Great place and lots of good family fun! They supply life vests for the kids and inner tubes/floats to lounge on in the lazy river. My husband and I jumped on the two-person lounge and floated along the river while our kids held on and went along. They have a large water slide too but my son was just a hair too short to try it - we'll try that next year.
Everything was very clean and there were lots of lifeguards in case anyone got into trouble and needed help. They have cabanas that you can rent and that proved very helpful since it was 105+ the day we went. Roasting in the sun with no opportunity for some shade outside the water would definitely have dampered our fun.
Food was mediocre - but when you're at a place like that, it doesn't really matter anyway. Everyone just wants to hurry up and get back to the fun! Definitely coming back. -

At $17 a person (adults), I wouldn't say it was a great deal, but ok.
$5 for a locker is pricey.
The park is clean and well maintained. Very family friendly. In fact, I felt out of place a bit old for the park.
You can't bring food and drinks into the buccanneer bay area, but you can eat do so in the other areas. They have cabanas and tents which is great
for groups. -

Hadn't been here before, but we held our company's annual picnic at Splash! Great for the kids, good location with lots of parking, and a private area for our event. Everything was super-clean, and the workers were very friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend for companies or businesses to hold a very easy-to-manage, family-friendly event.
La Mirada's private events are catered through Summit Event productions. Also great to work with and very professional. -

Perfect for toddlers! I love taking my son here and when it gets busy and there are no seats to lay out in I just go find shade under a tree near the back of the park. I actually prefer lying out in this area because you can relax and enjoy the breeze away from people. The food is expensive( 8 dollars for a burger) so bring your own lunch, they dont allow it IN the Buccaneer Bay park BUT you can still go out and get it from a cooler in your car or something and enjoy it right outside the park, or even in front of the entrance by the aquatics pool.

The La Mirada aquatics center is really nice. There's a small 'water park' for kids on the left-hand side when you walk in and at least two olympic-size pools in the center and to the right.
My wife and I came here over the weekend to go "ice skating" (courtesy of my brother and sister in law - they found a Groupon deal: $8 for an all-day skating pass)
In short, we were extremely disappointed after seeing and being in the "rink"
Red flag #1: The rink was ridiculously small. It was probably 40' x 20' in size. I'd feel more inclined to call it a large-sized children's play pen.... leading to the second red flag...
Red flag #2: we were the *only* adults [I kid you not] with skates. The rest were little kids.
Red flag #3: The adults that were in the 'rink' were all wearing shoes and helping their kids learn how to 'ice skate'
I'm sure there are many more "red flags" I could point out, but I'll just say that we made our way around the 'rink' and then left. It was also very hot out there. I don't think I've ever attributed the sun beating down on my back to sweating while ice skating.
I bet things were much better when it first opened. But the synthetic ice wasn't even slippery. And you couldn't even push off to glide if you wanted to. Now, I'm no expert ice skater; in fact, I just plain stink at it. But I do know how it should feel to move across ice on skates. And this synthetic ice felt far from it. On top of that, it was so marked up and looked dry (aren't they supposed to lubricate it with something?) that we were pretty much "walking" with our skates around the sides of the rink.
I guess I can't complain that this was part of our Christmas gift and we didn't pay for it. Then again, I would have preferred to save my gas.
Maybe next time they can freeze one of their pools over and use that as a rink with real ice.... :P -

The pool here is really nice. I've never been to the water park, but I've swam at the Aquatics Center a few times for swim meets. It's clean, a good pool, and there's lots of deck space.

