I absolutely love the Stack. I come here on a regular basis and every time that I come I get the Hungry Man's breakfast. You don't go to the Stack for dinner, or for steak... you go there for brinner. Breakfast for dinner is the best thing in the entire world and the Stack is the best place in Jersey to get it.
Steakhouse? I don't know about all that, but their breakfast is pretty darn good. Scrambled eggs, good. Pancakes, good. French Toast, good. Home fries, eh. Toast, toasty. Coffee, average.
The place is clean enough and the service was good.
Expect a wait on a weekend morning, as this place is jumpin. Really, we waited for quite some time for a seat and this is not ideal when hung over and in dire need of caffine/food, so plan accordingly.
All right, the short version? The waitresses are possibly the best in the business, efficient and friendly and very alert. The dining area is all right, clean, but the booths are tight and I'm six-two so this is A Concern. Kids are welcome and made to feel welcome, oddly. It's located on the Passaic but doesn't take full advantage of a terrific water feature like that -- come on, the crew team on the water in the early morning is pretty cool.
In more detail: parking is at a premium on Sunday mornings but we still managed a spot near the door (thanks God). The diner is always open, every day of the year, and closes for the night anywhere from 9pm to 6pm. This is not A Bad Thing: this means they have downtime to clean the place and keep it from falling apart, and it's obvious they do clean and maintain the joint.
The waitresses were very good at their job: coffee never dropped to critical levels, kids had crayons and placemats, parents had extra napkins, food came right out, and the check hit the table at precisely the right time. Really, a good trip.

This place is always busy on Sundays but it's worth a visit. I've heard that their chicken sandwich is the best, but each time I go it's to have their eggs and pancakes which are pretty good, I'll go through the rest of the menu in due time. Parking is alright, if the main parking is full you can park across the street. I lived 2 blocks from here before but didn't discover it till just recently whenever I visit the area.
