I've been to this place a few times and I must say it is a good choice for some solid-tasting Thai food.  Food has been good, service is good, and overall a good choice.  One thing that I do like is when we went once I believe it was the chef/owner taking our order and she specifically asked how spicy we  wanted our food.  When we recieved our order it was definitely to our liking.  Some places cook it the way your ordered and its too spicy or not spicy enough, but place was definitely on the mark.

The decor inside is really nice.  Very chic and modern but it still retains that cozy feeling  A great place for a date, dinner with your girlfriends and such.  It's also BYOB so that's another plus from me.

Could this be my new favorite place for Thai food? I had a dinner date with a girlfriend and we both were in the mood for Thai. I wanted to change it up, so my friend who lives in Somerville suggest Splash for a nicer dining experience.

The restaurant is pretty big, and we went for a later dinner on Saturday- around 9 o'clock, so we were able to be seated quickly. We were both starving so we put in an order immediately for chicken satay as well as a thai iced tea for her. The chicken satay came out really quickly and was juicy and the perfect portion. Their peanut sauce has nice chunks of peanut it in too- yum!

For our main entrees, I got the chicken massaman curry and my friend got the pan fried jumbo shrimp. I also opted for a side of brown rice. I usually judge a Thai place on how much I like their massuman curry, and theirs is excellent- perfect amount of spice, lots of chicken and peanuts, and well cooked potatoes (hate an undercooked potato!) and it was very creamy and rich without being too much. My friend's shrimps were huge and she liked the dish a lot, especially the mushrooms they added. The portion was good for us since we were hungry- I finished most of my entree. They also offered many dishes at one price for meat or chicken, then a more expensive price for shrimp.

Even though we were satisfied, we are suckers for dessert, so we got the chocolate souffle, which our server eagerly suggested. It takes a little while to come out since they are making it, but it's worth the wait! our souffle was fluffy and creamy and served with homemade whipped cream- omg, the whipped cream was sooooo good! There was also a dollop of ice cream, so with the hot souffle and the ice cream- heaven. Absolute dessert heaven, and I usually don't like fluffy/mousse/souffle dishes, but this souffle has changed my mind. will return to have more of you again.

We were able to find parking right outside the restaurant. Service was super friendly. A little bit more on the pricier side, will visit again, I'm sure of it!

    Great Restaurant!

From the moment you walk in you see a very nice looking restaurant. As you are sitting down and eating, you see how intricate the details in the decorations actually are - I loved the art on the wall. Black walls with white paint and small gems. And artwork hanging throughout. We sat at a booth and it was very comfortable. And in the middle there's a zebra print booth and fountain.

The service was great. Mind you, I went on a Monday so a lot of the Somerville restaurants in the nearby area were closed, so it wasn't very crowded. We were 2 of maybe 6 people at most, but still the staff was very attentive. Our food came out pretty quickly.

I had the pad thai and my date had the pad see ew. We both enjoyed our food. I thought it was delicious. We got the sticky rice for dessert. It tasted good as well (Not a big fan of sticky rice, but I tried it and it tastes fine). I thought the presentation was very nice - flower in my meal.

It's BYOB if you want to bring something and there's parking on the street.

    I would definitely recommend it.

Modernly decorated Thai joint, with modernly presented food.  Flavors are authentic, but lack any real flair or inventive twist.  I would say that this place is on par with the rest of Somerville's Main St. restaurants.

No complaints as far as the food, but the service is typical, with no real attention to detail.  We stayed away from the Pad Thai (it's too simple to get wrong) and tried the salmon, shrimp, and grilled beef entrees.  Salmon was served over a mix of minced overcooked scallops and shrimp.  The grilled beef was labeled as spicy, but had nearly no kick to it.  I was disappointed at best and will likely continue to search for better Thai.

Bonus points for attempting to serve a chocolate soufflé.  They aren't easy to make and must be served immediately.  It, however, wasn't bad and they were able to tone down the sweetness of the chocolate.

3 and 1/2 stars for the ok food, but it can't shake the reputation of typical Thai restaurants.

