This place has the best whole wheat hand-tossed  pizza crust in the world.

If you've always been wary of a whole-wheat pizza, try it. This will convert you. Really, it's fanfreakintastic. It's just so amazingly good. I never order the white crust anymore. Even my pizza purist friend likes it!

If you haven't tried Star pizza yet, what the hell have you been waiting for? No, it's not NY style, and their Chicago style pizza isn't great. But the handtossed pizza is the best you will find in Houston.

The BEST.

I suppose in any other case I would have docked a star for putting the Disney Channel on a 50 inch screen (upstairs). I mean, wtf.. there was a game on.  But the bottom-line is that I have NEVER been disappointed here. The pizza always tastes the same, and it's always excellent. It's rare to find a restaurant that ISN'T a hit-or-miss.

Five stars for being consistently excellent.

I feel almost dirty writing a review for this place. For me, describing their pizza is almost like writing an erotic novel. This is by far my favorite restaurant ever.

The eclectic waitstaff is almost always friendly and attentive, the Austinish vibe at the Washington location is something that's a little difficult to replicate, but they pull it off just fine. Some people complain about how their pizzas are "mediocre" and how the wait time is ridiculous, but I think they're doing it all wrong --

For starters, Star isn't Star without the roasted garlic. As a child (that's how long I've been coming here, my parents would bring us when it was still where Chatter's is today.), I was skeptical of the goat cheese and garlic, but once I finally tried it as a teenager, I virtually never pass on ordering it. The garlic makes the wait time infinitely more bearable. I'd compare it to a fluffer, but I'm really trying to steer clear of the erotic theme.

Every single pizza on the menu is a masterpiece, but my personal favorites are the Ben's and the Joe's. The Joe's, which is a simple spinach & garlic topped pizza, is the best pizza you can find in Houston, by far. Fuzzy's in the village is solid, and Pink's is great, but nothing compares to Star.

Pair it with a Lawnmower on tap, and order your pizza on a Chicago style, whole wheat crust, and you'll forget all about the time they took to make your pizza fresh and amazing. I don't want to sound like a tool, but just writing this review has me craving Star...

Do yourself a favor, though, and skip the buffet. A waste of a Star Pizza experience, if you ask me.

Grumble grumble, okay, here's my beef- good pizza should not be mistaken for a place's ability to throw together creative concoctions with ingredients. I mean, sure it's cool to be able to select from some interesting pies, but if the basic cheese pizza is meh, I'm not interested.

I went to Star with a big group, so among us we had every type of pie represented. I personally chose the Portofino, because like Danielle S I can't imagine a much better topping combo. I liked it for the most part, although the sheer number of ingredients made the thing unwieldy- my exception was the too-big chunks of feta- I mean, good 2tbsp size balls didn't "flow" well with the rest of the ingredients.

Jim..... got served the wrong pizza. And by wrong, I mean- not even close. He ordered a sausage and olive with red sauce and white crust and got a white pizza with chicken and basil / wheat crust. He refrained from saying something because it had taken 45 minutes for our pies to come out, and he didn't want to wait for a new one. I admire his patience, since he hates white pizza.

I moved here from Chicago, and the deep dish they offer made me feel as snobby about Chicago-style pizza as I am about NY-style. Not even close.
I am realizing as I write this that places that seem to focus on cool concoctions, or highlight them on their menu at least, almost always make a mediocre pie.

I'll probably end up here again and I don't mind, because even bad pizza is palatable to me. It just also makes me want to kick things.

To me, the best pizza in town.  Although that's a highly-contested title that involves lots of debate about crust and so much more, it's just plain my favorite.  Whole wheat crust, cheese, and hamburger topping is all I need to be transported to a place of sheer pizza ecstasy.

One big bonus is that Star let's you order pizza by the slice, any way you want it.  Sure, it takes some time to make this stuff from scratch, but order up a big fountain drink and make sure to bring along some good conversation, and the wait will be worth it.

