We visited last weekend after attending the Miami Beach Antique, Jewelry & Watch Show. We had been walking for quite some time so we decided to sit inside for some air conditioning. We ordered the ruspante panini with grilled chicken, avocado, lettuce, tomato and mayo. We also tried a cheese pizza with chicken.
We loved the soft panini bread and were pleased to learn they are not cheap with the chicken and vegetables. The freshly baked thin pizza could have been crispier for my liking but was still very good and sufficient on toppings.
Service was attentive. We nibbled on the fresh warm bread served before our order arrived. But don't get full on the bread, the portions are very reasonable and the food is worth saving the extra space.
Tania R. and I had dinner here tonight and we were a bit disappointed. Our pizza, though tasty, was cold when it got to us, the bread was w/e, and the service was mediocre.
You would figure with all the tourists in SoBe, that their service and quality would be better.
Overall, it was OK. 3 stars.
spris is good, not great. also, i'm of the belief that if a restaurant has good bread, they have good food. the bread, ehh...mediocre.
i had the bandeira pizza which was good, except it came served on the cold side. salmone affumicato sandwich was good.
good thing about this location is the people watching!
Sometimes they have early bird specials for very basic pizza.
The pizza is OK enough said.
Easy to walk to if you live near Lincoln Road. It's good and quick. Love sitting out by the sidewalk watching the crowd. Sometimes it gets too crowded. Under $10 if you get there before 6pm during the week.
I loved this thin crust pizza (4 stars!) and the deal that we got when we were visiting Miami (5 stars!)!
They had a "Beat the Clock" deal something like between 5pm and 7pm, and the price of your pizza was the time that you ordered it. So if you ordered at 5:33pm, your pizza was only $5.33! And they were pretty darn accurate about the timing, in my opinion. It was delicious and crispy. I would definitely go here for pizza again if I were in the area...
Okay so based on the Yelp reviews, I had high hopes for Spris. I convinced all my friends that this place would be good. Thus, I felt terrible when I tried the pizza and it was...not good. I'm kind of worried that this place is described as the best thin crust pizza in South Beach/Miami. Perhaps pizza quality in the area is not that great?
7 of us tried 4 different pizzas and none of them were memorable. We were about 4 blocks away from Spris and by the time we started eating the pizza, it was soggy. The only thing I can point to is that we ordered take-out. Maybe the dine-in experience is exponentially better?
While this is not the best pizza in Miami, the consensus of Chowhound Florida reveals that this is by far the best pizza place on Lincoln Road!
And understandably so - this is good Italian-style thin-crust pizza right in a touristy area at affordable prices (especially between 5:30 PM and 7 PM).
On top of that, this location is open late (closes at 1 AM daily and 2 AM on Friday/Saturday) - and of the pizza places that are open late, this one is definitely a contender for being the best in all of Miami.
From "Il Naviglio Milanese" to Miami and the Beaches...
The best thin crust pizza in South Beach... Among the Best Pizza of the Greater Miami. Top quality "Insalata di'tonno".
Every time I'm back in Italy with my family, is very challenging to find a Pizza Romana as succulent as the one we have at Spris...
Anchovies & Capers for some a little bit salty, for me one of the Best along with the Carciofi Pizza.
Best deal in Town. You pay the value of the hour for Pizza and Beer between 05:30 and 07:00pm ...if you get there @ 05:45 you'll pay $5.75 if you get there @ 06:15pm, you'll pay $6.25
Ask for Michelle, he is The Best!!
I heart you Spris! You are sophisticated, cool, and fabulous! Love the outdoor seating...so glad we met. My neighbors introduced us, and it was love at first sight!
Salads, pizza, and wine, oh my! Your Caprese, Quattro Stagioni (for us indecisive ones that want a little of everything), and of course the Margherita are some of the highlights. I was even more excited when another location opened closer, but you were always my fave (shhhh, don't tell)...
I now live far, but still think of you and your fabulousness, and when I can see you again.
There are basically two kinds of pizza now in Miami.
First: the doughy, New York style pizza which, well, I'm from Chicago. Sorry, but I just can't understand doughy pizza.
Second: the neopolitan/brick oven style
If I have to choose, I'll take the latter. It reminds me more of Chicago style pizza, with a crisp crust (don't be confused, I didn't say Chicago pan pizza which is a different species altogether - but also crusty, not doughy).
