2 reviews for Stevenson's Holliday Inn
Summary/Cliff Note's Version: This would be a place that you would stay at if you had no other choice. It is hardly a motel. It seems more like it was converted to a motel from a trailer park or rest stop. This place is a step up from a motel 6 but it is not much better. The tricky extra L in the name is false advertisement which reminded me of a sneaky tactic scammers do when you mistype a URL and are brought to some other ad-ridden website.
Background: I went to Northstar and my friends and I had decided to stay another day. Unfortunately, since this was a spontaneous decision we did not do the proper research into looking for a place to stay. We had called up a local hotel/motel booking agency which gave us the number to "Holliday" Inn. We had thought that we were staying at a legit Holiday Inn, but much to our dismay when we eventually found it (which took a while since we were looking for a Holiday Inn), we were severely disappointed. The room was clean but the amenities looked all run down. The staff was not really attentive either and were a little too laid back for my tastes.

Um...there's not much to add to Andy L's apt description of this place except to tell my tale. The day after Christmas my girlfriend and I decided to go to Tahoe for a spontaneous weekend of skiing at Alpine Meadows. At about noon I went to Expedia fully aware that my options would be limited. Aside from the usual $400 a night places, the Stevenson's Holliday Inn was both the only place available and only $130 a night. Like Andy L I thought that the place was associated with the real Holiday Inn. Needless to say we were shocked when we pulled up. My girlfriend was immediately terrified, thinking this was the kind of place where the so-called "maintenance man" picks up the occasional guest for some extracurricular activity in his dungeon. "It puts the lotion in the basket." The room was utterly disgusting. It was a non-smoking room but there was a cigarette butt on the floor in plain site. On our second night I noticed what I think was a blood stain on (what I thought was) a fresh pillowcase. (I didn't point this out to her.) I understand that when you make last-minute plans you're forced to accept whatever you can get. The least you can do is know exactly what to expect. And oh yeah, it may be a good idea to bring your own sheets.
