Great place to take children under 6. Older kids will probably be bored. I took my grandson here when he was 5 and he had a blast. He really enjoyed the interactive exhibits.
And yes - man can this place get crowded. Uncomfortably so. So much that though he had a good time, I did not...
OK, so we probably shouldn't have gone on the one day everybody was off from school, but our family decided on a spur of the moment to try this museum on the way to New York.
The place was incredibly crowded when we went; There was a wait to get in because the place was at its maximum limit. But after a little waiting (like 10 minutes at their cool souvenir shop), we were let in.
Much much smaller than the Liberty Science Center, but much more child centered, this place is a wonderful place for children aged 2-7. Since my kids were 4 and 7, this was the perfect day to discover something new and marvel at the wonder of science. You first enter into "Water Works" where children play with water to their heart's content. Warning: Children get wet regardless of the smock the museum offers.
My favorites were similar to Jennifer's. I loved the Lego raceway, the fog maker, the pulley system and the making of the roller coaster. It was also fun just building blocks with my daughter. Everything's much more fun when you are surrounded by children in intrigue.
Although this place is a tiny sized discovery museum (and a little bit like a mini indoor playground), it is well designed: beautifully architected both inside and out. However, the down side is the pricing. For 9 bucks per person, the five stars comes down a notch to four.