The problem with the hot brick oven pizza is that the ovens seem to be too hot and the pizza tends to burn. As much as I love charred food... How much do I love charred food? I don't, with the possible exception of marshmallows or hot dogs on a stick over a campfire, I don't. Again, not wanting to go on too much of a rant, being a Chicago boy, a pizza should take AT LEAST 35 to 40 minutes in an industrial Hobart pizza oven to get a crisp, not burned crust and browned, bubbly cheese.
Ok, enough about the pizza rant and back to the problems with Spris. Three other times I've been there, I've had mediocre experiences (again with the burnt pizza).
The last time, which will be the last time, it went like this:
Sit. Sit. Sit. Ah, South Beach. Where DO they train their waitstaff?
"Can I take your order?" I'm torn between two selections. The waitress gives me a "what do you like better?" Not helpful or interested, at all. I choose the sliced beef pizza with truffle oil.
Sit Sit Sit. Can we get some more...? Uh, where's our waitress. Oh, chatting inside with her homeys.
Finally the order arrives. Completely wrong pizza. It's delivered by a runner and I send it back. Sit. Sit. Sit. No word. I see commotion inside but nobody comes out and says anything. My friend is over halfway done with his pizza (about 15 minutes) and finally, our waitress shows up with my correct pizza with a wholly inadequate, "sorry." Before then, she didn't even rear her little gothic head.
The pizza. Beef wasn't that good. Seemed like run of the mill cold cut beef. The truffle oil was briefly interesting then just kind of overbearing. Eh. Similar to my past experiences, rates Spris smack dab in the center of "2 stars" or "Meh."
You can never go wrong with Spris. Great pizza coupled with a good beer while people watching on Lincold Rd. Most patrons sit outside like most Lincoln rd eateries.
Always interesting sitting at Spris. Right next door you have "Score" which is a gay bar/nightclub. So you have the gay crowd mixing with the strange South Beach locals and the tourists who look uncomfortable in their current surroundings.
Now on to the pizza. I love the Margahrita Pizza. Simple yet fabulous. Thin and crispy pizza baked in a wood burning oven. I have seen pizza heaven!
I've always walked by this place and I've noticed this place is always on a top 10 list of pizzas in Miami. So I had to try it out.
I wasn't expecting much, but I was really surprised how good everything was. My girlfriend and I ordered the Classica Bruschette, Carbonara (which is tomato sauce, mozzarella, pancetta, sunny side up eggs, parmesan and black pepper), and the Speck e Taleggio (which is tomato sauce, mozzarella, taleggio cheese and smoked ham) . The bruschette was great. The Carbonara was amazing, I loved the sunny side up egg (I've always wanted to have a pizza with an egg on top). The Taleggio was great too.
I think what they focus on is great ingredients which make a great pizza (I know...I know that's Pappa John's), but seriously you can taste the difference. For a South Beach restaurant, it wasn't as pricey as one would think (all together I spent under $50). I will definitely come here again.
hands down best pizza in miami!
very clean and fresh ingredients. pizza is cooked in brick oven and has a thin, perfect crust. they have delicious salads and desserts, too.
my go-to items:
salad: caprese salad
pizza: mozzarella, prosciutto, artichoke hearts (great w/ egg cracked on top)
dessert: profiteroles (this are puffs of chocolate doughy goodness)
I agree with other yelpers that this restaurant is in a prime location on Lincoln Rd. We sat outside on a hot summer day and was surrounded by cigarette and cigar smoke. Ugh..
The food - we order the caprese salad to start and a wheat pizza (forgot which toppings). Both items were tasty and satisfying, and I really enjoyed the crispy pizza crust.
THE BEST pizza in South Beach.
Order that Ortolana in whole wheat.... my personal favorite! The place gets packed, but you can always ask for a table and go to the Apple store right in front while you wait.
thin crust pizza makes me happy =) The place is not bad, but i wouldn't say it was orgasmic. The service could be a little better though. My favorite was mushroom, chicken, with ricotta cheese on top. Their spicy salami was pretty yummy too!
This place has unreal thin crust pizza. If you like spicy, try their pepperoni/salami... it's mind alteringly good
If the weather is nice (which it should be since it's Miami Beach...) eat outside. If you have to wait, wait. It's a great atmosphere and a lot of fun to people watch on busy Lincoln Dr.
