    Pure deliciousness.

As a first time visitor to San Francisco,  I never really had the satisfaction of eating a crêpe before... other than a time or two for breakfast at IHOP. Being from Indiana, we aren't hip with the crêpery trends...among many others, obviously.  After some serious sightseeing on a romantic hiking excursion, the most amazing person on the planet, a Californian himself, recommended we try this place out.  The menu was equipped with a variety of comfort foods including omelettes, pasta, sandwiches and savory crepes. We split a chicken pesto crêpe and a very berry nutella crêpe.  It was the first thing we had eaten all day and let me tell you, it was love at first bite! We went to another crêpery a few days later and it didn't come close to the mouth watering goodness we both experienced.  If you've never experienced it, make sure your first time is here. I highly recommend it!

Nice Sunday afternoon (let's say late noon when all brunch places are closed)
Since we had such a wonderful experience the other week, we were excited to try the other delishious items on the menu.
Boyfriend ordered the Prime rib melt w/fries - 3 out of 5
Tasty meat, bread and fixings (didn't really care for the sweet pickles)
Portobello mushroom stack w/house salad - 2 out of 5
Mushrooms were bland in taste. I'm used to my mushrooms marinated in balsamic vinaigarette. Eggplant made no sense
Bread was soggy and had no taste.
Iced Latte is still the best per my sweetheart's opinion
Bloody Mary was spicy - the way I like it.. but lacked alcohol
    Service is always top notch,
Maybe we'll come back and try other items.. still waiting for my crepe cravongs to kick in.
Guess we were just spoiled from our first visit

    Wow.
So me and this very amazing woman took a break from our romantic day together to refuel and refresh. We wanted a crepe and wound up here. We agreed to share two crepes, the chicken pesto, and very berry nutella.
Granted, we finished a pretty long hike and we were starving, you could have put anything in front of me and I would've ravaged the dish. But when we got that chicken pesto crepe and quickly dispatched it to our bellies. I was glad that was the first thing I ate all day, it felt like I enjoyed it more that way. And the desert crepe was no different, me and my hawt date were kissing each other after each dish to lick each others lips. Yummy!! xD
Will definitely be coming back and highly recommended.

I love the location and the atmosphere but the food here is disappointing. It taste like food from a buffet; over-cooked, and very bland but not in a healthy way.  I went there a couple of times, and I tried different things such as their spaghetti, sliders, fish, burgers, and breakfast to go, and not one thing stood out. I must have rolled my eyes, and thought, "Why did I come here again? WHY?"
I tried  other location,16th and Market where I ordered one of those SF neighborhood omelette, and I'm sad to say that it gave San Francisco a bad name.  I did however enjoyed their homemade jam and fresh orange juice.  Perhaps the next time I order food here, it will be for my hangover. I'll be able to 'squat & gobble' then...

SUUUUCKS big time. I ate here yesterday around lunch time. I met a few girlfriends. We spent about $100. We were chatting and around 30 minutes into our meal the waitresses are trying hard to clear us out even though I'm still eating (and we were getting rolled eyes). At one hour, we were ready to go and our waitress by this time asked a bus boy to ask us to leave so others could use our table. What?!!! How rude. We weren't loud, we were just eating having a girlfriends brunch. I will never ever come here for mediocre food and downright god awful service.

This place is the love of my life. I always make sure to make a pit stop when I'm back in town. Nothing sends my taste buds into a craze like their rosemary garlic potatoes. I've never been a big fan of rosemary, but you can't deny that these potatoes are delicious.

My go-to item for this cafe would have to be the crab cake florentine. I love the texture of the crab cakes and the amazing flavors it brings to the dish. The dish also has just the right amount of hollandaise sauce. Mix these items together with the potatoes and there you have a perfect brunch!

I don't understand the huge crowed every weekend.
When this place had different kinds of menu like dinner set it was a bit decent but nowadays even eliminated the decent dinner set menu.
Hence most of menu it carries now they all processed like food cheese, sour cream, huge portion of artificial tortillas.

