This little spot downtown was quite the surprise. After wandering around and discovering nothing is open on Sundays, Spot of Tea was our "savor".

The salads are enormous and the sandwiches were good. Watch out for the broccoli cheese soup... way too much grated cheese on top.  The seafood omelet left my dad wanting more. The portion just wasn't right.

Overall we were pleased.

I will not step foot in this place again, the service was lousy, the food was fatty, and mediocre.   The Neighborhood surrounding the restaurant was lousy too.  Order a Cheese Omelet that was sub standard, and tasted like Chez Whiz was in the center.

Breakfast is great!  Dinner is a little overpriced for the quality and taste.

Big, Southern-style portion breakfasts at a fair price, nice wait staff included. Located in downtown Mobile, this place offers a nice area to do people-watching as its in the town square -- across from the cathedral.
I was here for a family wedding and the local family told me to check it out from the hotel I was at.

Get the raspberry sweet tea. I gorged on that the entire time I was in town. So good. The breakfasts are awesome -- be warned, on the weekends, this place gets jammed.

Huge, heart attack-waiting to happen-on a plate-goodness...
Get the Eggs Cathedral, and split it with a buddy, it's a monstrous portion of food.  And you will love it.
Perfect amount of grease to cure a hangover...However, if you go on a Sunday morning, expect to see the typical Southern church-goers in all their glory.  They will give you the stink eye if you look a little disheveled...

Don't forget the Strawberry Iced Tea.  It's heavenly.

I like this place on a nice day when you don't really mind waiting because you can grab coffee and hang out by the Square.  The wait can be long though.  Portions are big and the food is really rich.  Really rich.  It is very hard to finish your food and hard to get up afterwards.

I was visiting my husband in Mobile and having a hard time finding places to eat.  The reviews for Spot of Tea were ok so I thought we'd try it.  I honestly didn't love it.  I had the crab bisque and is was WAY too rich.  My husband had the Monte Cristo which he really enjoyed.  Maybe I just ordered the wrong thing.

Before going to Spot of Tea, advertising and such made it seem much nicer than it really is. The food is toooo rich, which other Yelpers have commented on. I had an item under the breakfast menu, which was just an English muffin covered with a thick fattening sauce with seafood. Not much flavor, I just remember it was like eating an English muffin with Velveeta cheese on top. I really did want to like it though!

Holy moley!!  BIG portions!!!  Not the place to diet.  I expect seafood bisque to be rich, but this was like eating mayonnaise.  I'm still giving three stars.  I don't think I ordered the best thing.

GET THE CAJUN TOMATO BISQUE.  It is - without a doubt - the best tomato based soup I've ever tasted.  After surgery a few years ago - it was the only thing I wanted to eat.  I sent my husband to buy a gallon and existed solely on this soup for 5 days.  And yet - I never tire of it.  It has a touch of cayenne and cinnamon - which sounds weird - but delivers an incredible taste.

In my opinion this is also one of the better places in Mobile for breakfast - especially if you're looking for a little more than scattered, smothered and covered!
