High tea at the St. Regis feels like stepping into Victorian England. The elegant Maxfield Parrish mural is so regal and simple above the bar it feels out of sorts in midtown Manhattan. This place is cost prohibitive for most (including me), but it's still an excellent escape from the hustle if you can manage it.
I should preface this review by stating that I am only rating the food at the Regis. I recently came here for a business lunch and I was very pleasantly surprised at how delicious the food was. We had a group meeting in one of the dining rooms, so I think the food was prepared in the hotel's kitchen (not the lobby restaurant). We were served chicken breast with risotto. It's hard to fathom how on earth they made the chicken breast SO TENDER and juicy. While I love chicken, you can only do so much with it, but they were able to preserve the tenderness and juice of the thick chicken breast like I've never witnessed before. The risotto was also astounding--the plump green peas burst with juice and the texture of the risotto was incredibly creamy with just the right amount of bite in the rice.
I highly recommened this place as a dining venue, and for those who are staying here, you will be pleasantly surprised with the delicious care with which the food is prepared. Certainly 5 stars in my book, and the waitstaff is incredibly warm and attentive.
I love my niece and nephew undyingly. But, I respect how the hotel bar didn't let them chill there after 5 pm. It was a nice spot. I was sort of loving the tea times happening all around. Go crumpets!

I love the St. Regis. Not only is is insanely luxurious, but I think the staff here is truly amazing. I've never experienced any kind of snobbery and they've always been so helpful. Unfortunately on my last visit, I was quite ill and they were so nice. They arranged for one of the house cars to take me to the hospital and they didn't even charge me for it. How many luxury hotels will do that? Most do give great service at a price, but I was very greatful for what they did.
The location is great, particuarly if you're a shopper. You're within blocks of some of the best stores. The hotel rooms are well maintained and very elegant.
The St. Regis is pretty pricey but in their case, you definitely get what you pay for. Great place to stay in NYC and I will be happy to return.

VERY, very pricey. I went there recently for a fashion show. They do that sort of thing extraordinarly well. The one wierd thing about the place, though, is the lobby -- it's very elegant, but surprisingly cramped for a hotel of this calibre. However, I will concur that the staff does a great job, particularly for a U.S. hotel. (Note to travelers who have never been abroad -- we really don't do hotels well in this country.)

Wow, this place is toney and posh. Personal butlers, high tea, and free truffles make this hotel the height of luxury. The place looks recently re-modeled as well.
I give this place 5 stars since I am not paying the bill; If I had to pay the $750-$1000 per night personally I may have changed my rating to 4 stars.

Is it just me or does the St. Regis just define luxury? From the King Cole Bar to the plush guest rooms, even the lobby and gym have an overwhelming sense of posh. Every floor has its own butler, for you to do with as you please-I've personally never been comfortable enough with the idea of having servants to take advantage of this, but it's nice to know they're there. The rooms have everything you could want. In fact, the only negative thing I could say about the St. Regis is the price. But if you have the money to spend, there's no place better than here!

The hotel is older compred to the hotels in Orange county and San Francisco. The elevator was ridicuolously small. I was surprised I could get my love handles through the elevator doors. This St. Regis gets 5 starts because they have the best shower. I occassionally take a shower because its hard for me to get in and out. Its also hard for me to wash the numerous folds on my belly and back with a standard shower. But the shower here was awesome. Built out of all marble and the largest shower head I have ever seen it was able to cover my entire body (seriously!). The rest of the room had a victorian feel as it wasn't modernized like the other St. Regis hotels Ive been in. Again each floor had a butler and an electronic console. But the main event here was the shower. Even though I saw Larry Bird and Dr. Jerry Buss (owner of the Lakers) they sucked compared to the shower.

Located in the heart of Midtown Mahattan this landmark hotel is gorgeous the minute you walk in. The hotel rooms are elegant and the service is exquisite, it is an old school NYC hotel. Just a short walk to both Central Park and 5th Avenue it is a shoppers haven. The small bar is quaint and unpretentious.

By far my favorite hotel in Manhattan. I've been staying here since I was a child and love it! The suites are amazing a spacious. Even the regular rooms are spacious(compared to every other NY hotel room). Room service is quick and the food is delicious.
The decor of the rooms are easy on the eyes; and are comforting, smooth shades. Antique furniture. The lobby is amazing and for some reason everytime I enter this hotel I couldn't be happier.

*High Tea Review*
It should have been the highlight of my trip to New York. The chance to have High Tea at the St. Regis - where by the way I was staying. It was a terrible experience. The tea sandwiches were DRY...and not very tasty - truth be told. The service was basically a drop and run. If you need anything after they bring your tray, good luck. We sat for 20 minutes trying to get any of the very inattentive staff's attention and I finally got up and had to ask a manager to send someone over. I was so disappointed, I actually left. The service was pitiful (and for the St. Regis, where the concierge staff is amazing, that is really a statement) the food was bad the price was high. It was totally horrible.

It's always a toss-up where to stay in Manhattan but the St. Regis is one of my preferred choices. Not only does it provide 24 hour butler service, truffles from one of my favorite chocolatiers and some of the most beautiful suites in the city, but it also has chandeliers - yes, chandeliers (the big kind that would normally hang in a large room) in the bathroom!

Tea Review only.
I have never stayed here, but have enjoyed traditional afternoon tea. This is one of the best bets in the city if what you are looking for in a tea are the following:
A level of formality
A three-tiered platter of goodies (scones, then sandwiches, then petits fours)
Silver strainers and waste cups
Real Devonshire (clotted) cream
You can add "champers", caviar or dessert wine, but who needs it after such a lovely tea? The sandwich selection is a bit more modern and you won't leave without dishing out at least 2 $20s.
Perfect for a day with the ladies, a small party or just an indulgent afternoon.
