The St. Julien Gingerbread Tea is the best... Tea Forte tea, homemade pastries, cookies and best of all, you can decorate gingerbread cookies. How absolutely adorable. I took grandchildren to the St Julien after going to the Boulderado for (7) years...
no comparison... the St. Julien respects their customers and the girls had a fabulous time. They even gave them monogramed aprons and chef hats... what a delight. They even had a pastry chef available for decorating the gingerbread house.
Even the littlest at the table said that she wanted to come back here next year for the tea party. Really, it was perfect. What a whimsical way to start off the holiday season.
Great fun. Beautifully presented. A real five star event.

This review is for the spa services.  I have no clue if the hotel is up to snuff, but if I had to guess, this place would be way too pretentious for me to sleep here.  There were certain aspects of my visit that deserved 6 stars (massage with Eric!  Ask for him!) but others that I could have done without, which bumped their star-worthiness down for me.

I scheduled a massage and a facial back to back several weeks ago, and that was painless enough.  As soon as I arrived, I was helped by a front desk associate who was aloof and didn't really seem to like her job much.  She got me checked in fairly quickly, but I expected more 'welcome' from a hotel/spa that claims to be a luxury hotel.  Then Molly, another associate, gave me a super quick tour of the locker room and got me slippers.  She was sweet - I saw her around the spa several times and she always seemed to be busy tidying up.  The locker room and restroom area were clean and they have everything you need - lotion, face cream, mouthwash, razors, etc. - so need to really bring your own stuff.

I waited in the lounge area which was definitely not serene and peaceful like I expected.  There were a bunch of young girls there talking loudly and so all hopes for relaxing before my services went out the window.  The space itself is nice and warmly decorated, though, and they have trail mix and cucumber water and different teas.

My massage with Eric was phenomenal.  Like I said, I'd give the guy 6 stars if I could for the awesome deep tissue massage.  The pressure was perfect, and he checked in with me before the massage, during, and afterwards to see how it was going, without interrupting the flow of the massage.  Amazing.  I'm coming back to see this guy for sure.

My facial was less amazing, and although my esthetician was friendly enough, talk about upselling like no other.  I realize that at most spas this happens, and is probably even required, but I wasn't sold on the products the girl was raving about, and I'm big on seeing where your client stands first before shoving products down her throat.  I did end up buying one of the products because I happen to be a product whore, but man, when I'm not feeling it, stop telling me to buy your overpriced products, woman.  I'd say this is one area that I cannot stand; I've happily purchased products from former spas I've been to when I felt like the esthetician was making it about my choice and I felt like there was no pressure.  However, I kept being told "Trust me" by the esthetician - I'm not going to just "trust you" and buy something simply because you say that.  Bah.  Kind of pissed that this was my experience, because I'd have gone back and given them more of my facial business if this hadn't been what happened.  Won't be recommending them for a facial anytime soon.

I will say that my checkout process was much more friendly than check-in and more cordial.  So a quick recap - go here and ask for Eric for a massage - seriously, if you want a spectacular massage, he's the one to ask for.

The spa at St. Julien is hands down the best in Boulder. I invited the girls in my family to a spa day and it was fabulous. We had mani's and pedi's, and only one of us had a massage, but we took full advantage of the jacuzzi and pool. What a wonderful way to spend time in Boulder during the cold winter months.

A great place to stay for rooms with balconies. Very classy but still in informal boulder, so its casualish.  Very good room service and very accommodating staff. Very high quality everything. We stayed here for a concert at red rocks and the drive was manageable and our trip more enjoyable for the vibe and atmosphere at this hotel. It is visually very vibrant, and they play digital images though the hotel and on your in room tv.

Let me tell you, it's tough being married to a hotel snob.

The St. Julien was perfect for our stay in Boulder. We had a balcony king suite that had a canopy bed, desk, chair and ottoman. The bathroom had a glass shower, soaker tub, big mirror and sink, separate happy place room, two robes and was stone and granite throughout. The room was very stylish and had amenities you would expect with plasma TV, iHome radio, iron and board, safe, and a Kureg one shot coffee machine. They had a prairie dog toy that our kids got to play with during our stay, they really liked their new friend. We were easily able to spread out in our room and we slept great every night.

