OMG!!!! This place is AMAZING it makes my mouth water to even write about it. We had the plate w/ all the fixings mouth watering goodness in every bite. We also had their much recommended Spinner Fries soooooo.... Good, I can't believe I've never been here. The customer service is excellent and its so clean they have two
T.V.s with the game on. Trust me this place is worth 6 or more stars clean, super good, excellent service and good prices. I'll find a reason to be in the area soon  just to come eat again ;).

P.S. This is a family owned business, and ladys we all are sensitive and get the willys in public restrooms right? Well this bathroom is clean, new, and very nice actually smells good.

We ate here with a Groupon certificate and had no problem using it, except, it was Spinner fry special day and since we had a Groupon we had to pay full value, that is fair but if they had allowed the special I might have had a better first impression of this little place and actually spent more money there. We placed the order over the phone and were given 10 minutes to pick it up, we arrived and the food was ready. The staff was very friendly and the place looked clean. We had ordered the Chicken plate, Spinner Fries and Baklava with Nutella topping. The fries were different, very good actually, would probably go back for these again. The chicken plate was alright, chicken was a little dry, and the fact that I am not much of a Greek food fan, I probably cannot be too harsh to judge it. The baklava was also very tasty, not too sweet and just right.

Will I be back, maybe, if I get a craving for those unique fries.......

Very clean, super fresh, great location, friendly staff, solid 4 stars!

BF had the falafel plate, I had the chicken plate. Came with tabuleh, veggies, pita, choice of french fries or saffron rice, and taziki sauce. All for 8 bucks. Not bad. Food was really fresh and flavorful. It is sit down restaurant quality in a casual environment.

    We will be back.

I like Spinners, I really try to at least.

I appreciate that they have daily specials, because their menu prices seem a little high.  When I lived in Rancho my husband and I tried them out a couple of times and we really like their Spinner Fries and their Taco Tuesday's. We've moved closer to Downtown area and when we are in the area we still go to Spinners and get take out.

    Now onto the negatives:

Service - When you walk in or call into Spinners you are never greeted very nicely, AT ALL! When you order a Gyro burger they don't tell you it takes almost 20 minutes to get it! My husband ordered a burger and I ordered taco's one time.  My taco's were ready in 5 minutes, his burger in 20 so when we finally got to eat, my food was stone cold!!!! When you call for an order they usually say "Got it, ready in 15" and i've actually been hung up on after that point on multiple occasions. They are really lacking in the customer service department.

Quality/Quantity of the food - Their fries are pretty good but the amount you get is never consistent.  We've ordered before and were not able to close the lid, other times we got maybe 20 fries and zero toppings.  The taco's like I said are really good, but their shells are horrible! I've never been able to eat one of their taco's (whether it's eat in or carry out) that hasn't broken apart on me, get better taco shells Spinners! The gyro burger, while my husband says it's good and a fresh patty isn't worth almost $9 bucks! It's ground beef with greek seasonings!

I still do go once in awhile for some Fries so I give them a 3 because I can't resist their gyro meat, it's really good!! But I've learned to call my order in 15 minutes before I get there and always check my food before I go!

We went there with a Groupon. The food was amazing. I had the Spinners Fries. WOW. SOOOOOO Good. I mean really really good. Husband had the Gyros plate and he was very happy as well. Very clean as well. We also tried the baklava. That was excellent as well. We will definitely be returning!

I happened upon this place per yelp suggestion.  I was meeting a friend for lunch and this place was close.

I ordered the Spinner Fries and the friend did the Spinner Nachos.  It took about 15 minutes to receive our order and I was surprised at the size per cost ratio.  I simply thought that they would be bigger.  The fries nachos were fresh and this was a neat spin on Mediterranean food.  Very good fries, seasoned and the pita chips on the nachos were very fresh as well.

I guess my only complaint is that I would have liked a bit more gyro meat for my money.  I might try a sandwich next time to see if I get more stuff...

