Can't even emphasize my disappointment about this place! Stumbled in here with some friends on a Saturday night. Very crowded place that is in need of redecoration/updating. Old and tired pool tables, no place to sit other than the bar and pretty standard drinks. The music was so loud I had to leave after my first drink. Its like being in a shack that has several rooms. If you are planning on going here, skip it and go the place next door (LEVEL Lounge), where the owners obviously spent money on their business to create an atmosphere.
After walking from bar to bar in Bay Ridge on a Saturday night, and not finding the atmosphere we were looking for (see: not ridiculously crowded and not ridiculously loud), we finally stumbled on Status Q. I was a little hesitant about it, cause the signage doesn't really reflect the inside, but when we got in I found it to be pleasant. There was no awful music blaring, like so many of the other bars we'd been to that night. It's not that I don't like music either, but when I have to literally YELL to a person that's a foot and a half away from me, that is not an enjoyable atmosphere. Anyway, at Status Q there are several billiard tables, a fooseball table, darts... The bar itself seemed nice too, several beers on tap. I guess the place was recently renovated, and I could tell since it seemed that they still needed to add a bit of character to the decor. Overall though, this place was what we were looking for. Calm, laid back patrons, enough space to move around, enough places to sit, clean bathrooms, friendly bartender... All in all it was a nice place to end up.

This is a great place to shoot a few rounds of pool. You can almost always get a table, and they are kept in great condition. I prefer it to trekking into the city

There are a few things to note about this place. All good. First, its big, clean, and more clean. I'd feel bad coming in here with a stamp on my hand from the previous night's debacle/club/drinking escapade. Second, its a pool hall. In an area where there should be a pool hall. Bay Ridge. Third, check out the myspace page for this place. Take a look at the kind of friends it has, and you'll see how a good chunk of Bay Ridge operates. Fourth, they have NFL season pass or whatever you call it. Aka, you line up in front of one of their tvs or their big projection screen (its a Jets bar from what I remember) and you request whatever game you want, the bartender is more than happy to oblige. Fifth, there was free hot pasta and meatballs during the game. Greatness was defined in that moment and also when I stated that "I'm proud that girls talk to me" was my greatest high school achievement after some girl said hers was "setting up a school fundraiser to help raise money to fight AIDS in South Africa" in front of 300 people at a luncheon for "Students of Color Achievers" for the greater Albany area. Please shoot any hint of an ego down, this review will continue.
Sixth, I'm a Patriots fan, walking in with my old Drew Bledsoe Pats jersey, into a Jets bar, and the bartender was very friendly and was talking about the game with me. Points there.
Seventh, just them having a myspace page and listing themselves as a straight, 29 year old male from brooklyn says it all. Hilarity.
