P*town to me has never been known for memorable food.  oh except the one time I got sick on some nasty linguica.

but this place really started a turnaround.  fairly typical pub fare, except with some twist (hey, it's P*town).  cool clientele, cool service, great vibe.

suffice it to say, we came back the next night.

Waitress was rude an not accomadating and she basically threw us out at the end of the meal to make room for more guests! Food typical bar crap, my salmon burger was super dry. Don't bother. Beer was ok

My friend and I need a place to drink before we eat.  So this is the place to grab a drink and maybe some oyster shooters.  I can't drink without eating something.  I was gonna get their big bowl of $3.99 fries, but man... I am a bit overload on all the fried seafood.  So the oyster shooters caught my eyes, $1.75 for each oyster, pricy but could be worse, I got two, side of horse radish, yum, cleared up my nose!  Then few more pints of beer, hell, I was drunk.  I think we changed seat few times just so we can check out this cute guy, or were the cute guys? I don't remember.  The restaurant is also very clean, feels like an old fashion sports bar with a good mix crowd of straight, gay, queens, ladies, and parents.

In January, there aren't a lot of options in P-town. But this place was just fine.  The bartender was friendly and chatty.  I just had a beer, and the selection was fine. They were closing in two days for the winter, so it was pretty empty. I have a feeling my experience is not indicative of what you'll encounter during the regular season.

First things first.  The food is overpriced and the iced tea is sweetened.  (It is my understanding that it should be against the restaurant law to not tell the customers that a tea is sweetened.)

My garden burger was decent, but you have to try pretty hard to screw up a garden burger.  Oh, and the fries were pretty damn good.

My mom had the fish and chips, which were excellent.  The batter was light and flaky, and the fish had been caught earlier in the day.

My brother had a burger, and by looking at what he left on the plate, it was good eats.

My only real complaint about the place is just that they should have a "seat yourself" sign out for all of us dummies who don't know whether we should seat ourselves or look like dorks in the entryway.

One of three "straight" bars in P-Town, which means half-straight.  Great selection of beer, like the Squealing Pig in Boston, but with the special inclusion of Dirty Dick Ale.  Like I said, half-straight is as close to straight as you're getting in P-Town.  Don't look at me, man, I ordered wine.

The food is slightly better than average bar fare, but slightly more expensive too; I can't say I particularly recommend it.  The service is a bit distracted, the fries are excellent, the fish is fresh and the blue cheese dressing is the worst I've ever had, which is saying quite a lot since I'm a blue cheese aficionado.  It's not even that it tastes bland; it's like it has negative taste.

Dennis the Irish bartender is very cool, and the ambiance before the band sets up is perfect: music at exactly the right level to obscure the conversations around you without drowning them out altogether, light bright enough to see, dim enough to still be a bar.  (After the band sets up, it is louder.)  The walls are red, and my wife likes red walls.  We talked about how Maury Povich keeps it real, but Jerry Springer is a sellout.  The jukebox is spectacularly random.  Choice highlights: Grace Jones; The Bridget Jones's Diary soundtrack; the best of the Pogues.

Just like the Piggy in Brigham Circle, Boston except that it's smaller, less fun, has a much nastier bathroom and has a much meaner bartender. That being said I love this joint. It's surly. They don't give a crap how wasted you are. The windows open up to the street. Your drunk wife can embarrass you in front of strangers and it's no big deal, shit, this is P-Town. They have an OK beer selection and will stumble their way through to making you a semi-proper cocktail.

Just updating, I was there last weekend they had a live band who were actually pretty good, they played "seven nation army" with an accordion good stuff.  But I also noticed that when they remodeled that got rid of there jukebox, let me clarify this was a real jukebox where you'd flip though leaves etc it was classic and i mourn its demise.

The Squealing Pig is the best place to eat moderately overpriced* fish and chips, drink Chimay, and listen to Madonna, The Rolling Stones, and The Pogues in all of Provincetown. There are frequently good live musicians performing, there is usually an entertaining and enjoyable mix of people present, and in the winter, it was the coziest place to be stuck in the midst of a blizzard ever. Really.

*by the standards of the rest of the non-Provincetown world, not regular Provincetown by any means.

This place is a nice change from the circuit party/dramafest that is Ptown. It's a decent little Irish pub, with tolerable prices and a laid back atmosphere. Fish and chips with malt vinegar is a safe bet, and the only thing I've had here, since it's quite delicious. I've never strayed from beer here, so i can't speak to their mixed drinks. The crowd is chill, which is a lovely change from the dance clubs.

So we only went there because they have trivia on Wednesday nights (which we won to the dismay of the locals), but the name in and of itself should be enough to warrant a visit.  The place is small but feels cozy and homey.  The food was decent though a bit overpriced.  All in all a solid place to go for dinner or drinks.

For a pub, this place totally rocks!  We had beers several times and dinner once in late April, and we were really impressed.  Their fried chicken is absolutely fabulous.  If you're looking for a cozy neighborhood pub, don't pass this one up.

Easily one of the most underrated gems on Commercial street.  Great pub grub, fantastic soups, easily the best lobster roll in town if not on the entire cape (it's not on one of those typical awful hot dog buns and they top it with a nice thick slice of crispy bacon!).  Their fish and chips are awesome, and their spicy beef kebobs are to die for!  I hear their cook is from Nepal, so a lot of Nepalese spices work their way into the soups and other menu items - which is fantastic.  Best beer selection in town as well, with a fairly decent draft selection and well selected list of bottles (Chimay, Duvel, Dogfish Head, Etc...)  Their draft lines could have been a bit colder this year though.  It's funny that people refer to this place as one of the "straight" bars in town.  The town totally blurs the line between straight and gay whether you want it to or not.  Plus, is there such as thing as a "gay" lobster roll and a gay bottle of Chimay?  Don't worry about labels.  This place is easily the best place in town for a reasonably priced, casual pub meal.  I've been going here every time I visit P-Town and I hope the Squealing Pig sticks around for a good long time.  If you're in town, this place is a must!
