Nearly every time I come here there is a line outside the door which should tell you something... it's worth the hype! Another thing almost anytime I am there we are standing in line with a celebrity... and NO we did not give them cuts!! LMAO the line moves relatively fast but I do recommend that you take a look at the flavors on line before you go in there is a small/tiny eating area inside of the storefront but other than that this is strictly pick up and take out.
I live in Upland and I travel to Sprinkles at least 4 times a year to either this location or the one in Newport Beach. I purchase for special occasions or if I am out for a day in LA.
My daughter loves the Red Velvet my favorite are the Vanilla-Milk Chocolate and the Ginger Lemon. We both absolutely LOVE the Banana cupcake as well. Very sweet frosting I'm talking SUPER SWEET be prepared to have either a tall glass of milk (or if you are like me) Pilsner of ice cold water.

Sprinkles is an experience. You feel a bit of camaraderie with your fellow cupcake-fiends as you wait in line forever and a half. Once you make it past the doors, it's as if you've been at sea for a year and you've finally spotted land. Despite the insanity, everyone behind the counter is super nice. They could get away with a little attitude, but it's clear that they appreciate you being there. I like that.
$3.25 is steep for a bake good, but considering we pay more than that for a mediocre latte, I can suck it up every now and then. The dark chocolate cupcake is amazingly rich, and I could only eat a quarter of it at a time. That's a plus, as it lasted four days (and remained yummy). The seasonal pumpkin and ginger were delish as well, though I had no problem polishing them off in one sitting. I did not care for the milk chocolate...too much sugar, not enough chocolate. Can't wait to go back and try a few more!
Similar to my review of the Sprinkles out in Palo Alto, the Red Velvet is UNRIVALED!
I've been here more than several times and have been WOW'd each and every time. Don't be surprised if you see a celebrity waiting in line with you... I've seen a few. No A-List'ers yet, but definitely celebrity-status nonetheless =)
The staff is always very helpful, even when the line wraps around the block. They're very energetic and just fun in general. They definitely add to the "dining" experience there.
Keep up the great work Sprinkles. Keep opening up more stores! =)
I absolutely love desserts. I'm very surprised that I don't have diabetes because I eat something sweet at least 1-2 times a day. That said, I've tried practically all the fancy-schmancy dessert spots in LA. I think Sprinkles is amazing! BEST CUPCAKE EVER. If you like red velvet, none other will even come close!
When friends visit from out of town, they want Sprinkles. I buy Sprinkles as bday gifts, take them to family/friends who live out of town, and try to have one every time I'm in BH. Everyone I know loves them! I really don't understand why Sprinkles has such a low rating. I know its pretentiousness can be annoying (geez, they even make little doggie cupcakes), but the idea of a cupcake boutique was novel so it was good business to market Sprinkles the way they did. If you aren't a dessert person, don't like sweets or cupcakes, wouldn't pay $3.25 for a cupcake, and hate trendy places, then don't bother with Sprinkles.
People rave about it because it's delicious. While the price could be lower, it isn't outrageous. In fact, it's pretty standard for dessert shops and bakeries in LA. The lines can be horrendous, so go during non-peak hours and try to avoid weekends in general. Also, I recommend you try at least a few flavors. Share some with friends and surely you'll find something you love.
ps. Check their website in advance to see their flavor calendar.
Mmmm, another "must-eat" stop on my LA tour.
I've bought the mixes at Williams Sonoma and although they're decent, I've never found them that much better than what I can make on my own (and the mix price is steep... almost $2 a cupcake!) This still made it on my list since I had to see if the "real" thing is worth it at $3.50/cupcake.
Mmmm, it so is! My only complaint about the store is that it's tiny and really hard to navigate around in - 4 seats inside and 4 outside. Other than that, it was so good I came in twice already! The presentation is beautiful and the packaging is super cute... I almost walked out with the "I love Sprinkles" tee too :)
I had the Red Velvet (SOOO good), the Orange (also excellent) and the peanut butter chocolate (pretty good). The cupcakes are moist and icing is beautiful and tastes good! None of that icky sweet sugary stuff.
