We RV camped at St George for 3 days and 3 nights and the service + amenities were 5*. The charge is $25 roughly for a day and it includes full service campsite which includes power hook up, water services and drainage facilities. The showers and toilets are clean with hot water heaters.
There are about 60 campsites and the slots fill up pretty quickly. Each campsite has its own fire pit and a considerable private space without intruding into each others areas.
The beach is easily accessible within a 5 min drive. There's long and easy trails to the beach and backwater too which was a lot of fun.
Highly recommend for a peaceful and quiet time by the beach.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Renee F.Hilton Head Island, SC0221Jul 2, 2023
Nice as always
However the popularity has trash in the state park and everybody is fishing. Not the hidden spot of even 10 years ago. Still not as crowded as some beaches are on the emerald coast, but not the sameHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Nicole S.FL, FL22525Oct 28, 2023
As locals that live full time on the island, the state park is our favorite Gulf side beach access. Surrounded by nature and it's never crowded.

When traveling to the area this State Park was one of the places we bookmarked to visit. Traveling to a barrier island is always something I look forward too when the opportunity presents itself. Access to St. George Island is via a causeway / bridge, crossing over more than 4 miles of open water which is one of the things that should be enjoyed, everyone should accept that traveling to your destination should always be part of the fun. While most people that commute to or from the mainland are on a mission and although no two days are the same these locals I'd say have tunnel vision and just want to get from point A to point B and could care less about the adventure, they sometimes show frustration when riding your bumper or pulling in and out of their lane while trying to make an illegal pass while folks like me are taking in the view at forty miles an hour.
After exiting the bridge take a left at the light and you're about four miles from the entrance to the park, this is where the adventure begins. The road inside the park is lined with giant dunes, as the land mass narrows the water begins to appear. I can imagine that weekends and holidays could be busy but today it's total isolation. The salt grass and pines sway in the breeze which constant, the air is clean and refreshing and the sun warms the white sand that is as fine as powder and squeaks when you walk through it in your bare feet. The waves break close to the shore if you're a shell collector you'll have to chase them as they tumble away from the shore enticing you too venture into the water and grab them before they retreat into the deep duunnn dunnn... duuuunnnn duun... duuunnnnnnnn dun dun dun dun dun dun dun dun dun dun dunnnnnnnnnnn dunnnn...Helpful 66Thanks 0Love this 70Oh no 0 - Feb 12, 2021
Beaches and a lighthouse, what more could you imagine is perfection. Well, this park also has public restrooms (clean!) and at least one playground with a pickleball court that sits in the shadow of the famous light house.
Parking was free when I was here during off season so I couldn't tell you how much it might be - or how much might be available - during high season.
Check out the light house. Walk on the beach. Relax!

Dale and Jolene, the camp hosts, at the campground are very deserving of a great review and a big thank you. We stayed several days in the site next to them and they were both kind, welcoming and helpful. The sites and bathrooms were very clean and that was greatly appreciated. We wish we could have stayed longer. Thank you for a lovely stay! Tammy was also very kind at the ranger station/check in.

Clean beaches with stunning views. Natural beauty. We even saw dolphins. Remarkably non-busy for spring break.

Park Rangers are friendly & helpful.
The beach areas are nice very clean.
We found some sea shells big ones at low tide. We saw lots of birds which they were nice to see up close.
We live to shire fish & caught a few keepers & let them go - Red & Black drum.
The pavilions & bathroom are very clean.
Worth the 6 entrance fee.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Oct 22, 2021
SGI SP is at the northeastern end of the island. Our daily admission for auto was $6, the ranger at the gate was very friendly, and I received a good information sheet on red tide. The shower/restroom area is well built and maintained. However, this end of the island has more scrub than trees, so makes for hot hiking, even in October. The beach is great, but you can get that most places on the island. So unless you have a particular reason for getting in, I'd save your admission fee for a winter day, a rainy day, or at least a cloudy day, when you're likely to better appreciate the place without blazing hot sun.
