I have been to several nail salons in the area, and this one always has the same great service every time I come. They seat you right away in one of their newer massage chairs when you walk in if you're getting a pedicure. Their tubs and towels are clean, especailly compared to other salons.
I like that they give you a menu with different spa treatments with the prices so you will know what you're paying for in the end. Their $20 basic pedi even includes a 7 minute massage with hot stones!
Come here if you want fast, clean, and relaxing service for an affordable price! -

IVe seen the inside of a LOT of nail salons in my day for sure, tried this place after a reccomendation from my aunt, and thought "oh ok here we go". When I walked in on a Saturday afternoon I expected to see mayhem, but it was quiet, organized, semi-busy but well equipped to service many people (I think they have 12 or so pedicure chairs, and even more manicure stations!)
Now they are pricey, I paid a whopping $55 for mani/pedi but let me tell you this was the BEST mani/pedi I have had to date for sure. They do upsell you, but the pedicure upsells I think are well worth it! Very relaxing and mey feet felt amazing after. Unlike many other nail salons they did not cut my toenails to create ingrown toenails, as I have noticed many other places do to ensure repeat visits!
I also got the shellac nail paint (which I went there for) and it is spectacular, not that expensive and the polish lasts NO CHIPPING for 3 weeks at least, I am on a full week, and this is the longest my polish has lasted. Fully impressed.
If you want some pampering this is your place! -

OK, I love coming here. No matter where I go for that quick fill or when I try a new place, I am never as satisfied as when I come to Splendor Nails & Spa!
Of course I have my favorites: Jody & of course Joanna, the owner. One thing I love is that Joanna is ALWAYS at the salon, her husband is there sometimes too helping keep things clean, making appointments, getting customers water or tea.
All of the techs are really good about making the fake nails look very natural in both shape and thickness. As long as you tell them what you want, they'll do it. If you notice something looks a little funky on a nail, tell them! They'll fix it right away. Also, if you want a creative pattern or design for your tips, Jody is awesome at helping you choose colors & making tips that you'll be proud to show off!
Appointment or not, you will be seen within 5 minutes since they have so many nail techs here, which is awesome when I forget to make an appointment or call to see if Jody is working that day.
They do upsell a little bit, but if you say no thank you, they don't continue to push 90% of the time. The other 10% they'll just ask if you want to upgrade to a different thing haha.
Anyway, no matter how long it's been since I've gone in, they always seem like they remember me. Jody does, but the others are great at faking it which makes you feel comfortable when you're there.
They provide tons of services too: eyebrow waxing & threading, manis & pedis, gel & acrylic sets, pre-designed fake nails, glitter gels, white & pinks, fake eyelashes etc etc!
Love, love love this place! :)
**NOTE** They do not let you tip onyour credit/debit card, so bring cash for the tip. If you forget, or are looking at this on a whim while finding somewhere to get your nails done, there's a liquor store a couple stores down that has an ATM machine :) -

They up sell a little but it was worth it. I went in with my girlfriend after her nails got butchered at Liz's Nail Salon (read my review on it!). Originally I wasn't gonna do anything. But while waiting for her, I thought I would get my toes done. I just wanted a basic pedicure. But the girl I sat down with (Tanya, maybe? I don't remember) sold me on getting the next one up.
When you sit down they hand you a list of pedicures available with prices and services and you pick one.
My pedicure had a hot towel wrap with some crazy cold thick lotion-like stuff put on my legs. It made my skin so soft!! And the massage was sooo good! I'm on my feet all day for work and she massaged hard, but not too hard. I saw other women getting a stone massage on their legs too.
As I was looking around I also noticed they were very accommodating to other customers (plus it helps that there's like a 1000 employees there). I saw one woman getting her nails done by one girl, while another girl did her toes, while yet another girl was waxing her eyebrows. All while she was just sitting right there in the chair. lol
Oh and make sure you bring cash for the tip! Their credit card machine won't let you tip. There's an ATM in the liquor store a few shops down though, if you forget. -

