3 reviews for Staten Island Zoo
The Staten Island Zoo is much smaller than the humongous Bronx Zoo, but it has a lot of good things going for it. A big portion of the zoo is dedicated to kids. They can jump around like crazy monkeys, climb all over metal tortoises, pet donkeys, feed weird looking chickens, rabbits, ride around on ponies, and stare down sheep, emus and llamas. Aside from the livestock, there are other animals, (like the leopards and the monkeys) which are located in a building the inside of which looks like a cave. Which is cool. There's a little bit of everything in there, snakes, spiders, monkeys, prairie dogs, birds, some animals I've never seen before, so I say, an afternoon at the zoo is well spent. Definitely worth going if you can bear the sight of animals in cages, enclosures and glass aquariums.

I haven't been here in years but my parents used to take me here as a child. There was a great duck pond and petting zoo there.
This is an acceptable zoo from a staten island point of view. It host lots of special children's, seasonal, and cultural events. Familes, parents, and kids can enjoy reptiles, marine life, and my favorite and my younger sister who works in the zoo's cafe favorite, the llamas. For what it is , which is a small, cozy, and simple zoo in a self-proclaimed forgotten borough, its great, as far as being on par with the Bronx zoo, it is not.