Staff at the hotel was spot on with everything. I appreciated the heads up from the barkeep of the happy hour deals ($3 Fat Tires!) when I kept grabbing them and running up to the room to watch the Bulls collapse. The bell desk and valets were right on anything we needed. Like the bikes we borrowed and rode along the scenic Boulder Creek and through the CU campus. Can someone tell me why the Univ. of Colo is called CU and not UC? There are many seating options in the lobby near the fireplace or outside on the beautiful patio with stunning views of the surrounding mountains.

We got a rub in the spa too. It was relaxing and they had everything you would expect from a top spa. I pretty much had the run of the men's side to myself, which is fine by me. I don't need to be making friends in the steam room, dude at the Equinox I'm looking your way.

Luxury comfort and a gracious, helpful and genuinely nice staff.

    HAPPY HOUR WITH A VIEW

If your prior experiences with hotel happy hours are confined to well liquor at your run of the mill Embassy suites, prepare to be wowed.

Do yourself a favor and swing by the lobby of the St. Julien around 5, grab a seat with a view of the mountains, and prepare to be bathed in the warm glow of the setting sun while enjoying small plates and local brews.

Only negative is that they don't seem to have enough servers to handle the crowds, so be nice to your servers and maybe order two drinks at once.

This hotel encompasses all that I love about a great hotel. Chic decor. Plush amenities. Fantastic service.

The location is in the hub of everything downtown Boulder. Very warm and welcoming, yet classy. I will absolutely recommend the St. Julien Hotel to all of my friends & family.

I now have yet another reason that I am dying to return to Boulder.

I've had a $20 pedicure and a $60 pedicure.  The latter usually just provides better ambiance and a longer/more thorough scrub and massage.  What I was expecting from $75, I don't know, but I definitely expected more of the $60 treatment than the $20.

I was in and out in 35 minutes so it wasn't exactly a luxurious and relaxing experience.  The pedicures are done right in the hair salon (next to the girl getting her split ends cut and talking obnoxiously loud on her cell phone).  I wasn't going to post my discontentment until 6 hours after my pedi, a huge chip appeared on my big toe.  Really?!  Cheap pedis last weeks-this one should certainly meet the same standards.

Will probably not use the St. Julien for any future spa services.

This review is for the spa: my wife got a mani-pedi there.  It cost $150.00.  It was a complete ripoff.  It wasn't even in the spa - just a salon environment.  Just a plain mani-pedi: $150.00.  That's insane.

This is the absolute nicest hotel I have ever stayed in.  If my room wasn't paid for by someone else, I never would have been able to stay here.  You truly do get what you pay for.

I spent three days in a suite-style room with two other people.  The main room had two plush full beds and the spare room had a sofa bed.  While the beds were very comfortable, the sofa bed left something to be desired (not surprisingly).  The bathroom was huge with a shower stall, whirlpool tub, huge sink, and a private, separate toilet area (thus allowing someone to use the bathroom even if someone else is doing their hair!).  And, oh, the bathrobes.  I would have stolen one if I could.  There was also a second vanity in the suite's hallway complete with a coffee maker and fully-stocked fridge.  The best part, though?  A beautiful patio, complete with comfy punge furniture, that had a great view of the mountains.  The perfect place to enjoy a glass of wine on a warm evening.  The second best part?  The chocolate-covered oreos they leave in your room every day.  Oh, heaven.

Needless to say, the room was pristine upon arrival and the staff members were very friendly and helpful.

As I was here for a conference, I also got to experience the conference rooms, which were some of the best I've been in.  My only gripe is that they were quite chilly.  Given the high altitude in Boulder, the hotel provided endless pitchers of water to keep us all well-hydrated, and there were also hard candies in abundance at each of the conference tables.

Each morning, we were treated to a coffee bar...and it's a coffee bar like no other.  It included two different types of coffee, hot tea, and hot cocoa along with: milk, sugar, chocolate shavings (both mill chocolate and white chocolate), marshmallows, chocolate dipped spoons, fresh whipped cream, crushed peppermints, and a few more things I have forgotten.  What a fabulous way to start the day.

    Highly recommend!

I've stayed at this hotel at least a dozen times while traveling on both business and pleasure. This hotel is the one and only hotel I book when I come to Boulder. It's charming, beautiful, comfortable, in a convenient location, a friendly and reliable staff, reasonable rates--and they have a fantastic spa.