Despite of drawbacks if the employes are nice it can prevails it but the quality of service isn't too good either.
Simple solution: Won't go back again.

Take this rating with a grain of salt: I won't go to any Squat & Gobble location during weekend brunch/lunch times any more because the line is just too long. However, on a brisk Sunday night when the menus of other restaurants weren't calling out to us, we sang a great song with this place. My friend and I had been away from SF (separately) for over a week and were tired. A late afternoon/early evening snack seemed like a good idea.

Normally I stare at their huge overhead menu like I'm half in the bag, trying to figure out if an omelette or a crepe would be better, and then getting lost among the combinations, names, and colors. Instead I spotted their new Pan Asian list on a stand to the side and "Shrimp and Giant Shanghai Noodle soup" looked to have good potential. While she had a Diet Coke, I got a freshly squeezed OJ because I order it whenever I can.

Our planned snack became a meal. First, the bowl was huge, on the order of a giant bowl of pho. And we were surprised at how good it was! The veggies were fresh and the coconut-y broth was addictively tasty, so eventually we finished the whole thing. My only complaint is that shrimps are cooked with their tails on - a common gripe of mine about shrimp in pastas and salads everywhere. At least here the kitchen cut the tails in half, allowing for an easier peel rather than pull.

Maybe next time, you'll look for their non-breakfast items. And just because you're ordering at a counter, please consider tipping for service, at the time or later. Someone will both deliver and clearn up your food, drinks, and utensils.

    The food is pretty good for the price you pay;

My favorite omelette is the Fillmore; cheddar cheese, mushrooms, tomatoes,  ham, and some bell peppers w/ toast and potatoes or salad.

The service?  Well, I really don't dig the "tip first" type of bills because tips are earned and not expected.

I'd rate higher because we like coming here and it's a decent meal.  I just hate ending up burning the folks that I write up because my memory never lets me forget the mistakes people make.  Bring us our freakin' coffee before our meal arrives damnit!!! ;)

Not a place for a senior or disabled person.. They will not accommodate you! Find somewhere else to go.

On Saturday, my boyfriend, his mother , and I were looking for a good breakfast place. I had eaten here before, so I thought I would take them here to experience the weekend brunch specials. The place was jam packed, which was expected, and we didn't mind waiting. I had been there before, so I knew what to expect. My boyfriend and his mother hadn't been there before so they were confused. They wanted to sit down and read a menu. The guy at the cash register gave us MAJOR attitude. He told us to read the menu on the blackboard and get in line.

After a few minutes the cashier finally gave us a menu to read (only 1 small one to share). We asked for a table, because we wanted my boyfriend's mother to read the menu and then get back in line to order (she is disabled, wears glasses, and cannot see in dark light) . The cashier ran to tell the manager, and without asking us to explain the situation, the manager was defensive and insinuated that we get with the program and get in line, because they don't make accommodations.  My boyfriend got upset and started yelling, which I don't blame. He did not use profanity, he was just upset and thought it was race related, which I don't suspect was the case, but the manager did treat us and his disabled mother VERY POORLY.

We left and I even came back to try to mend things by talking to the manger in a calm voice to explain the situation. The manager didn't really care and still did not want to help us.

I will never go back to this place again. We had no problem looking at the menu and getting back in line to order. We just needed somewhere to sit down to look at the menu. One size does not fit all! I told the manager that his assessment and handling of the situation was in very poor taste.  That is too bad, because this was one of my favorite places.

Let me tell you about this place: it's a waste of money. The decor and the interior is really pretty and nice, but seriously. I had a side of pancakes and they were the saddest, smallest looking pancakes I have ever seen in my life. They weren't fluffy, weren't soft. I was literally so mad when I saw these things on my plate.
We also got a cup of the mushroom soup, it was so salty and just unappetizing.
Maybe the location off of Haight is better, but this one is just a bummer.

