I'm on a roll forgetting to take photos, but I think it's because we only eat out occasionally so I get so excited when the food arrives that I dive right in!! LOL
Sticks & Stones is one of our favorites we return to again and again. This trip we started with the Dance All Night salad to share and then moved on to the amazing Mockingbirdsing pizza. We got a large because they are huge and we wanted pizza for lunch the next day too! Win win! I can never resist their amazing marinara sauce so I ordered a cup of that on the side for dipping my pizza bones, aka crust. Always fabulous and this time was no exception. Great service as well and noise level wasn't bad, as I had read in some other reviews. This was a Wednesday night so it wasn't packed which I'm sure makes a difference.
The only critique I have is bathroom cleanliness. The door going into the bathroom looks as if it has never been cleaned and the interior is much the same. A quick fix for someone before opening....hint hint.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Feb 24, 2024Updated review2 check-ins
A few months back we tried Sticks and Stones for the first time after covid. I left less than awesome review on here. We tried it one more time this past weekend. I'm sorry to say it has not improved. The issue is not the ambiance or staff. They are honestly great. And it's not even the presentation, the food is beautiful. It's the actual quality. We ordered pizza and the only way to describe it is wet and burnt at the same time. Each slice was wet with the most watery tomato sauce. The toppings and cheese slid completely off and the crust was wet but also burnt.
It's such a cool vibe, and I want to like sticks and stones so badly. It may be a preference thing, but I don't think it's just me. After years of watching Dave Portnoy on Barstool's "One bite challenge," I've come to the conclusion that people don't know how to do pizza right around here. I just want good pizzaHelpful 3Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 0Jul 10, 2023Previous reviewWe tried sticks and stones for the first time since they opened back up after covid. Unfortunately, we were underwhelmed. The charcuterie was lacking. The pizza was on a thin, burnt crust. We sat outside which was very nice. I wish the food was better. The service was good.

This was my second time visiting. Went on a Monday evening. Not too busy. Ambiance is good, somewhat dimly lit and comfortable. I ordered the avalanche & my boyfriend ordered the magnolia mountain. We also ordered an app, desire & the cookie and ice cream for dessert. I loved the avalanche, as did he. Unfortunately the magnolia mountain was a miss for both of us. Although everything was fresh tasting, that pizza had almost no flavor (note we ordered w/ no olives). Would not recommend. The desire goat cheese appetizer was fantastic, only preference would be for two more pieces of bread to dip. I also tried the cucumber chili margarita... I would definitely order again, but was hoping for a little more kick. Also quite small for $10. Overall pretty good experience. The only other side note is not once we're we brought plates, silverware or napkins & all other tables were given them, but no biggie. Oh & the dessert was good, but nothing to rave about...

Overdue for an updated review. Sticks and Stones is probably top 3, if not 2 for pizza in Greensboro for me. I really appreciate the ability to not only create my own, but to have it as a half option to my partner's half of their pizza. Plenty of great, local toppings to choose from - if you don't know what to choose, select one of their original pizzas which are great as well. We love the dry rub wings and beer selection as well.
The service is always great and the staff is very kind. Inside seating, bar, booth as well as outdoor seating available. Definite recommendation for pizza.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 6Oh no 0Nov 25, 2020Previous reviewVery good, low key place for some pizza. Pizza is cooked in a wood-fired oven - perfect blister and char, doesn't have a bitter taste at all. The dough is more on the floppy side so I wouldn't recommend too many toppings. The crust is perfect.
They offer their original pizzas that you can choose from, but if you do not see something to your liking, you can get a custom pizza (so many ingredients to choose from, even an egg). Go for the large.
The wings are exceptional, comparable to the crispy wings at Jake's up the road. Service was great, our waitress was very kind and attentive.
Order:
-Half Custom pizza
-Half "Sweet Carolina" Tomato sauce, Bradd's sweet Italian sausage, roasted peppers, spinach, mozzarella, fresh ricotta, and parmesan
-Wings: Cajun Dry
*they have the good ranch
*outside dining available as well
*red pepper & parmesan available
COVID info:
Masks required for customers, employees also. Hand sanitizer available and social distancing enforced between tables (good amount of space). - Jun 8, 2023
Sticks & Stones is one of my favorite pizza joints in Greensboro. The food is always delicious and the service is consistently good. There can be a wait sometimes depending on the night, but you can usually find a couple seats to squeeze into at the bar. The restaurant itself is pretty rustic and symbolizes the deep roots that this pinnacle of Greensboro has in town.
The beer selection is really extensive, along with other drink options. I always order the Dance All Night salad. The roasted red pepper dressing is to die for! So much so that I'll ask for extra to dip my pizza in, or buy some to take home. I also love the Sweet Carolina pizza. I ordered it with chicken instead of sausage this visit and yum! Amazing! Other friends consistently order the Gold (appetizer) and A Kiss Before You Go and they rave over these menu items.
Parking can be a pain! But there is an overflow lot a block or so away. Otherwise such a great location near UNCG campus and within walking distance to other spots. Sticks is a must try in town!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Jun 27, 2023
Great neighborhood pizza place! I stopped here for dinner after a flight and was not disappointed. I had a salad, pizza, and a glass of vinho verde wine. You can't get vinho verde everywhere so that was a happy surprise. The salad was perfectly dressed and the portions of both the salad and pizza were just right.
The bartender was very friendly and helpful and the service was great. I couldn't decide which pizza I wanted and he suggested I do half and half, which was perfect.
I think this may become my first stop off a flight to Greensboro from now on!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Jul 20, 2023
Y'all, I'm it's been a minute since I've been in Greensboro and somehow I've never had the pizza at Sticks & Stones. Short story, the food was delicious! The 3 servers who worked the floor tonight all deserve raises. They were in sync, always available and had great timing. The restaurant itself was nice and cozy. A few TVs playing and plenty of space so you don't feel like your on top of the next table. They even have an outside patio area!
We had the Cajun dry rub Chicken, the Sweet Caroline pizza, and a Cookie du jour with Icecream.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Louisa M.Blowing Rock, NC622715Mar 24, 2024

Pizza is definitely my love language. While visiting a friend in Greensboro, I wanted pizza. Thanks (again!) to Yelp, I stumbled across Sticks & Stones. What a cute spot!
We had to order at the bar (online ordering was down at the time) & it was nice enough outside that we walked around while waiting the 25 minutes for our pizzas. I also ordered wings.
The presentation was nice! The wings & the pizza were fantastic. Wings were fantastic. The pizza crust & toppings were excellent.
Parking is troublesome.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 1 - Frank D.Wyomissing, PA367Apr 3, 2024
Great service and nice atmosphere. Stopped in while visiting Greensboro and was promptly seated. Enjoyed a nice beer and pizza while splitting some appetizers.