If you are looking for NY style pizza, this place isn't for you.  If you are in a hurry, go someplace else. But, if you want homemade pizza and the time to enjoy a meal, go here.

We normally order the whole wheat, deep dish pizzas along with roasted garlic and  chevre.  Don't waste your money or any calories on the bread.  It is tasteless white bread from some unnamed baker -- its tastes like a hotdog bun.

I got my little slice of Chicago here by having a late nite deep dish pizza... The crust was good (a little dry but still good) and even though the sausage wasn't all at the bottom, it was still a well made Deep Dish pizza.  just the right amount of cheese and toppings .....and the toppings were fantastic!

The space is cool but don't come expecting ambiance... take in the patio and enjoy the humid Houston air, the inside kinda creeps me out... I made it outta there spending less than a Jackson for 2 ppl...

"Hey what's that funky looking place with the neon sign?" my wife asks as we drive past.

"That's Star Pizza," I reply.

"Are they good?"

"Dunno, never been there. I've heard good things though."

"Feel like some pizza?"

"You know me baby, I'm always down for pizza!"

And so marks our first visit to Star Pizza. We ordered the deep dish Starburst. When it came out, it was a little soupy and soggy, but tasted great. I decided the place deserves another chance.

We gave Star Pizza that second chance on Sunday. This time we ordered the deep dish Ben. It's an all meat pizza. With no veggies to "sweat" I figured we may have a better consistency to the pizza. I might have been right because the Ben was perfect.

On practical points, there's a lot of parking in the area but you may have to walk a block if the immediate area is full. Nothing terrible though.

Service was indifferent both times. They weren't bad, just not very attentive or enthusiastic. Our last server disappeared for a while and came back smelling like cigarettes. Ugh. Wash your hands and have a mint bro!

To clarify the rating, I'd give them 3.5 stars if that was an option, but since it's not, I'm rounding up. I'll probably be back.

I really don't like pizza.  I really just don't like any type of bread, pizza crust, tortillas, rolls, etc.  I think of bread as either A)  a utensil with which to eat other yummy food (rotis, naan, injera bread) or B)  A container to hold yummy food (buns, pita pockets, tortillas, pizza crust).

But I actually LOVE Star Pizza.  Why?  Because their pizza is all about the toppings!  We ordered a thin crust Starburst.  It was loaded with ground beef, Italian sausage, pepperoni, onions, mushrooms, and green pepper.  I didn't even know the crust was there until I got to the edge of my slice!  I actually did have a couple of bites of crust though.  And I have to admit, I liked it!  This sounds weird, but it tasted like crunchy Krispy Kreme donuts without the sugar glaze.  Sweet, yeasty goodness.  YUM.

We also had the roasted garlic appetizer.  It's a simple appetizer and easy enough to make at home, but who has the time to roast a couple heads of garlic?  It comes with bread, a small scoop of goat cheese and a sprinkling of sun dried tomatoes.  You squeeze out the garlic and spread it on the bread with all the other goodies.  This was the perfect accompaniment to our bottle of wine.  This alone filled us up, so we might stop by in the future just for this app!

It does take about 30 minutes for the pizza to come out, so if you're starving please order an app and don't complain.  The pizza is well worth the wait.  We had two different waiters serve us, both very efficiently.  Bonus- our meal of app, pizza, and wine came in under $50.  With plenty of leftovers for another meal. SCORE!.  We'll be back.

I've had worse, but frankly, this is nothing to write home about.

