can't really justify the $120 it would've cost me if I didn't have an Eversave voucher. Wish I had stocked up when I had the chance!
But maybe who knows, I may just splurge and treat myself! -

I absolutely LOVE this place! My stylist Elle has seen me go through the extreme awkwardness of my prepubescent and teenage years into someone attempting to be a put together adult. She has really aided me in the process.
I started to color my hair about a year and a half ago. I did my first few attempts on my own, from a box, and needless to say the results were absolutely disastrous. I came in for my bimonthly haircut in late May of last year, and Elle took one look at me and asked if I would consider getting my hair colored. I didn't want to pay so much for it, so I declined at that point. Two weeks later, as I was drying my hair, all I could notice was the large chunk of dark brown hair at the top of my head and the EXTREMELY stark line between the brown and "blonde"--aka now orangey blonde-- sections. I called right then and there and made an appointment for a partial foil.
I have been extremely happy with the results I've received over the years from both cuts, blowouts, and color. Yes, it is expensive (believe me, at $160 a pop for a partial foil WITHOUT getting it blow dried, I nearly cried when I swiped my card that first time), but I really do think it's worth it. EVERYONE is so sweet and friendly, and not stuck up at all! This is huge for Newbury Street. Elle is fabulous, professional, and very very nice.
I highly, highly recommend Stilisti -- and really any stylist there -- to all of my friends looking for a new salon. If you are looking for a friendly, comfortable but professional and classy place to indulge in, Stilisti is absolutely the place to check out. -

So just to quickly say again just how awesome this place and Andrew are, he sent me a note in the mail telling me that if my hair wasn't what I had expected, he'd correct it complimentary...so I went back and it's totally what I wanted! Really psyched about it, and really impressed with their customer service.

Excellent salon. The salon has a relaxing atmosphere - it is clean, staff is friendly, plenty of magazines and comfy couches. My hair has been cut, colored, and highlighted by both Marissa and Alex. I have never walked out of the salon dissatisfied. My hair color looks natural and the cut itself is easy to maintain but stylish. Marissa and Alex are talented and have a way of making you feel beautiful when you are sitting in their chairs.
I have also received manicures and pedicures from Bella at Stilisti. Bella does an amazing job, your nail color lasts and Bella suggests colors that look great with your skin tone. -

Type of Venue: Salon
# of Salons I have visited: 2
Expertise: 5/5
I used to see Andrew before moving out to the west coast. He has been doing hair for a long time, in fact, I think I might have been one of his first clients. He did such a great job the first time around that I continued to go to him throughout the next 6 years (Andrew colored my hair as shown in this Yelp profile photo).
Delivery of Services: 5/5
Andrew became a good friend, in the sense that a few months could go by and I would sit back in his chair and we would just play catch up. I miss him a lot!
Customer Service: 5/5
All of the assistants at the front desk have been amazing. There is also a website where clients can create a username/password and manage appointments online.
For the past three years I had visited Stilisti, I had seen the same familiar faces time and time again. This is not the case with a majority of salons, as stylists sometimes have the tendency to bounce from salon to salon. Everyone here takes pride in their work and I feel like they all work together as a team.
Cleanliness: 5/5
Stilisti has always been spotless.
Affordability: 5/5
Stilisti is up there in cost, but this is to be expected for a salon on Newbury Street. In comparison to other salons on Newbury Street, I think Stilisti is less expensive, but I also know that rates vary from Stilisti stylist to Stilisti stylist.
Average: 5/5, so 5 stars. -