I prefer to have rooms that face the Flatiron Mountains when I book here. The site is breathtaking all times of the year so to me, it's worth the small premium they charge to stay in one of these rooms. I wish these rooms had balconies though. Just one of the few disadvantages that you'll find here.

The spa is something you should not miss. They offer many treatments that will leave you feeling relaxed and re-energized. I've had several services done here and I've never been disappointed. I'm sure you won't be either.

I've dined at Jill's restaurant in the main dining room as well as had cocktails in the T-Zero Lounge. Jill's has pretty decent food but to be honest, nothing to brag about. The T-Zero lounge has a cool, kick back kind of atmosphere but the dome room with the padded seats is too cool. Great for large groups.

I hope to visit the St. Julien hotel again soon.

Great Hotel, great staff, great music and good eats. My wife was there for business so I took the opportunity between her clients to stay with her for the last couple of days. This is her 3rd stay at the Hotel and she has always spoke highly of the place, now I see what she has been talking about. It centered in a great location to everything great in Boulder. She will be posting pics on her web site at http://internalgroove.com please go and check them out.
The first morning I woke up to a beautiful day of snow it was cold for this California boy, but I loved it, especially looking out at the flat irons, spectacular. Boulder is an incredible city for foodies and the night life.
    Go and enjoy.

I stayed here for one night and was pleased with the amenities and location. It is a four star hotel though, not a five star and rather expensive.

I downgraded this hotel because of a couple minor things:

    1) NO HDTV. The tv was HD compatible but the hotel didn't have a subscription?? Maybe it was just my room since I only had a standard king room.
    2) Room service for breakfast was LATE. The tickets what you hang on your door before you go to bed at night have delivery times with 30min windows. In my experience, most room service comes a little before the time you've selected. Not at SJ, mine came nearly 20 min late. Maybe other travelers don't mind this but I am not a morning person and I'm always running late anyways so I don't need another factor contributing to my problem.

The pool and spa are gorgeous though!

Wonderful hotel with genuinely friendly staff, lovely and clean rooms and a great location.  We stayed here recently (me and my 9 month old baby) and had a great time.  The location is perfect and we were able to stroll to dinner every night, even in the snow.  The Pearl Mall is very close and it felt safe being out at night.  The valets were super-friendly and the concierges were ultra helpful too.  We especially enjoyed the live music on W & Th night in the lobby.  It gave the evenings a real local flair that was really welcome since the hotel is glitzy and Boulder is more low-key.  Love Boulder in general and would move here if not for our ties to the Bay Area.  I think the friendliest and nicest people in the world live in Boulder and Denver.

My only warning would be to avoid the hotel restaurant and room service if possible.  The folks in dining are very nice but the food is not as good as what you'll find downtown and they were late with room-service breakfast (a real no-no since most people order room-service breakfast because they have to be somewhere at a certain time.)  For great food, you must go to Frasca (5 stars!) and have the Brique Poulet at Brasserie Ten Ten which is right across the street.  They make the BEST chicken I have ever tasted anywhere.  It's a nice brisk walk to Frasca too.  Everything I had at Frasca was Michelin star worthy.

3 stays at the St. Julian over 3 years in 3 very different contexts:

    1) Family

    2) Work Retreat

3)Romantic weekend with mah special lady friend

On all accounts, the St. Julian is an amazingly comfortable place to spend a night. It's rare to find a hotel that appreciates attention to detail, embodies a unique style and provides every modern amenity that some other large hotel chains still lack or charge for (i'm lookin at you, wireless internet).

The infinity pool and extra large hottub are awesome, as are the clean (albeit, small) fitness facilities.

Jill's restaurant, located through the lobby, cooks for room service delivery.. and is bizzomb. Just remember, when it comes to the room service, and the hotel itself for that matter, make sure you know what you're getting into, cuz the whole ordeal ain't cheap. That said, you definitely get what you paid for in both regards.

Considering the last few reviewers on this hotel, and my own recent experience, I'd like to take this opportunity to put forward an open memo to the owners of the St. Julien Hotel:

If you do not hire and train better staff, you will go out of business.

    Period.

