After putting a callout on Facebook for a great wedding DJ, Terry Cole was recommended by several unrelated people, so I gave it a shot.
Terry was eager to sit down and discuss my music wishes, what was on the must play and no way lists and what sort of vibe we were going for. He even brought pre-mixed CD's for me to trial run. Classy!
Not only did Terry meet all our needs, but he did a fantastic job of reading the crowd and playing the music that really got everyone on the dance floor. He helped bring out the inner Fly Girl in all the guests!
Thank you Terry for making our wedding fun and memorable and one that people are still talking about! -

We just had our wedding and culdn't have been happier with Peter. He was a pleasure to work with throughout the pre-planning to the actaul day. He was very thorough about planning and going over our ceremony, dinner and dancing. He was very helpful in provided a mic for guests to speak and also making annoucements on our behalf.
Also, he had never worked at our location and went to Sepastopol to see the venue and meet with the on-site coordinator as well. We love Peter and you will too! -

Nothing less than 5 stars for Peter from the Spinheads....and I would give more if Yelp allowed :) Peter was amazing throughout the entire wedding planning process; he spoke with us a couple of times before the wedding to talk about timeline, songs, and the mood/atmosphere we wanted to create at the reception.
He let us dictate a lot of the music that we wanted to hear, but was also able to make great suggestions for songs, which really helped our reception flow naturally between cocktail hour, dinner and then dancing.
The thing that I appreciated the most was that he was fun without being obtrusive---I've been to many weddings where the DJ was loud and obnoxious and took attention away from the bride/groom, but this was NOT the case with Peter. He was able to keep us looped in on the timing for everything (first dances, cake cutting, ect) with ease, and definitely made me feel relaxed and not rushed.
My guests are still commenting on how much fun they had dancing the night away at our wedding. I will definitely continue to use Peter and the Spinheads for any event I have in the future! -

Adding to the chorus of praise for Peter. I was shocked that someone could have so many 5 star reviews, but they are all well deserved. From start to finish, working with Peter was fantastic. He really enjoys what he does and it shows.
He made great suggestions for dance music and ceremony music. He had every song we requested, no matter how obscure (and believe me, we requested some obscure songs). He was really fun to work with and the dance floor was never empty.
Peter was a big part of why our wedding was a huge success and a lot of fun, and I recommend him 100%! -

I put my fiance in charge of the music at our wedding. After much research, he came across Peter from Spinheads. We met with Peter who was very professional, prepared, energetic and easy going. He really put us at ease with the knowledge of our venue, extensive play list options, and reasonable price. He is definitely a quality guy and does amazing work.
Peter has the right equipment for both indoor and outdoor venues. He had every song that we put on our play list no matter how difficult it was to find. He kept our wedding on schedule. Peter kept our wedding party poppin' by reading the energy of our crowd, he kept the dance floor packed and overflowing onto the carpet.
Peter's passion for DJing really shows in his work. We will definitely hire him again for any of our future events and highly recommend Peter without any reservations. HE'S AWESOME! -

My sister got married back in July and had Peter Haley DJ the wedding. He was absolutely AMAZING!!
He did such a great job with MC'ing everything and making sure things ran smoothly, from the processional to the recessional to the speeches to the first dance to the last dance! It was such a great experience. He worked so well with my sister and brother-in-law, and even hung out with them a couple months before the wedding and had burritos in the Mission (don't ask...).
Peter played a perfect playlist for the crowd - he was great at reading the crowd and picking songs that everyone had fun dancing too. He also took requests, which worked out well for everyone. He was a lot of fun, really funny, and really friendly! Everyone who got to talk to him LOVED him. He's a great guy.
My fiance and I will be getting married in a couple of years, and will definitely be looking at Peter to DJ if we decide to go with a DJ'ed reception!
He also played "California Love" for us. It's not a Bay Area wedding without Tupac. And he delivered. Gotta love a DJ that pulls through. -

I'm a wedding coordinator and I have had the pleasure of working with Peter at Spinheads on two weddings. Peter is professional, fun, flexible and everything you want in a dj. As a fellow vendor it is extremely important to have a great crew on board to pull off an amazing event. I will gladly work with Peter again and again!

