As you walk in, you hear arabic music playing the background, and about 4 or 5 tables in front of the main window.  You walk up to the menu, choose from many middle eastern foods, give your order, and sit down to wait for your order. You don't know what to expect the first time you eat there, but then you get your order (i usually get the beef chawarma and fries) and sit down to a very tasty, very casual lunch. I enjoy this place as it reminds me of many places i used to go to in my home country, but compared to other middle eastern places around Ann Arbor, the food is as equally good as I would expect from my home country. And that says a lot.

One of the best middle eastern restaurants outside of Dearborn. Staff is always friendly. Only down side is the area you use to buss your own tables that needs an update.

    I love this place because:
    - The food is always excellent
    - The service is always excellent
    - The prices are very reasonable
    - Parking is easy and I never wait long to be served.
    - Mo, the owner, is a good guy who is happy to spend time with his customers to get to know who is coming in to his place.

My favorite dishes: hummus with beef/lamb, and the eggplant sandwich w/zaziki.

Love this place.  Every visit, the great food is always consistently delicious.

The Crushed Lentil soup is a must (especially on a cold day). Try it with a squeeze of lemon

With a bowl of soup, I have only the room to handle a sandwich.

My favorite is the Chicken Tawook:  Charbroiled chicken, tomato,  pickles, lettuce and garlic sauce. I have them toss in some chili sauce too. It's all tolled up in a freshly grill pita.

    Always great,  friendly service.

Hard working family run business with good food and good prices- I can get behind that!!  Fantastic middle eastern food. Lemon chicken soup is on point as well as the grilled meat sandwiches. Location is super convenient. Theres ample parking and you dont have to fight downtown traffic. Plus you can sneak over to TJ Maxx for a little shopping... dont worry I wont tell ;)

Stars doesnt have terribly long hours (close at 7pm) but please understand it's family run and people do get tired by the end of the day. Definitely check out Stars Cafe!

No idea why I have never tried this place until now as I am a huge fan of Middle Eastern cuisine but always traveled across town to get my fix.  Chicken lemon rice soup was the best I have ever eaten - super tangy, full of veggies and not gelatinous.  Shawarma sandwich was scrumptious and included potatoes (?) which were unexpected, but delicious.

Had catering from here for an open house a couple of weeks ago. The food (for 30 people) was incredible, and we received so many compliments on it from our guests! We had trays of sandwiches (chicken shawarma, chicken deluxe, and falafal), trays of hummus, tons of pita (we froze half of the bag for later), a couple of trays of fattoush salad, and a hearty platter of baklava. Totally affordable (lass than $10 per person!! Unbeatable!), and plenty leftover for take-away and for the hosts. Cannot recommend this place highly enough for delicious food and courteous, attentive service!

Have moved back to MI, 1 1/2 hours away from Star's, and was meeting friends in A2. Was able to get a big order of their chicken lemon rice soup to go and it's just as good as I remember! Was sooo happy to have it again! And after giving my friends a sample, I know this soup has even more fans. Star's only has soup containers up to 16oz which isn't nearly enough! The guy on the phone said they'll fill your own containers if you want to bring something bigger. Good to know!

As someone who eats regularly at Middle Eastern restaurants, I can say this is one of the best that I have been to. The lentil soup is great. My wife doesn't normally like lentil soup but enjoyed this. The hummus is outstanding, made with a middle eastern chili spice that is excellent. The chicken in the fattoush tawook salad was excellent--well marinated, tasty and perfectly cooked. The fattoush salad has an outstanding vinaigrette--a bit tangy, but not to much vinegar as many restaurants do. The pita is very good, the turkish coffee authentic (let the grounds settle for a few minutes) The owner Mo, and his son are very friendly and take pride in their food. Prices are reasonable. Highly recommended.

Excellent beef schwarma!  But pretty much everything on the menu is fresh and tastey.  I really like their hummus and pita!

Star cafe gets five stars from me!! I love love LOVE their fattoush- secrets in the dressing and the crispy pita chips... Grape leaves are really good- not too vinegary-love!
I usually don't dig shawarma due to overload abroad- but I tried some of hubby's and it was really delicious. I know what I'm getting next time I go in. There will be lots of next times : D

    So good!!!
The best garlic sauce I've had.
It's not too overpowering and it's perfectly creamy. I eat it plain with bread it's so good.

    Awesome for catering.
    Delicious chicken shawarma.

The owner Mo, is terrific-always a pleasure to interact with.
He will go above and beyond for great service.

Very well run restaurant with consistently excellent food.  Their soups and sandwiches are the best.  Personally I like the chicken shawarma sandwich and lentil soup - never disappoints!  Great falafel too!

Star's has excellent chicken shawarma. I usually save half for later because it's so big. I'm in love with their tabbouleh! It contains just the right amount of lemon and is super fresh. Their warm pita and hummus makes a great side as well. I usually add a piece of baklava for a dessert. It's buttery, flaky and has just the right sweetness. The service is fast and friendly. It's a great little restaurant that you don't want to miss.

What's a girl to do when it's a few hours from dinner but she's got a rumble in the tummy when out running some errands? Stop into Star's Cafe for a bit of hummus fuel of course!

Having grown up in Dearborn I'm really picky about my hummus. I don't know how to describe what I like but I know it when I try it. I read the positive reviews for Star's and decided to give them a shot. I'm SO glad I did. Yes, I only did the hummus but that's enough to tell me that this place knows what it's doing. I've rarely eaten at a good Middle Eastern place that has horrible hummus. It's like a weird benchmarker of goodness. Star's is creamy, has a good tang, and is topped with some nice chopped herbs. The pita is fresh and the small is a good size for a snack with some leftover to spare. And it's not terribly expensive--$4.00 for the small with pita. I actually think it's probably a good lunch serving if you were going to eat it all so $4 for lunch isn't bad. I also added the baked pita chips for $2 because I like a little crunch. They were also quite good.

The space is really basic and unassuming. You're not going for the atmosphere. The staff isn't overly warm or chatty but they're helpful and certainly not rude. I stopped in about 40 minutes before they closed and it was a solid rush of people in and out which was a good sign. A few ate in and the food around me looking AMAZING. I was legitimately sad I had dinner plans because I really wanted to order more. Next time!

Just order the hummus with meat, and tell them to make it spicy.

lack of flavor, meat dry, soup runny... i would say very far from the best middle eastern in the area... not even very clean in the place even though its small... even the fattoush dressing had no flavor!  not to mention very small portions.