I wanted to give this place 4 stars, but I just couldn't justify it.  Here's why:

Spinners, I'm so glad I found you using my Yelp app!  I was in Rancho San Diego for work and I had a couple hours to kill cause my dumb ass arrived too early!  Using my Yelp app I found a great Mediterranean restaurant less than a mile away that had awesome reviews! I was definitely excited to give it a shot and continue on my quest to find the BEST Gyro in all of San Diego.

OK, so Spinners, oooh la la! Very fancy pants, is this a chain restaurant??  The place had flatscreens for their menu's and it just looked very well put together -- nothing like a brand new business just starting up.  Walking up to the restaurant I noticed the banner of daily specials, and WOW, $1 taco Tuesdays?? I was quite tempted to give their tacos a shot... but my stomach insisted on a Gyro!

So I got up to the counter and waited a minute or two for someone to acknowledge me.  Instead of the customary customer-service "Sir we'll be right with you" I got a "Hey bla bla bla, can you take his order?".  I work in customer service so I notice little things like that.  Anyway, I ordered their Gyro Sandwich ($6.49?) and added on a drink & some fries for another ($2.49).  My total came out to $9 something, kinda pricey for what I got ~ small drink & a small fry.

So another reason why this place is getting a 3 instead of a 4 is the wait time.  I waited almost 20 minutes for them to cut off some lamb, throw it on a pita with some tomatoes & onions and serve it up with some fries.  I mean, yes there were only 2 people behind the counter and all the tables were full, but I'm comparing this place to that Gyro place at UCSD that I've been to a lot recently, and they serve their food up really quick.  I mean, if I was on my lunch break, it would have been disastrous.

Now to the meat of the review, the Gyro.  The Gyro itself was very tasty.  Other reviewers aren't kidding when they say the meat is very flavorful.  They pile the meat ON TOP of the tomatoes and mix it in with the onions.  It's nice because those toppings don't go all over the place.  Pretty smart!  My only complaint would be how the meat was cut.  I realize it was taco Tuesday, but mixed in with the normal slices of lamb meat where lamb "taco" meat - small chunks of what appeared to be leftover meat piled on top of the regular slabs.  Don't get me wrong, I really enjoyed the Gyro, it was just a mess having to put those pieces back on the sandwich.

All in all, not a bad experience.  Really tasty Gyro, but wasn't really impressed with the customer service, the price, or the wait time for my food.  Would I come back? If I was in the area again I'd probably try something else, or just come back for their daily special.  That $1 taco deal sounded pretty good!  Best Gyro in town? Hmm... It was pretty good but I've had better.

Yay - I'm a fan? Not quite. Nothing here has really pushed me to that point and that is why to me it is just "A-OK". Not bad to where I have anything negative to say, but even though it is close to where I live, its not a place I will go to regularly for that type of ethnic food.

Yes, the place is clean & service is good, but the food is just "OK". Flavor-wise nothing has been elevated beyond just "OK".

I went there with a coupon which is a rarity for me because I never use them. Anyway they made such a big deal about it and said I could not order this or that to use it. What the heck?  Why give out a coupon if it's that difficult or if you don't really want to give one?  Anyway the food was disappointing to boot. Nothing like the pictures. My felafel was dry and tasteless.

Spinners is a great addition to East County restaurants. The restaurant is cute, super clean, and the guys are really really nice.

The food was good, fresh, though I was disappointed in the side dishes...the cabbage quinoa salad had very little quinoa - and the tabbouleh was mostly parsley. They aren't too pricey at only $3 each, but they were bland and not memorable. The hummus, however, was very smooth & tasty.

Definitely worth a return visit and especially with the coupons from social buying sites or get1free...Bon appetit!

I ordered the gyros sandwich and made it a combo with rice and a small soda. Total cost was 9 bucks and some change. A little pricey I thought. The sandwich was well stuffed with gyros meat with some tomatoes and onions. It was missing cucumbers though. The sauce was light a flavorful. The rice was really good with a melee of Middle Eastern herbs. The rice was a nice size portion as well. This place has good decent food.