Peter Haley was the DJ at our wedding and WE LOVE HIM! He did an amazing job. He was organized and knows how to run a great party, and he collaborated with our other vendors to make sure everything ran smoothly. Actually, he 'made' our party. Without his advice in planning, wealth of knowledge on reception timelines, and ability to 'read a crowd' and make last minute changes, our reception would have been very different and not nearly as fun. We appreciate the time he took to meet with us (over skype) beforehand to fine tune our timeline.
We had a 5 course dinner and, with the pace of the food the wedding could have dragged, but he managed to keep the energy up by infusing some dance music between the courses. Peter also made sure we fit everything in even though we were running behind schedule (going to all the tables to greet the guests takes a lot longer than you would think). We had many people tell us that our wedding was the best wedding they had ever been to and Peter is the main reason why it was so well run and fun! Hiring him was like hiring a DJ and day of coordinator all in one! -

Terry Cole was a HUGE part of our amazingly fun wedding! The music was perfect, and he did such a good job at keeping the timing right on track. I have had so many compliments about how much fun our wedding was, and I know that without Terry, it wouldn't have been the same! We had such a wide arrange of age groups, and he nailed it with m,usic that everyone loved and would dance to. Our dance floor was never empty. I would hire him again in a heartbeat, and suggest him to everyone!

We met Terry Cole from a referral from the Marines' Memorial Club (where we got married).
Holly and I were instantly impressed on our first meeting. He came prepared with a list of questions, causal demeanor and his full playlist.
Right after that meeting, Holly & I knew that we had to hire him.
We sent our playlist to Terry and he said it "I got it." Those three words gave us the confidence knowing that our wedding music would not only be perfect, but fun.
On the wedding day, Terry was prompt, dressed for a wedding, quietly set up his gear and caught our attention as we prepared for the big event. We gave him our last minute guidance (no requests from crowd, no gags from wedding party) and he handled it all in stride.
Using our requested playlists, he ad libbed perfect music for the perfect moments including finding and playing our parent's first dance songs (back from 40 & 50 years ago).
We cannot give Terry Cole (aka "Spinheads") enough praise. He worked quietly, professionally and cordially with the hotel staff, the photographer and worked our guests like a true expert.
If you don't want to worry about your wedding music, you had better find and book Terry Cole (Spinheads)...you can't go wrong!

As a self-professed music snob and control freak, I was very hesitant to hire a DJ for our wedding in May at Hakone Gardens in Saratoga, thinking that we could just have an "ipod reception". Boy am I glad that we didn't go that route...
Peter Haley came highly recommended by a friend and I quickly saw why. My husband and I were sure that we wanted to hire him immediately after our first meeting, and we (by we I mean mostly my husband ;) are the annoyingly analytical types that take days to weigh pros & cons before making decisions. :P
Peter is clearly passionate about what he does and genuinely cares about the success of the event. And unlike another DJ we interviewed (who shall remain unnamed) that shied away from talking about whether he could play an eclectic selection of indie pop/rock, jazz, classical, and dance music for us, Peter was happy and excited to talk music with us. We spent a lot of time on our first meeting just hanging out and talking about the music that we liked to listen to.
We met again about a month before the wedding and he sat down and helped us plan out the entire event schedule, which was really helpful for me and my husband, since we were planning the wedding on our own, without hiring a professional planner.
Being very particular about the music, I sent Pete a document full of songs that I wanted for specific parts of the ceremony and reception. He made sure that he got all of them, and then added some of his own music that had the same feel as what I provided.
Peter's very comfortable in front of the mic and will help you keep the night flowing, but he will not be "that obnoxious cheesy DJ" and thank god because who wants that? We got lots of compliments from our friends about the music (haha I had something to do with that so thank you very much!) and the DJ. Also, it is important to note that he kept the dance floor going, and we had two distinct and potentially incompatible groups. He decided wisely that the earlier portion of the dancing would be devoted to the older ballroom crowd and then as the evening progressed, he would pick up the energy for the younger folks.
We had to make some last minute emergency changes: the slide show had to be shifted later because it was an outdoor reception and the sun set later than anticipated... which ended up also shifting the cake cutting earlier, and then we ended up canceling the bouquet and garter tosses to make more time for dancing. The scheduling changes caused a bit of confusion that can't be helped, but Peter smoothed things over for us, and the night was still a success despite some minor bumps.
After the wedding, Peter gave us 6 CD mixes full of music that he used for our wedding, and we still listen to it in the car while fondly remembering our big night. :)
If you want a reasonably priced DJ that truly cares about you and your event and is totally receptive to all your quirky ideas and particular tastes in music, Peter is your guy!Listed in: Awesome Wedding Vendors

