Nice place to stop in for a coffee and a bite to eat in Phoenixville. I was hanging out with a friend I hadn't seen in awhile. We wanted lunch but we wanted a place where we could sit for a long time and catch up. This coffee shop definitely fit the bill.
The chicken salad sandwich was tasty, with walnuts and grapes mixed in. Service was a little weird, but friendly. -

Not your typical coffee house. They offer a wide range of foods and their endless cup is a nice touch. Certain nights they have local bands and singer/songwriters perform on their stage.
I come here to read my cooking magazines and enjoy a few cups of coffee. -

Found their breakfast must have's and now I stop by nearly every day.
Oatmeal, toasted marshmellow latte, almond biscotti. My days are better on the mornings I stop here.Listed in: Best of Phoenixville

This place IS so friggin cool!! Saw Jeffrey Gaines Saturday night, my first time there. What a cozy, intimate place to see live music. The sound was terrific, must be great accoustics, not really loud, perfect. With general admission tickets at a very reasonable price, $20, we were sitting just three rows of tables back from the stage.
The person at the door was very helpful, the staff behind the counter serving coffees, cakes, and related good stuff, were very friendly and courteous.
There is $4 per person corkage fee if you BYOB. Not too bad considering how much you would pay for drinks if they had a bar.
Highly recommended! -

A good place to go for a good drink. A tad expensive. My wife loves the place but I prefer the Artisans Cafe up the street. They used to have some good sandwiches but the menu has recently changed and I am not much of a fan of the change. It is a fun place to go see a band or an open mic night.

Super cool vibe and glad it's just a few blocks away from me. All neighborhoods need a place with this kind of diversity. There's really not much I can add to what's already been said. The baristas provide great service and are always very laid back. I can't speak to the hot food offerings because I never get them at coffeehouses but I've never been disappointed by the coffee or tea.

Reminds me of Jammin Java in Vienna, VA....It's got the feel of a music venue, that happens to sell coffee. Geared towards the music & arts crowd of greater phoenixville, the stage and walls are plastered with the offspring of local artists. Quality stuff! Not too sure of the bean quality, no dates or freshness standards anywhere near their bean wall/display. Looked sketchy. Manager seemed more of a venue manager...not coffee house manager. Yes, the vanilla chai is indeed exceptional. Pastries brought to you by the Handcrafted Cookie Company, right around the corner.

A sizable coffee house that has a stage. I'm certain if there were poetry slam organizers in the area this would be the place to go.
They have a variety of coffee and breakfast meals. I only had coffee. The staff was great! I love the atmosphere. -

I'm not much of a cafe-goer, most of the time, but when I was working on a writing project and needed a place to work that wasn't my house or my regular office, Steel City turned out to be fantastic. (For one thing, it was summer, and my house has no A/C.) Bottomless in-store cup of coffee, usually excellent, for about $1.60. Lots of amusing sweet drinks for two to three dollars. Good-quality bagels, decent salads and sandwiches, less-than-stellar sweet baked goods (stay away from the pain au chocolat, it was disappointing). All prices basically quite reasonable. Usually pretty quiet but never dead. During the day, there's always an interesting collection of ne'er-do-wells hanging out, smoking at the few tables out front. I'm told that in the evenings there's usually live music, but since I have a two-year-old and an eight-month-old at home, I don't do evenings anymore.
Oh, and if you care about such things -- free Wi-Fi. -

So we all have seen Phoenixville's commercials. You know, the ones that say how cool it is to hang out in Phoenixville. Anyway, Steel City has been around since before Phoenixville was the new hip place to be for young professionals and just married folks.
In high school, my sex-ed teacher told me to go here. I avoided the place like the plague purely out of fear but then I looked the place up and realized it really was up my alley. Turns out he was spot on, so I also owe him a thank you.
Steel City has that coffee shop vibe. They have live music and open mic nights. Sometimes you have to pay a cover of a couple bucks. The musicians play on a tiny stage in front of a massive sculpture/painting of trippy city. It's the type of place where you can lounge, eavesdrop on your neighbors, people watch and most importantly inhale caffeine.
During the summer Phoenixville hosts lots of different outdoor events. Steel City has bathrooms. If nature is calling, stop in for a little relief and a fresh beverage!Listed in: Bathroom Obsession, Coffee (or tea!) houses, and…

Add us to the Steel City fan list. Just had a great cup of coffee, sandwich, and sampled my wife's vanilla chai latte. As another Yelper pointed out, the vanilla chai latte's at Steel City are delicious. The coffee was darn good two. I had a medium roast that was just right. We split a chicken salad sandwich on whole grain bread. The chicken salad had grapes and walnuts, and I love me some chicken salad with grapes.
Every time I'm in Phoenixville the place seems to be come better and better. Steel City will now be our go to coffee stop when in Phoenixville.Listed in: Breakfast Places in North…

Apple danish, house coffee, recently purchased paperback of Harry Potter 7. Yeah, I'll take it.
Nice atmosphere, free wifi.
I'll have to go back and try some more substantial food. -

Great selection of loose tea and coffee. Always a great collection of artwork from both local and distant artists, awesome atmosphere, free wifi, good company, excellent food, new stage and sound booth make a huge difference and a great venue for musicians. Owner mentions many new and exciting changes on the way, which I am totally looking forward to.

I returned to Steel City recently to see my roommate's brother play at open mic night, ordered a vanilla chai tea & remembered exactly why I loved it so much. More people show up nowadays & it's very cool to see the mix of people. I could have done without the young kids I overheard bragging about how many forties they could chug without having a hangover, though.

nice chill, coffeehouse vibe and decent chai and coffee. we didn't get our free coffee refill because a certain stingy staff member took away the mug when no one was looking, but oh well, it was cheap enough.
saw a show that night which was fun, although the performers really needed to work on their in-between-songs banter. other than that, we only left reluctantly when the second band starting dedicating songs to jesus. -
Review from Melissa R.

Their coffee is over priced for really small sizes, it's completely over-rated. It's really annoying to go there on concert nights because you can't stop in just to get coffee without having to pay the cover charge.

Steel City Coffee House is a very interesting place. To start out, the coffee is great. We sometimes buy the coffee beans, and make espressos at home. The atmosphere is welcoming, and has a bit of spunk in it. I'm not sure the schedule, but often times when I walk in, there is a live band playing. It is definitely something to experience at least once in your life.

Well, this will be my second time here to Steel City. This how I remember coffee house. Chill people, hangin out, pullin brew, live music. This place has all that. I have yet to experience the music scene, but from a pure brew and vibe aspect.... It kills it. I had autumn brew today(yeah fell for it), and multigrain ham egg and cheese. Pretty taste! definite recommend to hit up when you cruise on in...

I haven't been here at night, which is when it's supposed to be awesome, but I must say I had the best vanilla chai latte of my life here. The service was great too. They were really friendly and there were tons of folks hanging out. Free refills on the drip coffee too!