Two words.... SPINNER FRIES! Holy gyro, are they good! If you like carne asada fries and Greek food, prepare to be amazed bc Spinners has combined these two wonderful things to make SPINNER FRIES.

My husband, our son and our good friends went here a while back and we had the place to ourselves. Literally. Only one other person came in the whole time we ate... It was a rainy night, but it was weird.

I had heard about this place from several coworkers and wanted to order something other than the Spinner Fries... Big mistake. Not bc the food I ordered wasn't good but bc the Spinner Fries my hubby ordered were so yummolicious! I just about lost a finger trying to go in for a third bite. I ordered the chicken gyro plate (for those who don't like traditional gyro meat) and it was pretty tasty - very generous portions. Shaved chicken (very tasty, little dry), Greek rice (fluffy, well seasoned, YUM), tibouli (which was a little too .... earthy for me), beet salad (which was interesting... in a good way), hummus and pita. My gf ordered a Greek chicken salad and really liked it. Our son plowed through a boatload of rice, pita and hummus.

The food was good, but I'm telling you - order the Spinner Fries - lest you have Entree Envy........ Service was fine, atmosphere was fine, prices are good for the portion you get - typical hole in the wall, strip mall eatery. It's their food that sets them apart :)

Horrible! Am sorry but its a shame to the entire middle east's Shawarmah or a.k.a sliced steak or chicken meat to have it served and made the way those whom ever to make it and sell it!
This is truly an awkward, weird, and over priced place to eat it!

    Wouldn't go back...

Maybe a 3 1/2 stars really.  We got the family special (serves 4) and used our groupon.  After eating we still had plenty for bringing home.  I loved the hummos and tabouli and the large green salad (had olives, pickled turnip, sliced red onion, tomato, cukes, and feta).  Good Greek dressing, good taziki sauce, and then there were sides of the Greek olives, more pickled stuff, more tomatoes, and extra feta.  Plenty of pita bread and a container of seasoned rice.  We chose to have the gyros as the meat.  The food was decent, and plenty of it.  The meat was good to me, but my husband whined and said he did not like it.  I have to admit, we have had better, but it was still good.  And we ordered some falafals as a side.  We all ate plenty and were way full.  No room for dessert.

They have small tables inside and some nice tables that could be put together for a larger group outside, and shaded from the summer sun.  And it was a comfortable day to enjoy the outdoors.  And the guys manning the counter, especially Junior, were very attentive, making this a pleasant experience.

Pretty good - kind of far from my pad, and I don't think I'd trek out to Rancho again just for Spinners...but if I were in the area again, I'd consider it.

Very, very interesting twists (or, spins? :) ) on Mediterranean food.... I had the falafel taco and the gyro taco (both very tasty) and the bf had the gyro burrito & spinner fries.  He said he enjoyed the fries much more than the burrito.

Located right next to Cuyamaca College...definitely a nice option for a healthy lunch.

A groupon deal made me drive out of the way to try the famous spinner fries.  To echo all the other reviews....wow!  I don't think they serve fries like this in the Med but thank goodness for the inventive chef behind this dish as it will surely be calling my name again.

The greek salad was slightly disappointing because it didn't have olives or pepperocinis....just a bit of cucumber, tomato and feta.  So nothing remarkable there but back to the fries.....

They come with either gyro meat or chicken and we tried the chicken.  The fries are perfectly crisp and don't get soggy with the toppings of hummus and taziki sauce and meat.  It truly is a meal in itself.  Will have to return on $5 Fridays.

First impressions mean a lot and this place does it right: the restaurant is clean and inviting. The meat is spinning on the rotisseries behind the counter beckoning you to try it. The customer service my first time in was fantastic. The man behind the counter was friendly, patient and helpful.