This is a good pizza but let's face it, it's nothing like pizza in the midwest. I'm curious to discover if this is really "the best pizza in Miami". Let's face it, people go here to sit outside, have some drinks, keep your dog close by you, and clearly clearly to people watch....which how can you blame them (Um...I mean me).
Not sure how this compares to other places on Lincoln's pedestrian mall, but a solid solid choice.
If your lucky the gay place next door will have some thumping toons and some 70 year old homosexual white guy in Jamaican gear screaming "woooooooo" every 5 minutes or so.
Ahhhh, memories of many nights going here straight from Score (the club next door). ;-)
I've probably tried everything in the menu and I'm a great fan of the thin crust pizzas they have. Favorites are the diabola (with pepperoni) and the Marguerita (cheese, arugula, and tomatoes). the Spris drink that is their signature is good too. But what I keep coming back for is the Saltimbocca, a panini cooked in the brick oven to order. Instead of bread they use a pizza dough. Then they stuff it with first class prosciutto, cheese, arugula, and tomatoes. Finally they press it and cook it in the oven. Super yum!
We were starving at 1am, and thanks to the trusty iPhone, we found this place was open. We got the Caprese salad, which was quite literally an entire ball of uncut fresh mozz with a few tom slices. I LOVE cheese, and i was starving, so it worked out okay, but the cheese/tomato equality was way off. We also got a pizza with Arugula and Proscuitto that was pretty good. I have a similar pizza I get up here in Hollywood, so Im always looking for one to top it.... it came in 2nd.
The waitress was eager to get off her shift (which is understandable, being a server myself), and I cant give 'em too much grief cause they saved our lives at 1am!
Over all, pretty good.
OH! And they automatically add the tip for you, which is weird to me, cause there was only 2 of us.
Mosquito terror and the heat kind of ruined the experience for me, but I wasn't so distracted not to notice the good food and prime viewing location. The server, Manuel A., was competent and brought us the calamari appetizer from their sister-restaurant. Prosciutto-brie-artichoke and Hawaiian pizzas were great.
Great Pizza on Lincoln Road.
We went here based on Yelpsrs reviews. Excellent proshutta and arugula pizza. Great log to people watch too.
Hands-down the best pizza in Miami.
I've been eating at Spris for years, frequently throughout a four-year stint living in South Beach, and often enough since moving across the causeway. Spris has remained consistently fantastic.
Spris fires up its pizzas in a brick oven, and the resulting crispy thin crust is delicious enough to eat alone or drizzled with olive oil and balsamic. The pizza menu lists at least 20 varieties of topping combinations (the recently-resurrected bresaola, arugula, and Parmesan is my absolute favorite), but the servers and chefs are perfectly amenable to substitutions and alterations (sun-dried tomatoes and extra basil, thank you).
Don't just come here for the pizza, though: Spris salads are some of the best I've had in Miami. Try the Di Tonno, with imported oil-packed Italian tuna, roasted red peppers, corn and baby greens in a light homemade lemon dressing. Or get a pizza and a simple green salad with shaved Parmesan and a delicious tangy homemade balsamic dressing.
Appetizers, while decent, are nothing to write home about: the usual suspects of bruschetta and carpaccio. I would skip them altogether.
For dessert, if you have room after filling up on salad and pizza, skip also the cakes and pies, which always taste like that funky smell inside a freezer case. Ick. The pre-packaged sherbets, though, are yummy and fun, served inside their respective fruits' shells. I'm partial to the coconut sherbet, myself.
I'll generally get a salad, sneak a slice or two of pizza off a friend's plate, and end the meal with an espresso. They're not on the menu, but you can ask your server to bring you some Italian almond cookies to go with your coffee. Mmm.
Another little-known fact: while seated at Spris, if you suddenly decide you're in the mood for homemade pasta or a steaming pot of mussels and frites, you can order from the menus of adjacent sister-restaurants Tiramesu or Le Bon instead.
So, despite a couple of questionable dessert offerings and some seriously sluggish weekend service (you'll be too busy people-watching to notice anyway), I think my five-star rating is more than well-deserved. Now go and see for yourself.