I honestly wanted to eat more but since I'm already going to be a size bigger by the time I'm out of LA, I figured I better hold back :)
I waited to write a review for Sprinkles for a while because I went a couple times before and considered myself a part of the cynical few that considers Sprinkles extremely overpriced and overrated.
After paying a 3rd trip to Sprinkles, I am officially converted!
RED VELVET!!! *drool* I adore theee.....
I cannot believe I polished off an entire red velvet cupcake in one sitting even after sampling bites of the Banana Dark Chocolate and the Chocolate Marshmallow.
The two chocolate cupcakes were alright.
The Banana Dark Chocolate is a good pick for fans of banana bread. It tastes like they dalloped a heaping amount of chocolate frosting onto banana bread.
My Chocolate Marshmallow experience can only be expressed with: O.M.G. MILK PLEASE! it's sinfully rich rich rich in chocolate, dense yet fluffy and the marshmallow cream middle adds a bit of relief from the mad rush of chocolate-y chocolate-ness.
The Red Velvet tops all though.
Overall,
+Top quality ingredients
+Friendly and polite workers
+Prompt service (sans the line during the weekdays)
+Adorable decor and design
+Darling little wooden minimalist design forks and knives that you can snatch on your way out
I give them an A +
1) RED VELVET. Enough said.
2) I believe for as good of business as this bakery gets, the prices are a little steep
Sprinkles Cupcakes = PERFEECTION!
I had 1 Vanilla and 1 Peanut Butter and my pooch had the doggy cupcakes. 2 Thumbs up and two paws up!!!!
Jean jackets, CAL football, and Scarlett Johansson's acting skills. All three of these are debatable.
What isn't debatable is how amazing Sprinkles cupcakes are to a sugar lover like myself.
First of all, the service is superb. The countergirls are extremely friendly and fast-paced, and those two things are very hard to balance in a popular place like Sprinkles.
But on to the sweetness...
Every cupcake is a BOMB of sugar, flavor, and crack. (Seriously, I think I read that on the box that lists the ingredients). They don't use preservatives or any artificial flavors, and their cupcakes are freshly baked throughout the day. And you can TASTE it. How phenom is that?
My favorite, of course, is the red velvet. Moist cake, topped with sweet and silky cream cheese. One bite will have you hooked. I got my mom a vanilla coconut cupcake this weekend. Vanilla moist goodness with coconut flakes... *drools*. I ate most of it though, because she thought it was delicious, but too rich for her. I can understand that. The older folks can't handle the crack. Leave it for the young ones, we can take it (and how!)
Their selection is so enticing. I've been coming here for a few years and have really seen the cupcake menu take off. Milk chocolate, dark chocolate, pumpkin, peppermint, carrot cake, black and white, strawberry...so many choices, so many sugar rushes...
I need to check myself into the Betty Crocker clinic.
Sprinkes is hands down one of the best cupcakes I've ever eaten. Better than Magnolia in New York even! (I think Magnolia is overrated though).
My friends and I split 4 kinds: vanilla with coconut top, pumpkin with cinnamon top, red velvet with cream cheese top, and strawberry with real strawberry top. To die for!
Even cooler is that all the cupcakes are 100% organic and made from fresh ingredients. You can also order a warm glass of milk or hot chocolate to go with your yummies.
The long line is annoying, but it's worth the wait.
YUM YUM YUM.
Sprinkles Cupcakes, oh why are you so damn good?
Red Velvet? Hands down my favorite.
Black and White? Second favorite.
Pumpkin-I try to get it as much cuz its seasonal.
Dark Chocolate, check!
$3.25 each-hell its well worth it =]
Sweet tooth fix, mos def.
It's totally an 'LA" staple, and of course that one must try.
I try re-creating my own batch from the mix form Willams-Sonoma..err doesn't even compare, so I opt from doing it myself and drive down and get some.
Oh how I love thee, Sprinkles.
My girlfriend was having a less than ideal week, full of mid-terms, etc. I decided a nice treat would be these renowned cupcakes. I was totally right!
