As previously mentioned, excellent customer service.
Sponge and Sparkle has been cleaning our place for a while now, since they cleaned at our old place and we've been at our new place for 18 months. I've been present when they've come, and they've always been extremely friendly.
I don't always feel that the house is spotless after they're done, but admittedly, I've got ridiculous standards for cleaning, and I live in an older house with plenty of accumulated stains that only the most corrosive of cleaning materials could remove. But the house smells fresher, the layer of dust is removed, the bathrooms are shiny, and all the spots are gone from the stove top, so it's clean. And I love that I can come home to this smell without having to work for it myself.
I attribute my ridiculous standards to my mother's extremely frugal nature that makes me feel guilty about spending money on anything that I could do myself, coupled with my dislike of having my stuff moved or touched from the places that I leave it. It's hard for me to deal with any cleaners, since there's a lot of stuff moved in the process of cleaning. Thank goodness Cindy always calls the day before to remind me so that I can put everything where I'll be able to find it before they come to clean.
There's a comment card left after each visit, and when I checked "neutral" instead of "positive" or "negative", I received a call from Cindy asking what could be done better. They really do care!
At the end of the day, the house is cleaner than it was, and I get more time with J and C, so it's worth it. Just don't tell my mom!

The first day my new house-cleaners came from Sponge and Sparkle, I sat on my sofa listening to them cleaning my bathroom and thought, "Ahhhhhhhhhh!" There's something oddly relaxing about having someone else scrub your toilets! =)
But seriously, I began using this service after being impressed with their sister company which does carpet cleaning (Sparkle Care). I decided to see how it would go having them clean my small house twice a month. I have yet to be disappointed, having used their service for three cleanings so far.
The work is meticulous. A team of two works tandomly to scrub and shine nearly every inch of your house. It's a good value for what you get considering the two-person team usually spends about 90 minutes working over my place. They don't mop hardwood floors, nor clean the windows as part of their regular service. But you can pay an hourly rate for these needs, as well as other not-so-fun tasks like cleaning out the fridge or oven, etc.
If there's ever a concern about something not done just right, they will bend over backwards to ensure you're happy. And they even do a monthly newsletter! Give these folks your business and you won't be disappointed.Listed in: The Money Pit

I've been a fan of Sponge & Sparkle since I started using them this past summer. I started out doing a regular every-other-week cleaning, which was an insanely reasonable $60 a pop. When I decided that I could go longer without having my apartment professionally scrubbed, I switched to "as needed" service, and it's still only $70 (and they were totally cool about my desire to change frequencies).
The work has been very good, and I love the way my place smells fresh and not chemically when they're done. One time, the owners/admin folks even called me to apologize because the cleaning gal left a sponge in my sink! They are very interested in hearing constructive criticism, and they will make things right if you are not satisfied. I would definitely recommend this company! -

These peeps are all about providing the best customer service. From the initial phone call to the service itself to the follow-up call, everyone one I encountered was focused on making sure I was totally satisfied. We had a "detailed cleaning" for what I considered a very reasonable price. Everything about it was EASY, which I appreciate. Cindy set up the appointment and took my information over the phone, including intricate details about my house, my pets, what I wanted cleaned and how.
Two people arrived to clean the house, and, not that it impacts the job, but they seemed genuinely happy and cheerful to be cleaning. I kind of like the idea of happy people cleaning my house, rather than sullen people. I was very pleased when I got home -- we have a dog and two cats and for the first time in years, there were no dog-cat tumbleweeds rolling down the hallway.

