We went on a Saturday night and I was very crowded. My friends were already there and had placed a drink order. I ordered an apple martini and requested it on ice and not in the martini glass. It arrived in the martini glass with no ice so they brought it back to fix the way it served. The manager walked by and I shared that the last time I was here service was not that great, and I was told to let them know I was back. He was very kind and receptive to making sure we were receiving good service. Our waitress was wonderful, she took our orders and would check on us to make sure all is good. The appetizers were excellent. We had calamari, The spinach and artichoke dip and the cornbread. I was really good. My friend ordered the chicken pot pie and it was out of this world. It was creamy, flavorful and flaky crust. My other friend ordered the trout and it was very nicely prepared in lemon butter and had a good taste. My other friend ordered the vegetarian burger and rated it a 5 out of 10.
I always get the Aji tuna salad and it never disappoints. The vinaigrette dressing is lovely and I always ask for soy sauce to give it that extra flavor. That salad is a 10 out of 10. For dessert we got the bread pudding and it was excellent as well . Great night, great friends, great food.Helpful 2Thanks 2Love this 2Oh no 0Mar 26, 2023Previous reviewIt was a busy night at Stanford grill and I have to recognize the servers who were not assigned our table as they were exceptional ( one was a breath of kindness and customer service oriented who is also a JD !! She helped with water or soda as our server was no where to be seen. We ordered two drinks only to be told the main liquor in the drink "Kailua"was out of stock. The manager made no apologies when my friend shared the liquor store is less than 1/2 mile away. His remark is we are to busy to send someone. While I respect that he did not offer to sway us to something they make well as another option.
Once we got past missing servers and no Kailua, the food was excellent.
The ribeye, seared ahi tuna salad and crab cakes were prepared perfectly and flavorful. The sundae and key lime pie were the perfect end to a great meal.Oct 14, 2022Previous reviewGreat service, great food and great atmosphere!!
The ahi tuna salad is amazing and my friend enjoyed the French dip. - Scott A.Olney, MD2959Mar 30, 2024
This is one of a number of restaurants in Rockville North Bethesda, that cater to the business lunch crowd. I have visited several times, and found the food to be fresh and plated. Well. Service is always good. On occasion, the price surprises me, but one doesn't come here for the value, but rather the convenience.
I recommend this restaurant to other lunch goers.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Dec 5, 2023
*great food -
*enjoyed the ribs with exceptional fries!!
*French dip sandwich was to die for- I did send it back just to heat up because it came out not hot but the bartender was great and the manager checked in after to make sure it was to my liking.
*loved the pear martini
*empty bar on a Sunday brunch
*loved that there was a piano- sad that no one was playing!!
*great ambiance
*older crowd primarily
*bartender was very formal and polite- once we opened up he seemed to be very personable and warm.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1 - 16512391Mar 31, 2024
They have rebranded the restaurant as "Glenwood's". If you want to compare it to an existing chain, think Copper Canyon, as they are under the same corporate umbrella. This was my first visit here and I wasn't disappointed. Our server was very attentive and pleasant. The atmosphere is on the subdued side, even though most of the window views are of Wootton Parkway. The food was very good. The jumbo lump crab cakes were filling and meaty. I enjoyed their cocktails as well; just the right mixture. Highly recommended!

Hands down a good meal will be had here every time, whether dining in or through a delivery app.
I ordered the Kent Island Fish sandwich for lunch via Door Dash and it was amazing. The addition of the cole slaw on the sandwich was the best part of a very tasty lunch. The size of the fillet was very large, I highly recommend this dish and will be ordering it again. I was so satisfied with the sandwich that I was able to save my side salad for dinner. SN: I much prefer the version of slaw used to top the sandwich versus the side of slaw that usually accompanies the entrées.Helpful 4Thanks 1Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jan 4, 2024
Visiting Stanford Grill in Rockville is always a treat. Wait staff are always professional and knowledgeable of the specials of the day. The atmosphere is upscale. Space is appropriately lit for your dining experience. This location has a spacious bar that is fully stocked. On this visit, I had the pork shank with sides. The pork shank was crispy on the outside but moist on the inside. It was perfectly seasoned. You can not have a great meal and not partake in dessert. Key lime pie is my favorite. They offer a generous serving for those who are fans. Also, the bread pudding is warm and sweet. You really cannot wrong here. It's definitely worth making the stop. You will not be disappointed.

