After shopping around for mortgage rates for our first home purchases, we found that Stewart & Soss provided us with the best rate compared to going through the big name banks. Andrew and his team made the process fairly easy in regards to the documentation and paperwork needed. They also helped with understanding the process and all the fees that were needed. We were able to close on time with the help of his team and moved into our home within a month.
6 months later Stewart & Soss contacted us about refinancing at no cost even though we had not looked into it. Once again the process was easy and we came away with a lower interest rate at no cost. This savings will definitely help us in the long run.
I would highly recommand Stewart & Soss to anyone looking to purchase a new home or to re-finance. They are easy to work with and get things done in a timely manner!
We will definitely use them again if we buy a new home or re-finance our current home again! -

I have been looking at refinancing my homes for a few months. I stumbled on Stewart and Soss Mortgage on Yelp's reviews and decided to contact Andrew via email. I received a call from Chad who is very experienced and professional. He listened to my requirements and came back with a competitive quote. The whole process was fast and smooth. He kept me updated of the loan status and answered my emails even late at night. I signed the loan documents within 3 weeks at the comfort of my home. By far, this is the best refi I have done - in terms of good rates, fast turnaround time, and experienced and professional team at Stewart & Soss. I'd recommend Stewart & Soss to anyone who is looking to purchase or refinance a home. I'll definitely use their service again in the future.

Just bought my first home and closed about a month ago with Andrew's help.
We found Andrew through Yelp and after an initial meeting with him, we were sold. He was very friendly, helpful and understanding about this being my first home purchase. He spent a considerable amount of time explaining all the steps of the home purchase process.
I think the main reason I do not hesitate to give Andrew a 5-star rating is due to all the personal attention he gave us. He was ALWAYS available via his office/cell number, and if I happened to get his voicemail, he would return my calls quickly. The same goes for email communications. He was very responsive which helped answer a lot of my questions and concerns that I had. To tell you the truth, I sometimes wondered how Andrew was able to give so much personalized attention to me, because I know he is busy, yet I always felt like he had time for me.
Andrew was able to get my pre-approval letter quickly, and once we put in the offer, Andrew and his team worked very closely with me in order to get the appraisals, loan application documents and finally the loan approval.
Andrew's rates were also competitive and he was even able to match a slightly better rate that I found from a bank.
All said, I highly recommend Andrew, especially if you are new to the home-buying process and are looking for someone that will really take care of you and take the time to answer all your questions. -

The mortgage broker is kind of like the offensive line in football. You don't notice them until the f up. But they also need to get some love too. I went to Stewart & Soss based on Yelp reviews and because they were pretty close to our place. Turned out to be a good choice.
We were looking for a pre-approval and upon talking to Andrew, he got an idea about our situation and talked about various options. He also gave us a lead on a buying agent which we acted on.
When it came down to them doing work, they came through with flying colors. We had a short closing period which meant lots of coordination and tight deadlines. There were also some logistical issues with signing documents which added to the degree of difficulty. I definitely had my reservations about everything done in time but i'm writing this review from our new place. nuff said. -

Overall performance and satisfaction A+
I've done many home loan transactions over the past 10 years and the things that I look for in a broker or loan agent that are important to a job well done are as follows: 1. They must be experienced and very knowledgeable in the home loan industry. 2. They must look out for my best interest and not more concerned about getting the highest commission. 3. They get the job done, on time and with the least amount of problems. 4. They must be attentive and available to clients.
Andrew has all those qualities, he and his team did a fantastic job on our home purchase loan and we were very satisfied. I look forward to working with him again in the future. -

Our fairly large mortgage-obtaining process went as smoothly as possible and we should be closing escrow in 2 days. Yee haw.
Before we had made a decision, we interviewd 6 other direct lenders. Andrew is the man and would go back to working with him any day.
Andrew knows his business and the rest of the team supports him nicely. His assistants will respond to emails/calls within minutes and Andrew himself will explain every number and every step of the way.
He actually listens and makes you feel comfortable about spending money, which is great given how stresfull the process could be.