Squat & Gobble has never failed on the crepes. I've been coming here for a couple of years now, and I've always loved the crepes. Sometimes they are inconsistent with the ice cream or how much fruit they put in them, you can tell when they put in a little more effort and when they don't, but overall it's always pretty on point. Goodness.. I've spent a whole lot of money here on crepes...

Anyway, this squat and gobble at west portal is a really nice cozy place, Its a little bigger than the other 2 I've been to, but they're all small and cutesy. I like the ambiance, people are always friendly and at this one they always bring you water. The one at Haight, you have to ask or go get it yourself, not a big deal, but still. I usually always only go for dessert crepes but I've tried the chicken paparedelle (?) which is really good too. Portions are usually pretty big, which is great! Depending on how much you eat I guess. 4 stars :)

Good fresh "feel good" breakfast food. Ok lunch food but with Sub Center across the way, how can you compete? ;)

I like how laid back it is and I don't worry about my kids being too loud. People usually leave behind their newspapers so there is usually something to read.

I used to love the crepes but now that I know I'm allergic to wheat, I just stick with the eggs, sausage and fruit. Still mighty tasty!

Parking is a PITA. Sometimes you can find a spot up the hill by the muni station, otherwise there is a lot of parking spot stalking going on.

So, I have been coming to Squat & Gobble since *09*. Me & my boyfriend had discovered it due to us both working in the Sunset/West Portal Area. I saw an the big Awning above the place that read Cafe & Crepery and I said awwwww I've always wanted to try Crepes & he was like you wanna go there?I was like yeah. Then he was like wel let's go then!I have been going back ever since!

Now, the 1st thing that attracted me to the place is cute formal building with an awning, charming and sophisticated looking from the outside. Then you enter & things are entirely formal they have a huge chalk board with there whole entire menu on the wall. The chalk board Menu is colorful & fun with little illustrations of food. Its funny how it looks so nice being written in chalk. It's super cute. The look contemporary  formal with a lot of pretty red accents even right down to the light fixtures. They have a really nice mural on the wall. This place has character. Every time I have visited this place the staff has been really friendly & nice and accommodating. There was only (1) time I visited where where the staff was disappointed me because they made me feel like they were going out of there way to help us.Maybe the (1) time I went that person was just having a bad day.
Since that time I have returned and they seated us right after they had taken our order. They kept checking back up on us making sure everything was okay & seeing if we needed anything. So, everything was back to normal. Now on to the why they are claimed to have the best Crepes.

I always get the Italian Crepe which is full of deliciousness with a side of marinara & potatoes. It is packed with Italian sausage, onions, black olives, mushrooms, spinach scrambled eggs and Mozzarella topped and pesto sauce wrapped in up in a delicious Crepe. I get mine with a heaping pile of potatoes but you can choose your side. Soooooooooooo good. I crave it from time to time. That is just the beginning I haven't even gotten to the tip of the iceberg. They have delicious sweet & desert crepes too. Oh baby these are delightful & perfect for your sweet tooth. Though you may want to take this to go or bring a healthy appetite because if you try to eat (1) of these desert crepes after the dinner crepes you may still be a little stuffed from the dinner crepes because they are quite filling but hey at least you get your money's worth. Speaking of money's worth despite how good this place is they are actually reasonably priced.

So, let's get into the mouthwatering desert Crepe I took home. I got the Fruity Nutella Crepe packed with Bananas, strawberries, blueberries, Nutella, brown sugar and cinnamon wrapped with crepe top with whip cream. This rich chocolaty spread is so soothing to the taste buds & I can now see why Nutella crepes are so renowned. Any chocolate lover would be a fool not to love there Italian chocolaty goodness. You won't be disappointed with the food or prices at this place. I'm still amazed of all that food for those prices. ;)

    I love this place!

It's located in West Portal, which is amazingly convenient since my bf and i usually have time for breakfast before class starts, we just hop the K from City College and find ourselves right smackdab in front of this place!

The breakfast portion of the menu is amazing. They have a wide array of crepes, both sweet and savory. The menu also does add new things from time to time, so it's always a treat to try out something new from here.