I think this is the beginning of a beautiful relationship.
No, seriously. I am a compulsive colorer, but I'm fairly certain Megan Kelley has converted me to the light side. After meeting Megan for a consultation about a month and a half ago, I left confused and uncertain of what I wanted. Although she listened to my ideas and made suggestions I left uncertain and without booking an appointment because I wasn't in sure about what I wanted. Usually I would've decided on an impulse but Megan actually suggested I take time to consider what I really want and didn't push me to book. Instead she gave me her email and said contact her when I've decided or with questions.
Flash forward 6 weeks. I stroll back into Stilisti yesterday with the intent to lighten. Megan's initial suggestions resonated with me and I decided to take the plunge and get a full highlight. Upon walking into the air conditioned bliss on a second story brownstone on Newbury, I was greeted by a cheerful receptionist who kindly informed me I was a half hour early. She offered to see if the manicurist was available to fill the time gap, but I turned her down and instead took her up on her offer for a iced cold glass of tea. Stilisti stocks a little bar area full of beverages and sweet snacks! A perfect way to stave off hunger for long hair hauls such as a full highlight.
As soon as Megan finished up with her previous client, she greeted me, remembered our entire conversation from our initial consultation, and got right to mixing up my color. We chatted about everything-school to beauty. Megan is a really interesting person to talk to, making the time fly by. Soon thereafter I was led back to the couches where I waited for my color to set. Then to the sink where an assistant washed my hair and gave me an incredible hair massage.
After I was given the option of blow drying myself or having an assistant do it. I chose to do it myself because I wasn't going anywhere later that evening but before being handed the hair dryer, the assistant combed me out and put product in my hair. I then dried my hair and was set to go.
The color came out perfect. It truly exceeded my expectations and was worth every penny. -

Not gonna let you know who cut my hair (HE'S AWESOME).
Was on a search for a stylist that has comparable (or superior) talent than the my last stylist, formerly of Oxenrose, in San Francisco.
Read Yelp Reviews and found Stilisti with rave reviews of a particular stylist.
I brought pictures of my last haircut from San Francisco. He understood exactly what I wanted and even gave me great tips on how to style my hair.
I'm SO GLAD I found the right stylist at first try.
LOVE MY HAIR! (see main photo)

Just like the review below me I too suffered a major hair trauma when I went from light to dark and back again. I didn't make it all the way back, I was stuck in an ugly light brown, green highlight mess.
I searched yelp for corrective color and found all the great reviews about Megan Kelley.
When you step into Stilisti it is hard to believe you are on Newbury. The salon is quiet, calming and beautiful. There are absolutely no attitudes and I never feel rushed.
I met with Megan and she came up with a rehab plan for my hair.I have now been back a few times and my hair looks better than ever.
Everything happens for a reason, and if I hadn't had such a bad experience at my previous salon I may have never found Megan.
Besides being a genius with color (she was an art major in College so she can really match colors to compliment your skin tone) Megan is one of the nicest people I have ever met and gives amazing advice!!
Thank you James Joseph for almost ruining my hair so that I could find Megan :) -

I followed my favorite stylist, Andrew, from Liquid over to Stilisti. I've only been once, but so far, I am impressed. Though it is a little more expensive at this salon than my old one, I found everyone there to be incredibly friendly without being pushy. The decor is open and welcoming, and, unlike other places I've visited on Newbury Street, I was immediately made to feel welcome. The scalp massage that came with the washing made me a little melty. I also noticed that they offer waxing as well as hair services. I like the location -- though I am not usually a Newbury Gal, this is way more T-accessible than Liquid was.
I should add that if any fellow Curly Girlies are reading this, you won't find a better stylist than Andrew at Stilisti. He gives my Jew-fro body and shape without frizzies and poofi-ness. -

