They are a little too poppy for my tastes. They play a strange variety of music, from absolutely awful rap/pop to great classic rock. They're not as good as 97.3, but at least they don't play crap like Paramore and claim to be an alternative rock station like 105.3.
Very average... I used to enjoy listening to John Tesh in the evenings driving home from work! -

Every time I watch American Psycho, when Christian Bale puts on a song and goes off on his monologues, I'm reminded of good old K101 (when it was called K101 vs Star 101). I refuse to call it that. Star.. psh. In fact, this rating is only for late 80's - mid 90's version of K101.
Instead of listening to New Kids on the Block and all that top 40/ pop stuff back in the late 80's to mid 90's, we were BUMPIN' it to Phil Collins, Rick Astley, Journey, Wilson Phillips and our buddy Richard.. Marx.. etc.. This was back when Celine's Heart did NOT go on, and definitely back when Mariah Carey's Vision of Love was not 11 years her junior, but rather 21 years her senior.
Times are changing, but I still know the words to half those songs.. and NONE of the words to any New Kids on the Block song. Oh well.. Who was watching Harold and Kumar and almost died from this scene?

While you're still paying attention..
I've been meaning to tell you
I've got this feelin' that won't subside
I look at you and I fantasize
You're mine tonight
Now I've got you in my sights
With these hungry eyes
One look at you and I can't disguise
I've got hungry eyes
I feel the magic between you and I...
yeah.. Eric Carmen and I are lookin' at you! Get yo' fatass back here. -

One of the lamest formats I've ever heard. I know a lot of people enjoy it, but save for about a dozen songs, it makes me wanna yak.
One of the worst companies I've ever worked for (yes, jaded). Complete reckless abandon for laws surrounding hiring / compensation. Now that I have been working in other professional environments for some time, I cannot believe what I dealt with here. Amateurish @ best. Some of this may have been Clear Channel's fault, but if corporate offices had heard of my situation I'm sure it would have been halted immediately. Most non-sense I've endured for a $10/hr wage.
One of the better give-away, promotions stations in the bay area. Sylvia's Friday lunch is popular & fun. I've met many people who really appreciated it. Good with concert tickets & gift certificates etc. Don Bleu is a nice guy & funny sometimes too. -

STAR 101.3 is perfect for background, ambient music. I don't mind it at work, nor when I'm driving,or at the bank. The songs don't command my attention. To quote Brian Eno,they're "wallpaper music."
The morning show with Don Bleu is great fun, especially his Blooper Calls. Ryan Seacrest is also Tomorrow's American Bandstand host Today. He's gracious with his guests,he does hilarious "TWILIGHT" readings, and can somehow plumb the depths of Ke$ha and the Kardashians.
Positive- They play FUN songs, like anything by Lady GaGa. There are guilty pleasure songs.
Negative- Playing songs like James Blunt's caterwauling "Beautiful",Ke$ha's auto-tuned "Tik Tok",and Train's "Hey Soul Sister" endlessly. I don't want to hear Pat Monahan singing about his chest hair. So what I'm from the Bay Area. I change the station. There are annoying, overplayed songs. Between anything by the Black Eyed Peas, Michael Buble's slurred lisping, and Dave Matthews Band's pretentiousness--yes,101.3 is a fallen star.
101.3 is a melange. When it's good,it's great. When it's bad,it's awful. -

Really....the only radio station I can listen to without changing the station every 10 minutes.
I'm getting older (no more 94.9 for me) and wiser (Live 105 is giving me headaches, sometimes) and 92.7 is played on a mix tape I made for my friend back in the 8th grade....
But yes...Carrie Underwood, CHANGE IT also The Fray's annoying song I dont want to say it because It will get stuck in my head!!!!!!!!!

