Dr. Koenig was the attending physician when I ended up in the NYEE with a weird eye problem. He rules. If only all doctors were as comforting, explanatory, and competent..
I recently switched to his private practice for my main eye doctoring needs, which was a great move.
Hate to break the five star chain but...
Dr. K is definitely very, very nice, actually calls you back and follows up like I've never seen anyone do before. He seems to know his stuff.
So why 3 stars:
Can't get anything in the receptionist's (gatekeeper) head. She sounds like she speaks/understands English but I've my doubts; she could just be not very bright anyway. I called to make an appt for HARD contacts and the receptionist said that not only did they fit HARD contacts but insurance would pay for it too. I was very, very pleasantly surprised but wanted to confirm that she was indeed talking about HARD contacts and she said yes, HARD contacts.
Went to my appt., which I confirmed with the receptionist as one for HARD contacts and did all the tests etc. At the end dr. K gave me a prescription for my current SOFT contacts. I told him I was under the impression I was getting fitted for HARD contacts and he said they don't really do fitting for HARD contacts there, that they can but it takes too long or something so he referred me to someone else.
WTF?!
The first thought in my mind was "so if I'd come in for cataracts surgery they might have scheduled me for removal of left eye."
I was able to get an appointment for the next day for an eye infection. I didn't have to wait long once I was there, and Dr. Koenig and his staff were pleasant and professional. I was very satisfied with my visit and would highly recommend him.
Ana A... I'm with you. I can't continue with the hype. While the technical parts of my exam were fine and the space was clean, the rest of my experience was lackluster. After my visit, I sought out other options and actually looked outside of the city for other options after several negative experiences with opthomologists. I found Dr. Koenig because of Yelp. Dr. Koenig was friendly enough but slightly awkward and totally not understanding and compassionate about of people with certain disabilities from my perception. I did not have a good experience and will not be returning.I left frustrated, offended, and outraged by his retrograde approach. I'm glad others had a nice experience but I will not return. In the end, his prognosis differed from what I received from another doctor for two specific questions I had, and I'm glad I sought out multiple opinions. I learned a lot from the experience but was sort of traumatized to be truthful.
He has been my eye doc for several years now, and his office is located not far from where I work. I don't particularly fancy his office set-up or the building, but he is an incredibly kind, knowledgeable and even-keeled doctor--just the type you would trust your eyes with :)
Meanwhile, I wonder why he has a penchant for dilating my eyes and giving me an excuse to appear incapable of working, this time on account of being hard of sight.
I found Dr. Koenig totally by mistake and I am so glad I did. This doctor is amazing and I am writing to recommend him to anyone looking for a quality doctor. He is kind, patient, and walks you through the whole process. Confirming the comments of others, he is knowledeable, professional and very recommended. YOU WILL NOT BE SORRY!!!
First time meeting Dr. Koenig. Extremely nice, professional, fit me in quite quickly for appointment (next day!), nice office staff. A plus. I highly recommend.
DR. Koening was patient and kind, did a thorough job answering all my questions during the eye exam. highly recommend!
The reviews are 100% correct. Dr. Koenig is great! I got an appointment one week after I called. The office is run extremely well. Dr. Koenig explains everything that he is doing in detail and is extremely knowledgeable. He even spends the extra time to see if you have any questions or concerns. A + highly recommended.