I ordered a dozen red velvet, chocolate/coconut and chocolate/marshmallow cupcakes. They were all tasty but the red velvet was definitely the best of the bunch. Even a couple days after, they were still amazing. I will definitely come back for more.
The line is long so I highly recommend ordering it in, you can just walk right up to the counter and walk out. Easy!
It may be just me but bringing a girl a box of deliciously cute cupcakes on her birthday is a great way to get in her good graces. Their cupcakes are pretty darn huge, probably in comparison with the likes of Crumbs. The presentation of their cupcakes are like a work of art. I almost didn't want to eat them.
My favorite out of the 4 that I got was probably the Red Velvet. If you have read my previous cupcake reviews, you will know how I USE to feel about Red Velvet. I'm not a fan of cream cheese and the thought of it being on a sweet fluffy cupcake? ICK! Anyway, the cake itself was so soft and fluffy. Light chocolate cake with cream cheese frosting, except the cream cheese frosting didn't taste anything like what I imagined cream cheese to taste like. It's also topped with a little button candy which was like finding your way awesome toy in the cereal box. Icing on the cake!
I had a few bites of a chocolate cupcake which tasted wonderful but just way too sweet. I can't vouch for the other 2 but one had some pretty coconut shavings on top and the other had white sprinkles all over. Their presentation is always wonderful and their cupcakes are fecking gynormous. The calories are worth every darn bite!
People say that Sprinkles is overrated. Frankly I don't care what those people think. I LOVE cupcakes and I LOVE Sprinkles!
I don't get down to Beverly Hills or Newport that often and when I do it sure is a treat to go to Sprinkles and get me a cupcake.
My Favorite Flavors are:
Red Velvet
Peanut Butter Chocolate
Lemon Blueberry
Pumpkin Spice
Black & White
Everyone should try a Sprinkles Cupcake!!!
I will be the first to admit, this place has some very tasty cupcakes, very moist and delictable (especially the Red Velvet!) ! However, what's up with this extremely small location? I feel it's safe to say, they've made it big and with that in mind, it's time to move to a larger location in Beverly Hills. The lines are nuts and with all the tourists and locals, it's just not a pleasant experience. I feel for the girls who work here because it's so damn crowded and they try so hard while putting up with all the attitude and varying accents of those coming in from all over the world to sample these cute cupcakes that are packaged in such nice boxes.
This could be a 5 star place but until they move to a larger, inhabitable location, I'll give them 3.
We get a cup of coffee for $4, so why not a cup cake for $4 as well?
These cakes are very rich, but very delicious. Red velvet is mine and seems to be everyones favorite. Best enjoyed with a cool glass of milk of course. Their menu changes daily. They make for great gifts to friends. Every time I have come here, there has been a line out the door, so expect a wait. However, the staff is attentive, quick, and super friendly. Or, if you are clever, you can order online now.
Parking is a thorough pain in the ass. Being located right next to Rodeo Dr. what do you expect right? So if anyone ever purchases one for you, its not just a delicious cup cake, note they had to drive through the hellish traffic of Beverly Hills, find parking, and wait in a line thats longer than tickets for a Justine Timberlake concert.
I don't feel the need to write a very long review about how good there cupcakes are please look at the amount of reviews sprinkles has. Scroll the reviews: The words Red Velvet, Black and white, and dark chocolate just scream out at you.
$10 for 3 cupcakes... Worth it? Depends on your budget lol I often buy the as gifts for "thank yous" or B-day's. and always set aside a red velvet for me!
If you don't like long lines walk on over to Crumbs bakery which is on S. Beverly and little Santa monica.
Sprinkles vs Crumbs is like Coca cola vs the store brand... lol It's a status thing. haha
Yay for Sprinkles! The original. Thank you for being at the forefront of the craze.
I appreciate the frosting versions (red velvet, caramel apple) and non-frosting versions (the cinnamon sugar).
Moist cupcakes, sugar bomb frostings. It's all good!!!
Friendly staff.
Nothing bad to say.
This place is wonderful and the ladies who work here are so helpful and so sweet! I stepped in one morning to pick up cupcakes for work and seriously ended up having the best day ever thanks to the service here. What a kind staff - how refreshing.
