The entirety of Block Island is simply beautiful, and Spring House is no exception. It's a huge mansion at the top of a hill overlooking the water, a perfectly idyllic setting that is just a quick walk into the downtown area. It was great to not have to cab to most places--there were great beaches, shops, restaurants and bars no more than ten minutes from our front door.
My friends and I shared a suite which had a small foyer, a sitting room and a bedroom (with one full bed and a pull-out couch). The room was cute and old-fashioned, nothing too fancy but with a beautiful view of the water. The continental breakfast was pretty standard, the coffee and muffins were especially good and we loved being able to sit out on the back terrace in the sunshine. Staff was friendly and helpful, storing our things when we arrived before check-in, coming up to bring us fresh towels and a corkscrew literally seconds after we called for them. We did find two small beetles in the room, which wasn't thrilling but it's an old hotel and it's by the ocean so I'm not sure how avoidable these things are. All in all a nice place to stay, and a pretty good deal considering the convenience of its location and how truly lovely the surroundings are.
This is a very hard one to rate. Went to a wedding here. The wedding was first-rate. Food (wild salmon) was delicious, great bar, beautiful view. Great! However, I was also a guest here. Room was very small and run-down for the exorbitant price. Service was iffy at best, which is a travesty for the price. So, maybe have your wedding here, but book a room block elsewhere (?)
