Dr Steve is one of the best dentists that I have ever been to. His office is clean and his staff professional. But the very best thing about him is his conservative approach to dentistry.
I have been lucky enough to have very good teeth with very little problems. However, a few years ago I broke a molar eating chewy candy and literally a quarter of my tooth was missing. I was freaking out, thinking I was for sure going to need a crown (expensive!!). Dr. Steve gave me an exam and determined he could fill the tooth instead of doing a crown. My tooth looked as good as new and a fraction, and I mean fraction of the cost.
My son also sees Steve. He is 4 and seems to have an invisible target on his two front teeth. He has bashed his mouth more times than I can count and Steve has always taken great care of him. I don't know he does it, but he manages to get my son to sit still during the visit!
If you are looking for an honest dentist with a gentle touch then you need look no further. =) -

My family and I live abroad and visit the Bay Area once a year. Whenever we come back we make sure to stop by and see Dr. Kolokithas for checkups and any necessary dental work. He is such a great dentist. One story illustrates my point.
A few years back we went to the Bay Area during the holidays. I went in for a checkup and while there, Dr. Kolikithas discovered one of my front teeth was dying from the inside. He said that I might need a root canal, but since it was the holidays his office was closed for the next few days. Since we were leaving within that time frame, he asked me to come in to fix my tooth ON HIS DAY OFF, ON CHRISTMAS EVE! I have never heard of a dentist or other medical professional being so considerate of his patients and their schedules.
I cannot recommend him highly enough. YELP should have a ten star ranking system just for him! -

Good dentist with anger-management problems.
If it's a simple crown or filling and you don't wince when he injects you, he's great. Otherwise, watch him pop off. It's not pretty. -

My friend Marisa recommended Dr. Kolokithas after I put it out on Facebook that I was having a dental crisis - my old dentist, Dr. Wakasa in San Mateo who I had seen for years, screwed up one of my teeth in replacing a filling causing a lot of pain. When I saw Dr. K (not sure if he likes to be called that), noticed it was in very bad shape and also discovered another tooth which was heading in the direction of that one, as well as 2 other cavities and some more minor issues that the other dentist never spotted. And to do this, they use high tech x-rays, intraoral cameras, which all let us see the problem and it's fascinating.
While I am not jumping up and down about months ahead of novocaine and drills, I am thrilled that these issues have been discovered before they got worse due to a serious lack of attention by my prior dentist, who I am on a rampage to get in trouble!
Also, Lori at the desk is super nice and very helpful, combined with Dr. K and the hygienist who I had who I regretfully forgot her name all listened to my story and now that we have a treatment plan, are also willing to work with me at my pace and figure out how to afford it considering the prior dentist leeched my Delta Dental account. -

Serioulsly. Dr. Steve may be the best dentist in the peninsula. In additional to doing great family dentistry, he is truly an artist when it comes to cosmetic restructuring. After seeing the effects of his craft on both my partner and my own grille, I am convinced that he is the best bang for your buck.
The entire office staff is extremely friendly and helpful, not to mention flexible.
I'm a HUGE fan of the high tech digital x-rays. I love that they're fast. I love that they have great resolution. I REALLY love how green they are for the environment (no toxic film chemicals needed).
Great stuff people. Seriously great stuff. -

I have an extreme fear of the dentist's office. My boyfriend recommended Dr. Kolokithas and has been going to him for years. I have to agree that the staff at this office is the nicest I've ever met and really helps me relax. I found out last year that I would have to have all four of my wisdom teeth removed; Dr. K recommended an oral surgeon and in October they were all taken out. The oral surgeon who pulled my wisdom teeth out was great as well. (: I love this dentist and will never ever go anywhere else. He has helped me take better care of my teeth just by reducing my anxiety of going to his office in the first place! lol

Dr. Steve has been our family dentist for many years, first in San Carlos and now in Redwood City. He takes great care with our varying needs, ranging from preventive dentistry to replacing fillings and creating crowns, always keeping in mind what's best for us. His use of state-of-the-art equipment and procedures produces great cosmetic dentistry results, too. His staff is courteous and helpful, and the office well-run. I happily and confidently refer friends and clients to Dr. Steve, knowing he'll give them top-notch care.

I am terrified of the dentist (that should be an all caps TERRIFIED), and I finally went to see Dr. Steve on referral from some yelpers here. I haven't been to the dentist in about 5 years or so, and finally dragged myself in because I had such a bad cavity. This dentist is the first one who hasn't asked me if I wanted my teeth whitened or tried to refill all my existing fillings with the white stuff. He is the first dentist who has tried to accommodate my jaw problem and my irrational fear of dentists. He is the first dentist who directed me to a TMJ specialist who can actually help me with my jaw and headache problem. I've been to his office twice while kids have been in the office. He is so nice to them and describes fun stuff about teeth. I wish my childhood dentist had been so cool! Anyway, thanks to the yelpers who messaged with me about this dentist. Everyone at the office there is totally nice and super excellent. My x-rays went much better than previous places (the digital x-rays are nifty too) and my cleaning went really really well. This dental office is way better than any place I've every been. Oh, and my Delta Dental insurance covers almost all of the work I've had done so far. The x-rays were the same price. The new patient exam was $12 more. It's always nice not to get gouged by your dental bill. One thing to be aware of--the parking lot is very small. Lucky for me, I can walk there. Check out Dr. Steve's web site for more info. I really liked how much info I found there and he doesn't use one of those stock web sites that so many dentists have. Oh, the office is computer savvy. I even got an email reminder for my cleaning appointment. I would definitely recommend this place to my friends.
