    12/26/2011 1 Check-in Here

We were out last week, trolling around for somewhere to eat.  Pulled out my trusty phone, fired up the Yelp app, and asked what was close.  Squeelers came up.  What???  Based upon the reviews, we decided to try.  Drove up to a nondescript shopping center with a gas station and the infamous Subway that everybody mentions.  There were not many cars in front of the restaurant...was it open?  Drove up further, noticed that it was.

We walked in, were warmly greeted by Sean, the Owner.  Originally based upon the reviews that I'd seen, I wanted the Chicken Cesar, but then I found out that it was a cold sandwich (that wouldn't do for the cold night that we were having).  We then  ordered three sandwiches (yes, there were three of us) - the Slaw-Py Pig, the Philly Cheesesteak and a Beef Brisket.  YUM!!!  Though messy, the food was extremely yummy.  Sean was fun to talk to and this is one hole in the wall place that I'd totally recommend.

Sometimes a little pulled pork is all you need to brighten your day.

I picked up a Squeeler (bbq  pork shoulder sandwich) and Capri Sun for under $7 bucks. Great price for BBQ.  The sauce had a nice little kick and the perfect sauce to meat ratio was applied allowing the pork to shine in between a fresh tasting bun.  I thought the portion size was perfect, but there are some good looking sides if you are on beast mode.  A regular was talking up the beans.

The owner was cool to talk to with his guitar and amp ready to jam during the downtime.  Chill place, check it out.

    A SLAW-PY PIG, IS A GOOD PIG!
I've been coming to this place for years. A good friend, Chris Giorni and I started doing children's camps in the area years ago and we discovered the pork haven of the hills. Recently we were both teaching  in the area and we stopped in for the pulled pork sub called, The Slaw-py Pig! Yeah, its sloppy good. Mild spice pulled pork topped with a creamy cole slaw. It is a mouth full so when I order it , I put the slaw on the side cause it can be an overload for the hands and mouth. Just add the slaw as you take the next bite, be sure to eat over a table cause it's gong to drip down your arm. Not a good place for a first date, but the third date you might be okay! It'll be a Slaw-py good time!

I really like this place. The menu is fairly small, so if you don't care for pork this probably isnt the place for you. But, if you like pulled pork, it really doesn't get any better than this. The sandwiches are very good at a really reasonable price. I usually ask for extra BBQ sauce to go on them. The portions are large and my wife and I sometimes share just one sandwich. For a little change I like the Slawpy Pig, a pulled pork sandwich containing cole slaw. Very tasty.
Squeelers is one of the experiences that made me decide to move up to the mountains.
The owner is really great- if you are lucky he'll play the guitar for you in between making sandwiches.

Real small place right on HWY 50. My wife went to Subway (Hah!!) While I enjoyed a Squeeler. A very simple pulled pork sandwich that will amaze. It started off the wine tasting day on a perfect note. Not a lot of seating

My first time to go here I got the Chicken Ceasar Sandwich. I almost overdosed on garlic. It was awesome. I wouldn't get one on the the way to a job interveiw though. Another good one is the Chicken Club. These two items are really good. I will likely be frequenting this place. The owner is a nice guy too.

I cannot stress how great this place is. As someone who is not huge on BBQ, I was a little wary. But at the same time, there was no way I was going to eat at the Subway next door. I'd take BBQ over a sandwich that tastes like napkins any day of the week.

The owner was great and friendly, made helpful suggestions and walked me through it all. I got a BBQ chicken sandwich and was completely floored. The sauce was beyond perfect, not heavy or weird-tasting like you get at a lot of places. The sauce didn't hide the food, only complimented it.

While it's a bit of a drive for me, I will definitely be returning.

Walk past the Subway next door and proceed into Squeelers for the best BBQ in the area, and the most outstanding Chicken Caesar sub on the face of the planet (if you like garlic)!  But even better than the food is Sean, the owner.  He's an amazing musician, and if you stop by on a slow afternoon you'll find him strumming away in a chair out front - take your time ordering and enjoy the entertainment, or strike up a conversation.

There are a couple tables if you want to eat there, but this is mostly a take out/catering operation.  If you're ever throwing a party and don't want to cook, Sean's the man to call.

OK. so my Dad lived in Cameron Park since I was 9, and always told me about this place. Your probably wondering where Cameron Park is. It's about 30-45 min drive (depending on how you drive)from Folsom. It's convenient right off the freeway in a little shopping center. The owner is always there and he is very friendly. The meat here is VERY good. Not dry and he gives you good portions. My Dad would always get the chicken club sandwich (that's 5 stars alone). I would get the ribs. Let me tell you these are some pretty good damn ribs. I know it's waaaaay out there but it's really worth the trip. Sometimes you have to go out of your way to find hidden treasure's:D

Get the "Sqeeler" sub. $5 of pure heaven. More meat on this sandwich than in two subs next door.

My wife loves the Chicken Caesar.. I love the Chicken Club and the Squeeler. Not a ton of options and very low brow but delicious sandwiches at good prices. It's a one man show and the owner is always friendly and willing to chat you up. Mmmm, my mouth is watering!

I agree with the other post here, walk past the subway, and step into squealers. Once you start eating, you don't want to stop.