I almost shouldn't bother with this review. I ordered a "Hank's, no mushrooms, white crust" and got an "Alfredo chicken, no mushrooms, wheat crust". I HATE white pizza. I am, after all, of Southern Italian heritage, and if there's only one thing we love about the new world, it's tomatoes. So, when I'm drooling in my chair imagining a paper thin crust gooey with red sauce, melted cheese, zesty sausage and briny olives, and what I get is a quarter of an inch thick, puffy, covered in alfredo, white onions, chicken and HUGE shredded basil leaves... don't get me wrong, I actually really like alfredo style pasta. I just made a broccoli and pesto alfredo the other night. It just has no business on pizza. Neither do white onions. Red onions, caramelized first, or don't bother. Seriously. And I truly, truly loathe whole wheat pizza crust. It is this bizarre nod towards healthy living that adds an unpleasant toothiness to pizza dough, and isn't any better for you, anyway.

So, I'm trying hard to be fair and rate their pizza in spite of having eaten entirely the wrong pizza. This will never be my go to pizza. In fact, even NY Pizza in Meyerland makes a better pie, I think. And Luigi's is simply king (plus bocci).

But there is pizza in this world I will refuse to eat, and this isn't it. There's nothing -wrong- with this pizza, there's just nothing about it that recommends itself, either. It is dead center of the bell curve pizza. And the way I figure it, with an indulgence food, why would you ever go center of the bell curve?

One big plus for the restaurant itself - no overhead music. THANK YOU for this.

I've been here twice so far and I'm not sure what all of the fuss is about.  I had the buffet the first time around and just recently tried the deep dish; neither of them have me wanting to come back for more.

The deep dish was pretty boring.  I remember years ago when my roommate had some deep dish pizza shipped to our apartment directly from Chicago and even though it came frozen, THAT was good.  This on the other hand...meh.

Our pizza took forever to come out and it wasn't hot at all.  It's supposed to be somewhat warm, right?!?!  Especially if it's not busy on a Saturday afternoon?  Slow/bad service?  Probably.  Maybe invest in something like the Domino's heatwave, even if it's to just bring the pizza upstairs.  Regardless, I don't see myself coming back.

i am sad to write a dismal report on an establishment that has produced stellar pizzas for years, but tonight was the 2nd time I was disappointed with both product and service.  I ordered the Angel Hair Pasta Spicy Tomato Basil in Olive Oil "sauce" with added chicken, Caesar Salad, and Garlic Bread.  The Garlic bread was the best part, but it could have been toasted more and have more butter.
The waiter brought me a pound of pasta in a very small bowl with pale tomatoes that was used for the "sauce",  Although I saw a lot of basil, I could not taste it.  The meal was bland- lacked spice and flavor.  I was horribly disappointed, but too tired to complain to the staff who seem to carry an air of indifference and absorbed in their own life dramas...

Some of you might say that their forte is pizza, but I was disappointed by my last pizza there- it lacked enough sauce and was dry.  i was able to hold off on a third piece of pizza- which is a sign that something was off.  I usually cant control myself and end up eating 4 slices in one setting...

i hope they can recover...and I will submit directly to their website b.c i have fond memories of Star Pizza...and want them to stick around...but  lately the service is hit or miss- sometimes I had to wait quite a number of minutes to be seated, or walk up to the To-Go counter and request to be served.....
...kind of reminds me of an older  football star who thinks he can succeed on reputation alone....

What sounds good anytime of day? A SLICE OF PIZZA!

But not just any kind of pizza. I'm looking for a Chicago style, deep dish, pizza. Something that will fill my stomach up and satisfy my craving. What better to wash down a pizza with, than a nice cold beer?

Star Pizza has both!!!

Arrived close to 10:30pm. The parking lot was full so had to move it to the streets. Walked in and my boyfriend and I were seated immediately. Looked over the menu and didn't look at anything but the pizzas! I noticed they had more to offer, but what I came here for was some deep dish pizza and I found it...Starburst with a whole wheat crust.

So we placed our order: 2 glasses of St. Arnold's and a medium deep dish Starburst with whole wheat crust. Like the wheat crust makes the meal any healthier, but hey at least it's some peace of mind. Our beers came out and we sipped on those until our pizza was ready. I must say this place is a great place to people watch, especially as the night went on. I was getting hungry watching everyone eat their pizza that I kept looking at my phone wondering when our pizza will come out. I had to keep in mind that we ordered a whole pizza and it's going to take several minutes. Definitely worth the wait!