I LOVE THIS PLACE!
I've been going here since they first opened like 5-6 years ago? I mainly come here for my pedicures. I don't go to any nail technician in particular, I just go in as a welkin. I don't expect excellent service when walking into a nail salon and neither should you because that's just the way it works but this place is very decent with their service. I'm not going to lie there has been a couple visits where I had a nail technician that wasn't that great but it's never been horrible.
They take their time, even if they have people waiting. My pedicures are thorough, they do it all. You can even upgrade your pedicure for foot treatments which are great for those whom have calluses or just dry feet. I work on my feet all day 5-7 days a week. I come in every 2-3 weeks and i love that they give you HOT STONE MASSAGES with lavender foot lotion. Who wouldn't love that after a long day at work?
Being a cosmetologist, i know the regulations as far as being sanitary. This place is the most sanitary place I've been in.
Remember, you can't expect perfect customer service at nail salons, but this is as close as it gets! -

This is a great place for a manicure or pedicure. If you are into getting acrylic or gel nails done Mimi is the best! I love the way she does my nails and she is super nice!
Their pedicure stations are very clean, I'm in the medical field so I pay attention to the chemicals used when they clean the foot baths!
Make sure you bring cash for their tip because their credit card machine doesn't allow you to add a tip. -

I've gone to this place numerous times it's only because of what happened a few days ago that I decided to write this review. I had just left another nail salon not even two blocks away from splendor and I only went there because they had a yelp discount. Proved to disastrous. It came out so bad I left almost in tears and show up at splendor. They were even horrified at the job they did. They redid it for me and in half the time it took to get the first full set. She even took her time soaking off the nails in acetone and gently sanding it away. They took extra care with my hands and I really like that. I hate nail technicians that just push and pull at your nails and then you get cuts and bleed. Not here. You can expect quality and a really nice staff when you come here!!!!

I use to love this salon. The ladies were great, super good service, etc. but something has gone terribly wrong. I went today with my sister and the person who did my pedicure never even touched my feet to massage them, it was the poorest massage ever. And then my paint on my toes were all over the tops of my big toes, I had to ask her to clean up the polish around my toes twice. Not impressed. My shellac was done pretty well. I love the girl that does my shellac, but my fingers hurt a little bit as she is a bit rough getting off the gel polish and the quality is not the best. I dont' know if I will go back and I am sad to say, they are just as expensive as other salons. Additionally, I left not feelng relaxed and I did not give my pedicurist a tip due to no massage and lack customer service. I don't know what has happened but I will need to find a new salon.

I have continued to go to Splendor Nails since I wrote that review. I found a great nail lady that I liked there and was very happy with her work. Their pedicures are also the bomb!
But, I was shocked to show up today to find my lady had suddenly left. She had previously mentioned dissatisfaction with a new policy of the salon. If you are a current client and walk in without an appointment, you are not allowed to ask for your regular person. Even if they are just sitting there with no appointments and doing nothing, you cannot ask to see them for your service. WHAT? Why? As a customer, this makes no sense to me at all! In fact, it's stupid!
I almost never call and make appointments because it's easier for me to just show up and take my chances. If my lady is free and I show up, why can't I have her do me? I am NOT a walk-in. I am a current client without an appointment. What difference does that make?
I can always take my business elsewhere. I'd like to see this place give their employees a little more respect.

This store is great bc you don't smell any chemicals when you walk in. That was a big plus for me.
I love the girls here especially Anne and Jesse. Jesse does the best Gel Set in the Bay Area. She takes her time and is very creative. Anyone want to get their nails done Japanese style, ask for Jesse. I also love to get their pedicure #3 or 4 which includes a 10 minute massage and a parafilm wrap with Anne. She always does a good job. I appreciate her coming in to do my nails even on her days off. =)
The only thing I have to complain about is the appointment system. I think the owner makes the appointments most of the time but EVERY time she does it, she makes a mistake. She doesn't listen! Last time I yelled at her on the phone bc she kept talking. I now go into the shop to make an appointment rather then to make it over the phone bc so far, everytime the owner makes the appointment for me, it's wrong. But if you girls live nearby, defin. check this place out. -