Ok I'm a Don Bleu fan and I enjoy his dorky sense of humor. Dh practically hates the morning show (too frat for him) but he'll humor me and turn it on while we're commuting in the am.
The music selection is ok. It doesn't really put me to sleep and it's not so hardcore that my office mates will be annoyed.
Minus one star for the boring afternoon commute dj. They seem to change that slot often. What's wrong? Can't you keep someone on board for longer than a year? -

I don't listen to the radio much because I have a too many CD's.Anyhoo,I like to listen to this station if I decide to listen to the radio.
This is one of the 2 stations I will listen to.
When a new song comes out I won't know about it for about a month. So don't ask me.I won't know.
I suck and I am lame.
I like the Violent Femmes,The Police and some old school N.W.A. -

We listen to Star 101 and the Wolf 95.5.
We used to listen to star but I got sick of hearing all the crude music they would play in between the good stuff so we switched to the country station ,Wolf.
However ,I feel like (compared to rock) country is better written (many songs are actual stories).
My daughter started listening to Star again and it seems like they've cleaned up so I'll let her continue to listen to it along with the Wolf.
The problem with the Wolf is they play a lot of songs that are about inappropriate and bad behavior (drugs , sex , drinking).
I really wish there was a family freindly country station in the Bay Area.

Not the same especially without Sylvia.
These people never know when they have a good thing.
Their loss because there are to many other options out there for music. -

if i had the chance, i'd punch that april summers chick in the ovary. right in the babymaker. how did she get on the radio? her voice sounds like a kitten being drop-kicked.
i'd rather scratch my eyes out with my fastrak than listen to this crap during the morning commute. the most generic, souless, let's play nice bs i've ever heard. it's so unoffensive, it offends me.
they think they'll have funky street cred if they play old school prince and michael jackson. guess what? every other station in the bay area plays old school prince and michael jackson. you're not original! egads!
they're still programmed into my car stereo, however. -

My mom listened to this station when I was a kid, so I do have fond memories of 101.3. It is one of the pre-sets on my car radio, and I do like listening to most of the songs they air. They play current hits as well as some older popular songs from the 90s and 80s. I like Don Bleu (he's been around forever on this station!) but I think Ryan Seacrest can get super annoying!

Woohoo definitely 5 Stars. I just enjoyed a lunch that my co-worker won from Star 101.3 and it was freaking awesome. LOL it pays off to enter their contests and to call in on the air...she's won quite a few things from them already. The staff that came into our office Carlos and Dorothy are great...both are pretty cute. I definitely enjoy Don Bleu in the morning. Definitely helps on my drive to work. Talking about work time to get back to it.

I used to listen to this radio station nonstop throughout college and always looked forward to the John Tesh show which started at 7 PM. I have to agree with the other reviews - I like the music selection until they started playing Carrie Underwood's "Before He Cheats" at song every hour. Other than that, it's still a pretty decent radio station.

This station for the bay area is really great. I can sing along to practically all their songs. The music is fantastic even if it's not always the very latest album. I always love listening to this station because there are never any dorky songs.

They play a lot of songs I watch on Vh1..I wish they played newer songs though instead of the old songs...but old songs are still good I guess.

I listen to this radio channel sometimes when I go to work; I like Don Bleu in the morning, he is good entertainer and I like his beuper calls.
But some of the things I don't like about this station:
1) Sometimes Don on his show talks about something that he has no idea of, I don't understand why you bring up something that you don't know of.
2) Bleuper calls sometimes are not funny I wish they screen how the other person reacts to the bleuper call and then play it on radio. One time there was this mother who tried to bleuper her son, but the son did not like it but Don kept going. Don't want to get into too much detail there but wish they cut it before it went on air.
3) I only listen to Ryan's blabber in the evening when other stations play commercials. He is little annoying and I don't understand why he calls someone in the Hollywood to give updates, why can't he just talk about it.
4) Finally Ryan's relationship advices are the worst, I mean you would ask someone who has a better understanding, but Ryan is more of an entertainer than a counselor, but it's just my 2 cents.
Other than that I like the station, it plays the music that I like from all generations.