The dish finally arrives. Just what I wanted! The smells of the meats and cheese were oh so delicious. I dove right in and got myself a slice and with knife and fork in hand, began to dig in. YUMMY!!! The amount of cheese and meats and sauce were perfect. The crust was crisp all around and baked perfectly.

We ate the whole thing, to both of our surprise. It was just that good, we couldn't stop eating!

I went for the lunch buffet, so my opinion of Star Pizza is probably skewed.  I arrived around 12:30 and completely missed the lunch crowd, but as a result, I got the leftover, only slightly warm pizza.  There were about 5 very generic types of pizza - cheese, pepperoni, margherita, supreme, sausage, and I thought they were all just okay.  Not too greasy with a good, soft crust but nothing else that screams five stars.  I did notice that you can request a pizza of your choice to be made, but I didn't have time for that.  The buffet also includes a salad bar, french bread upon request, and tea, all for under $10.  I have issues with the french bread "upon request" part.  If it's included in the buffet, just bring it out.  I almost felt cheap for asking.

It took a little while for me to warm up to this place. I can say now I really enjoy the food. We had the garlic and goat cheese and cheese bread for appetizers and of course pizza and spaghetti. The service was wonderful and the food hit the perfect spot. I liked the cheese bread but not everyone at my table would rave about it. All in all it was exactly what I was craving.
Another thing, every time we go we sit in a totally different area, which always feels like it's a new place. This last time we went upstairs and it was so adorable.
Oh and it happens to be across the street from Amy's so it's a bonus in my book.

We got into town pretty late, and Star Pizza brought us beer and a delicious margarita/"Joe's" (spinach and garlic) wheat crust pizza. The wheat crust seemed like a horrible idea, but it was so good I suggested we place the same order a few nights later. I'm converted, and they even keep your order on record.

Nothing's perfect, though, so, Star Pizza: when delivering to a hotel, please bring utensils and plates by default. Your salad was really good, but not enough to eat with our hands. So it goes.

Now, do they deliver to Chicago?

Love love love love love the pizza!  If you go; get the Starburst considering you like veggies and meat on your pie. The seasonal lemonade is the bomb. If you are lucky to get a table outside do it; but hopefully you won't be near smokers. That's always a kill-joy! But please come to enjoy made from scratch pizza. Did I mention I love Star Pizza?

My parents were eating here before I was born.  Eventhough I actually live in Chicago now, I still crave Star's very own "Chicago Style" pizza.

I have considered many times that these memories could be clouded by nostalgia, and that it may not really be *as* good as I rememebered.  But, on my last trip to Houston, I revisitied it and it was so good, in fact,  that we went twice in a four day trip.

The deep dish, whole wheat Joe's cannot be missed.  It's so garlicy, has the perfect ratio of ingredients, the best sauce and the most amazing crust.

The garden salad is also pretty impressive.  It's full of super fresh, top quality vegetables.  Make sure you get the house dressing.  It's fantastic.

Also of note, they deliver wine and beer!  Who else does that!

Tip:  If you are ordering from a hotel (or anywhere where you have no plates and forks on hand), make sure to mention that you need plates AND plastic silverware, since they aren't quite thoughtfull enough to figure that out on their own.

In any case, I forgive them.  You can't win 'em all.

I don't get it ... I mean yea its pizza its "ok" at best ... but definitely nothing to go crazy over. You pick up the slice of pizza and the topping literally slide off the wet greasy crust.

The only thing worst than the food was the service.  I went inside to ask for olive oil for my goat cheese/bread and was asked by the manager behind the counter "Depends, what are you going to use it for?" ... wtf does it matter??