I actually didn't follow Andrew Light from Liquid... my husband did. I followed another stylist to a different salon but when I was looking for someone to do hair for my wedding (I wanted pin-curls and very 50's inspired hair for the wedding party) my then boyfriend asked Andrew if it was something he could do and he thankfully said yes! It was a lot to ask because I needed him to drive almost 3 hours to Maine for the wedding and do hair for 5 girls over Labor Day weekend.
Because I was doing pin-curls and wanted my color to be uniform and not stripey, I started having Andrew do my highlights about 6 months before the wedding and then because he knew what shape would work best, I started having him cut it. Next thing I knew... I wouldn't let anyone else touch my hair.
I have now been going to Andrew for almost 2 years and my husband has probably been seeing him for 4. He is the best colorist I have ever been to - my hair always looks very natural and bright and it's in the best condition it has ever been in. He has also given me the best cuts I have ever had - he is creative but conservative and never does anything that will be difficult to maintain. I get more compliments after Andrew cuts my hair than I ever have before.
My husband is also completely loyal to Andrew and has suffered through some bad haircuts in the past so he now won't see anyone else. Andrew knows his hair and gives him a great cut every time - not too short but not so long that it needs to be cut again the next week.
He also did an AMAZING job with my hair for my wedding. It was exactly what I imagined, it lasted all day and looked gorgeous. All the girls in my wedding looked amazing and I owe it all Andrew. He made the long drive to Maine, was there at the crack of dawn and had us all ready on time. Everyone has said how unique the looks were because we didn't do the standard wedding up-dos.
He is also one of the nicest, most lovely people to spend an afternoon with - something that's pretty important when you spend a lot of time at the salon! -
Review from Anna P.

Like two other reviewers, I followed Andrew from Liquid to Stilisti. Absolutely worth it. Andrew should probably be given a gold medal in taming frizzy, curly hair. Look at the profile picture. My hair naturally looks like Gilda Radner. No joke. But I can wear my cut both curly and straight, and it frames my face well.
The salon is soothing and quiet, and I think it's awesome how all the stylists' tools are neatly tucked away in wood units, so you never see a big ol' mess of cords and appliances.
My only complaint (and it's a small one) is that I feel like I have to dress up to go get my hair cut on Newbury street. In the South End, nobody looked at me funny for wearing Old Navy jeans. Whoops, sorry, my Diane von Furstenberg must be at the dry cleaner's. . . -

Stilisti is a great, cozy, but pricey salon. The staff is very friendly and they make you feel at home. I absolutely adore Megan Kelley. She is a master at color. She's very attentive and listens to what YOU want. She doesn't do what she wants unlike other colorists. A true professional artist. I used to go to Kristina for cuts/styling but she left unfortunately! :( (Please come back after your world trip!!) Anyhow, Alexandra was recommended to me and she is awesome. She had been trained by Kristina I guess. Alex is great. I have only had her style my hair for a special event but I was more than pleased with her work. I have waist-long coarse Asian hair and she was able to curl all of it into a Victoria's Secret Supermodel hair-like masterpiece within a half hour!!! Great stylist. Quick and very sweet girl.
The only negative thing I can think of is that sometimes I have had to wait a bit to get into a chair. If you have an appointment, make sure you account for some extra time spent waiting etc. Not a big deal, but just be aware.
All in all, you won't be disappointed. :)
PS. MAKE SURE TO BRING CASH TO TIP! They don't accept tips via credit cards anymore. The damn credit card companies take more so the stylists get less! -

I absolutely loved Stilisti! Such a pleasant atmosphere. I loved the coffee, M&M's, almonds & cookies available to clients! Sally cut my hair and really took the time to listen to all of my concerns & suggestions & offered her own as well, which was so welcome!
It's a little pricey your first visit, but the price does drop a bit upon your return. I'll definitely be returning. I live in Western MA, but it's worth the hike to Newbury Street to have my hair cut at this salon! It was such a treat!! -

Nothing makes a man look well groomed like a good brow wax. Tastefully done waxing is essential to look manly. My brow wax was perfect. A basic clean up with a slight reshaping. I do not look like a girl, but a good looking man. Go there, you do not even need to tell them what you want. They know how to treat you and make you like great

I went to see Andrew to cut my curly hair and just love it. I don't think I've had a better experience at a salon. The staff was friendly and genuine and the place is recently renovated and has a nice atmosphere. They also serve water and hot drinks in cute mugs and cookies and candies are all over the place.
I was going to a friend's wedding and couldn't decide how to wear my very curly hair (straight or curly) so Andrew sent me away with barrel curls that he blew out by twisting sections with a round brush. I have had these before from Safar, but this was impeccable because the cut is so perfect. I felt red carpet ready on a rainy day!
At $80, it was WELL worth it; I've spent the same for stylists who didn't do half the job Andrew did. Post-shower, when managing my curls on my own, I am still thrilled with this cut. It's not too short, not out of control, and sits just right. I don't even have to blow dry as much as I used to because he took the weight out of the top layers but kept the length intact. It's playful and trendy and just perfect. THANK YOU ANDREW!!!
Everyone on yelp is right about his styling ability and his character.
Me and my curls will definitely be back! -