I took a friend of mine to high tea at the St. Julien. She's a younger girl, and this was her very first experience of having afternoon tea. We dressed for the occasion, in silk and expensive sunglasses, and were thoroughly tickled by the very idea of taking a Saturday afternoon to sip tea and eat delicious finger-foods.

They took our excitement and stomped all over it.

I simply cannot abide bad service, especially when I'm paying an arm and a leg for the privilege of experiencing it. When I go to a high-scale hotel, I expect to be greeted cordially and escorted to my seat. What I got was a (I grant you, perfectly nice) freshman in college who told us, "It's in here," handed us our menus, and left us to find our own seat in the dining room. No word about whether tea was available on the patio as well. No instructions. No "your server will be with you shortly." No "enjoy." This after I'd made reservations - which no one bothered to check, even though I gave them my name.

Nope. She just dumped us and scooted off. To be perfectly fair to her, I'm betting she was actually a waitress in the restaurant and not a hostess. That said, I've seen the prices at Jill's. I want better service than I get at my local sports bar, which is about the level I got from her. Friendly, matter-of-fact, but strictly hands-off. You're on your own.

We waited fifteen minutes for a waiter to notice us. Hardly surprising, since there was evidently no communication from the girl who seated us to the waitstaff who manage the tea service, and since tea is served in the hotel lobby, the waitstaff might have legitimately thought initially that we were just waiting for our room to be ready.

When the waitress arrived, she was again: nice, perfectly polite, and totally void of anything like high-quality service. She asked us what kind of tea we'd like and disappeared. No explanation of the teas, no discussion of the food we were about to be served, nothing. Very take-care-of-yourself, again. Same with the other waitress. It was like putting in an order for a latte at a coffeehouse. For this I wore heels?

I would like to take a moment to note that one of the servers, Christian, was the only employee of the St. Julien we encountered who delivered the quality of service we expected. He was constantly alert for anything we might need, very helpful, ready to explain, and knew exactly how full to fill the teapots so that the amount of water was juuuust sufficient to fill a teacup. He also knew how to say please, thank you, and excuse me, which is a lesson in common courtesy that evidently everyone else skipped. He was perfection.

Only problem? We weren't his table. He was just being good at his job.

So three cheers for Christian. Someone get that guy a raise. If you wanted to make him manager, O Owners of the St. Julien, you could do far, far worse. And considering the quality of your current upper-level staff, you don't need me to tell you that.

P.S. The sandwiches, scones, and desserts served with tea were excellent. My compliments to the chef. Half of high tea is the experience of high tea, and you utterly failed to deliver it.

This place was incredible.  From the valets out front to the reception staff, were amazingly friendly and accommodating.

My wife spent the afternoon in the spa and could not have come back more relaxed.

The hotel is right next to a ton of great restaurants not to mention Pearl Street - great for shopping.  It's also about 100 yards from Boulder Creek - a great hiking trail that actually takes  you into the base of the Rocky Mountains.

This hotel was off the charts...we will definitely be coming  back.

Service in this hotel is more about their ego than your needs! I have never been so frustrated as a guest as there.

So my story is not like the rest. I was in Boulder for a few days doing a press tour for this movie that was screening at college towns across the country. I'm freelance and the studio I was working for just paid for hotels rather than have me get reimbursed on them later.

So I arrive in Boulder, having driven from Tucson, AZ and I was rather eager to get to do all the usual hotel things a traveler does. I get to the front desk and this horrendous twit behind the desk tells me that my room is reserved, but no payment has been sent in. I check my email on my phone to verify that someone had confirmed that payment had been received there earlier in the day. The girl refused to look for it or offer any assistance. I was baffled as to why she wouldn't just go look for this fax that had the studio's credit card number on it. I couldn't determine if she was utterly lazy or fucking autistic. So I decided to go grab dinner and mellow out.

While walking to dinner (with luggage in tow) I call the assistant from the studio who assures me that she had in fact spoken with someone at the hotel to confirm that the fax had been received. I get food and a drink and a sense of balance comes back to me.

I lug my bags back to the hotel and the same girl is still there. I tell her I spoke with my office and that someone at the hotel confirmed payment was received. Still nothing from the brightest girl Boulder can hire to get you a room key in an alleged four-star hotel.