We ordered two pints of Shiner ... when the second one arrived we noticed it was a darker color than the first.  Apparently even though we ordered Shiner they brought us St. Arnold's instead. So when the check comes we inform the waitress of this and she says "well let me see what my manager can do" ... what do you mean? Its a mistake ... fix it.

SO what was the managers "fix" to their screw up?  They brought us two more pints of Shiner ... at a table of four.  WTF? We didn't say anything and left the pints full at the table.  It didn't matter ... we won't be eating here again.

Pizzas take a while (40 minutes or so).  If you're not into deep dish that you eat with a fork then look elsewhere -- though they do thinner crust as well.  Personal faves are the Joe's, Hank's and the Chicken Alfredo pizzas.  All they need is some sriracha...

I first visited Star after it topped the Houston Chronicle "Best Pizza in Town" list in 2002. From then on I was hooked. They use the freshest ingredients, but most importantly, they bake the pizza when you order it!

That said, it takes 30-40 minutes to get your food once it's ordered, but when they bring it out and set it on your table, you know that it doesn't get any better. Snag some cheese bread and a salad and you don't notice the delay!

FYI - For 2 people, order a medium Ben's Chicago-style on wheat. It's like sex in your mouth!

The BEST Chicago-style deep dish pizza in Houston! My parents took me here when I was a kid and then I lost it till about 6 years ago. Still worth the drive across town! This place has character. The people, the old converted house, everything about it is amazing! Everyone that I have taken here now calls ever few months to say "Hey, let's go to Star's today." It's always a good idea!

Best Pizzas:
Chicago Wheat Pepperoni
Chicago Wheat Spinach and Garlic

For our first Star Pizza experience, we ordered the Hank's NY thin crust pizza (sausage, mushroom, olives). The sausage was some of the best I've had on a pizza. Like others have said, this is a cheese heavy pizza where the sauce takes a backseat. That's not to say that there weren't a ton of toppings on the pizza. It's just that the sauce is pretty neutral. I would have preferred a spicy sauce. I'd rate Star's pizza better than NY Pizzeria, California Pizza Kitchen, and Costco (which actually has pretty good pizza at a great price... but I digress).

Another plus: We phoned in the order at 7:00 pm on Saturday night. The pizza was ready in about 20 minutes. Which was very impressive considering how insanely busy they were when we showed up. I'm not sure I've seen a busier pizza parlor. The staff was very friendly, and offered the usual cheese and peppers to-go. All in all, I wouldn't hesitate to go back.

Star specializes in super deep-dish, eat-with-knife-and-fork pizzas. They make their own crusts, whole wheat or white, and it's delicious. You can get pretty much anything you want as toppings. They have some interesting combinations to choose from, or you can make up your own. I like ground beef, bacon and broccoli best myself.

Star delivers, but since they do the crust fresh, it can take quite a while, sometimes over an hour, to get your pizza. The restaurant itself can get pretty crowded and loud at peak times. The prices are a little high for pizza, but it's pretty hearty fare, and it goes further than you think it will.

I don't live in Houston anymore, but when I come back to visit, Star is the first place I want to go-- my classic favorite.

Everytime my friend gets his bonus from a certain energy company, he takes us out to eat. Last year, it was at Nelore's, this year it was Star Pizza. There were 10 of us, and we got seated upstairs to watch the UT/Duke game (*tear*).

It wasn't our first time there, but it had been a LONG while. We ordered 4 large pizzas ( 2 Starburts, 1 Ben's, 1 Chicken Alfredo) and 3 pitchers of beer. We inhaled all but ONE slice, and requested that special super spicy hot sauce that got us all sweating and teary eyed. It was all very yummy.

Our only big complaint is that the service here sucked balls. We were seated for about 10 minutes before our server ever came over. We literally were waving around like monkeys to get SOMEONE's attention, and even then it took a long time to just get water. Then, when he was taking our orders, he was a lil' rude to us, kinda condescending. He did make it up to me by bringing that awesome hot sauce, but still. I'm a tender-hearted girl and my feelings get hurt easily. LoL.