I only came to Stilisti to see Andrew Light, who is a friend of mine. I had no idea the salon would be as wonderful as Andrew is! It's true that he is a standout there. He loves what he does and has a rare talent for color. I've got wavy and processed hair that's sustained some damage now that I'm in my mid-thirties and have been covering my grey regularly. But Andrew managed to turn my hair around after just a couple of visits. He made my faded highlights look gorgeous after adding some perfectly placed chocolate lowlights-- an idea no stylist has ever suggested to me. He nailed the cut, too, and now I have long layers that hang with precision instead of frizziness. He added a glaze as well, and now I have amazing shine. The clients in the other chairs were staring at me last time I was there and one asked her stylist whether she could make her hair look as shiny as mine!
The products there are wonderful, too. I've long been a fan of Davines since I started using using the line after going to Shag. Andrew also suggested Minardii to me last time I was there and I've fallen in love with her line. But I recommend a regular glaze if you want to keep things really healthy and shiny-looking.
My last few visits also included pedicures from Bella, who is a whiz. She's cash only and pedicures cost about $45, but my last three have each lasted 3 weeks or more. She's incredible, and her taste is excellent. I recently learned that they're offering brow waxes, too, so just ask if you want to include one with your hair service.
One note: they recently started accepting appointments from their website. Call for a login name if you want to start using that service. It's a little clunky but overall it works just fine. -

Need a FABULOUS manicure? Bella is your woman.... Stilisti is a really nice place, not "snooty" like a lot of places on Newbury. The beverages and snacks are always great too while waiting.

My sister recommended I go to her hairstylist, Marissa, whom she's been seeing for about 5 years. I've always thought my sister's haircut and color was so nice, so I decided to give Marissa a try.
Since I've been seeing Marissa, I have never received so many compliments on my hair in my entire life. Even men have complimented me on it! She's awesome. Expensive, but totally worth it! -

I too followed Andrew from Liquid to Stilisti. I went for the first time yesterday and got my usual fabulous cut and color from the world renowned Andrew. He's the best! He doesn't even yell at me about the fact that I go six months between visits.
Stilisti is pretty swanky, but definitely not snooty-snobby like some Newbury joints. The front desk staff was very friendly and welcoming. It's not the cheapest but definitely on par with the pricing with the rest of Newbury. -

It's obviously already been said, but I'll say it again, Andrew Light is wonderful. He always does a perfect job with my highlights and giving me a haircut so that it still has personality even though it's long and straight. Andrew as a person is charming, friendly, and hilarious. He's supportive of whatever you want to do but also has great ideas and suggestions. He's also very flexible, and can sometimes fit you in even if the online schedule says he's booked.
I would probably follow Andrew anywhere (already followed him from Liquid) but Stilisti as a whole is pleasant. There are snacks and beverages available, and the girls who wash your hair are super nice. Plus they massage your scalp! Definitely worth the trip to Newbury. -

I hate to update a Review of the Day, but this is serious: you must, and I really do command you to, go to Bella to get your nails done. I was a chronic nail-biter my entire life and this woman has completely changed my life! I went to her because of my general love of Stilisti and she totally exceeded my expectations.
I only got a manicure in the first place because I was going on an interview and needed half-way presentable nails. They were too short for Bella to even file down! Instead, she cut my horribly long cuticles and taught me how to care for my nails. She then gave me this amazing nail-strengthening product and told me that if I put this stuff on my nails, I wouldn't bite them. Miraculously, it worked, and I have been bite-free for a proud (and whopping!) 3 and a half months.
I don't know exactly what it is about this product (it's not like, one of those garlic-tasting polishes or anything) or what it is about Bella (besides being warm and thoughtful and the best), but my nails have totally transformed.
These are the stages of my nails, from the POV of my best friends:
(21 years before Bella)
"You have E.T. hands"
(1 week after Bella)
"Oh, you stopped biting your nails!"
(1 month after Bella)
"Heh heh, you nails are getting longer than mine"
(3 months after Bella)
"ARE THESE FAKE?! Alright, give me the damn number of that salon."
It's also important to mention that although Bella is slightly pricey and I am definitely broke, I can afford her because I only need to get a manicure once every 6 weeks or so because of how well of a job she does. Go now!!!Listed in: Everything I Do, I Do It For…

