3449 Stevens Creek BlvdYou sold me paratrooper boots when I was sixteen. You sold me several shoddy knives that nonetheless gave me days of satisfaction. You have clothing I really do wear. You know what? Fuck it, that's it for the review. I don't want anyone else to come here and fuck up the inventory before I stop by. It can be hit or miss somedays. Disregard.

I needed Dickies, they had em, all sizes, many colors, cuts and styles.
I needed Vans, this place had em, my sizes, colors, styles and cheaper than the mall.
I needed bandanas, this place had em, any color you want.
I needed thermals, yupp, had em.
Now i kinda want a knife and maybe some patches, i know where im going to get em.
This place has freakin EVERYTHING!
And it's pretty cheap compared to REI or some camping supply store.
Friendly staff generally (I've gotten bad days) that joke around with you and help you find anything you need too.
Camping gear, random trek across a jungle equipment, clothing for anything outdoorsey and active, belts, bandanas, knives like crazy, knick knack that might come in handy if your inflatable boat springs a leak on the Amazon...
If you are on your way into the woods for a long weekend and need all the basics to set up camp...this is the place to go. Prices are terrific and the selection ranges from army to camel packs. Great store.
When i first went here i thought it was like a good will because the smell of the place i thought it was all used stuff. Excellent place to get a cheap pair of Dickie's work pants they run about 22$ plus some tax. They also have a big selection on knives, camping stuff, and military stuff. Most of the stuff is quite reasonable on prices. Parking here sucks so i park across the street from the jiffy lube at the furniture place that sells crappy furniture.

My parents are going on a trip for a bit abroad, and I wanted to buy them one of those hide away pockets where they can slip a credit card, some cash, and maybe their passports and be safely inside their pants and away from pick pocketers.
I've been to Stevens Creek Surplus before after I grabbed a slice from A Slice of New York. I felt out-of-place there, because it's not one of the "usual" stores that I would frequent. This place, I thought, was for those that are hardcore into the outdoors with an extensive camping/outdoor survival section. While they do have a section dedicated to that, they have a fairly extensive shoe collection, lots of clothes, and in the front, a section that kinda freaked me out with the number of large knives (and even some machetes!).
They actually a full section that has backpacks, and other things that may be useful for travelling. They had the exact hideaway pocket thing by Eagle Creek that I was looking for, and for only $9! This was a lot cheaper than some of the stores in the mall. I also picked up a combo lock for their luggage that was only $5; $3 cheaper than the ones that I saw at Target!
So, excuse the knives, military uniforms, camping equipment, extensive steel-toed boots/shoes. If you want to find some items that are bit cheaper than what you find at the mall, and don't mind searching for it (remember I LOVE DEALS!) then Stevens Creek Surplus is your place!

Awesome store, HUGE inventory, and more 'stuff' than you could ever need...but still want to buy it.
There's treasures in every corner of this huge store, pop in for 'a quick look round' and you will find your in there for an hour or more.
Need a Rubber Raft Patch Kit or a new pair of Half Cab Vans? Then this is the store for you....
Dickie's work shirts & pants are nearly always on sale or discounted, best place to buy in the Bay Area.
Parking sucks, but there's side streets.
Helpful staff too :o)
I've been shopping here for over 10 years, mostly because the word 'surplus' was in the store name. It is far from being a 'surplus' store in the traditional sense however.
The camping/survival/military gear section of the store is only about 1/3 of the total floor space. The other 2/3 of the store is footwear and dickie's clothing.
A lot of the 'surplus' gear is imitation Chinese or Korean made copies of GI gear being sold as legitimate. The prices are a bit on the steep side, however I must admit I got a KILLER deal on a NEW complete US GI modular sleep system a couple months ago.
A nice selection of knives, from the cheapies to the Kershaws, Cold Steels, and Benchmade varieties.
The only real competition for surplus gear is the Mountain View (since Cambrian closed down years ago).
The staff seems to change more frequently than my taste in girls, and varies from knowledgeable and polite to rude or just plain absent.
They stay open late, but parking is atrocious. I usually park by the Jiffy Lube or JITB.
Used to do Boy Scout discount of 10%, but I've been told they don't do that anymore. 10% for Mil/LEO I think also.
This isn't your typical surplus store. When you think surplus store, you think military gear, military equipment, and possibly camping wares. Stevens Creek Surplus got that, and, ooo, so much more. The typical surplus store wares they carry are quality. This is the only surplus store i know that carries a big assortment of vans in a wide array of colors and styles that is far superior to the ones found in the local malls. Not only that, it is my one stop shop for some dickies, ben davis, and levi's. The prices are reasonable as well. Last, but not least, the staff is friendly and always willing to help. But I have to take off a star for the smell. It's tolerable, but some days it's just too strong.
Who doesn't love Stevens Creek Surplus?!??!!!
OK so I'm sure there are a bazillion people in this area that wouldn't step foot in there. GOOD..better for us!!
I swear my bf & I could literally spend hours in there shopping around. The have a great selection of Dickies, Vans & Levi's...all at reasonable prices.
I bought my sister a killer switchblade there for Christmas!! The list goes on and on with the stuff you can find there.
Only thing that I don't like is the parking situation but hey it's not that big of a deal really.
Parking blows and this place hasn't figured out or doesn't care about comfortable customer lines (there's only room for one person in front of the cash register, everyone waiting in line crowds in the aisles waiting to pay). BUT, this place rocks! How can you go wrong with useless army crap you'll never use (like army uniforms or MREs), cheap camping supplies, and a good stock of jackets, dickies, shoes, and duffel bags.
I come here like once every few years when I need a new camelback water bottle or feel like browsing the aisles and trying on crazy safari hats. All stars for cheap prices and entertainment.