My favorite is the waffles, while my bf enjoys the crab cake Florentine. They dollop the waffles with whipped cream (at your request) and add little berries which really complements the buttery goodness of the waffle itself. The crab cakes are divine and cooked to a nice and subtle crisp.

It's surprisingly amazing that this place isn't packed, but it's probably because we come over in the morning. Definitely a nice place to go to if you're in the mood for breakfast outside of bed.

I came here just for convinces after eating sushi at sunset. This place reminds me a lot like Crepevine in Berkeley. The way they have their menu set up, what's on the menu and seating are all pretty much alike. Even the structure and architect of  place reminds me of Crepevine. So it made me think why are they so alike...? Despite the curiosity I wanted some crepe, and i was hoping it was going to be good. I ordered a fresh strawberry crepe. It took about 10 minutes for the server to bring it to me. When i first saw it I was hoping it wasn't going to be a thick crepe like some crepe places make it. =[. Ok, just because it's thick doesn't mean it tastes bad. And i was right it wasn't too bad but it wasn't the crepe experience i was hoping for. in particular i was quite unhappy with my crepe because 1. the strawberries weren't fresh and i mean i was able to not only taste it but when i peak under my crepe hoping it weren't so, i was right. The strawberries were bruised up a bit and not the usual bright red that was would signify it is fresh. 2. reason why i was unhappy with it was the cinnamon. They had way too much cinnamon on the crepe. What's even worst was that i think when they made it they sprinkled it on top of the strawberry before folding and that's why when i opened my crepe dusts of cinnamon flew out. the proportion of cinnamon to one strawberry ratio was not equal at all. Reason number 3 where was the brown sugar? The fresh strawberry crepe was supposed to have brown sugar and cinnamon. It had my cinnamon but not exactly the brown sugar. After a few bites i gave up.

The pricing is good and the service is nice, but I've had better.

I actually really enjoy this place.

Location: West portal has an ok amount of parking but near Squat theres also parking behind the place, and hopefully you get lucky.

Venue: I love the decor and look inside, especially the giant menu.

Food: alright!! breakfast, lunch dinner whatever you need. I generally pick up a sandwich and i love them all. The club, is my first choice but sometimes ill get some crepes too which i enjoy. The cobb salad is great too!. I always add the onion soup because i love the cheese on top, its so amazing. The potatoes have some amazing herbacious taste going on. Wash it down with a mimosa for breakfast or anchor steam draft for lunch and dinner and its night night time for me.

I like eating here on weekends for breakfast since its not too crowded early in the morning.
I usually get pancakes with eggs, sausage, and it is served with either toast or fresh fruit.
I've tried the blueberry pancakes but the blueberry syrup they pour over the pancakes was too thick and it turned the inside of my mouth blue!
Overall it's a great place, and the outdoor seating is a plus when the weather is nice.

Came here on a Saturday around lunch time. The place was busy but we didn't have to wait long to be seated. This place reminded me so much of Crepevine. Same concept, order your food, they seat you and bring the food over when it's ready.
I order the turkey bacon sandwich with caesar salad, sister ordered french toast, side salad and eggs. Price was under $10 per plate but spent $30+ for my sister, 3-year old daughter and I.
Turkey, bacon with cranberry was okay. It was a tad bit too dry.
Caesar salad was yummy but it was a little spicy. I've never had spicy caesar salad before so it took a little while getting use to.
Sister's french toast: Took a bite of the french toast and was not feeling it at all. It had some kind of spice that I wasn't very fond of. Tasted a little bit like cumin?
Overall my experience at S&G was mediocre. Would I come back here again? Probably since it is at a convenient location.

    Squat & Gobble...

If you think Crepevine has it going on, then I highly suggest you check out a Squat & Gobble.  I can't even express how much I prefer this place, for one, the Eggs Benedict is ALWAYS good here!  The country potatoes is great, especially with the jalapeno tobasco (however you spell it) =) Then you have your crepe's to finish it off, of course I keep it traditional, nutella with strawberries and banana...I'm a happy camper.