At the suggestion of my hair stylist, I took my daughter here on her 13th birthday for a pedicure. I was really impressed!
The store is well lit (with one solid wall of windows) and clean. The staff are friendly. Without an appointment on a Saturday afternoon, we got no grief for showing up and asking to sit together. The shop has "menus" that tell you what sorts of pedicures you can get, what's included, and how much it costs. My daughter got a basic one that included a hot stone massage on her legs, I got one with the callus treatment (which also has the hot stone massage).
My daughter wanted an "american" pedicure (like French, but with colour instead of white nail tips), and I let her splurge on nail art too - which I then ended up doing too since my girlie-girl wanted Mom's nails to match (hey, it was her birthday and I wanted to spoil her!)
It was expensive, but the callus treatment was excellent (my feet feel so nice!), we were in the chairs well over an hour what with my salt scrub, the massages, the pedicure activities, and then the nailpolish bits - and we were not rushed out before our toes had time to dry which is always a plus 'coz I'm just naturally prone to screw up nailpolish 'fore it's totally dry. -

I only like this place for Pedi. DO NOT get your gel/acrylic nails done here. They have always done a good job on my toes and it lasts a long time so I decided to give them a shot to fill my gel nails. Oh my goodness, they were awful! they looked thick and uneven, I hated it!
The vibe is different there, I don't really care for the attitude of the owner. she's rude. -

I had taken my nails off due to fugus from a previous horrible fill at another cookie cutter nail salon. I read the other reviews and took the good with the bad and decided to take a chance. The tech started my pedicure - the water was cold, the spa was never turned on and she started on my new set. The manager/owner came over, didn't say one word to me and snatched my hand away from the tech. She started putting my new set on herself and she was the roughest tech I've ever had touch my hands. My nails were filed to the thickness of a human hair. She did an OK job putting the tips and acrylic on. However they were filed crooked, bound to happen when my hand is held at the same angle her head was tilted.
The pedicure was mediocre at best and my nails .. I've never been in constant pain like this. After about two weeks they were in such pain I couldn't even type. I soaked them off myself, got some good nail food and started eating Jello like a crazy person. When I soaked my nails off there were spots that she had filed so thin, I had no nail left!
Now almost 2 1/2 months later my nails are fully grown out with no ill after effects of my experience here.
I would suggest reading the bad reviews first and see what they all say before actually choosing to go to his nail salon. -

This is the best nail salon in town. I have to admit it is a lot pricier than most salons, but it is well worth it. It is not as high-end as what you may find in Los Gatos, Saratoga or up the peninsula, but it is a nice middle-ground salon.
There is actually a reception desk with a friendly person there to greet you. You get walked to your station or chair and introduced to your tech. In most other salons you get a rude person who barely looks up from filing a customer's nails to yell "you sit there" as they point vaguely down a row of several open seats. Not at this place!!!
I haven't had my nails done there, so I don't know how they are in that arena, but I have been receiving the best pedicures. And it isn't just your run-of-the-mill pedicure. There are several packages to pick from. I get the #5, which includes the basic pedi, sea salt scrub, calus treatment (they put some type of gel on the bottom of your feet and cover them with foil for the entire time they are doing your toes), parafin wax and a 17 minute (they actually set a timer) hot stone massage. Half way through the massage they add some menthol spray which does wonders on tired legs & feet. Now don't be alarmed. It costs $45. But the basic pedi is either $20 or $25 and it is wonderful.
I have had a different person each time. I haven't picked a favorite yet because they are all good.
Between each customer they clean out the chair basins with bleach and something else. They spend so much time cleaning the chairs. They even clean their own stools in the cleanup process. It is impressive. I would be scared to walk into any other salon after seeing how well they care for the cleanliness of the facility. It makes me wonder how my old salons didn't get shut down by the health dept.
Oh, and how could I forget. They use clean, sterile instruments on each person.... like all salons are 'supposed to' be doing. You know how I know they are sterile? They are in a package, just like the tools at the dentist office. They tear open a new package of tools for each customer. I was in shock when I saw that!!!
The staff is very friendly. They all seem happy. They are clean and well dressed. Some speak English better than others, but I haven't had any problems understanding them. They all seem to get along well, which I have found a rarity with the salons I have visited over the years. In most other salons the employees are all yelling at each other in Vietnamese and badmouthing the customers in Vietnamese. There's none of that rude behaviour here. Again, I nice change.
The atmosphere is very pleasant. It is quiet and serene, usually with some Kenny G music playing softly in the background (instead of Asian soap operas playing on the TV). There are no strange smells from people eating strange food at their station. In fact, I never once saw anybody eating at all. I think they actually have a breakroom out of sight from the customer area. The nail techs spend their time wiping down their entire stations when they have time between customers.
Oh, and the restroom was spotless and tastefully decorated.
So, since the price is a little high, the wonderful atmosphere more than makes up for it. It attracts a nicer clientele than the cheaper salons, too.
They also do facials. I have had 3 facials there so far and they are consistently good. They know what they are doing!
This is the best place I have found. I hope you give them a chance. -