TIP: Let them know if you're new to Mediterranean-style food and they'll let you sample a little bit of what they've got behind the counter. And it's yummy!

Their gyros are positively STUFFED with meat and the combo meals are enough for two. Next, I've got to try those Spinner fries! They're like our local San Diego-style carne asada fries but Greek Style. I love San Diego.

I get dizzy and the "spins" just thinking about this place.  Like a school girl who's about to prank call her crush for the first time and hang up when he answers (yes I used to do that).

This place gives me food-gasms and I've been in need of one lately.  The best night to go is Taco Tuesdays.  You can get any taco for one dollar.

It's mostly greek but also mexican/fusion-- you can get tacos, gyro french fries, sandwichs, salads, vegetarian options (falafel tacos were excellent).

They have this cabbage slaw that is made with a zesty vinegerette that is so light and perfect.

Man....I'm getting hungry just thinking about it.

    Go to spinners!

Came here over the weekend to try out the Friday Special, which was their Spinner Fries at $5. Ended up choosing gyros as my meat of choice and after a not too long wait, they were ready. Delicious meat with seasoned fries, some sauce and a few other additions, it was amazingly good. It was a nice, small, clean and friendly place, and I can't wait for a return visit.

Spinner Fries: seasoned fries, topped with tzatziki sauce, jalapeno cilantro hummus (i think), feta cheese, and gyro meat. Thick, delicious slices of gyro meat. Why have I never seen this before? This should be a staple of every gyro shop in town.

My only complaint is that they put a little too much tzatziki and hummus on the fries. I might have to ask for light sauce next time. My girlfriend has tried a few of their salads and the lavash veggie wrap, which is a steal at $3.50.

I've only been there a few times so far but I hope to sample their entire menu asap.

Oh and heads up: they close at 8 every night. We showed up at 8:30 one night, starving, and our hopes of spinner fries and veggie wraps were destroyed. Very disappointing. They should stay open till at least 9 on the weekends.

After watching a sandwich show on the food channel, we were both in the mood for gyros.  Spinners is close by and had Greek food, so we thought, "why not?" Good choice!  The gyros were juicy with lots of meat, and the bread was super-fresh!  My hubby had the Greek salad with it, and it was okay.  I had the quinoa/cabbage salad.  It was okay, maybe it could use some mint or something.  Next time we will (I will) try the fries because it seems like everyone loves them.  Hmm....gyros and fries, sounds great to me!  Anyway, it is a Sunday today, so the gyros were a special price.  They have specials daily, so they keep you coming back!  Very friendly service, and very clean.  I'm glad we found this place!

One day a friend of mine was telling me he's found something better than carne asada fries. Better than carne asada fries? What is this blasphemy I'm hearing? How dare you. I just wasn't having it.

Then one day he takes me to Spinners to back up his claim. Alright cool. Mediterranean food, I dig that. I've had gyros a few times and it was pretty good. Then he hit me with the Spinner fries (gyro the only way to go). It looked great but was it carne asada fries great? I thought to myself "Eh" and proceeded to take my first bite. And let me tell you this, any reserves I had about it being better than what I thought was the greatest food in the world vanished. It was amazing. Just one bite and I had been converted. This is the real deal.

I give it a 5 based off Spinner fries alone. It really is that good. Next time I'mma looking to try them Spinner tacos I've been hearing about. $1 per taco on Tuesday? Sign me up. I only wish it wasn't so far from where I live.

Im on this new kick, going to a new place every other day to sample the food.  After reading on Spinners, i decided i had to hit it up.

So we come here, and i've heard about these "spinners fries" that they are the bomb diesel, so i decided to try em.  WOW!!! I think I am in-love...  Tender pieces of gyros meat, tzaski sauce, feta, and nice, fresh greek fries , generous portion, much better then the carne asada fries you'd get at a mexican place.   Also got a kebab burger that was yummy, and got a side of Tabouleh which really isn't my thing.  We got a few tacos since it was taco night, and they were bomb.  Gyros and chicken with these cabbage salad and feta cheese in a fresh corn tortilla.  Could not go wrong with that!!!