All service aside, the cupcakes rock!
I've had the Red Velvet, Banana (YUM), Carmel Apple (seasonal), and another Chocolate one -- all very tasty and everything seems just right! The frosting can be a bit grainy, but the cupcake as a whole does not disappoint and I had no problem with any of it :)
i always remember that Sprinkles was the very first cupcake place, and I really believe that everyone who followed just can't get it as good as Sprinkles can. I love that they have difference selections each day and just wish these blissful treats weren't as harsh on my waistline - otherwise, you bet I'd be having one or even two (ok, maybe 3! lol), every day!!
SPRINKLES = CUPCAKE HEAVEN
i have never been disappointed by sprinkles. many say it's overpriced and overrated, but i've compared... yup, i've battled sprinkles with numerous so cali and even east coast cupcakes. sprinkles is always perfectly moist and decadent. they do use the finest ingredients and it makes a difference (hence you get what you pay for!!). i can tell since i've been quite the baker myself ;) the discriminate palate can taste the difference. long live madagascar vanilla, bittersweet belgian chocolate and REEEEEAL BUTTER!!
favorite flavors: mocha, vanilla, dark chocolate, lemon, coconut, chocolate marshmallow (mmm the ganache!). oh - and LIME, which was a special feature flavor in july. MUST try those specials when they come out! PURE HAAAAAAPPY ON MY TONGUE!!
plus, if you're traveling with the cuppies or need to store/freeze them, they will specially wrap the boxes in freezer bags for ya!
I never knew about Sprinkles, but I did see this crazy line on Lil' Santa Monica when I was waiting for my shoes next door. When I asked Arty (my shoe cobbler) "what's up with the line next door...is there a store opening...?" he shrugged and replied "cupcakes...come during the week...there's no line then!" Ahhh, genius!
So on a recent Thursday afternoon I took Arty's advice and wandered in. I was faced with racks of cupcakes that looked uniformly delicious and was out-numbered by the helpful store assistants. I took the shortcut and asked one lady what she recommends. She told me the red velvet is a best-seller (nah, I've had that at Doughboys), but the special is the strawberry Breast Cancer cupcake - that came in two varieties of ribbon. Then another assistant volunteered her fave cupcakes too. After some deliberation, I grabbed one of the strawberry and one of the coconut cupcakes. $6.50. That would be a nice treat for Samantha even though she doesn't like sweet stuff. Ok...may be that cute box of treats was for me and my cup of tea!
I wouldn't say these are the best cupcakes I've had (I liked Akasha in Culver City) and I agree the fondant is a bit too sugary for me, but the staff are so helpful and sweet that it would be hard not to like Sprinkles.
(This is my 444th review...bad luck in Chinese culture. Glad it's a super sweet store...it'll help neutralize any bad luck!)
They're good and not just because they have great PR, but there is some hype to it. There are definitely better places for cupcakes, but I would recommend hiking over and trying it if you're on Rodeo anyway. Just standard, honest cupcakes in LA.
I actually like their mix better and making them myself. You can control the amount of butter :) and various kinds of frosting. It still comes with their signature candy top. (which I personally like only for aesthetic purposes).
Sprinkles is like Kanye West....a whole lot of talk about how great he is....but in reality....he's a capital douchebag. Okay, so I'm sure Sprinkles cupcakes taste better than an actual douche bag....but I'm just saying...they're not all that. I mean, I don't get it. There is nothing there to validate waiting in that god-awful line. NOTHING. I think I actually might have some unresolved anger for Sprinkles because I'm just really confused as to why people think this place is so great. The cupcakes are FINE. I make better cupcakes at home. There's better out there people!! Don't get stuck thinking this place is the "best" cupcake place in town because it is far from it.
Please, PLEASE go to Vanilla in Santa Monica....now THAT is a cupcake shop....Sprinkles....is a cupcake NOT.
Maybe I'm just lucky... I never wait or I always have people pick my cupcakes up for me.. =P
I don't really get the other flavors, because red velvet is my absolute favorite. It's pricey, yes, but when you need that cupcake fix, you'll pay the price.
