Neighborhood: Northeast PortlandI visited this place after checking out The Grotto around Christmas time. Things seemed pretty quiet outside, but to my delight a blues band was wailing away inside. It took us a minute to get seated, but after we had a booth the waiter was great! He gave some great recommendations, and we ended up with some delicious meals.
It was a pleasant evening without a hitch. And it made for an interesting twist that they had seafood (steamed clams?) and had a theme of old steam engines (steamers), thus the name.

It seems like there is slim pickins' for great food in this area of Portland, so I was skeptical about going, but to my surprise the food was very good and the waitress was polite and friendly.
But... slim pickens on the beer selection. Come on, Portland, most mirco breweries but capita and you only have Bud, Miller, etc.? Some people don't like wine, so that's why 1 star was knocked off.
They also had live music playing in the lounge...band was decent, can't say much for the singer.
I will be back, did I mention it was good for large groups and kids? It is.