So we always wanted to eat at this restaurant, and guess what we had the chance to, food was so delicious, Ribeye steak was probably the best I've had in a very long time, the flavor of the steak is on point, Mashed potatoes, delicious, I'm not a big fan on green beans, but I have to say they are good as well. Now the Bread pudding.....wow wow wow, that by itself is worth a trip. Service was excellent, our server was Brandon and he did a fabulous job, so thank you. Love the feel at Stanford grill, nice candles lit with the lights turned low, great way to set the mood for a nice dinner. Can't wait to return, very pleased.

Looking for a classy date night? Stanford Grill is the place for you.
The dim lighting and private seating provide the perfect environment for an intimate outing with your significant other.
The service is top-notch and the food is brought out in a timely manner.
It's a little more pricey but the portion sizes more than justify that. I had the fire-roasted rotisserie chicken with green beans and French fries. The chicken was nice and moist and seasoned to perfection and was perfectly balanced by the freshness of the green beans. The fries were perfectly crisped.
Definitely would recommend for a lovely night out.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 38691918413Jun 10, 2023Updated review

I came for lunch with colleagues for a retreat. We shared hummus and pita. I'm normally not into hummus, but gave it a try. The pita was really good, but I could pass on the hummus. Just not a fan in general. I ordered the 10 oz prime rib which came with mashed potatoes. I thought my first bite of the prime rib was amazing. It was well-seasoned and was delish as it had some fat which made it succulent and moist. However, as I made my way into the center it lacked flavor. It appears the edges tasted the best. The mashed potatoes had scallions in it which was different and I liked it. My colleagues all said they enjoyed their lunch.
Service was on the slower side and it took awhile before we got our food.
Parking in the garage for the restaurant is available on P3 and P4.Helpful 8Thanks 1Love this 5Oh no 0Dec 14, 2018Previous reviewMy boss took out her direct reports for our annual holiday lunch. This was my first visit here. The building was challenging to find even with the gps. The restaurant is located in a commercial building. First time around I passed it, and had to circle back. I found the parking garage confusing because restaurant parking is for P3 & P4. I was expecting it to be on a higher level, but it was actually on the lower level since the restaurant is located through the building lobby. Even though you have to take a ticket upon entering the garage, there is no fee and it does not need to be validated.
When you first enter the restaurant, to the left of the hostess stand, there is a showcase of the selection of wine bottles. The restaurant is super big with spacious booths. These booths are among the biggest I have ever seen. At the end of each booth was a small hook to hang your coat. Not enough if there are multiple people at each booth. My colleague pointed out that the linen napkins had a hole so that you could affix it to your shirt to use as a bib. It would come in handy for professionals. That was a pretty cool observation.
Our server came by and asked for our drink order and shortly after brought us a basket of sweet rolls which were delish. They reminded me of a mix between King Hawaiian and the rolls at Coastal Flats, except they were larger.
I perused the menu prior to our visit, and had decided on the Rotisserie Chicken as that was one of their specialties. It came with mashed potatoes and green beans, but I decided to substitute it with spinach. The skin of the chicken was the crispiest I've ever had for rotisserie, probably because it's wood-fired. The mashed potato was lumpy which gave it texture. The spinach was not overcooked, and was done just right. I was very pleased with my selection. The portion size at Stanford is very generous and almost everyone at my table needed a doggy bag. I normally clean my plate, but it was too much for me.
My boss let us sample her side of mac & cheese and it was among one of the creamiest I have ever had. My colleague ordered the meatloaf which I also sampled. The wine sauce was a bit overwhelming to me, but it was super moist. For dessert, I had our server surprise my boss with a cheesecake for her belated birthday which she took to go.
As we were wrapping up, I went to the restroom. I put my hand under the faucet and no water came out. Another patron informed me that I had to tap the faucet. Not sure what I would have done after several attempts. It would have been helpful to have a sign.
Overall, I enjoyed the food and ambiance which was modern, upscale, and clean to me. I would definitely return. - May 16, 2023Updated review
As part of my Mother's Day weekend we had lunch at The Stanford Grill. It was superb! The service was phenomenal and our waitress was fabulous.