If you know a spot that has amazing red velvet cupcakes, PLEASE let me know. I'm on the prowl....
OMG! When I arrive here it's usually around lunch time (which is the best time to get there). I love their strawberry cupcake it's the best other than the traditional red velvet cupcake. The carrot cupcake is good, the black and white cupcake is yummy also. The customer service is always perky and fast. Each cupcake is like $4 bucks each but are totally worth it! These cupcake are my sweet tooth fix!
I dislike the fact that they bake some cupcakes on special days so you have to be there or else you miss out! Also the parking is metered, either way there's no such thing as free parking in Beverly Hills unless you park near the mansions and walk it all the way.
If you're ordering big like a box of 12, I recommend that you order that online so you can waltz right in and pick up your box and go about your business. Other than that do not come around closing time, that's when the line gets outrageously long.
OM NOM NOM RED VELVET CUPCAKES NOM NOM.
Small store, ritzy area, expensive prices, but the few times I've been here the cupcakes have been really good to me.
And is that dot edible or not? It tastes like a disc of plastic that I throw out, but I guess it adds to the aesthetics or whatever.
I'm definitely a fan of SPRINKLES! My favorite is the red velvet, the coconut, and the marshmallow cupcakes. It's moist and not too overly sweet. It has the perfect amount of cake to frosting ratio. Eat while its fresh! Yumm...
I'm not too big of a fan of the parking! It's mostly meter street parking and depending on the time of day you go, there could be a line. There may be a good chance you would need to walk back to your car to refill the meter while waiting in line.
Pretty average cupcakes IF you don't eat it with the wooden fork it comes with. Taking the cue from Dave Chappelle, this is "When keeping it 'green' goes wrong." If you eat the cupcake with the wooden fork all you taste is the wood. I feel like a panda, wait that's bamboo, well some animal that munches on wood, koalas? Anyway which cupcake store provides forks anyway? Eat it with your damn hands, nothing low class about that, it's a cupcake!
Pointless ranting aside, there is a large rotating selection of cupcakes. However, quantity does not make up for quality as the sponge of the cupcake is lifeless. Not moist nor flavorful. Magnolia cupcakes are superior in this aspect.
ALL THE CUPCAKES.
No, seriously, I'll take all the cupcakes. This place is delicious and makes me want to live in LA so that I could be a big fat fatty mcfat fat among a sea of bleached, tanned, surgically enhanced super sexys.
I don't think I'd wait in line for an hour though. But when I showed up at 10:30 a.m. because I wanted a cupcake for breakfast there was no line. Hurrah!
And all the girls that worked here must have been on a sugar high because they were hella cheery and hella adorable.
Is there something comperable in SF? Anyone? Bueller? Yelp, don't fail me now!
I a'int gonna butt heads with Oprah, but this is a just a decent-at-best cupcake, with the hype machine in effect...lol. I liked my experience, the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, and the place was clean and professional.
The wait outside contributes to the hype. Kinda like having a line and spotlights outside a Hollywood nightclub. The Beverly Hills location adds to the prestige. However, my friends and I ordered a few cupcakes, including the heralded Red Velvet, and hmmm it was decent and enjoyable. Then again isn't every cupcake?
I think everyone should go just to tell their friends they went. It's all in good fun. As far as best cupcake, or being special? Meh, I've had better at the Alcove and Kitchen 24 to name two.
Put this place in East Los, and take the Oprah-driven fanfare out and you will see its just a cupcake, but you are getting well over charged. That's the real magic of this place. They get people to smile as they pay $4 for an average, albeit tasty, cupcake.
When I think of all the brilliant confectioners in LA, how people honestly want to claim this ranks with the best, hmmmmm I dunno. Go to Sweet Lady Jane, then tell me you know desserts. I went here on the suggestion of a friend who worked as a manager here, and said friend even admitted that it's just an average cupcake. 'Nuff said.
I don't know why anyone would give this place any less than 5 stars because each bite of their cupcakes makes me forget just about everything else in life.