Andrew and his team are so knowledgeable. I can't recommend them enough. I had a very complicated purchase with trusts, attorneys, parents and the works. Andrew came through, explaining everything at every step. He was patient with "stupid questions" and I felt like he was protecting my interest.
In addition to excellent customer service and expertise, he is an all-around nice guy! I came to Andrew because of his excellent Yelp reviews. The Yelp community comes through again! -

If you're looking to purchase a new home this should be your first stop!
My fiance and I were in the market for a new home but we were first time homebuyers so we had no clue where to begin. We wanted to make sure we had all our bases covered before meeting with a realtor to start really looking into homes. So we figured we'd yelp our soon to be lender. We came across Stewart & Soss Mortgage and decided to give them a call. From the very first day I made that call they have been more than helpful. They are always quick to respond and to top it off they were absolutely KNOWLEDGEABLE.
My case was UNUSUAL and EXTREMELY difficult. Andrew and his team made the impossible, POSSIBLE! We're definitely going through them when we purchase our next home.. If you're in the market don't hesistate to meet with them. They definitely keep it real and will let you know from the very beginning whether or not you'll end up with a home =)

This review is long overdue. And it comes from almost-clients who regret not having had the opportunity to do business with Andrew Soss.
Exactly a year ago, my husband and I purchased a new condo from a builder (KB Home) and were looking for a good rate on a loan.
Andrew was one of the first people we contacted, who actually gave us information on the process. Being newbies, this was absolutely the most valuable thing for us. He took the pains to explain our options to us, tailoring a lot of it to our specific situation. In particular, we had a slight problem with our credit, which, along with the condominium penalties, was pushing our rate through the roof. Andrew suggested the option of a 15 year loan, which we had never considered, and ultimately this ended up being the best option for our situation.
The second issue we ran into was that our builder forced us into signing up for their in-house lender, in exchange for credits towards the home. They had verbally agreed to let us shop around and find a better rate if possible (and agreed to let go of the in-house requirement if we did), so we continued the process with Andrew. The sad part of the story is that ultimately they did not relent, even though Andrew offered us a better rate than their lender did. All this time, Andrew was completely aware of the situation, but he still went out of his way to help us- sometimes by bearing certain fees upon himself, sometimes by exposing potential loopholes, and sometimes by talking directly to our builder to explain what they ought to be doing for us.
We felt really bad that we couldn't move forward with Stewart and Soss, but we've been recommending them to family and friends ever since then (and they have all been super-happy with the service they got from Andrew). Thanks Andrew! -

Andrew and team worked tirelessly to not only make sure we got the best mortgage to fit us, but to make sure that everything went as smoothly as possible throughout the entire process from our first tentative inquiries (before we were even clients and he had to hold our hands to talk us through all the mumbo-jumbo financial stuff) all the way past closing. I highly recommend!

My wife and I stopped by one evening to Andrew's office and he gave us a rundown of the market and later that week was able to give us a pre-qualification.
We also spent some time with Michelle and him to look at homes. They immediately figured out the things we wanted, and were very on the ball and able to find out information about properties immediately.
Andrew also has a good personality - which made looking at houses a bit more enjoyable. -

Andrew and his team at Steward & Soss were awesome. We were first time homebuyers, coming in with very little knowledge about the house buying process. Andrew met with us and stayed late on a friday night to make sure he had completely answered all of our questions. He obsessively checks his email so you can always expect a fast response from him. Met with andrew after looking up reviews on yelp. He explained the entire mortgage process and all stuff related to it in detail. And worked with energy and patient. The whole experience was very rewarding and I got to learn many things. He was also able to shop me the best rate and prepared required documents quickly. Due to some restrictions on my side I ended up going with another mortgage broker, however I would highly recommend meeting with andrew for all your mortgage related questions/needs.