Who knew that so many Yelpers came here because of Andrew!? I also was a client of Andrew's at Liquid and followed him here when he changed salons. Andrew = 5 stars ***** !!! He is the only stylist I've found who can give me a decent (mens) cut; he is friendly and unassuming.
As far as the rest of the salon goes, I was definitely more of a "Liquid" person in terms of the punk/crazy/Elvis themes they had going there, and I've always felt a bit uncomfortable at the super-stuffy Stilisti. I rarely see another man or another person under 30 years old there. -

Had a last minute appointment with Sally on Friday morning and she was wonderful! I felt I was in good hands the entire time. She knew exactly how to handle my thick, textured hair and had great suggestions on how to care for it myself. I really felt comfortable and satisfied from begining to finish. I am happy to say that I have found a laid-back venue that can cut my beautiful locks for a reasonable price. From the receptionists to the stylists, Stilisti's staff is super friendly, unpretentious, and accommodating.

Perhaps things were a bit different for me because I was using a gift certificate that I'd won in a raffle, however, I can say that I would NEVER pay the amount the salon asks for its services based on my experience.
The salon is beautiful and does give the impression of being very exclusive. I liked the open floor-plan and clean lines. My stylist was pleasant, which was a plus, but I was not particularly happy with my hair. I have moderately long curly hair and wanted a fairly simple hair cut involving layers and angles - nothing too fancy. However, she did not once ask if the length was ok or if I was happy with it as she was going along (I wasn't, she barely took off any length). In addition, she flat-ironed my hair - a practice I find completely suitable when I'm feeling lazy at home, but not one I would ever expect at a salon, let alone a high-end salon on newbury st.
the haircut could've been worse, but the manicure-pedicure really couldn't have. first of all, i was ushered into a back room, barely bigger than my closet. i sat in an office chair, had my hands and feet forcibly worked on by a woman who barely acknowledged me, and had my feet "massaged" by one of those plug in things you can buy at CVS for $20. the manicure chipped almost immediately, and the polish didn't even cover my nails entirely.
i've definitely experienced much better and for 1/3 of the price (and I didn't even pay). i will not be returning to stilisti anytime soon. -

This is an update of my review from 2 weeks ago! After being rescheduled I finally got a haircut here and had a fantastic experience. I had a great conditioning treatment and my stylist, Pam did a great job with my hair. The ambiance was really nice and comfortable (snacks, coffee, tea and water are available while you wait, along with an abundance of magazines).
Everyone was also very apologetic about my last appointment being cancelled and I even got a special gift at the end :) I know cancellations happen and things come up, my issue was how the customer service dealt with it, and the fact that the company is so strict about charging clients for cancellations with less than 24 hours (regardless if it's an emergency of not). I don't think it's smart business to demand a potentially client's credit card information before allowing them to make an appointment. If it's a client that is a bit flaky and bails on you and wastes your time a lot, then yes by all means charge them for cancelling, but otherwise cancellations should be a risk you take for gaining potential new clients.
Great place and I am totally satisfied with their service! -

Today was my forth time at Stilisti and I love it more and more everytime I go there. It has such a nice environment and the stylists are great! I have had my hair done by Brittany and she does such an amazing job! I should say that I have long hair and eveyrwhere else I have gone I have been so disappointed with the style and it take them forever but Brittnay is fast and efficent and she listens to what you want and does exactly what you have in mind! I tool my husband for a haircut there and he loved it too !
You should definately try it out! The best thing is the costumer service...they are super kind and attentive and professional! Finally, they use the best hair products ever! You Should try it out and you won't be disappointed! -