This is the best place for thin, authentic-tasting pizza. In fact, this is the only pizza my dad will eat. It's so great, we always get a margherita pizza and ask for some chopped up basil to sprinkle on top and we never have leftovers. Both locations are awesome, but I also order the penne alla vodka in the gables and I'm not 100% sure the beach locations has it on the menu. Either way, you can't go wrong at Spris.
one of the best pizza pies i ever had!!
i had the one on whole wheat with ricotta and grilled chicken.
The best thin crust pizza in South Miami. It's very close to the the pizza in Italy. I personally like the Diavalio -- Cheese with imported Italian Salami pizza.
When I use to work in Lincoln Road, I use to eat here regularly with a colleague from Europe. He always liked their pizza so I assumed it was very close to the kind served in Italy. After I returned from a recent vacation in Italy, I will say that it is.
It's outdoor seating on Lincoln Road with a few tables inside.
BTW, you won't find any pasta served here!
Spriiiiiis!!! Its a good place for a late dinner , snack, or lunchtime. I would always get the bruschetta super fresh all the time, responti panin is a dream treat. My fiance and his coworkers would escape from work just to meet up with me and grab some paninis. The food is so good you want to eat there again a few hours later. : )
Spris knows how to dish out a pizza. I'm not one to venture into the realm of toppings, so I stick with the basics: cheese, sauce, crust and a little parmesan. Lucky for me, Spris has the basics down to a science. What I like about this pizza is the thin-ness. What I try to overlook is the floppiness (I guess it's a side effect of thin-ness), but it's nothing a little drizzle of balsamic vinegar can't hide.
This place is always solid. Everything on the menu is good and the service is on par. I recommend eating outside because it's ideal for people watching. Good for a casual date.
Finally after two lunch disappointments (Rustica & Le Sandwicherie) this trip, the bf & I met at Spris. Hallelujah! THIS is what I was looking for (although more pricey than I wanted). He had the caprese and I had the caesar to start. We switched halfway & both were delicious. We shared the Score which had tomato sauce, mozzarella, grilled marinated chicken breast, cherry tomatoes and basil. One word - delightful! I will definitely be back.
Excellent al-fresco pizza dining, especially if you enjoy thin-crispy pizza. If that's your thing, go to Spris.
Lotsa gourmet ingredients in the pizza selection, I loved my friend's sausage/cherry tomatos/onions/cheese/etc slice but my BF's ham/cheese pizza slice was eh. In terms of pizza competition on Lincoln Road, its more "upscale" then Pizza Rustica and Piola, better people watching here also. It's located across from the Apple Store so you can kill time there while waiting for a table.
How can you go wrong? Close your eyes, and what you taste is very much like what you would get in Italy, and open them to find yourself on Lincoln Road! Pretty good combo, if you ask me.
Grab a knife and fork and eat your own. Don't forget the salad!
Owned by italian immigrants, this pizzeria has much more than homeade pizza.. Foccacia, good salads, fresh cheeses and wonderful breads....
Every day I eat lunch here with my friends. This is a 5-star restaurant on the casual tip, 4 star in the big fancy schmanzy world.....
this is the best pizza i have ever had. the dough.... the thin crust.... the different and all perfect varieties .... its just a perfect slice of italy in miami beach and not that expensive so you can enjoy it .... they also have peroni beer which is awesome ... they also have a desert to die for called nutellina you must try this desert made with superstreched out pizza dough .... filled with nutella chocolate and whipped cream .... a perfect ending to a great night .... great for groups or a date !
If you've ever eaten pizza in Italy, this place will certainly remind you of being on the cobblestoned streets. Whenever I'm in Miami, I have to make it to this place at least once. The pizza is cooked in a wood burning oven, and it's just delicious. Eat at Spris!
Delicious Pizza (nice with a Peroni or Moretti beer) and the service was pretty good too. Pretty fair in prices for Lincoln Road too.
brick oven pizza done right. absolute perfection in it's simplicity. nice folks, good service and cheap as hell. it actually matches patsy's and johns in NYC and that's a huge statement as a born and bred manhattanite. i can't tell you how crappy the pizza selection choices are in miami beach, but go here and enjoy awesome rustic brick oven delicious pizza and on lincoln road where you can watch the beautiful people as you dine. during the week, they had a beat the clock: you get there anytime after 5pm and that is the price of your pie till 7pm. so if you arrive at 5:11 that's the price of the pie. totally off the hook. free refill cokes. c'mon?!, better than sex.
Very good Rome style think crusted pizza here.
