With the Astroworld/Waterworld combo park bulldozed into a parking lot, only one theme park option is left for Houstonians, really.

Sigh.

Poor Astroworld.  I grew up going there, using both the rides and water park - but it is no more.

Splashtown is a fine water park but is kind of a disappointment after season passes to Astroworld got you all of these water features plus the Greased Lightnin'.

I'll admit, though, I am far too chicken to do a lot of the water rides.  While I'll go upside down in a roller coaster, you can't put me in a dark tube and push me down through the rushing waters.  And, the Tornado, forget it - I cower before it and then make a bee-line for the lazy river.

It's not that Splashtown itself is bad.  It is just adequate though.  The rides and premises are in dire need of an upgrade and the park isn't big enough to really sustain interest for the entire day.  If there were only something new to do every once in a while...

Luckily, admission is much less than the park down in Galveston and this one is closer.  So, if I'm feeling a need to tube on the lazy river, Splashtown it will be.

But I still miss my theme park.

If you are interested in family fun this is not the place. I bought season passes for my family and am disgusted with this place, we went one time and will not be going back. I am a water park fan and typically give teenagers a lot of latitude due to being teenagers. The behavior of the kids at this place is simply unacceptable and it ranged from utter lack of respect for any adult, foul mouths and in all honesty my wife does not feel safe going without me which defeats the whole purpose of the season pass while the kids are out of school.

Granted a few bad apples spoil the barrel but it was tough to find any decent apple. We went one time and have tried to get our money back to no avail, they keep giving us the run around. If you are up for an adventure, having to guard your towels so they do not get thrown on the ground and paying a lot of money to not enjoy yourself then this place is for you!
