Very nice. Continental breakfast was actually really good. The donuts were fresh and not the cheapo donuts that I'm used to. These were the real deal!
Back to the room. It was very nice, accommodating for 4 people. There's a gym, a heated pool, and also a spa. We didn't get a chance to try these out, but hey..it was available to us :) They also have bbq grills if you want to bbq.
It's conveniently located on Tahoe Boulevard...near pretty much everything. Everything was walking distance, so this place scores a 5 for location. About a 5 minute walk to Harvey's and Harrah. And right across from Heavenly ski resort as well. I wish we had time to board, but sadly we didn't.
This is a great place to stay and probably the best place to stay for parents traveling with kids. What is available: a spacious living area, kitchen table available, fridge, sink, extra dishes, etc. I would definitely stay here again.

I've done a pretty exhaustive tour of dumpy hotels in South Lake Tahoe. During ski season I'm up here most weekends and I really sleep around based on the cheapest rate.
Stardust definitely has location going for it - easy access to night life and right across from the Gondola. Location is pretty much it though.
I really don't enjoy the murphy beds and always wake up with a sore back. Just like every other 60's/70's hotel in the area, the walls are thin and it's easy to join your neighbor's conversation *ahem* through the wall. Bring earplugs.
It's the location that makes this an ok place to go.
I have stayed here twice so far but havent in about 2 years. Its good to see recent reviews and happy ones at that!!!
At first site the age of this place would turn one away. First time was a last minute thing so we got a nice little studio. We were surprised that it had a fully stocked kitchen. Only stayed for the night but it was a good one and under $100.
Second time was a planned trip w/ about 12 people. We booked 3 suites from 1-2 bedrooms. All were kick ass and were under $120 per night. We stayed for two nights this time. Decor is old but its cozy. Everything was clean and again, fully stocked kitchens in all suites. The double headed showers were kick ass for a couple =) and the mirrors in the room made things interesting =)
I would recommend this place to anyone that can get past rooms that look like they belong in the late 80's.
Stardust South Lake ROCKS!!!

In South Lake Tahoe, it can be hard to find a decent hotel room. Since I frequent the town quite often, I have had several occasions where I have been stuck in really crappy hotel rooms where I have been afraid to touch the bed.
So I was really pleased with my room at the Stardust. It was clean, and had a lot of conveniences like a microwave, VCR, radio, fridge and a shower with two shower heads. The room was a little 80's- red carpet and furniture and some very 80's lamps. But it was really clean and the staff was very friendly.
One of the best parts about the stay is that it is so close to the casinos!

We had a wild weekend. We drove to Death Valley, stayed in a haunted opera house, drove to Vegas for a few hours, ended up in Pahrump, Nevada, at the Pahrump Nugget (which deserves its own yelp review as well, for being awesome). We took off to Yosemite, got roadblocked and ended up in South Lake Tahoe on the last night of our trip. This place was a bright shining star, we were drawn in by the bitchin' sign. Turns out, this place is fucking rad. We got studio room at a ridiculously low rate. Our room had a murphy bed that was really cozy, tv, dvd player, fridge, microwave, couch, dining table, and a two headed shower! After our long day of driving, several beers, and a burrito, I passed out quite happily in this sweet little room. Oh yes, we will be back.

My cousin and her family are timeshare owner and was able to secure a space at this lodge. Great location and just right across from the Heavenly Gondola. Walking distance to all the casinos and main strip of South Lake Tahoe to the Nevada borderline. Rooms were decent, a lil on the older side but free wireless for timeshare owners and the housekeeping cleaned all the dishes!