For 3 hours, I was 15 again... and loved every minute of it.
I absolutely loved the versatility of this place, with water-play areas for kids of all ages, with room for a few adults. Water slides, dip-bucket shallow playgrounds, and this swirling river around the park that was SOOOO much fun.
Forget your bathing suit or sun-protection swim shirt? No problem. There's a store in the facility..... what's that? hungry? There's a food shack there as well.... what? too hot but thirsty? they have shaved ice and Icees! I LOVED being here with the kids.
At $14 for the day (with discounts if you go after 3pm), it is TOTALLY the best bang for the buck during this scorching summer. I'm only upset that I didn't know about this place earlier, as summer is almost over.... sniff! -

The annual pass is a steal at $49 pre-season with no limit. That's the way to go. The food company contracted to feed this place sucks. There over priced

Great water park for the whole family, but mostly for children since there are only a few slides for adults/teens. We came here on a hot summer day and this was the perfect place to cool down. My niece had an awesome time going up and down the play structure and playing in the shallow water area.
They also have 2 lap pools, lazy river, jacuzzi (for 18 and over), pirate ship for children to play in, bathrooms with showers, food for sale (soda, chips, hot dogs, shaved ice), and picnic tables with umbrellas. The admission is $17 for adults and $12 for kids, which is fairly reasonable compared to most water parks. My only complaint is that my niece and sister kept getting bugs in their hair/skin, which was annoying and kind of gross.
The water park is located next to a large park and library as well, so you could easily spend a day here with the family. -

I've been to Splash twice for work, i work as a teacher for an afterschool/day care program (Options Surround Care) and we go here every summer for a field trip. Its a great place for kids and adults! theres a water playground that the kids will enjoy. Adults can watch them underneath umbrellas or just sit in the wading pool as they watch their kids. The playground is connected the lazy river which is relaxing, yet fun. You just sit on a tube or float, while the water just pushes you around a circle, like a river. duh. haha. the park also has three big water slides that kids, and especially adults can enjoy. Each one is different and fun.
This place is a mini Raging Waters and very cheap too! they also have a snack bar and bbq vendors where you can buy food. but they do allow you to bring your own food, u just cant bring it in. You'll have to eat it outside. This place is enjoyable for summer! -
Review from Daniel L.
What an incredible place for the young and the old. I cant believe other communities do not have things like this. It is like a mini water park for the locals with supervision, food, slides, and loads of fun.
Beat the heat and put on your pirate eye patch. Get wet!! -

We only make it down here for swim meets, but this is what many other community pools/aquatics facilities should aspire to. The facilities are clean and spacious, the property is well attended to by staff, and there is plenty of parking. The water park is great fun for all ages and the waterslides are a blast! If we lived closer, we'd definitely get passes!

Love this place! It can get super crowded but our 20 month son still had a ton of fun!
We went for a birthday party. Perfect place for kids to have the time of their lives! We rented cabanas for the party. But there are tons of tables with umbrellas that you can use.
The water was shallow enough for my 20 month son to walk around and have a blast. There are deeper areas for bigger kids but not super deep. The playground is age appropriate and there is even a smaller water playground on the side for kids who do not want to be directly in the water.
The lazy river was the best thing there! It keeps you going at a good pace with fun waterfalls and tons of tubes you can use. Can get crowded.
I loved that Splash had different sizes of lifeguard vests. The extra small size fit my son perfectly. It was comfortable for him and kept him really afloat.
Food: You cannot bring in your own food. Only bottled water. They sell burgers and hot dogs and nachos there. Food is ok. Not great. But it's decent for a water park.
Right now, they are offering a 2 for 1 admission! We'll definitely be back! -

I LOVE this place! I wish I knew about Bucaneer Bay and the pool sooner. I would have bought a season pass! I will have to wait till next year.
The staff is so helpful! No more big water parks I will be coming here every summer.
I have a child with autism. This place is perfect for him. He loves the lazy river and hanging out in the pool.
I recommend if you eat there to get the Teriyaki Grilled Chicken Sandwich!
We have been here three times.
The Churro I got my son today was stale -- but otherwise I love this place! -

Was perfect for my lil 1.5 yr old. Even went on lazy river a few times. Bought a season pass for $64 which includes a free chick fil a sandwich at La Mirada location, discounts on cabana rental, classes, free class, etc. Worth it if you go more than 3 times this season though.
You even get to use the regular pool when Bucuenner Bay is open!!! -