My patience is quickly diminishing as I call the assistant again, who at this point is more worked up that I am. She puts in a call and somehow, magically, the girl finds the fax...stapled to the sheet of paper that was right under her nose the WHOLE TIME. So when I go back the girl offers some half-assed apology saying that she couldn't have known that someone had stapled the fax to this other info sheet from our studio that had my name on it. I had no tolerance at that point and said I would only accept an apology from the manager in the morning.

I get upgraded to a suite for my 3 hour inconvenience. I get to the room and try to answer a few emails before bed. The internet connection is so bad I can't even send email. I decide to turn in and watch a little TV in bed before I fall asleep. No cable signal. If this was a practical joke, these guys would be geniuses. However, they're rates and ego reflect something different.

Morning comes and I ask for the manager. I get the front desk manager, a faux-hawked young metrosexual with an ill-fitting sportcoat just looks at me like I'm taking him away from his manicure.

So I leave the hotel wishing the staff would have been taken out and beaten. A few days later I learn that these scientists put a $70 charge on my card. I call them and noone but the accounting office can figure it out. No one answers in the accounting office on a few attempts. Finally I called my bank and had the charge disputed. So with all that, it's safe to say I would sleep in a bus station before I would go back to this pompous and self-important shithole.

Nice hotel, but the front desk staff is a little standoffish and I wouldn't characterize the environment as welcoming/warm.  The concierge service (in advance of my stay) was thorough and friendly, so I was a little disappointed when the front desk was kind of cool in pretty stark contrast.   The Internet connection was very unreliable and virtually unusable and as a power user this wasn't so good.  I was traveling with one of my children, 9, and I think this was not particularly child-friendly, even though it was passable.   The sleeping was awesome and the room itself was very nice.  Location is great.  I wouldn't go again because it felt too exclusive, too cool to be relaxing and welcoming.

I wanted to like this hotel more than I did.  It's a nice hotel, but the service could have been much better.  A lot of the staff is young and not very experienced with proper 4-star hotel customer service.  The staff didn't go the extra mile...and the toiletries could have been better too.

Oh, and don't eat breakfast there.  There are many other places in Boulder to enjoy good food.

We stayed there overnight once after a failed camping trip.  It's a beautiful hotel.  It just didn't overwhelmed me with its poshness, though it charged me on par with other upscale spa hotels in Colorado.  For the money, I can do much much better (like Sonnenalp in Vail).  The service could have been friendlier, too.  I think this place just rapes you for being the only one of its kind in Boulder.

I guess the thing I was most amazed with is their policy against pets.  I didn't have a dog along with me so it didn't matter, but a swanky hotel in Boulder that doesn't allow dogs??  Wow, someone doesn't know their market well...

I am actually not hating on the place at all.  But if I ever get the itch to spend an expensive romantic night somewhere close to home, I'll be going somewhere else.

There's no doubt about it, this has become the best place to stay in Boulder.  It's a Preferred Hotel, so you won't be getting Marriott Points or anything by staying here, but you'll be glad you chose this great hotel.

This hotel is where you want to be.  If you're traveling to Boulder, its probably because you want access to the outdoors, while being able to take in the fun of this college town/cultural mecca.

The St. Julien is located one block from Pearl Street and is the newest hotel in town.    Its decor fits with Boulder, and if you reserve a room on the West side of the hotel, you get a nice view of the Flatirons.  You're close to most bars/restaurants/attractions Boulder has to offer as well.

The service was excellent during my stay, and I'm really glad to see that Boulder finally has a modern 4 star hotel.  The Hotel Boulderado for years was the only choice for such accommodations, and if you're like me the antique vibe didn't really do much for you.

The St. Julien has a great bar as well as a wonderful Spa.  The pool and grounds are gorgeous, and they let guest ride bikes for free.

You'll love your stay here and perhaps most importantly, you'll really get the 'Boulder experience' sans Patchouli...

I didn't have to pay for my stay, but I know this place is expensive.  With that said, I found the staff to be extremely helpful.  Our bell boy was super friendly.  We had like 10 bags we needed to bring up to our room.  Once he got everything in, he provided us with some wonderful tips for our road trip.