I LOVE Splendor Nails!!!!! They allow you to pick your pedicure, and can get your nails done while getting a pedicure. They are a little bit more pricey than other Salons but the quality is completely worth it.
The owner and most of the girls know who I am, and are very friendly. They are the cleanest place and always do a great job.
I have been to almost every other Salon in San Jose, and will NEVER go back to any Salon, accept Splendor Nails!!! -

I have gone to this salon twice. The first time i had a fill and pedi. The pedicure was worth every damn cent. Jenny was my pedicurist and she was awseome. I have heels that crack and i left there with them baby soft smooth. Plus Jenny did a great design on my toes. My toenail polish is 4 weeks old and looks perfect.
My fill done by Jasmine on the other hand was just ok. Not great.
I went a second time to get a fill with Jasmine and was disappointed. My nails were not evenly filed. Meaning some were really think, others thin and bumpy. Additionally the shape of the nails were odd and uneven. Lastly the nail polish only lasted a week.
I guess I am use to perfection. I expect my nails to look natural and the polish to last for more then 1 week!
i would go back for a pedi with Jenny for sure, but not for a fill with Jasmine. -

FANTASTIC Nail Salon and Spa
5 Stars!
I have been going to Splendor Nails for 5 1/2 years! I had been at a nail salon in Los Gatos but decided to leave when I moved to the Old Almaden Winery. From the BEGINNING Kelley did my pedicures. She LISTENS, does what I ask, and I went every other week. This was luxury for me since I spent my working time teaching school. My pedicures were done with perfection, and the way I wanted them to be. The hot rocks are wonderful, massage great, and very very relaxing! My latest nail technician is Mindy who is sweet and does my French Gel Nails. She does a beautiful job, takes her time, and aims for perfection. Both Kelley and Mindy are wonderful and talented technicians, and both have personalities that are "aiming to please"! The salon is CLEAN, beautiful, and pleasing to the eye. I always had appointments on Fridays after school, and Splendor Nails has always been accommodating to me. My husband and I retired to El Dorado Hills, and I still commute back to Splendor Nails and especially for Kelley and Mindy. I am only able to come every three weeks now, and my nails and toes have held up beautifully. I continually look at the women in El Dorado Hills, and my nails and toes are a "step above" . It would be great if Johanna opened up a Splendor Nails and Spa in our town of El Dorado Hills! -