I'd come back, but it's not one of my *favorite* pizza parlors. I'm still on a hunt for that.

HANDS DOWN.  THE BEST EFFING PIZZA ON EARTH!!!  i love this place!  love sitting outside drinking pitchers of shiner with friends and chatting with the waitstaff... at least a few years ago, two sisters worked there and they were awesome.. don't go much anymore but still people that work their are nice.  pizza takes like 30 min to come out, but IT'S WORTH THE WAIT!  Deep dish chicken alfredo is my favorite.  believe it or not on wheat is amazing.. and don't forget the extra cheese.  and its decently priced.  I personally think its cheap!

This is THE place to get a pizza- especially a deep dish pizza!  This isn't your artsy fartsy type of pizza.  It's a pizza pizza...  all of the ingredients are fresh and top notch.  It beats the pants off of any of the major chains.

My favorite is the deep dish veggie on a whole wheat crust.  The starburst and Joe aren't far behind!  Oh and the salads are great.  Again- fresh crisp ingredients.  I think all of their dressings are homemade.  My favorite- honey mustard.

I've been eating at Star (mostly the Shepherd location) for over a decade and it never disappoints.  The staff are all eclectic Austin cool (especially at the Shepherd location).  Very friendly and prompt service.

Gotta go with the chicken alfredo pizza with wheat crust. Mmmmmm. :)

The other pizza we got was underdone on the bottom - I could tell since the pizza kept sticking to the spatula. Also was kind of disconcerting that they brought over someone else's pizza and served it to us (we had the same order), only to take it away when they figured out their mistake - we had already taken out a couple of slices although we hadn't eaten anything. I'm not quite sure what happened to it!  :o

My ex got me hooked on this place! I love their Margherita pizza with Chicken! I order it NY style and it is great! I've also had pasta from them, but they are better at making Pizza. :)
They also serve Chicago style pizza (never had it) but if you are into that, this may be a good place to visit.

This is my favorite location of the two that exist. I love the psycho-muraling on the booths. Should be careful if sitting there though--could bring back bad memories.

The pizza doesn't vary from location to location--but I seem to like the staff here better. I seem to not mind hanging out here for a good while. The house it's situated in has it's definite charm.

The pizza is o.k. I was discussing good pizza with my sister and we agreed that there needs to be a method to the way it's put together, and that's what Star lacks for me. They just seem to pile it on. Their crust on the other hand . . . very nice. Ideally I"d give this location a 3.5, but you know the Yelp story!

Good pizza (have only tried the "New York Style") and a great location.  If you are looking for inexpensive, good-but-not-great, non-chain pizza and a dive beer-bar then Star is your place.

What's there to like?
I don't like a lot of cheese on my pizza. I like the right
balance so that I can taste the crust/toppings and cheese.

Star Pizza is overly cheesey ! Bland Flavor, all you can taste is
the cheese... AND YES Thin crusts' suppose to be thin.

Squeee Star Pizza! I'd been looking forward to trying this place out since I found out I was moving to Texas and first started exploring Yelp Houston. Needless to say, it lived up to all the expectations I'd set for it. My only regret is that I didn't order a beer with my pizza! *kicks herself!* Urgh, Nicole!

Anyways, once me and my friends sat down and started discussing potential toppings, I realized that this was gonna be no simple task. Me, I like ALL veggie toppings, hate ham and pineapple, and basically the only meat I like on pizza is pepperoni or ground beef. Friend #1 hates mushrooms and olives, but loves all kinds of meat. Friend #2 is the same in the meat department, but hates onions.

In the end, we agreed on pepperoni, spinach, garlic, and jalapenos. I know, I know, it sounds vile... but good Lawd it was good!