Great facility, especially fro kids during the summer time.
It's a fun day out with the family, or by yourself when visiting splash.
I used to come here just to swim laps.
my only gripe about this place is that if you are coming here just to do a 500-1000 yard set a day to stay in shape, it gets expensive.
But i suppose that you get what you pay for because the facilities are very clean. (and that's everything from the locker rooms, to the pool.) -

I went here on a Saturday morning at 7:30 AM (I know that pretty early for most people...lol), to do some lap swimming. I haven't swam in about 3 years. The last time I saw was in a PE class in undergrad, and before the competitively in HS.
So when I moved down here, I was looking for a place to get back into the groove of swimming. The daily rate is $3, but you can get a 16 day pass for $40. I quickly did the math, and you save $8. This place is relatively new, so the facilities are nice. Before this I've always swam indoors (NorCal), so it was nice to swim with the sun rising.
The pool is well designed, and the gutters work well. The water is slightly salty, and actually feels pretty fast to swim in. It did tend to get more crowded around 9, when classes were starting and such. It's a great place to hang out; there lawns to just tan if you want, and they have a huge park for kids (Buccaneer Bay).
I was impressed by the facilities, and probably would come back and swim again. I've noticed the city facilities are affordable. The La Mirada Gymnasium has a annual membership of $35, one month at 24 Hour Fitness or Bally's is $35. -

Definitely the place to go with the kids on hot summer days. I bought a season pass the first day. The passes were inexpensive and we made up the cost in a week's time.
This is by no means Raging Waters or Soak City, but it is a super fun place to go with the kids, specially if you have little ones. For starters, it's a city facility and parking is FREE. All kids must wear life jackets, which they provide.
Pros: Plenty of lounge chairs, which can be easily found on weekdays (never had a problem); plenty of lifeguards; life jackets for kids; city facility.
Cons: Can't bring any outside food in. They check your bags before entering Buccaneer Bay, but this is with any water park.
Four stars solely based on the fact that you cannot bring your own food. Usually we will go, stay for 2 hours, and eat when we get home. Enjoy! -

I can't wait for Summer so I can come back here!
"Splash!"/Buccaneer Bay is a low-key water park that, like others have said, is no where near the size of Raging Waters or Wild Rivers - but I think that's a positive thing for them.
I went here in summer of 2008 (second year it was opened) and again in summer of 2009. I know this place only opened in 2007, but I expected it to already look pretty crumby because of the enormous amount of families who come here. However, last year, it still looked amazing. The locker rooms/shower facilities are great and very well kept and spacious! Parking is ample and safe, and getting into the actual water park is pretty quick.
Once you enter the doors into the water park, you will see a big open space ahead of you, with the humongous lap pool straight ahead. To the far right, they've got another lap pool that I think is only available to swim teams (we saw synchronized swimmers practicing once - pretty cool) and other groups who are using it for practice rather than recreation. To your far left, you've got the bathrooms and lockers, a the snack stand (burgers, pretzels, chips, sodas, nachos), and then you have the entrance to the Buccaneer Bay. Inside Buccaneer Bay, you will see the giant water playground, with a huge Pirate uptop whose hat fills with water and then dumps over when it's full. The water is shallow (about 2 feet, I would say), and there are chairs all around the outside of it (we choose to sit inside the water against the wall and just chill).
To the right of the Buccaneer Bay entrance, you see another huge water spout which is like a constant running shower and feels nice on a hot day! There's plenty of tables and I think some cabanas, as well as lounge chairs. We've never had a problem finding seating here. To the right of the Pirate playground is the lazy river, which is pretty fun and relaxing (except for when it's super crowded - then it's just kinda okay). In the middle of the lazy river are the 3 water slides. The green one is closed and winds in a circle, the blue one is very fast and goes straight down, and the yellow is a half tube and winds down. I've been on all 3 and they are pretty good!
In the lazy river, you can borrow one of their huge inner tubes (single or double). It is hard when others link up with each other and make it hard for you to pass them up, but there are guards stationed everywhere around the lazy river that remind them to separate. After a while, it does get a little dizzying, so we usually head to the big lap pool.
I have mixed feelings about the lap pool. It's cool because it's humongous and they have basketball hoops on one side, which makes it fun, but there are wayyyy too many people in it at one time. One side of it is for small children and people who just want to stand there in the water and cool off, and the other side is deeper (about 7 feet, I think). We would just like to chill there, too, but it's so crowded in the shallow end that it's near impossible to find wall space to just lean against, so we end up hanging out in the deep end - but it gets tiring having to alternate between holding the sides and kicking your feet and just hanging your arms off the side to hold you up. Wish they could find some way to regulate the amount of time or people that are allowed at once.
I still like this place, though. There's lots of grassy areas where you can lie down and tan, or you can relax on a chaise lounge and tan that way. The employees are mostly teenagers, but they are all pretty friendly and seem happy to be there. Hubby and I don't have kids, and we still enjoy coming here because there's no drama and the facility is still fairly new. Check it out if you're in the area! -