I went at  a strange time right around Christmas for lunch. There was no one else in the place at  first. It is strange that Somerville -Raritan has become a Thai food Mecca but it is a good thing.Right now along with Sukothai this is probably my favorite. The  lunch struck  me as a pretty good deal and I found the place relaxed and attractive.

this restaurant didn't live up to its expectation -- at least for me. Improperly done iced tea didn't provide us a good start. Thai Spring Rolls were actually quite delicious. Despite of being practically empty, the entree took long to arrive. Portions were generous, presentation was nice, but the food was alright (have had better). The prices were reasonable, and being BYOB helped -- although not for us as we were not residents :(

    Unlikely to visit again.

4.5 stars: took off 0.5 starts for the portion size to price ratio.

Another great BYOB Thai restaurant in Somerville; the trendiest of the three (the other two are Origin Thai and Chao Phaya).  The dishes were delish, although, some were smaller than I expect (crabmeat pancake was small).  I concur with the other reviewer about the chocolate souffle, it was absolutely decadent and airy.

    Would absolutely revisit.

Excellent!! This is by far the #1 Thai restaurants in the area. The food is excellent, service is excellent. On top of that the prices are very reasonable.   Love the pad see ew.
As for dessert , the soufflé is very good but the mango sticky rice is on the money. One of our new favorites.
    (Also BYOB)

    Other local Thai restaurants
Orgins =good but more of a Thai fast food taste.
Choa Phaya = bad take out ,a mish mosh depending on who is serving you and the mood they are in esp at the Somerset location.

The sampler was nice as an appetizer. The wild boar tasted a lot like beef. No game taste to it.

Recently ordered their chocolate souffle.  It was a true souffle, not an over-sweet pre-made molten chocolate cake.  Very decent.  I recommend it.

Went here on a few occasions and both times I had the shrimp pad thai for dinner and the vegetable spring rolls for appetizer. Both were delicious. The spring roles are fresh, crispy and usually served very hot. Probably the best spring roles you'll ever have. The pad tai comes with a tad of spice but has a sweet taste to it. I've had pad thai at many places, but this is by far the best I have ever eaten. Atmosphere is very nice and service is excellent as well. The other thing that can be slightl annoying is the happy birthday music that blasts un necessarily through the speakers for someones birthday. But since this only happens rarely, it can be over looked. Highly receommend this place.

The only Thai Restaurants worth eating at are owned by Thai people with Thai chefs. With that said Splash of Thai is about the same as Origins.  If you like Thai food, this place is worth a try.  Not great, but worth a try

The classics and the specials at Splash are reliably very much above average Thai.  And the Grilled Lemongrass Chicken is an outstanding option for those in your party (i.e. kids, newbies) who may be Thai challenged.  Combine the quality and presentation of the food with the friendly attentive service and relaxed atmosphere, you have a winning combination. Indeed, the food may be more inventive at Origins around the corner, but if you are tired of the crowds, the wait, the attitude, and the need to call ahead for reservations there, Splash is a worthy alternative when in the mood for above average Thai.

I initially went to Splash of Thai in hopes of finding a new restaurant to add to my rotation of numerous Thai places in the area.  I had no idea that I was in store for such a treat.  When you enter, you are greeted by a serene cascading waterfall, and you are welcomed by the friendly staff into a shabby chic restaurant that feels transported straight out of NYC.  The menu while very affordable, offers traditional Thai staples as well as many unique more elegant gourmet choices. The honey duck was outstanding, cooked perfectly with lovely layered flavors, and the BKK Chilean Sea Bass literally melts in your mouth.  Additionally, we ordered a serving of drunken noodles which strongly rivaled any other thai restaurant in this area.  We finished our meal with the mango sticky rice, perfect texture and mix of salt & sweet.  In addition to the fabulous food, the service is fantastic and each meal was introduced to us by the manager of the restaurant.  I strongly recommend this restaurant for anyone in the area to try.  This is not just another Thai restaurant, it is truly a gem and surpasses all of the local competition.