I went on a late Sunday afternoon and found parking easily in the nearby metered lots, and went to pay for it, and found out it's free parking on Sundays (yay)! You know what that means...I'll be back, on a Sunday. =)
I turned the corner, walking towards the bakery and noticed a pretty large crowd of folks standing around. As soon as I got closer, I realized it was a line for Sprinkles. What... strange. I've been coming here for quite some time now, and surprisingly, this is the first time I've ran into a line that long. I think it was a good 1/2 hour of waiting, if not more.
The folks standing in line with me are either really young folks in their late teens and '20s who's metabolisms haven't slowed down yet (hence, they're still skinny while eating these rich, heart-clogging goodies) or older folks who can afford these pricey items but not so skinny. I'm kind of right smack in the middle of these two groups, so I thought to myself that I better get my paws on these cupcakes now before I get to the point of having one bite and gaining 10 lbs 'cuz of it.
As I waited in line, I found it amusing that a Hollywood Sightseeing tour bus drove by, with the guide talking about this famous spot, and all the tourists staring out at us. Having just gotten back from Italy, it felt funny to see things the other way around. Too bad they didn't get to make a stop to taste these delicious cakes 'cuz they would certainly buy a box or so to bring back (or devour before they return home).
So onto the cupcakes... I was there because they were serving a special cupcake that only goes thru 9/27 - the vanilla hazelnut cupcakes (aka. vanilla cupcake with Nutella frosting). Since I could practically eat a whole tub of Nutella without blinking, I thought it's worth the drive out here just for that. And yep, it was certainly worth the taste... moist, buttery cake with a creamy but subtle Nutella spread taste. I have to say the cupcakes were a bit smaller than the rest of their other ones though, and the frosting was not as "stiff", but it doesn't matter... as soon as I took a bite, I floated away to heaven.
I also got their red velvet cupcakes because you can't come here without getting at least one. No need to really go into the details of these because everyone else here has described how good they are.
Regardless of how many cupcake shops I've tried here in LA county, my all-time favorite place is still Sprinkles because there's just something more flavorful in their batter and frosting that makes them one-of-a-kind. Go Sprinkles!
I carb-o loaded on these things for a 5K. For real.
Every cupcake is awesome. The frosting is flavorful and not too sweet all.
You'll find it easily by the long line coming out of it.
My friends and I tried the following:
Chai Latte - Very good and unexpected flavors that meld well together.
Red Velvet - Not the best I've ever had but pretty good.
Strawberry - Interesting fruit cupcake. I've never had the like before and this was pretty good.
Cinnamon Sugar - The only cupcake we got without frosting (just a sprinkle of cinnamon and sugar on top). If you tend to like the super sweet frosting paired with the cake, then you may not like this one. To me this tasted pleasantly lighter than the other cakes and I enjoyed it.
It's nice to come here for a treat once in a while, but it's a bit pricey for cupcakes.
I finally made it to the Sprinkles Cupcake store in Beverly hills a little while ago. I've had a sprinkles cupcake but never been to the actual store. During my visit I ordered the Red Velvet, Banana Dark Chocolate, Chocolate Marshmallow, and Carrot Cake cupcakes. Being the fatty that I am, I ate two of them there and the other two the following two days. All of their cupcakes are extremely moist. And surprisingly they actually hold up in the fridge for a couple days. i had the red velvet two days after I got it and it was still really good.
The store itself is really small. and when I say small i mean tiny! pretty much if it's busy you're like crammed in there with no where to move. That's ok your cupcakes are worth it.
If you know me then you know that I'm not much of a sweet tooth..
but for Sprinkles Cupcakes, I'll make an exception =-)
If you're one of the brave souls willing to bear the 30 minute wait outside for one of these tasty treats then props to you. If not, then sorry, but honestly you're missing out.
When I first went to Sprinkles, I had my share of doubts. $3.75 for ONE cupcake? That's absurd! I can practically buy a dozen chocolate chip cookies at McDonalds for the same price! However, I must stress the one concept that allows these ridiculously overpriced Beverly Hills businesses to continue running: it's about the QUALITY of what you purchase which makes the price of an item worth it. And my friends, a Sprinkles cupcake is worth $3.75.