I remember going here way back in my high school days. This was the spot to get fitted with whatever. Levi 501's, Caterpillar boots, Vans, Converse, Carhartt, army fatigues, camping gear, 15inch rambo buck knives, rifles, or your typical gangbanger gear, Dickies, Ben Davis, flannels, pendletons, etc. This aint Valley Fair and they don't have a starbucks kiosk either.
I mean seriously, there is a ton of stuff here. Parking absolutely sucks and it is a bitch and half to get out onto Stevens Creek Blvd. Better to park around the corner.

Huge selection of Army attire, Dickies, Ben Davis and things. If you need work pants, they've got them here, they even have a HUGE selection of Vans. The only problem with it, is that they pile the boxes on top of one another, and people open up the boxes looking for a size/fit that fits them and the employees don't bother putting the shoes in the right boxes. I had trouble finding Vans I wanted. I agree with the parking situation.
I wish they had a better lot or something.

This place rocks. You can find all sorts of cool stuff here. I love just browsing around and seeing what they have. It's a good time for all :)
I feel overwhelmed by the amount of stuff crammed into this store. The aisles are incredibly narrow. They have a great selection of apparel for men but not so much for women. Women's apparel seems to be in one corner of the store near the shoes and then scattered on the other side with hats, scarves, and snow gear. There's parking in front of the store but it seems to be more trouble then it's worth. I usually park on the residential street near the Jack in the Box.

If youre looking for beanies, ski-masks, or any other types of headgear then you need to bring your ass down here. I used to go to the surplus on a weekly basis and pick up beanie caps for as low as 5 bucks....and these beanies are dope, cuz chicks dig it.
Some of the employees there, however, seems as though theyre about to throw themselves onto the busy street of Stevens Creek. Just an observation I always make whenever Im there. so yeah.......

The best way to describe the Surplus store.......
its everything you never thought you needed but did that you couldn't find in a mall. say what?!
The surplus store is the male's answer to Macy's for women. Beanies, workboots, black socks (not dressy ones) Dickies, Ben Davis, pocket knives, lighters, camo.... its all here and its all dirt cheap. It is the only place my grease monkey ,car wrenching , auto body working boyfriend will shop at. Infact, I don't think I could get him to go to Valley Fair with me unless I promised that I would be quick and that we would get to swing by the Surplus store....
They even sell underwear!
So the next time you need to make a quick run for a hat, Vans shoes and a hunting map with night vision goggles...you know where to go.
Great store; unbelievable and affordable prices. This is where I get my thermals from.

Yes I have been here. I was searching for components to finish up my Halloween costume, and what is an army girl without military boots, gun holsters and various other items to complete the look. It was actually really reasonably priced too considering most of the stuff I bought was for one time use.