Okay, I have had Sponge and Sparkle for 9 months, and I have to provide an update...
I came home today, and received a very nice note from Stephanie and Elizabeth, who normally clean my place. The house was BEYOND spotless. I had left some sheets on a bed that I did not have time to make up, it was made up perfectly. I love coming home every other week to a house that feels like a model home.
They do a great job, they follow up, they are personable. I have to think back that the money I am spending on cleaning is something I never question because they do such a great job every 2 weeks.1 Previous Review: Show all »

Ack, I can't believe I forgot to hit "Post" on this review from months ago!
My dinner got cold Friday night because I couldn't stop running around the condo looking at every newly fresh nook and cranny! That's how impressed I was when I got home from work and saw what a great job these folks had done on my place.
Setting up the service was so easy. I called weeks ago just to inquire about pricing and talked to supernice Cindy, the Office Manager, about what I needed - a pretty thorough cleaning since my cleaning-averse former roommate and his (shed-a-rific) dog had officially hit the bricks to their new home. When I called S&S back at the beginning of last week, Cindy pulled her notes from our previous call right up and gave me the rundown (practically verbatim) of what we'd talked about and I set up service for Friday. This condo couldn't have been easy to clean, seeing as how on my own futile attempts on hardwoods, I couldn't seem to get my former roommate's dog's hair to go away. And don't even get me started on me trying to clean the walls. After S&S was finished, the completely hair-free floors shined and the baseboards were almost blindingly white. They also made my always messy bed, artfully arranged my throw pillows, straightened up my mountains of laundry into much neater stacks, even repositioned the lamps so that they lit up the whole room. I feel like even the condo itself was able to breathe a sigh of relief because, let's face it - clutter and dirt are stressful.
I'd give them 5 stars but had to knock one off for the treatment of items in the bathroom. I'd left a few things (my glasses, some cuticle oil) on the counter in the bathroom...and came home to find everything stuffed into a small vase, so there was cuticle oil on my eyeglasses. So although I was happy with how clean the bathroom was overall, I was not happy with the treatment of my items (especially given the various drawers and cabinets where those items could have been stowed).
Cindy followed up with me on a phone call 3 days after my condo cleaning (cleaning Friday, followup Monday) to check my satisfaction with the service and was attentive/apologetic when told about the cuticle oil incident.
Overall, 4 stars. I do plan to give them another chance in the near future, but definitely make sure to put away my glasses and random primping items in the bathroom before they come to clean. -

So this is was a bit disappointing...
After reading amazing reviews on yelp, I thought I would give this company a shot and was genuinely excited with the excellent customer service I received prior to the cleaning. The company was very friendly and easy to setup a time for cleaning (though they were pretty booked and I had to settle for a cleaning a week and half later) and even made note of special cleaning requests.
The disappointing part was the cleaning, it wasn't anything to rave about. It was alright and mediocre at best, and worse still was the fact that some of my requests which I was assured over the phone were completely ignored (For Example: I had requested that the inside of the kitchen cabinets be cleaned, and when I requested this of the cleaners they said they didn't provide that service, though I had been assured over the phone prior to the cleaning that it would be taken care of).
Please understand that my rating is not for the company or the cleaners - they were all extremely polite, kind individuals - but rather the actual 'cleaning' of the cleaning service, it wasn't very clean. Sorry.
September 1st 2010 - Update: The owner contacted me and we settled upon a mutually agreeable price that I thought was fair for the cleaning. The Customer Service for this company is AMAZING, and they truly value the happiness of every client. I really thank them for reaching out to me once they knew I was dissatisfied and remedying the situation. -

Sponge & Sparkle has just earned my business forever! I was so excited to find out that Stephanie and Elizabeth were going to be working on my home. (They have a ton of great reviews.) They did arrive late, but after the job they did on my home - I understand. They work until the job gets done! They did a great job. There's a dog in my house that sheds like crazy and these ladies did a wonderful job. If I had to make one criticism, they didn't get my shower curtain clean. I'm very willing to look over this as they were here for 3 hours cleaning my home from top to bottom. i will definitely hire this company for regular cleanings, and you should too!