When we checked in, we were booked for a room with 2 queen beds.  That didn't make sense for me and my boyfriend, so the staffer recommended we get a room with a king instead and made the change for us.  I loved our 4-poster bed, although my bf was complaining that the pillows provided were either too soft or too hard.  Haha...he reminded me of Goldilocks and the 3 Bears story.

The bathroom is very spacious with both a soaking tub and a separate  standing shower.  Nice toiletries are provided, including bath salts for the tub.  Our blow dryer wasn't working though.  I'm sure if I called to have it replaced, we would have been brought a new one, but I was too lazy.  They did provide me with toothpaste and a toothbrush at the front desk, so I appreciated that.

The hallways and rooms are decorated with beautiful photographs of local Boulder snapshots.  I thought the decor was understated, modern chic.  I really liked the fireplace in the lobby and the wifi throughout the hotel.  They allowed us to have a later check-out time of 12:30pm.  The real selling point of this place is location.  It's conveniently located on Walnut Street in downtown, a block from all the shops on Pearl Street.

My husband and I stayed here on our wedding night and could have not have been more pleased with our room and the service we received. We were greeted promptly at the front entrance where they immeadiately put our bags on a trolley. When we checked in, since one of the best rooms was unoccupied (a gorgeous sw corner suite), they upgraded us without hesitation. Granted, this was not their typical room, but it was absolutely the best hotel this globetrotter has ever stayed in!

We had a large and comfortable living room with a flatscreen tv and a balcony looking out over Eben G. Fine Park and the Flatirons. We had another balcony with the same view in the bedroom. The four-poster king bed was so comfortable I didn't want to check-out the next morning. Also, I could see the Flatirons perfectly framed in a window at the foot of the bed. And the bathroom! Beautiful marble everywhere with a double size bathtub with a separate shower with a great showerhead (I'm very picky about showerheads) and plenty of hot water. And the whole suite was immaculate.

For out-of-towners the location is unbeatable as you are right in the heart of Boulder and can enjoy the Pearl Street Mall with all it's restaurants, galleries and shopping, or go for a hike, all without the need to get in your car.

PS. I book all the travel for my office and whenever we have clients coming from out of town I try and put them up at the St. Julien! No better way to impress!

I attended the LOHAS conference hosted by the St Julien Hotel and stayed 4 nights in the hotel. It was a lovely experience. The room was stunning with a large and cush bed and spa designed bathroom with separate shower.

They hosted the conference with excellence. The food service staff and drink staff were very friendly. Jill's restaurant was beautiful and served wonderful food that had a fabulous presentation. The house white was Bontera which is one on my favorites.

I look forward to visiting again and plan to take advantage of the spa  and bike service next time. I would suggest including a card in the room that promotes the bike availability.

Whenever I come to Boulder, this is where I like to stay.

It's upscale and near everything: The Pearl Street Mall, a good trail for running, Chautauqua Park, restaurants, coffee at Amante's, etc.

That being said, the staff is helpful, the rooms are nice and most have great views of the Flatirons and the mountains surrounding the city.

This hotel is really 5 star material. Of course I never stayed here during my formidable college years in Boulder, but on subsequent visits back (of course splitting the cost of the room with 3 of my friends) I don't really want to stay anywhere else!!! It isn't cheap, but it is absolutely worth it.

The location is stellar, if you're staying in Boulder you really need to be staying on Pearl Street- and I'm not a fan of any of the other hotels down there. The service is FABULOUS, we ordered chocolate dipped strawberries and champagne to celebrate one afternoon, and they even brought Cosmos up to our room late night- and never turned their noses up once! The spa is great- we had massages and nobody was disappointed in the least. And the rooms are perfect all around stylish, clean and the beds are comfy!

Bottom Line- it's like a W Hotel sitting in the perfect location, in the perfect little town at the base of the Rockies. Don't miss it!

Great place for happy hour on a warm day. The back patio has a great view of the best landmark in town - the Flatirons!

Haven't been here since they opened- went for drinks the other Friday night, had a VERY good yellow cake martini- definitely YUMMY-

other than that, the bar was  the usual overdressed, overpriced,  pretentious scene which you usually don't see in Bldr... but then again it's nice to have a place like that so all of those type of people can congregate in one spot and leave the rest of the town to us locals. Wouldn't go back, still bitter about how they knocked down the locally owned companies to make Boulder more like Aspen- boo, hiss, boo

The St. Julien spa is one of the best spas in Boulder. I purchased a day package for my mom last Mother's Day, and she loved it.