Great place to take small kids for summer time fun. It's a small park, but totally worth it if you are looking for a no fuss family activity. They discount the price after 3 PM, but if you get there early (before noon) there's barely anyone there. The lockers are $5, but close to the action & it's your locker for as long as you want...worth it if you don't want to worry about leaving your stuff unattended. Ample parking and seating areas. Its a clean facility and the staff is friendly. Can't wait to go back next summer!

We LOVE Splash! This is the 2nd year we've gotten passes. My daughter is 4, so the park is the perfect size for her and we live only 10 minutes away. She also takes swim lessons here and she's had great experiences with the instructors.

La Habra, CA
This place is great! It just opened in November 2007. It is a great place to take the kids. It is very inexpensive in comparison with larger water parks. $14/adult and $9/kid (ages 3 -12). It is across the street from Biola behind the Civic Center. They have 2 large pools an adult spa and a place called Buccaneer Bay. It houses 3 large water slides, a lazy river, and a kiddie area. It's a smaller scale water park, but it is totally worth it. There are plenty of lounge chairs that circle all of Buccaneer Bay. There is also an onsite snack stand. We were told that we couldn't bring food in but we snuck it in anyway. We didn't have any issues. Locker rentals are $10 but $6 of it is a deposit. They accept visa and mastercard. Parking BLOWS on swim meet days. I think it's worth another trip before the end of summer.
Listed in: Kid tested, Mom approved.

Awesome place to take kids. It's definitely smaller than the average water parks around socal, but its just perfect when you have to keep an eye on your little ones. There's ample amount of lounge chairs and you can reserve cabanas for parties. Can't bring food inside the "Buccaneer Bay" area except if you have bought them from the food stand. You can try sneaking them in, but some checkers really dig in to your bags..so just watch out. It gets a tad bit crowded at times, we usually go towards late afternoon prior to closing so we can get good parking and a good spot to lay our towels and stuff. It's very inexpensive, you get what you pay for since there's limited slides and things to do. Definitely not an ideal place for active teenagers that want to enjoy adventurous slides and rides.

This was the best place for the kids! Conveniently close enough, big enough for kids and adults to enjoy, and not too crowded. My family had a blast here on opening day for the 2010 season. We bought a season pass for only $49! It's clean and there are lots of staff and lifeguards everywhere and they enforce the rules too.
This place lost its 5th star because of it's slightly confusing and disorganized ticket purchase/check-in process. Now that we have a pass it should be faster though. -

I go here because I have a 1.5 year old son and he likes all the water sprays and shallow pool. The park mainly attracts families with small kids - no rowdy teenagers here. Can't bring outside food except bottled water. Lockers are available for $5.