If you're like me and want to try more than one flavor on your first time, then I suggest you get a box of 4 which is around $13.00. However, I must warn you: don't expect to finish all 4 unless you want to be on a sugar high for about a day and a half. Instead, try earning some serious brownie points with your friends by sharing with them =-)
Onto the cupcakes! These are a list of flavors you must try:
1. Red Velvet - this is Sprinkles' signature cupcake. For those of you who were like me and never heard of Red Velvet before, it is chocolate that has been dyed with red food coloring with a cream cheese frosting on top. I absolutely love cheese in my dessert and this cupcake just floored me on my first bite. It's not about the richness of the chocolate cake nor the artful presentation that makes this cupcake truly a decadent dessert; no, it is that frosting. The Red Velvet frosting set the bar for my standards on cupcake frosting, and I have yet to see one that even compares to Sprinkles'. The frosting is rich, creamy, sweet, thick etc...I can go on and on. But I won't because a pool of saliva is beginning to collect on my lap.
2. Black and White
3. Vanilla
4. Peanut Butter Chocolate
5. Dark Chocolate
6. Though I've never tried it, I heard the Mocha one is amazing as well.
Sprinkles Cupcakes also make a great gift for special occasions, such as Valentines Day, birthdays, anniversaries, a 43rd Yelp review..hehe..
$3.75/cupcake worth every penny.
Small store and wasn't too hard to find. Had the red velvet, pumpkin, and marshmellow. LOVED the red velvet and pumpkin but could live without the marshmellow. Wait wasn't too long (less then 5 mins), but like I said, its a tiny place so its very cramped inside.
Dark chocolate cupcake.
aaaa maaaa aaazing (shiver)
fluffy cloud of chocolaty cake heaven. Red velvet just average.
I love Sprinkles cupcakes, especially the red velvet. Yeah, they're a little pricey for cupcakes, but they taste good, so so what? If I'm looking for a cheap snack, I'll stop at Yogurtland or Diddy Riese, but if I'm looking to spoil myself, Sprinkles is the way to go. Also, it's very cute and trendy, if that's your thing... They've also got a van that has been visiting the USC campus recently, which makes them even more awesome.
I have been here one time in my life and CAN NOT WAIT to go back next month. This will be a definite stop each time I visit LA.
The line is usually out the door so I suggest going early in the morning. I had to wait 30 minutes and it was worth every single minute. The flavors are so strong and delightful! The icing is intense and memorable. I can still remember the smile on my face after I ate two in a row. They are amazing cupcakes and worth ALL OF THE HYPE!
Anytime someone says they are heading to LA and ask for suggestions, this is the first thing that comes out of my mouth..SPRINKLES! Each person that listens to me thanks me and agrees they are delightful!
I can not wait to return in October! I'm going to try to bring some back!
For such an overrated cupcake joint with seriously annoyingly long lines I was surprised to find their staff friendly and downright exuberant. Huzzah! I see someone is enjoying their sugar buzz....
Tried a small smattering of cuppies and the results looked like 'dis:
* Banana w. Vanilla Frosting // Thought it would be my favorite, I'm a huge nut for bananas in pastry, sadly though my sweet treat turned up a bit dry. Great naner flavor though despite the desperate necessity for more cake moisture.
* Chocolate Marshmallow w. Bittersweet Chocolate Ganache // Every flipping bit as good as it sounds. Rich, sinful, joyous, more moist than LiLo at a SaMAN iMac gig. Best Frosting EVAH, I'm getting giddy just thinking about it.
* Coconut / Vanilla Cake w. Coconut Cream Cheese Frosting // Yummy. Lovely. Light. Not too sweet. I could see myself having one and then right after begging for another. Wait, that already WAS me. Loved the fluffiness of the cake beneath the heft of smooth, tangy and downright divine coconut mushed into cream cheese. I still have a cacophony of angelic cupcake chorale itching my brain from this one.
Pleasantly surprised by something I expecting to fall on the 'meh' meter. So while the Sprinkles cuppies they FedEx to my local Chicago Whole Foods blow like a trumpet, these truly redeemed wholeheartedly. Three Shouts for Sprinkles!