Since 1998 I've been shopping here. The whole store is filled from top to bottom with every type of camo print and countless military clothing options. Over the years I've mostly done my boot shopping here as they carry over 20 different brands of boots and a multitude of other shoes. Though I have done plenty of my dickies brand shopping here as their selection is almost unbeatable in most of the hard to find colors. Every imaginable type of canvas bag available is carried as well as a very large backpack selection. The work-wear selection is large enough to satisfy the needs for just about any activity and multiple cabinets of knives are stocked with everything from dollar cheapies to larger brands like spyderco and gerber. The prices could be a little better and the employees aren't the greatest in the world, but they will help you find what you need.
This place fits all my clothing needs. Ben's, Dickie's,Carhartt, Levi's,Doc's, Van's, Carolina's, thermals, beanies, belts, knives, and lots of other stuff I want and need one stop shopping for sure. I usually go 2 or 3 times a year and buy a bunch of clothing and shoes all at once. No Hollister, Aand F, G-unit, Ecko, J-crew,Pink,or any of that other crap for the mall loving nautical star tatted fake ass MTV loving losers. Good solid clothes and knives for real people. Here's to never seeing the inside of a mall again. That goes for you too Darby.
So um, this is where I get most of my clothes. There is an endless supply of clothing in the only colours I wear, black and army green. A lot of my sweaters came from here, in the section with all the old military garb. This is also where I get cheap Vans and Levi's, avoiding the crowds at the mall. They also have Dr Marten's here, and if you look closely, you can find some that were make in the UK (most of them, however, were made in Malaysia). Unfortunately they no longer carry my beloved 8065 Mary Jane Docs, but I will recover from that eventually.
Enormous selection of wooly socks, thermal underpants, plain t-shirts and hoodies, and OMFG, KNIIIIIIVES ! I already have one that works perfectly fine for me (which I bought here) but when that one becomes obsolete or is no longer to my liking, I'm going to have a hard time choosing a replacement here.
Love the camping gear, too. Cast-iron skillets are available at good prices, and I got a cast-iron cornbread pan which shapes your cornbread into... COBS OF CORN ! It's the corniest thing I've ever bought, and I love it. No one will ever be able to pry it from my cold, dead hands.

This place is OK. Their prices are OK, decent at best. I'd come here every so often to buy Dickies for my cousin, brothers, friends, self, etc. and they're pretty expensive compared to some places.
They have a really big and nice selection of camo, army gear, workmen's clothing, and other random necessities.

It's ginormous and has a ton of stuff. If you can't find outdoors stuff here, then you might want to look into making it yourself because it probably doesn't exist.
The aisles are small, so if you got a ghetto booty like I do, then watch out when you're squatting down to find that size ten pair of shoes on the bottom shelf.
This is the only place during this time of year where I could find white pants. Awful parking situation, but either way this is a cool place cause I can shop for clothes in peace here while my boyfriend entertains himself with knives and boomerangs.
When I was a dark, angst-ridden teenager there was no better place for me to spend my dad's money on steel-toed boots and camouflage pants, except maybe Spencer's, but they weren't as authentic or as cheap.
This place has everything you need to outfit yourself if you're into looking like a an angry, militant kid. If that's not your thing it has a lot of really great stuff for camping. But seriously, everybody needs a good carving knife, go to Stevens Creek Army Surplus.

This place has the best deals on your everyday urban jungle needs. I've bought a $6 switchblade, $3 military belts, and tons of other things in the past 5 years. One of these days I'm gonna stop by and get one of those fancy pocket knives, cause who knows when I'm gonna need a pair of scissors or a corkscrew.

The workers here are incredibly helpful in locating whatever you're looking for. I was looking for a pair of vans and the guy was able to find some for me. I used to buy all my work pants here because they always had my size and was always the best price.

Oh my goodness! Who knew there was a gem hidden on Stevens Creek! I went in there looking for folding knives (for camping, stabbing anyone who messes with me (jk!!)!) And lo and behold, they had a generous selection. I use to go to We Be Knives in SF, just coz of the sheer selection they have there. This place is definitely cheaper! And whatever they don't have in stock, they'll order it in for you. hallelujah!! The people behind the counter are so freaking HELPFUL. It took me nearly 2 hours to decide on a knife and the guy was cool with it the whole time. Even I felt like killing myself, coz I couldn't decide!!
Not only that, I ended up stocking up my camping gear and hats! I love hats of every imaginable kind and I went absolutely nuts when I saw their selection. Almost got the safari hat but my friend was gonna shoot me if I walked out with it! Haha! I WILL definitely go there again. Just need some stupid excuse to go there and zoom.. off I go! Hmm.. I think I might need new laces and some bungee rope......
Lots and lots of VANS and Dickies. But i don't really like this place because it's sooo stuffy in there. Plus, I don't get a "good feeling" due to all the shelves and walls full of STUFF. It's quite overwhelming..
This is the only place I've ever seen that can even *think* of holding a candle to Dom's Outdoor in Livermore. But then, it totally blows Dom's away, so that's saying a LOT.
They have EVERYthing you ever needed in terms of workwear - Dickies, Carhartt, and all sorts of linesman boots, garage jackets, and even flight suits and nomex (flame retardant) coveralls. This isn't even touching on all of the long underwear and the massive selection of socks and thermals and and and... I was amazed!
On top of that, they've also got a great selection of camping gear, including some vintage/surplus items, and one of the largest selections of bags and backpacks I've seen in some time. Last but not least, they also carry knives and multitools (what surplus place doesn't these days?) and they are the ONLY place I've been able to find real, honest-to-god *sock garters*.
Stevens Creek Surplus, I salute you!
Steven's Creek Surplus is one of the biggest surplus stores I've seen. Like Dickies? Ben Davis? Vans? Doc Martens?...They got it here and THEN some! The prices are a real bargain too! Defintely worth your time!