The rating-meter above says that 2 is what corresponds to "meh," and "meh" is how I feel.
Peter Haley was our DJ for our wedding a couple of weeks ago. He seemed nice enough when we first met with him, and we were originally really happy with our choice. He also told us at the time that he would get in touch with us a couple of weeks before the wedding so that we could meet and go over any last minute requirements/changes of plans. This didn't happen, but that's OK since we were pretty busy anyway, and the email communication seemed OK (although a couple of times we had to ask him the same question more than once since if there was more than one question in an email... he wouldn't answer them all).
On the day of the wedding, Peter arrived on time and set everything up well in advance, so definitely some props for that. Nobody wants to be running around on the day of their wedding looking for their DJ.
Another positive point: He definitely is not the kind of DJ that has you play stupid party games. No beach ball throwing or any similarly dumb stuff. He plays the music, and does the required minimum of MC-ing. Good stuff.
However, the rest of the experience is fairly blah. During dinner my dad asked him to play a fairly sad Hebrew song (and as a compromise, since I didn't want him to play it) my dad asked Peter to only play half of it. He played the whole thing. Not really a big deal.
My (music snob) sister asked me during dinner if I asked him to play muzak. When I stared at her in confusion, she made some comments about how this jazz he was playing was terrible. I took it with a grain of salt since she really is a big music snob, so not that huge a deal either.
For the first dance, he started the song before we were ready. We had to stop him and ask him to restart it once we were ready. Not really that big a deal either.
And, unfortunately, after the first few songs, he really couldn't keep a lot of people on the dance floor. Part of that might be the fact that it was a late-ish evening wedding, part of that might be that we had several very disparate groups of people (Indians who only danced to Indian music, Russians, and mid-20s Americans), and maybe it was hard to kind of unite everyone and get everyone on the floor? However, during the Indian numbers a LOT of people danced, and then when Peter switched to some other stuff, there was a mass floor exodus that he didn't really react to. This was pretty blah.
All in all, I'm a tad bummed out with this vendor choice. I hired a DJ because I thought that he could get a feel for the crowd and do what was necessary to get them on the dance floor, but that's not really what happened. Maybe if your group is more uniform in their cultures, ages and tastes, Peter would be a great choice, but I was disappointed. A lot of the things I wasn't thrilled about were not big issues, and if he had kept the dancing going throughout the night I would have ignored those and given a 5 star rating, but that's not what happened. -

We picked Peter to DJ at our wedding based on all the great Yelp reviews. At first we really wanted a band because we thought a band would get more people out dancing but then we just couldn't find the right band. And I'm so glad we didn't because Peter was awesome and the dance floor was packed all night. We had to extend the reception because no one would leave. People who I thought I would never see dancing were out on the floor. Everyone commented on how great he was. I can't think of anything I would have done differently with the music. It was perfect.
Peter is so easy going and super great to work with too.
In looking back at everything I'm really lucky because the music is such a major piece of the reception and I really didn't give Peter much to go on - but he nailed it! Thank you! -

Peter Haley was very professional and helped to make our wedding awesome. He invited us to his home and also came out to our venue several times to make sure that he had a firm grasp of the layout. Our wedding and reception were spread over a large outdoor and indoor area and he made sure that he had a solid plan for setting up and moving around his gear.
We gave him a pretty diverse song list: everything from oldies, motown, 80's, classic rock, hip-hop and everything in between. Not only did he know all of the songs, but he seemed genuinely excited about them and provided great recommendations for other songs that he thought we would like. He also had some great suggestions for the actual ceremony.
On the day of, everything went off without a hitch , he kept the dance floor packed and all of the transitions went smoothly.
All in all, Peter was a great choice and we highly recommend him. -

Terry Cole DJed our wedding on July 19 and did an amazing job. He was so thoughtful about the playlist, balancing our musical style and requests with the beats that would keep everyone moving -- and I mean everyone (but especially my new father-in-law). In addition to being a deadly complement to our open bar, he was fantastic at keeping the reception schedule on track. Totally professional, knowledgeable, and friendly... and he even burned us a copy of the playlist at the end of the event. We were totally wowed.
On a related note, if you're THINKING about putting an iPod on shuffle for your reception: we did a test run and ended up having horrible upswings and downswings in volume, awkward cut-offs, and weird transitions. Seriously, enjoy your day and leave the details up to the pros... we have no regrets. -