The facilities are nice and clean, very soothing, relaxing. And it's also located in the best hotel I've ever stayed in. And after your treatment, make sure you stop in at Jill's for a snack.

Of all the Colorado hotels east of the divide, this is the nicest one I've visited.

I was there for 3 nights for a work off-site and I enjoyed every aspect of staying there.  The rooms were big and nice, great bathrooms, beds, decorations, and a warm feel overall.  They have a great turndown service, and may leave you a few chocolate covered oreos!

The lobby and lobby bar are very charming, they also have a very nice gym and lap pool.. It's right at the foothills of the flatiron mountains, so the views are really pretty.

It's a block from Pearl street, so easy to walk over for a bite or some shopping.  They have $15/day valet, go ahead and splurge on it.

The room service was friendly and  good, they have free interent access as well - something I like!

I didn't hit the spa, but it looked quite nice.

After twenty too many at Brasserie Ten Ten, a group of us decide to camp out across the street at st Julien's.  I've been dying to stay here so this was the perfect excuse.
We had a nice room, a bit away from the elevator (which was fine by me) and the bed comfortable.
I was a bit disappointed that the windows were not clean but on the upside, it was on the outside versus the inside.  (Not sure what the heck was going on outside to leave those kinds of streaks.....)
The staff seemed a bit too pretentious but then again, so did most of the guests.
I wouldn't mind going back without the drunken entourage to give it another shot and try out the spa.

When I tried to order food from the lobby during a concert, no one would take my order.  In fact, some manager-type actually said I couldn't order food in the lobby.  (Then why were there menus on the little tables?)  He even threatened to throw me out!  I wish he had tried.  Can you imagine a nice mom with a little girl, husband, and another family, dressed up and trying to have a good time being strong-armed out the door?  What a complete jerk.

Oh, how I wanted to LOVE this hotel, the location can't be beat, but I only just "liked" it.  It had many good qualities and could be great, but they are lacking in a few areas.  Spa massage was sub par, no coffee makers in the room (which they did in the past), and even though coffee/tea is offered on the 4th floor in the AM, when we went it was not there.  We advised the desk that the coffee was not out and they played dumb, not offering any alternatives.
The bar staff we encountered was awesome and went out of their way to help us and make our stay great.  We did not eat in the hotel restaurant, so I can't comment on that.
The bathrooms kick butt, just wish the tub was jetted, but it is a great big deep soaker!  The spa has a nice steam room which I would use in lieu of services next time.
Valet was great, the friendliest of all the staff.  They hooked us up with some bikes so we could ride the Boulder Creek path, which I recommend.  They also gave us some maps for a couple places we wanted to check out.  This hotel is also VERY expensive, so be prepared for high prices.  Two days ran us over $700 for a king room w/balcony.
If we come back to the area, we will stay here again and give them another chance to let me love them.

Springtime. Supposed to mean vacation, right? So why are you still chained to your desk, depressed that the only "glow" you'll get this year is from the odd toxic rays from your computer?

Before you resignedly drag your exhausted self through yet another week of long commutes and non-stop chores, allow us to present you with an alternative - a nonstop weekend of S&M at a posh boutique hotel (that would be Spa and Mountain air.)

The destination for this mini-break of sorts is the luxe and eco-chic St. Julien Hotel. Located in Boulder, this high-style, one-of-a-kind hotel comes with all the trappings of any top-notch getaway (read: stunning mountain views, custom-made beds, oversized slate bathrooms, world-class dining), but the real story here is the spa. Ten thousand square feet of absolute bliss. You can wash the winter doldrums away with one of their Pinon and Pine Body Scrubs or maybe try their exclusive Bali Boreh Spice Massage, designed to increase circulation and relieve all your hard-earned aches and pains.

Once you're fully relaxed, make your way lobby-side to grab dinner at St Julien's award-winning restaurant, Jill's. Or, skip dinner altogether and opt for a liquid-martini-diet at the uber-chic T-Zero bar. Then, all that's left to do is head back to your hotel room, pull out the prairie dog (their mascot and their version of the "Do Not Disturb" sign) and marvel at just how relaxing a weekend of S&M can be.