For some reason I have been to this place quite a few times even though I have definitely been to better nail salons. The salon is spacious and clean looking. I have gone for mani/pedi's. They lead you to a spa chair that has a massager, and they get right to work with your feet and hands. I am not a fan of places that do your hands at the same time they do your feet because it's not as comfortable, and they do that here. Once they have clipped your nails and done the basics, they pressure you to get super expensive variations of mani's or pedis and they make you feel bad for wanting the basic. I personally have gotten the more expensive variations and I suppose it's nice having foil wrapped around my feet, but they can rack up the price of your mani/pedi to $50 at least. Every time I have gotten a manicure here the nail color has chipped quickly. Also, I just got a manicure last week and 4 of my nails have chipped already - not nail color, the nails!
They are also one of the few nail salons I've been to that only take cash for tips, so I have definitely been in that situation where I had to go to the liquor store in the plaza to use the ATM.
One thing I will give them though is that the hot stone massage pedicure is pretty nice...But if you want a quality mani/pedi for a good price I would not venture here. I will be sure to follow my own advice from now on. -
Review from Jan P.
I've been going here regularly since I moved to south San Jose and have always had decent mani/pedis here. I've not experienced what others with negative reviews have been through, so I'll continue to patronize this location. Perhaps as a regular I get preferential treatment, but I totally don't mind. Case in point, I messed up a paint job I got at a -different- salon when I got home, so I came to Splendor to get it fixed, and they didn't charge me a dime. They even went to great lengths to find a similar color (unfortunately none exact).
Anyhow, the staff is aware that I just go for the basic mani and pedi with toenail art. I've never been asked twice to upgrade services. The nail art quality greatly depends on the nail tech, so make sure you ask one of the pretty gals for service. However, all the girls that I've had do an excellent job with the mani and pedi; some are extra conscientious about their work more so than at other salons. I get a great cleaning and massage of the limbs. They are constantly busy with doing fills, and from what I've seen, do a great job. Following your service, the girls immediately clean the pedi spas and I have seen them do this with great detail.
Note! The girls also do NOT talk about customers in Vietnamese. I understand the language, and though they may speak it to each other, it is never about the patrons. The salon itself does not smell at all of acetone.
It doesn't hurt either that I only come on a Mon/Tues/or Wed late morning...everyone is chill and relaxed and takes their time with their services. Plus the water bottles are ice cold.
Room for improvement? More and updated magazines, a television, and some more new polish please! Still, easily my favorite nail salon.1 Previous Review: Show all »

5 stars for the way the nail spa looks
-1 star for being pressured into getting extras; after I said no more than twice.
-1 for having to go back because my french manicure started chipping after 2 hours! I didn't even do anything. I wasn't washing dishes or anything like that to make them chip...!
+1 for the awesome massage
-1 again for the owner being totally rude and blaming the chipping on me!
+1 again for the nail tech for telling her boss that she'll take care of it and for her to go away. hahahaha...
-1 because i asked for something that would protect my nails from being chipped in the first place, because i was getting married that saturday ( i went in on a thursday) and i wanted something that would protect my nails from chipping and they went ahead and gave me a basic french manicure anyway...
Anyway I dropped $55 bucks on a basic french manicure and a basic spa pedicure with a massage and sea salt scrub....and the manicure ended up chipping again before my wedding so i had to go somewhere else the day before my wedding to get them re-done (and guess what they didnt chip for about a week at the other place i went to)
So yeah I think I'll go back but to get a full set this time, because the selection of tips they had were really cool, and that two tone giltter gel have in the front looks cool, and i think i'll get the #5 pedicure....so i'll probably be dropping about 100 bucks...but hey it's my birthday. -

As a treat I took my daughter and son's girlfriend (a native Vietnamese speaker) for a pedicure. I guess they assumed nobody understood them and, according to my son's girlfriend, talked about clients, their tipping, and ugly feet. Made the girls feel very bad about getting pedicures and, needless to say, they were unprofessional.