The place was chill, good location (only took like 20 mins from mission hills to get there), and the staff was way cool.  Answered all my Q's and was kick back.  Will def be going back!

This is one of those places you discover, and wonder why you've never been, and just kind of kick yourself. It's like, five minutes from my house, I have no excuse.

Being a huge fan of carne asade fries, I had to of course try the Spinner Fries. They are as good or better than everyone is saying - a wonderful change of pace, that you really don't want to eat all the time, but make a wonderfully rich treat.

We were lucky enough to arrive on Taco Tuesday, and sampled one of each of the different varieties of meats - let's just say that getting any one of these tacos for only a dollar is practically a crime against capitalism itself - these babies put any dollar item from any fast-food joint to absolute shame. They are like two and a half bucks regular price and worth every penny at that.

El Cajon has a lot of great middle eastern/mediterranean/arabic/greek food, and however you want to classify the modern mediterranean fusion that is Spinners, it is quality stuff. We will most certainly be back, and not just on Tuesdays!

Yum! We liked it a lot. Creative specials, the food was very fresh, and the restaurant clean. I don't know how often I'll be in that area of San Diego, but I would definitely eat there again. Maybe for their $1 Taco Tuesday specials...oh, and make sure to check in on your Yelp app and take advantage of the 15% off coupon that you get. :)

Holy mother of dog.  Carne Asada Fries is my thing.  Shawarma is also my thing.  When I heard there's a place in the greater San Diego area that sells Shawarma Fries, I nearly flipped.  Well, this place is called "Spinners" and the word "Shawarma" is not mentioned once, but this stuff is 100% better than most places that have the word "Shawarma" all of the menu.  I think they call it Spinners because it's in El Cajon and nobody in El Cajon probably even knows what Shawarma is.

Anyway, they have 3 Shawarma types: Chicken, Steak and Gyro (what no lamb?).  Sure they have a menu with normal Mediterranean fare, but forget all that....you go here for the "Spinner Fries" which is pure Shawarma heaven.  Basically it's carne asada fries but instead of guacamole, it's cilantro hummus.  Instead of sour cream, it's tzaziki sauce.  Instead of cotija cheese, it's feta cheese. Instead of carne/pollo asada, it's slow cooked shawarma meat.  It tastes great....not bland and not too all-spicey (see Aladdins).  The place is kept very clean and I like the HD tvs they have for menus.  Service is friendly too.  The only downside of this place is it's location, but it makes the trek to El Cajon worth it.  Spinner fries for life!

I went the first day it opened, because I love Mediterranean food with a passion. I've ordered the Gyro sandwich on three separate occasions; the first two times they had different ingredients, but it was also during the first week so I'll assume they were still working things out. All three times they weren't very filling, which is disappointing because the price is a bit high for what you get. The ingredients were fresh though, and the meat was alright.

The saving grace (and what will most likely kill me) is the Spinner fries. They're large, delicious, and will undoubtedly clog every single one of my arteries into submission. It's like carne asada fries, except better. It's fries topped with lamb (if you get the gyro spinner fries), tzatziki, feta cheese, and cilantro hummus. Incredibly delectable. Also, incredibly filling, unlike the sandwiches.

It's a pretty good place to hit up when you want a quick fix, or when you feel like indulging yourself with some spinner fries. I'd give it four stars if the sandwiches were bigger.

This place has great food and it's within walking distance of where I live so it's super convenient. From my experiences here, this seems like a great place to go for lunch and an "iffy" place for dinner.  We have been here several times in the evening and they are almost always out of meat and the meat they do have is all dried out. One time they were closed because they were all out of meat??? WTF? It's like Taco Bell closing because they are out of taco shells.  When they do have food, it's great and their specials are good, just get there before 4pm.