Terry Cole DJ'd and MC'd our wedding for us two weekends ago and did an amazing job! We were busy doing a bunch of other last minute planning and errands and Terry was very patient working with us and our propensity to forget sending emails or sending things late. He was well organized and had all the songs in our requested playlist. He also came prepared with the descriptions of the wedding party we gave him and was great at MC'ing and controlling the flow of the evening.
The music he played was perfect and kept our dance floor packed and the party going. He had all the latest music and his mixing was phenomenal. We had absolutely no worries about the music throughout the night.
Terry helped us enjoy the evening by taking care of the tiny details and we were able to spend time with our guests and enjoy the party. I would definitely hire Terry again for other events! -

I usually try to write reviews that veer more towards the sarcastic and (hopefully) humorous. I will dispense with that style for Peter Haley. His talents as a DJ do not deserve that kind of treatment. Peter DJed our wedding on November 7, 2009. He was nothing short of phenomenal. I cannot say it enough. Peter was simply amazing.
We met with Peter months before the wedding, and he gave us play lists and a sample schedule to help plan the evening. He took the time to meet with us again about a week prior to the nuptials. We went over every song we wanted and what we didn't. He respected all of our wishes without questions. He made some great suggestions as well. While we were sitting with him, I mentioned a song that he did not have, and he instantly went on Itunes and bought it. No questions asked! The fact that he met with us twice before the wedding meant the world to me because he clearly wanted to understand who we were as a couple and tailor the music to us.
He played all of our requests during the dinner hour, and more importantly he did not blast out the guests. He knew how to work the room. He read the crowd perfectly and kept the dancing going all night long. More than one guest commented on how great the DJ was. He also does not engage in cheesy banter. He introduced himself, but let his talent and the music be his voice.
He is also a pleasure to work with. The grind of wedding planning and hiring vendors can be very depressing, but Peter was not. He is a genuinely nice guy. He has a very pleasant personality. When he tells you he has a passion for weddings, he means it.
We cannot recommend him more highly. -

This review is for Peter Haley of Spinheads. Peter was the DJ for our wedding just this past weekend and he did an amazing job. During the planning process, he was prompt with his emails (which I totally appreciate and unfortunately, cannot say about all of our vendors) and incredibly easy to work with. We met with him several months before the wedding and he was very well-prepared at our meeting with a music list and was really trying to get to know us and what our wedding crowd would be like so he could tailor his music to our wedding.
Fast forward to a couple weeks before the wedding. We met with Peter and went over a detailed timeline, song lists, do not play list, etc. Peter had great suggestions for the timeline and the flow of the night, which we incorporated.
At the wedding, Peter not only played all of our requests and worked them into the flow of the evening, but our dance floor was pretty much packed the entire night. I remember looking around at one point on the dance floor and thinking how awesome it was that everyone was dancing.
Now I will say that planning a wedding was not exactly my idea of fun and that throughout the process, I appreciated professional, courteous, responsive and responsible vendors. Peter was all of these and more. He was a great MC, followed our timeline and requests and was just so great to work with. We received so many compliments on the music -- he really made the night one we will always remember.
For all the brides and grooms out there who are looking for a great DJ, Peter is your man. -

Peter Haley was the DJ at our wedding in November 2008. Of all of our vendors, Peter was hands down everyone's favorite. What a great guy! He couldn't have been more helpful and accommodating during the planning phase... and at the wedding, he kept everyone dancing and happy!
If you hire Peter to DJ your event, you will not have to worry at all about the music, the timeline, or your guests having a good time. I can't recommend him enough! -

This review is for Peter Haley. Peter was the DJ at our wedding in the Presidio's Log Cabin in Sept. '09. Peter was all around amazing and certainly one of the highlights of our wedding. Our wedding was split between two generations and all of our guests continue to comment about the fun and quality of the music. Peter is incredibly nice and easy to work with and didn't have any of the obnoxious tendencies some other DJ's tend to have.
Peter has all of his own equipment and arrived on time. We had no issues dealing with him which was one less thing to worry about. I highly recommend Peter and if you're lucky enough to lock him down make sure you and your guests are ready to dance. -