Believe the hype. I'm not surprised everyone on yelp feels the same way I do about Stewart & Soss. I would highly recommend them to anyone. Nick Niemeyer really understands the business and will explain everything thoroughly. The process can be confusing for those who are unfamiliar with it, but he makes it quite easy to understand. You definitely get the sense that he cares and wants to satisfy his clients--excellent customer service. He is professional, honest, extremely knowledgeable, and definitely has his clients best interest at heart. What more could you want? So, I finally get to do business with S&S. Let me tell you, this was the easiest refi I have ever been a part of. I work in the financial industry and have referred many folks to S&S but was never able to use them directly. After my original mortgage and my refi last year, I was tired of all the "crap" and "hoops" you have to jump through to get your loan processed. Everything they needed from me was asked of me in concise email, which I then attached all my info back to them. 3 weeks later, I sign my loan docs, in the comfort of my own home. Done and done!

Andrew at Stewart & Soss was by far the best person I worked with while shopping for a purchase loan. We met to discuss my options, and from the beginning he was very respectful in learning my situation and understanding what I was looking for. Once we had my information down, he instantly found me loans with very competitive rates and gave honest opinions about them. I had done my homework and agreed with his analysis, so I would have applied for the loan right there if I had a signed purchase contract.
As I was waiting to get into a contract, I occasionally emailed Andrew with updates and questions. Every time, I got quick responses with very useful information along with updated quotes which continued to be excellent. Once, he not only answered my question but also gave additional helpful information related to it.
I didn't end up getting my loan here for completely unrelated personal reasons, but if things were different I wouldn't hesitate to get it from Andrew. His great professionalism and honesty make him extremely pleasant to work with, and he has the expertise to deliver the best options for your loan. When I explained that I wasn't doing my loan with him, he immediately understood and agreed with my decision, and even offered advice going forward. I highly recommend Stewart & Soss for anyone looking for home financing. -

Kasey, Andrew and Michelle helped us to find our house. Working with them was great, they were always willing to explain terms and processes whenever I was not sure what was being referenced. They were very patient (It took us almost a year to get the house we wanted). And their estimates for how much of a bid would win a house was always spot on. I would recommend them to anyone looking for a Realtor. And they got me an excellent loan as well.

Stewart & Soss just completed the a refinance on our house, after a year of patiently keeping an eye on interest rates for us and answering many questions. Andrew found us the number we were looking for, and it became even lower just prior to the signing. His recommendations on how to structure our refinance saved us hundreds of dollars per month. We were very impressed about how simple the process was.
With all of the scary stories in the paper, choosing a broker that you can trust is important, as you are giving every bit of your personal information to them. It is quite stressful in the world today to do that. I am happy we found someone we know is trustworthy and professional.

I'm a skepical, informed, first time home buyer who was new to the San Jose area. I do not react well to pushy sales people and, after I do all my research, I tend to go with my gut feeling. I also own a Real Estate Technology Certification company (http://www.webographer...) that specializes in teaching agents how to become more profitable by using the online tools available to them (REW). So needless to say, I felt qualified to purchase a home and gauge a real estate agent.
I originally walked into Stewart & Soss because I was recommended by some friends to look into a mortgage broker, and I needed a prequalification letter before my previous RE agent would show me additional homes. I really was not looking for another RE agent.
Andrew and Kasey sat down and ran through all the numbers with me to determine how much I could afford, what I could expect in taxes, PMI, etc with nothing more but their knowledge and a calculator. Andrew also discussed what the market was like in terms of FSBO (for sale by owner), short sales and foreclosures, as well as why short sales are so difficult to close. I'm an engineer, so I appreciate this sort of stuff. Three days later I had my prequal in hand. The next day I was on their website searching for homes.
I found a few homes using their home search engine, and I emailed them to look at them in person, and they responded immediately. I enjoyed going to look at homes so much with Kasey both because of his friendly, honest, and easy going attitude, but also because of his knowledge of what to look for, and what things to avoid. This was especially helpful because I am a first time home buyer, and there are a lot of unknowns when taking an FHA loan that you need to be wary about.
The kicker was their effort in finding, and securing our perfect home. We visited what was accidentally listed online as an open house. Kasey was able to work it out with the listing agent for us to stop by and speak with the sellers directly to see if they would let us see the home. We went back to the house, Kasey talked us into it, and we spent almost two hours looking at the home and speaking with the sellers. This was the perfect home for us, so we immediately went back to his office, wrote up an offer, and submitted it with a unique cover letter (per Kasey's suggestion) the same day. Kasey spent quite some time on the phone with the listing agent that night, again, talking us into the home. The very next day, the seller accepted our offer and cancelled the open house!
What can I say? The whole experience, from offer to close was 30 days. Andrew locked us into an awesome interest rate, and there were no hiccups or surprises throughout the process. Kasey was able to obtain some credit on the closing costs for us based on the inspection reports which was awesome, and best of all, they passed on some savings from the lender they got back to us while handling the ridiculous amounts of paperwork needed for an FHA loan with ease.
Just an amazing experience from start to finish. They make excellent use of email, fax, PDF email attachments, and have an excellent, clean website. I am looking to invest in additional properties in the near future, and without a doubt, I WILL be using them again. -