When I visited, the store was extremely dirty and disorganized. Merchandise lay all over the floor, or in boxes stacks against the wall. The bathroom had merchandise stored in it to save space. The staff were also unhelpful, they refused to answer specific questions about merchandise, and flat out refused to check to see if there were items in stock, only telling me that there was "plenty". When I asked how many they had, they only said they had "plenty" and countered by demanding to know how many I wanted.
"Going commando" has a whole new meaning here.
This place is ridiculous. I recently came to get stocked up for my trip to Africa, and I was blown away. They have a huge selection of hiking/military/police force boots, camping gear, out door and work clothes, hats and everything else you need come apocalypse.
I wasn't in there 10 minutes and almost EVERY employee in the store asked me if I needed something. One of them was a native Ethiopian and he helped me more than those goddamn Lonely Planet books. As I was browsing, he came up to me with an Colombia water proof jacket in my size.... ON SALE just because he "thought I could use it". Perfect fit, all weather Columbia jacket originally $120 for $30.
Are you shitting me??
They also had a lot of army issue (BDU's, flashlights etc), tactical and enforcement gear if you ever want to "take the law into your own hands"... I'm sorry, I've always found guerrillas very hot.
So all in all:
-All terrain boots on sale $90 to $62
- Jacket $120 to $30
- Army issue flashlight $11
- Water proof travel bags $4
- Fire starters $6
- Fanny Pack (shut up assholes, it's useful and really cool) $5
- I'm going to Africa bitches.... priceless
Oh... and while checking out, I saw the most Rambo-esue man buying a "present" for his brother... a Mortal Combat style crescent hand knife. I know what I want for my birthday!!

What a find ! We found all kinds of stuff we need for our camping trip. We had a tent, but needed stakes. We had a tarp, but needed a way to erect it so we didn't crispi-fy in the heat. We needed so many things and found it all plus great prices and good service, too. I felt like I was in a scene from Pulp Fiction there, but it was all good. Lots of hats, ditty bags, snake bite kits, knives, fishing gear, boots, etc etc
3 stars for having everything anyone could possibly need. heck, i might even find my halloween costume here. 1 star for parking right in front.
-1 star for snobbiness. the people on the floor are nice, but some at the register isn't friendly at all. what? no smiles?
i guess it's because i bought some EMT pants and returned them because i got them cheaper somewhere else. what's wrong with that?
anyways, i find some of things marked pretty high. i can find most stuff cheaper elsewhere..ie...ebay...or i just have to drive around instead of getting everything from one spot....but i must say, if you're willing to spend a little more money, they're very well stocked.
This place is great for a lot of things and prices are reasonable. Military gear, camping/outdoor/travel goods and supplies, boots and shoes, many styles of hats, work clothes, bags...it goes on and on.
The selection here is amazing; the store is located on Steven's Creek Blvd. right after Valleyfair and right before the car dealerships. The store is not *too* big, but big enough that I got lost in here and couldn't see over the aisles because they were taller than 3 of me AND was a little scared that some creepy/scary worker guy would kidnap me ;( :( However, there was this one Indian cashier guy who was super nice to me :D
To give you a very brief overview of what they sell:
-Thermals for men (and women) for my dad that I could not find or was sold out at Wal-Mart or Target.
-All the colors of the rainbow you can image of Dickie's shorts and shirts.
-Military/ Camping equipment, accessories, and clothing in the back of the store is super cool and feels like another whole separate store.
-I also replaced my PINK Swiss Army knife here that was taken away from me at the SF Airport. They have all the colors and styles in stock.
-Flasks ;D
-A whole wall of army medals
-I only glanced at the shoe section because I didn't need any, but they had a full 2 aisles of them.
headgear for cheap! hats, beanies, skullys, barres... yup. your fashionable choice of "thinking caps" at your disposal. go ahead. mosey about and find some choice pieces to add to your arsenal of dome accessories. :)
