Very old school.  Something out of the 50's. And a very colorful, local hangout.  The food was great.  Been here twice and I was not disappointed either time.

They serve up generous portions of comfort food. I had the corned beef and cabbage today--Monday special--and it was one of the best I have eaten.  The corned beef was lean, flavorful, and suculent.  The cabbage was seasoned perfectly.  Only thing missing was some boiled taters.

Friend had the grilled chicken salad.  It was huge and he pronounced it "excellent  and fresh."

Another friend had the chicken fryed steak.  Gobbled it up with another excellent!

Comfort food in a comfortable old school setting.  Can't go wrong!

Not too shabby... definitely a lot of food and a decent place to get a steak. Came here tonight to get my Fat Tuesday fix... and yes - I definitely feel fat afterwards =P

(1) Started with Oyster Shooters - not too bad... but it seemed like there was a bit too much in that little shot glass to take down comfortably. My buddy liked 'em though.

(2) "Bar Prawns" - I was expecting some jumbo cocktail shrimp, but these were fried. Pretty damn good for being fried, though. I liked the cocktail sauce (surprising 'cause I usually don't) 'cause they added a bit of horseradish in it. The tarter sauce was pretty good, too.

(3) Porterhouse w/ Onion Rings - also came with salad and a roll. I'd say the salad was so-so (looked like something out of a bag) - but the sunflower seeds were a plus.

The onion rings were AMAAAZING. Crispy on the outside, perfectly cooked on the inside. MMmmMMMm... and the porterhouse, definitely a nice hunk of meat. I ordered it medium-rare and it came out just right - maybe a bit more rare than medium, but I liked it. Definitely a good replacement for the Prime Rib that ran out =/ haha

Other plusses - Great service! We never had an empty water glass and the server was checking in just enough for drinks and all.

The minuses - No cracked pepper - none for the salad and (more disappointing) none for the steak. Sad day...

Overall... I'd give it a mid to high 3 sort of rating. Pretty damn full and plenty of food... it came out to a bit less than $50/person with drinks. Mmm... now to work off Fat Tuesday...

OMG-this place is classic and the food is FABULOUS! Growing up, I loved an old joint in Culver City, CA called Joe Petrelli steaks. Later, I learned to love the Safari Room and the Old Sutter's Mill in Mission Hills.
If you like GREAT steaks, prepared perfectly, classic, original waitresses, stout drinks and spot on service - this is your place. The style is kitchie 60's western, the wait staff even wears cowgirl costumes - the best!!! The steaks, shrimp, ice cold lettuce salads are incredible. It's like a walk back into my childhood. Prices are fair and its an ultimate "joint" for this part of the country.