I was a first time home buyer and I was clueless about what I wanted for my first home. I still remember going and see my first place with Kasey and saying "let's make an offer", Kasey correctly calmed my enthusiasm and asked we see a few more places to get a feel for what I was looking for.
He was completely right, within a few stops I could tell within seconds of walking into a home if it was something I wanted or not. Kasey knows his stuff, listen to him! He was not only knowledgeable but he's a nice guy, I had a good time looking at houses with him. He worked around my 8-6 schedule and was even available on weekends. Awesome agent!
Andrew his business partner and broker always make it clear what the rates would be and always explained everything clearly. I heard a ton of scary stories about brokers, Andrew destroyed all those common misconceptions. He's an honest guy and its evident when you do business with him.
If you looking for two experts, you can't go wrong with Kasey and Andrew! They come HIGHLY recommended! -

I wanted to refinance my existing mortgage, and I had submitted
my information through one of the mortgage rate websites, and I
was getting contacted by various online brokers and lenders who
quoted me some very competitive rates. But I was a bit nervous
dealing with people who were so far away. Then I went onto Yelp
and I came across Stewart and Soss, with their excellent reviews.
I gave them a call and I told them the best rate quote I had
received so far online, and they offered me a rate which was even
lower. I made the decision to go with Stewart and Soss. A few
days into the process, one of the online agents called me back
and offered me a better rate (as rates had dropped slightly),
I made a quick call to Stewart & Soss, and after crunching the
numbers, they were able to drop their rate to match it. The
whole refinance process went very smoothly, most documentation
went back and forth via Email, and the whole process took 30 days
from start (my phone call to Stewart & Soss) to finish (when I
saw the new deed of trust on the Santa Clara Recorder's website).
When I tell my colleagues and friends the rate I refinanced at,
they can't believe it, and I still can't believe it too.
Stewart & Soss deserve 5 stars from me. As good as it gets! -

I concur with all the great reviews of Andrew Soss and his team. We just completed a refinance that involved a first and second loan with two different banks. Andrew handled all the complexity and got us terrific rates on both. I checked around with other brokers and direct lenders and Andrew's rates were always best. What's even more impressive is that we got the lowest rates from someone who also provided excellent service. Andrew is one of the most responsive people I have ever dealt with, answering all my questions and emails quickly and thoroughly. He really knows the mortgage business inside and out and took whatever time necessary to explain things to my satisfaction. I highly recommend checking with Andrew if you're looking into a mortgage.

Andrew is very good at explaining things and answered all of my questions thoroughly. As a first time home buyer it was important for me to find someone I felt I could trust and who would be patient with me. Andrew helped us find a home that wasn't listed and hooked us up with an interest rate that I haven't heard beaten. We looked at houses for one day and made one offer... done. Great experience!