Thanks Squat & Gobble! (BTW, much improvement in the last 3 years, I think it's the new staff, a lot more cleaner and better service).

Nothing yells "San Francisco" quite as much as Squat & Gobble does. The service, the ambience, the decor, the daunting amount of food served on a silly novelty-sized plate... and crepes?

I was kind of skeptical of the idea of anything other than sweet being placed into a batter of milk, eggs, flour, salt, and butter, but Squat and Gobble somehow finds a way to make it work.

My favorite here is the Tri-tip melt -- everything from the rosemary'd potatoes, the thinly sliced pickles disguised as paprika, to the cheesy meaty concoction that is the sandwich itself, make it pleasure to both the eyes and the tongue.

Oh, and the coffee here is so strong sometimes that you swear it's made of iodine. Or was it turpentine?

Located right at the West Portal Muni Station (okay.. well technically across from it), Squat and Gobble has always been on my list of places to try in SF. From what I've heard .. it's kinda like Crepevine (which I love), it's located at West Portal (where I went to school), and it has a charming environment (that a girl who grew up eating Chinese food always appreciates).

However, I expected amazingness, but I was kinda let down. The food was alright, and Crepevine was definitely better (I had the Chicken Pesto crepe and D had the crab melt). The service was pretty unfriendly. There were no smiles, no friendliness, and in all honestly, the server looked pissed. I think the only nice face I saw was a male server, who I think could be the manager or owner. He was super sweet when we asked for a box.

Yeah. Iuno. Maybe I was expecting too much. All a girl wants is to be charmed off her feet. Maybe that's too much to ask.

not a fan. at all. this restaurant does not deserve a review with flying colors (or capital letters...). i ordered the strawberry blintz crepe and BLARGGHH!!! what was that? it looked like baby food, bile, grits, and cottage cheese. maybe just a bad choice on my part, but it was grainy and gross! i felt bad, and scarfed some down but even so, the whipped cream on the side was the highlight of my meal which wasn't saying much. the restaurant also smelled like rotting vegetables and sewage. no joke.

well, im glad i'll be returning to colorado soon so i can steer clear of squat and gobble...

    Wine selection: eh.
    Level of deliciousness: not delicious.
Cleanliness of location: get a mop.
    Speed of service: speedy.

Overall, I got a crab melt with gouda cheese.  Not sure how you can go wrong with these ingredients, but it was wrong. very wrong.  There was lots of crab in it (usually that's the problem with crab anything) and lots of cheese but it was gooey and very liquid throughout.  The toast was nothing famous.  The french fries were thin and crispy with some italian parsley, but it was like mcdonalds french fries with herbs.

Luckily my bf and I are fun and we had a good time anyways, but we definitely will not return to try anything else.  Bummer, because I have heard great things before the visit.

Squat & Gobble is located on the corner of a street near the end of the Muni lines (I believe), if its not the end of the Muni lines, it a station that looks like its the end of the lines.

Came here and ordered to go for dinner, surprisingly none of the three of us ordered a type of crepe. We all ordered the different pastas. They weren't bad, but they weren't anything to write home about. For the pasta that it was, I think it was overpriced a little bit.

Not to be a hater, but they also serve Mee Goreng for $8.99, you can get Mee Goreng for way cheaper and more authentic. If I'm in the area and wanting a crepe - I might consider this place, but otherwise would mention the other restaurants in the area.

No complaints -- seems a fair restaurant, complete with both good and mediocre choices. I had the mozzarella and tomato salad, which I enjoyed very much. My wife's crab cake salad was a ton of iceberg lettuce with the crab cake, so when she was done there was a metric ton of extra lettuce left. I'd come here again if I lived in the area. It's very busy and apparently they serve breakfast all day, so it's got that going for it.

Good spot for a brunch.  Mimics the likes of Crepevine restaurants (order at the counter, place you number on a table, and they serve you as soon as the food is ready).

