The much anticipated bicycle lanes on Spruce and Pine streets debuted a couple weeks ago.  While the roomy lanes and outlined buffer are nice, the actual ride is lacking.  The road space dedicated to cyclists is bumpy, potholed, and often used by cars as a pull-over spot.

Don't get me wrong, the gesture and execution are very much appreciated.  Having the lanes is way better than not having them.  They do increase riders' sense of safety and the timing was dead-on given the SEPTA work stoppage.

Still, given all the road work that's going on, can we repave the roads first and then line them with luxury lanes?