I should mention, that we had a two year old with us, so anyone with kids, knows that this adds another challenge to your dining experience. Our waitress was exceptionally understanding and got our food out in a timely manner.
We started off with the fried calamari and marinara dipping sauce. It was hot, crunchy, and tasty. Even the youngest in our party enjoyed it. The marinara dipping sauce was great.
We all opted for prime rib and it was too die for! It was tender, cooked perfectly , and full of flavor. I usually take home some of my meal, but not this time, I finished off every morsel.
I got French fries for my side dish. They were so tasty and crunchy. My granddaughter and I were going to town on them.
My daughter in law ordered the bacon macaroni and cheese. It was rich and had a lot of bacon flavor. It was a little too rich for my liking. But, she enjoyed it.
We had the bread pudding for dessert. It was a gigantic portion and so good. It was the perfect end to a fabulous meal.
So great food, great service, and lovely ambience, I will definitely be back soon.Helpful 16Thanks 2Love this 16Oh no 0Jun 6, 2022Previous reviewI would really rate this as a 3.5, but I rounded up because our waiter Steven was so nice. Our meal started off great...we had hummus and tabouleh as appetizers. The hummus was creamy, tasty, and a very large portion.
The tabouleh was fresh, full of herbs, and delicious. I had ordered a meal that I usually get, called the club salad with fried chicken, avocado, bacon, lettuce, and corn bread croutons. When our meal arrived, my fried chicken was so dry and hard, it could be used as a lethal weapon. The cornbread croutons were missing in action. So, I told our waiter and he graciously offered me a new salad.
So, I ordered the crab cake salad. So, you are saying to yourself, " Oh, no...not that one too." And, I would say you are absolutely right.
I always order dressing on the side, but they forgot. The salad was drowning and wilted in dressing. Then, the Old Bay was so overwhelming in the crab cake, I ended up tossing the salad. So, two salads and both needed a lot of help.
My son's salad was good! So, I thankful that one of us was happy with our meal. Unfortunately, both of us had ordered carry out meals from Stanford Grill in the recent past and they were lacking in flavor and skill. That is why we decided to dine in at the restaurant.
I don't understand if they have a new chef or not enough kitchen staff, but when you are paying Stanford Grill prices you expect quality.
I really hope they make some much needed changes. I really used to love the food, ambiance, and wonderful service.Mar 27, 2021Previous reviewWowza! Exceeded expectations....everything you would want for a special occasion! Stanford Grill blew the roof off our birthday lunch.
My son ordered wood grilled salmon with mashed potatoes. He loved it and said it tasted amazing.
I ordered the rack of ribs and it was a huge portion. The meat literally fell off the bone. It melted in your mouth and the barbecue sauce was excellent! The shoestring potatoes were crisp and delicious. The creamy coleslaw was fresh and refreshing.
For dessert, we got the key lime pie. Let me tell you there was a quarter of a pie included in our order, with freshly made whipped cream. It was melt in your mouth phenomenal. Not too sweet, not too sour, just perfectly made key lime pie.
Ordering was a breeze. A special thanks to Eli who took my order, honored a few substitutions, and had everything packaged and ready for me when I arrived.
Covid regulations were being observed. Hand sanitizer was on the hostess desk, as you walked in.
And a word about the packaging, it was packaged in deluxe containers, with seals on each container. So, there were no leaks or messes. Thanks team!
Well, I can tell you that I will be ordering from Stanford Grill again soon. My compliments to the chef and all of the staff who made this birthday lunch an epic success!Sep 26, 2015Previous reviewSpoiler alert, opening nights can be awesome and this one one was a true delight. There was an excellent jazz trio playing background music for guests. The venue is gorgeous with an upscale vibe for guests, including a lovely outdoor patio with heat lamps and comfy seats for outdoor diners. The food was outrageous. They have a large sushi bar with fresh sushi for their guests. Chef Sean was friendly describing his design on California rolls made with real crab meat and one of my favorites, the shrimp roll with avocado and fresh shrimp. There were hamburger sliders, roast beef sandwiches, and macaroni and cheese. The deserts were to die for. I loved the key lime pie and the bread pudding. They were a perfect end to a tremendous meal. The service was fantastic. The managers were attentive and eager to please. I really enjoyed opening night and I will look forward to returning for upscale dining that is right around the corner. A great addition to the local venues.