I've been here twice now, and while it's my current top choice for mani/pedi services, I may start searching again. Both visits, I've gotten in with very last minute/same day appointments, which is great for my schedule. The place is clean, well cared for, very comfortable chairs/surroundings. First visit was in June and around 4pm, Second visit it was in July later in the day and the shop seemed a little warm (lots of windows/light coming in/no air conditioning that day).
The prices are a little higher than other shops, but, the quality of product and service is also higher, so you get what you pay for sometimes...
One gets the feeling that the staff is pretty much talking bad about you the whole time you are there, which is also similar to other shops I've gone to, and annoying to a point. If I understood the language, I'd probably be more offended, but I just tune into my ipod and don't pay much attention.
Both visits I've ordered highest end pedi's and mani's.
First visit, pedi was superb! Best one ever. Polish perfect and lasted without a flaw for over a month. Mani during that trip wasn't so great, but I'd been having nail problems, and they seem to have put my hands /nails back on the right track. Misty was the one who did my pedicure. She was great. Adorable little flowers too.
Second visit, Kelly did the pedicure. Also a great pedicure service. Too soon to tell how long it will hold up. My little flowers are already showing signs of chipping (bummer, the flowers are half the fun). My nails took forever to dry, I managed to ruin 3 of them before I ever left the shop, and within 2 hours I'm already getting bubbles. The manicure itself is good, I think I might have gotten a bad batch of polish.
I had a late appointment though, close to end of the day, and wonder if perhaps focus was more on getting out of work to go home/out than on my manicure...hard to say.
I intend to go back here one more time in a few weeks and either ask for Misty or take my chances with random assignment before I make any decisions to switch. I think where the important aspects are concerned (clean stations, quality materials, and comfort of shop, this is the right place to be. -

OK, the salon is beautiful, and I liked my tech. But does anyone know the difference between their "french steam gel" nails that have white acrylic powder tips and pink gel base and cost $50 and their acrylic "white tip with gel top coat" for $28? I was told something about the french steam gels go under the uv light one extra time. Is this worth $22? And aren't gel nails supposed to use all gel?
Added to review later: I have actually upgraded my previous review rating because I mistakenly did not give it enough stars when I asked my question above. My experience was great. My tech, Hellen, was quick, gentle and meticulous. My nails look beautiful. I am just new to gels and trying to figure it all out. Regardless of my cluelessness, the salon was clean and new, the staff was nice, and the ladies getting pedis seemed to be in heaven.Comment from Loan T. of Splendor Nails & Spa 7/24/2009

I found this place via yelp help, and I ended up with a nice pedi and soft feet. The girl really took her time ( I got a $30 pedi), and she was gentle, yet dead skin on my feet cannot be found!
The reason I didn't give this 5 stars is because of something that happened while getting a pedi. The girlfriend I was with dropped her phone into the water bath (whoops!). All her fault, so no probs. But I noticed the girls doing nails were all talking amongst themselves in vietnamese, which didn't bother me. My friend is vietnamese as well and told me that one girl was talking crap about her and other ladies getting nails done in the shop. I guess they didn't realize that my friend could understand them. Anywho I think that is very unprofessional, rude, and childish.
I will still likely go back though, since Its so hard to find a place that will put some real hard work into peoples feet, and the girl I had was quiet and sweet ( I can't recall her name). Also they have a nice collection of OPI colors, which is a must for me. -

I was referred to this place by a good friend and I'm so glad she did! Jasmine does my nails and they have never looked better. It was the first time someone actually cared about the health of my nails and instead of ripping the tips off she soaked them and carefully sanded them.
My nails typically last 4-5 weeks so I can afford to spoil myself some and get a pedi as well! =)
I would highly recommend Jasmine for nails... No clear referral on someone for a pedi but enjoy the time for yourself! -

My review is about Anne. I was a pedicure "virgin" at 42 and nervous. I don't like people touching my feet, but my mom gave this gift certificate to me for my birthday. She told me to get the deluxe pedi and I'm glad I did! Anne is a sweetheart and made sure I was "okay" with everything she did. Very conscientious and concerned for my comfort every step of the way. If I decide to get another pedicure on my own dime I will go back and ask for Anne. Oh, and my toes are DARLING, something I didn't think I'd ever say about my feet. Anne is quite the artist.