Careless! Irritating! Not thorough!!!
Let me start out by saying what all was broken when Sponge and Sparkle came to my home; a Waterford crystal ring holder that my family brought from Ireland was broken to pieces, a piece of furniture in our family room now has three large chips in the top of it, a sideboard in our dining room is now chipped, and a guest bedroom door was chipped. Absolutely ridiculous!!!! For that many things to go wrong, it almost feels as if they tried to break or ruin things!
When I came home last week, I was so excited to see my sparkley clean home after Sponge and Sparkle had "deep/detail cleaned" my home for the first time. I had agreed to pay $66/hour for as long as it takes to get my home spotless. Supposedly they were there for 3.5 hours, but my home was definitely not spotless. I asked everything to be dusted, I guess in their minds that does not include the armoire or dresser in my bedroom, any of my blinds (even though I specifically requested that be done), etc... I asked that all window sills and baseboards be cleaned deeply, well that was not done either.
I will say that they cleaned up a lot of the dog hair around my home, as I had let it accumulate for a few weeks. They also did a nice job on our master sink area, but that doesn't 3.5 hours.
I am so thoroughly disappointed, that I don't even know what to say. I can forgive a few things being missed, and even a mistake or two. But, for all of this to have gone wrong in 3.5 hours, all I can think of is How??? Why??? Argh!!!!!
I asked them to come into my home based on these reviews, and got the worst service I have ever seen. Reyna did feel bad about all of the misses and mistakes, so she offered for them to come back. I told her that I did not trust them in my home, as so many things were broken last time, and she said she would go with them. No Thank You!!!
We settled everything as that I would owe them nothing since they did such a poor job, but the more I think about it - I should send them a bill!!! So far I can total up about $1,500 in damages. So irritating!!!!Comment from Raina R. of Sponge & Sparkle 3/10/2010

Closing on my new home was stress enough....and having it be deserted for almost 6 mths was even more stressful. For the weeks following up to my closing i was emailing back and forth with a lady from the company "the best way to reach me". She was very patient with me and understood that it could be a awhile before i needed their services.
When i finally closed she was able to schedule me on the day i wanted..even though the times got changed a couple times, someone always called in advance to let me know.
The two people who came over were very nice, it was a man and woman...i even saw the woman on her knees getting stuff out of corners!!! and she was very nice cleaning out our paint stained bathtub we caused!
Very professional indeed..although im not one to use a cleaning service often, i will remember them in the future and give referrals to friends :) -

Sponge and sparkle is the best. It was very easy to set up a cleaning, and as it was my first time, also very helpful. CIndy was able to walk my girlfriend through the entire process, and helped her pick out the right service. The day of the cleaning Jared and Darlene left a note to make sure everything was satisfactory, which was awesome. Cindy instructed her to leave clean sheets on the bed, and when I returned the bed was made perfectly, and the house smelled great! I was so impressed with the cleaning I cannot wait until the next one!!!!!!

Before I talk about the actual cleaning, I must say that the customer service was top notch. Cindy was the first person that I talked to when I called and she was great through the whole process. I also met the cleaners at my house and they were very nice, punctual and professional.
But the cleaning was not up to snuff. I hired a cleaning service because I am not a very good cleaner, so I thought it would be worth the investment to get the job done right. I have a townhome with a lot of hardwood and two cats that shed a lot and occasionally pee where they shouldn't. The hardwoods were cleaned very well, but the bathrooms were practically overlooked. I really think that they may have forgotten to mop my master bathroom, because there is no way that someone actually attempted any cleaning there. On my bottom floor I keep a litter box in the guest bathroom and I called the cleaners attention to the fact that they would need to focus attention on that bathroom. When I came hope to inspect the cleaning I could see mushed, matted kitty litter in the corners and along the baseboards without even bending over. They also forgot to dust the AC vents which is another thing I needed professional help with because I have high ceilings.
So I was pretty fired up about this crappy cleaning job. I had a busy day at work the following day so I miss Cindy's follow-up call. She left a message to tell me that it hadn't taken the two cleaners 3 hrs to clean my house, but it took FOUR hours so they would have to charge me more than the estimate! SERIOUSLY!? Fortunately when I called Cindy back she listed patiently to my story and was able to reduce the rate and offered to send the cleaners back out. I would almost use this service again just because I know that Cindy and the owner are so customer focused, but I can't risk wasting more money. :(