I love this salon! Just like all the other reviewers have mentioned Andrew is the best in Boston. This man knows how to cut and knows color. I came in looking like a frumpy suburban mom and left looking like a million bucks. I have gone to 6 or more salons on Newbury and so many others throughout the city and suburbs. Finally I found a gem (Andrew). He's fun to watch as he cuts because he is so artistic and takes great care in his work. You can tell he wants to get the cut perfect. He was also very nice and funny. I'm so glad I listened to all the other reviewers and tried Andrew out. I will tell all my friends to go see him. He's that good!
Stilisti is a very laid back salon. Everyone was so nice and unpretentious. It's not your typical high maintenance Newbury St salon. It's a nice relaxing, but vibrant environment. I loved it there. -

This place is the best!! I was in desperate need of a highlight and after trying several places around boston (both on newbury and off) that bordered on dreadful, i was sooo relieved to find Stilisti! This place is a true oasis, and makes me actually wanna go sit in a chair for four hours! The receptionists were fabulous so warm and welcoming! The salon is very chic inside. But even more important to me was how i was treated, i hate being looked down upon because i am a college student and i definitely didnt feel that way here. Hair is such a crucial focal point and i hate hate hate when my precious hair is in the hands of uneducated dopes who act like they know what they are doing and butcher my hair.
Sally Howard was wonderful! Shes very well educated, knows what shes doing and can actually do it! I showed her a couple pictures and she got exactly what I wanted. Normally i need to get my roots done every 4 weeks, with Sallys blonde i didnt have to get them redone for 2 months!!!
All in all the money is sooo worth it everyone at the salon is wonderful and even better its a pleasant experience! I truly felt relaxed and rejuvenated after my app!
Also, on a whim i got my eyebrows done because they were in need and the girl did a surprisingly superb job so shout out to her! unfortunately i cant remember her name, but she was real great
i definitely urge everyone to give Stilisti a try, u wont be sorry!! -

Megan Kelley and Stilisti lived up to all of my expectations and more!
I came to Megan the other day with hair in SERIOUS need of color help. (to the point where I wouldn't even wear my hair down, I hated it so much). After a consultation, I booked an appointment for the next day! Like all of the other reviews say, Megan is incredibly talented at enhancing your natural beauty with hair color. Not only did she fix my hair (which I had been told at other places on Newbury that it was basically not fixable in one visit), but I left with great color that I'm finally happy to show off again. Megan is also one of the sweetest people I have ever met. She genuinely cares about her clients and it shows.
The rest of the staff at Stilisti was friendly and great as well!
I will without a doubt be going back to Stilisti and I can't believe I've been coloring my hair this long without Megan's expertise! -

Sorry for the belated update, but I'm a tax accountant so my life is kind of over until April 15. This last haircut I got from Andrew in January is still going strong. Andrew is very skillful and he has worked with me to shape my long curly hair so it never looks puffy or triangular. His styles look good from the moment he does them, all the way until I get a chance to fly home again for another haircut.

Review from Natalie K.

So, after reading reviews about stylists who are really good with curly hair, I decided to go with Andrew here.
Basically, walking out, my hair looked nice, no doubt. But the cut didn't last very long at all, even though I asked him for something that would be good 4-6 months or so, and told him explicitly I don't mind making things a bit shorter if that's what it takes. He insisted on keeping length saying it will still grow well, and guess what, already a month later I was ready for another cut, and two months later (I was lazy about getting the cut) my hair was a mess again. The previous haircut I got at another place on Newbury (from a stylist who moved from Boston to DC, sadly for me), still looked great 8 months later!! So it IS possible to accomplish with my hair! I also liked the finish she gave me much more than the one Andrew gave me, which frankly was fine but really not very creative. So at least for curly hair, I recommend you look elsewhere. I'll be trying Jean-Pierre next...