Had the crab cake florentine (pretty good - poached eggs were a little overdone though), potatoes or home fries were nice (crispy outside, soft inside), the "sweet as apple pie crepe" with a scoop of vanilla bean (fav of the brunch), the prime rib melt (tasty), and two eggs sunnyside up with applewood smoked bacon and fruit (they did the eggs perfectly).

Friendly and attentive staff always makes sure that  your coffee cup is always full (a big plus).  I fully recommend coming by if you are in the West Portal area.

I had their crab benedict, it was pretty good. decent amount of crab but i wish there was more crab so the flavor is more obvious.

i did not like their potatoes though, tasted a bit burnt, and did not have much flavor.

Food has gone a bit down since I've been here last. A disappointment to say the least.

I ordered a gobble club (turkey cranberry) sandwich and it was eh. When my order came it was warm-ish. The aioil in the cranberry definitely made it taste a little better but not all that much. I'm really sad. I usually enjoy my meals here, but it was bland, very bland. Eh.

Next time I might skip the sandwich and go for a crepe..

Super yummy spot for brunch. It's kind of a take-out sit-down hybrid restaurant, where you order your food at the cash register and a waiter will bring you your dish. The menu is on this huge Whole Foods-esque blackboard along the side of the wall!

I got the crabcake florentine, which was DELICIOUS. I was afraid the crabcakes would be really bread but they weren't -- it was chockful of crab meat and had this badass spicy hollandaise sauce that brought everything together. The homefries that came with it were pretty mediocre, though.

Definitely a place you can bring your kids to. It was us and 3 other families for brunch.

This is the perfect place for breakfast. Ive been here a few times with friends and its always great. The only thing that sucks is if you want to order hasbrowns you have to order an entire dish. Most places let you order a side but not here. I went one time for lunch and it wasnt that great. Actually I probably will never come here for lunch again. But it is definitly a 5-star breakfast stop. Not sure why yelp gives it "$$", its pretty cheap I took 2 friends here and the bill was a little under $30 for the 3 of us. We also had leftovers at the end.

I am so sad to write this review!  This location used to be our go-to place for breakfast and brunch, but recently it has gone downhill.  We went here on Friday for a late breakfast, there were only eight other tables occupied so it certainly wasn't busy. It seemed to take forever to get our food, and when it finally came up on the counter, it just sat there.  Finally when I got up and went up to get it myself, the waiter shooed me away, saying he would get it.  After all that, the food was not up to the standard that we have come to expect.  You can tell when a diner takes pride in their food, just by the way it is placed on the plate, and it looked sloppy.  We are going to have to find another place for breakfast, hopefully in this same neighborhood.  PS My husband saw a dead mouse on his way to the men's room!!

My daughter and I went to the S&G in West Portal for a late lunch.  This was my third visit.  I love the words on the menu and the ideas it portrays.  My daughter had liked the eggs benedict on a previous visit but said the Bloody Mary was horrid, but we thought we'd give it another try.

S&G is in my neighborhood so I keep wanting to like it; but after three disapointing meals I have given up.  My daughter had a salmon omelet with a green salad side and I had a crab salad.  The seafood in both dishes was inedible and by later in the day we both simultaneously had signs of food poisoning - thank goodness there is more than one bathroom in my house.

    We're done.

The service is pretty okay here. Some points of note:

Fresh sqeezed oj is really good here
The crab salad is not good, canned crab, albeit dungeness it's mostly body bites, doesn't taste very fresh, and you get the occasional thin shell pieces because it's a lot body pieces.
Also, the iceberg lettuce was pretty soggy.

The eggs florentine was actually kind of bad, but the potato pieces with it were okay.

I hear the crepes are pretty good though.

I'll give this place another try.

went twice as its its close to my house just to be sure the first time was ok the second time was terrible.
their bloody mary's are basically tomato juice with salt
we got a strawberry blintz that tasted like pumpkin.
the prices are more expensive than other crepe places in the area.
    the crepes are just ok.
i don' think i'll be going back