I have been going to Splendor nails since they first opened and it's so nice and refreshing to find a nail salon that actually feels like a spa. It's spacious, clean, has nice ambience and decor and they pay attention to customer service. They have different kinds of pedicures and manicures, depending on how many extras you want. Even when they're busy, they take their time with you and I've never felt rushed. I see Jasmine for my gel nails, she's always done a great job and they have just about every color of glitter gel tips you can think of. Love those! Most all the other gals there are good with the pedi's, but if you want some fancy freehand designs or flowers, Jenny is the expert to go to. They are very conscientious of cleanliness and open a fresh pack of tools for each person. They are however just a little bit more pricey, but then again, you do get what you pay for.

My first experience at Splendor was great. I had a pedicure and my nails done at the same time. The facility is clean and professional. My toes looked good and the calf massage was fantastic. The pedicure was $30 (the second to cheapest one). I had a pink and white full set done which looked pretty good (about $38). The manicurist did a great job making my nails look natural. I received many compliments on them.
My second experience was okay. I had the same pedicurist who did an okay job on my feet, not as good as the first time. My fill was horrible. It looked good when I walked out but about four days later, my nails were cracking across the tip and across the bed of a couple of them. Eventually a corner chipped off of one of my nails and a second one broke off. I haven't had this problem before with my nails, so I am not sure what happened. Someone told me it is because the fill is was too thin. I am going to try another place before I decide to go back or not. -

These girls are AWESOME! I've been going there every two weeks for almost 4 years now. It's without a doubt the best nail salon I've ever been to hands down. Jasmine is the best nail tech I've ever had and Helen is great for pedicures. They're friendly and much cleaner than a lot of salons I've been to. I always walk out feeling relaxed and with my nails looking great. I've referred a lot of friends and family, and they are loyal customers now too.

Normally all the other times I have gone, the service has been ok and quality too. Although I believe that they only do a good job on nails and would not recommend eye brow waxing there.
Anyway, this ONE time and last time I went, I WAS CUT on my big toe where the cuticle is! Omg, it hurt for a week and especially any time when it touched something like my comforter, tennis shoes, etc. The lady who did my toes was an older lady who was kind of trying to get by and not do a good job. She painted my nails with the lumps and thought that I wouldn't see. I told her that it looked bad and she got really offended. BUT come on, if I wanted to have my toes painted with little dots and lumps, I would have done it myself for FREE at home. I go to the spa to get it professional duh!
She started to cut my cuticles furiously saying that's why it looked bumpy. I knew that I should have stopped her BUT I was too chicken NEVER again, I tell you. I will stand up for myself at nail salons. She cut me and I said "OUCH!" really loud. Everyone looked at me and she and the boss started talking in Vietnamese like they always do when something's up. The lady had the nerve to blame it on me saying that I didn't like it before so that's why she cut me! The owner was like I'll try to make it better. I knew the right thing was just to get up and walk out. That's exactly what I did and I will never come back. I even took pictures of my cut on my toe just in case I developed an infection and needed to have proof.
Go at your own risk of being cut. -

Been going here for over a year. Always pleased with the service. Getting the paraffin wax and leg massage is the best!

This is the only place I go for my pedis. I'm always a walk in and almost never have to wait to be seated. The basins and instruments are very clean. The ladies are very courteous and sweet. Of course they do try to up-sell extras (who doesn't?) but they were only 'pushy' with me one time. Every lady seems to have a little different technique - some massage too hard, some too light - but I've never been dissatisfied.
Hmm, I think I'm going to get a pedi now... -