4 stars instead of 5 because parking is a nightmare, and our table was way too small for the 3 of us. Our waiter was AWESOME, though! :D

I went here for the first time on Sunday. The 2 story layout was very cute and they had a rad patio. The staff was also friendly and service was great. Now the pizza.... we ordered the Margarita that consisted of mostly cheese and tomatoes on wheat. I thought it was pretty tasty, but not all "woooo". The person who was with me that had eaten there before also mentioned that it didn't taste as great as he remembered.

I still prefer the spinach pizza at brasils but will give this place another try, perhaps the one on Harvard instead.

This place is extremely casual and laidback. I love that they have such a variety of ingredients and specialty pizzas to choose from, in addition to whole wheat crust. I've only had their hand-tossed which I enjoyed (made for good leftovers too). Will be going back to try their deep dish.

I love this place's spinach and garlic pizza. When I say love, I mean LOVE. As in Barry White's sweet lovin'. Or the Chef's. And I don't really like pizza all that much. So that's saying something.

Minus one star for the sporadic service, cramped table setup and sometimes sticky tables. (If you get into a booth, you may never get out.)

The lunch buffet is cheap, but worth a lot more. The fresh salad bar is small but good. Their Italian dressing is fantastic and get this: They have REAL BACON for bacon bits!

Peetzaaaahhh.  What can I say, I love it.  And I love Star's the best.  This place is Yelp City so I won't go over what's already been said--but I'd like to express my love for the Portofino foccacia pizza.  Kalamata olives, feta, tomatoes, red onions, artichoke hearts and fresh basil: it doesn't get any better than that.  I pretty much eschew the regular pizza menu when I'm here in favor of the personal foccacias.  The portion is just right and the price is reasonable ($6.75 for the Portofino).  Delivery is available, but as is typical inside the restaurant, it is sloooow.  The wait would be unforgivable if the pizza wasn't so goshdarn tasty and completely worth it.  It makes me wonder what Star does that other pizza places don't to induce the long prep time...at this point, I'm pretty sure there's magic involved, based on how yummy the food is.

This is one of my favorite restaurants. I started going here with my friends somewhat regularly about 10 years ago. I live in Austin now, but I still visit Star Pizza whenever I'm in town. The place is so Austin-y that I wish they'd set up shop in my new neck of the woods.

Their pizza gets five stars on its own. It's always piping hot, loaded with fresh ingredients, and has a unique taste. Joe's-deep dish-wheat crust pizza is so delicious. It's bubbling over with mozzarella, spinach, and chunky garlic tomato sauce, and the crust makes a great tool to sop up what's spilled onto to plate. The ranch salad dressing tastes homemade with fresh dill, and also serves as a nice dipper for pizza crusts. I've never had their deserts, because I've always filled up on pizza, but I'd imagine they'd be quite good.

The atmosphere is funky, set in an an old house. This place is so established that even my aunt and uncle frequented the restaurant 30 years ago. Any place that's been popular for so long has got to be good.

For the longest time, my parents hated that they couldn't find a good "sit-down" pizza place out in Katy.  Finally, one day in high school, my boyfriend of the time introduced me to Star Pizza and oh my goodness, it was definitely worth the drive!  Whenever I visit home, I make a point to go to Star Pizza, it's absolutely delicious!  I've never had to wait long and the service has always been great.  Can't wait to go back!

Wildly unhealthy and amazingly delicious. It's a small location, so if you're going during peak hours, prepare to wait. We had a party of 6 and got there on a Friday evening, but our wait wasn't too bad. It's a quaint location with two stories and a fantastic pizza smell.

The thing to remember is that the pizzas are gigantic. Your eyes go in thinking you can eat a bunch (in my case, I was targeting 5 slices), but you quickly realize you're on a fools errand (I ended up eating 3). You can go thin or deep dish. I'm partial to thin, but here I felt the deep dish was better. My only complaint was that, as a sauce fan, I felt the pizzas were a little too heavy on the cheese and too light on the marinara. But that's just nitpicking.