This nail salon was recommended by a friend and I was impressed with the use of new tools and the overall cleanliness. Also, the owner speaks great English, and that really helped in my situation. But, I had a bad experience and the skin on my legs was burned.
I had a standard pedicure off the menu that included the callus removal treatment and hot rock massage. By the evening of the same day as my pedicure, the skin on my shins was red, hot, blotchy and was stinging and painful to touch. It was burned and blistering.
When I called the next day, I eventually got a return call from the owner, Loan. She was courteous and professional. She said that the chemicals in the callus treatment are very harsh and they probably got on my skin. When Cindy, the person who gave me the pedicure, rinsed off the callus removal chemicals, she never changed the water in the tub. She just kept using the same water to rinse off my feet and legs for the entire pedicure. Then, after all that, she used hot rocks on my shins for a massage, which probably didn't help anything.
I've don't have particularly sensitive skin and I've never had a reaction like this. I get pedicures on a regular basis. Please make sure that they change the water after these chemicals are put on your feet and don't let them keep using the same water. The owner says they need to rinse their hands, too, even if they wear rubber gloves.
I was offered a free pedicure or a refund, but I still had a painful burn that lasted about 5 days. I won't go back here and I won't recommend the salon, but I suppose it could happen to anyone at any salon.Comment from Loan T. of Splendor Nails & Spa 7/14/2009

I finally found my salon of choice in San Jose! After months of searching, I actually found this salon on Yelp and decided to try it out. I love how it's so huge and the service is SPEEDY - while getting a mani/pedi, I counted about 15 girls who work there! They were able to do my mani/pedi, complete with flower designs on the toes, in less than an hour -- talk about fast turnaround! They have a decent nail polish selection to choose from, ranging from light to very dark colors - a necessity for me. It's interesting to see the reviews below saying that it's somewhat overpriced -- I think it's pretty decent to be paying $12 for a basic mani. The girl painting my toenails did an excellent paint job, and I love how they have different flower designs you can choose from for an extra $5. I definitely recommend this salon in San Jose -- it's not glamorous, but at least you come out of there feeling happy with the paint job on your nails.

I really was disappointed when I came here. I also have to tell you that I wanted to go somewhere that was a little cheaper than the other nail salon I have been to, so we went to Splendor. We were seated quicky, so that was a plus. However, they kept on pressuring me to have more than just a manicure. She told me twice that I should get a pedicure. I went because I was going to be in a wedding that weekend, and she told me I would look "prettier" with a pedicure, and that i should get an upper lip wax. That totally came out of the blue! She asked me again if I was sure that I didn't want an upper lip wax. I kep on saying no, and she was getting frustrated. The nails came off about a week later, which was upsetting, and all we recieved here was rude, and very quick service. The service was quick, but almost too quick, as if they were hurrying to get us out of there. Overall, just a really bad experience. I will continue to go to LIZ nails in the future.

What an AWESOME place! I moved here about a year and a half ago. I have tried about six different spots to get my bi-weekly mani/pedi's and have found nothing that I can compare my old spot to. Well now I need to not look further. I have found my new spot!!!
I walked right in and they took care of me from the start. I am not sure if it helped that I am 9 months pregnant but who cares. They asked me to choose a color. OPI seems to be their top brand. The colors were great but I wanted a neutral color on my nails and they really did not have what I was looking for. NO BIGGE. I can bring my own next time.
I got a seat, everything was clean the girls all looked nice and they got to work on my pedi first then my mani. They have about seven different packages you can get for both mani's and pedi's You can also make up your own if you would like. I just wanted the callus treatment and an extra massage. I don't like the scrub as nothing like that feels great on me right now. They had no problem with it and just kept moving right along. They asked if I wanted a design on my toes and I said no but half way through all the other woman around me got adorable designs so I had one put on. Soooo cute!!!
I went to pay and discovered that they take credit cards or cash only. And for the tips they only take cash, you cannot tip on the credit card. BUMMER. I was running short on time so I could not run to the bank. I made an appointment for next week so I will just pay the girls then.
Anyway, YEAH for Splendor!!! -

I love Amanda & Jasmine, but the owners are the rudest business owners I have ever seen. The girls are definitely not happy when the owners are there. I have been going there now for a few months. The salon is very close to my house and it is very clean, but the owners need to learn about customer service.

I really enjoyed going here once before because my friend referred me. I went to Heidi the first time which was awesome! But than the second time I went to some new chick there named Nikki and she was horrible. She bugged me the whole time trying to get me to spend more money. She kept trying to convince me to upgrade my services and would not leave me a lone, I finally had to cut her short. The boss of the shop does not seem to friendly.