Peter Haley at Spinheads is the best wedding DJ ever! He had everyone dancing the whole time, from babies to 30-somethings to grandparents. People said our wedding was a RAGER and they loved being on the dance floor.
We highly recommend him!
He also is an expert with all of the details, from making sure the mics work perfectly during the ceremony, to cue-ing the ceremony music, and making unobtrusive announcements during the reception. He was completely in tune with what we wanted.
I have now been to 3 weddings that Peter DJ'd and at each one people are dancing the whole time. -

Peter Haley, a DJ at Spinheads, recently DJ'd our wedding. My husband and I got married at the Great American Music Hall and wanted a young fun vibe to the wedding, but also to be able to accommodate the older more traditional crowd.
We met with Peter, who, in all honesty, we weren't sure about, but we had been given his name through a friend. He was absolutely perfect!!! He met with us beforehand and had such great song ideas for both the ceremony and reception. He "got" us right away--we wanted music from Frank Sinatra to Snoop. We wanted him to guide the evening, but not be too obvious. No cheese (no YMCA or chicken dances!). He took just a handful of songs we gave him and created an absolutely perfect playlist based from that. We had all our friends dancing, but also all the older crowd, too--even an 80-year-old grandma.
Peter came to our rehearsal (for free!) and made sure he was ready for the night, but also played the music for the ceremony so that our wedding party would know their cues. His fee was TOTALLY reasonable for all he did and he was classy and a complete professional. Our friends and family have all since complimented how smooth he was and he intuited exactly what/how/when to play. My husband and I are in our twenties and were skeptical because we really wanted songs our friends would dance to, but also to have 'adults' out there, too. It was perfect.
You can just tell that Peter is super experienced and can read a crowd effortlessly. He knows a ton about weddings and how they should flow. He's also just really nice. My husband and I both highly recommend him!!! -

Our wedding was a few months away, we had decided on a disc jockey, and my wife had heard about The Spinheads from a previous wedding. We went to their site and looked them up.
The Spinheads are DJ partners Terry Cole and Peter Haley. Peter wasn't available for our date, but Terry was, and we scheduled an appointment to visit him and plan our reception.
He invited us to his apartment, and the first thing you notice is his wall of CD's ('and there are plenty more in the back'). The next thing you notice is that he is a genuinely nice guy; he listened well, was excited about working with you, and was open to almost anything we said (It's Your Day).
There is little doubt that Terry had 'Been There, Done That.' He gave us a list of songs that were popular, but then it turned into an 'I Love The 70's/80's/90's' quiz show (which my wife and I are pretty good), and I don't think we stumped him once. He simply had, and knew, almost everything we've heard over a variety of musical tastes ranging from rock to classical to jazz. He took good notes, and we definitely felt like he knew what we wanted. He had an interesting life in San Francisco and it was fun chatting about that for a while. We concluded with a discussion of price, and I am glad to say that it was under my planned budget.
He also had a lot of good suggestions for planning the reception, he knows the wedding scene and the venues, and he helped out a lot in developing the agenda.
Next stop: Wedding Day. He arrived at the venue early and prepared well. After the reception, he had music playing in the background while the cocktail hour was going on, and he introduced us to the song we requested.
He MC'd the planned toasts well, and he covered up for my drunken-relative non-scheduled, impromptu I-Love-You-Man-Family-Toast (ever notice the people you want to throw out of the wedding are the people that you can't?).
He did go 'off-list' once or twice (we found out later it was from requests), but not obtrusively, and he knew how to bring crowds back on to the floor based on our selections.
He was open to the other guests and kept them going until 11:00 or so, and wrapped it up at the time we wanted. He also concluded his business with me with a Special Surprise that I choose not to list; however, it was that little bit that made me add the extra star to the rating.
All-in-all, there's a reason why the Spinheads only advertise by word-of-mouth, anyone who hires them will pass their information along to their friends. -

Terry Cole worked at our wedding this past weekend - and we got a lot of compliments on how great the DJ was. He did a wonderful job keeping people on the dance floor and played all the specific/special songs we requested - including my alma mater fight song...Hook 'em Horns!!
I've read most of the reviews here - and I have to say, if you're going to go to so much trouble to create play lists and know *exactly* what you want played, then why hire a DJ?
We went through the "do not play" list and gave him a general idea of what we like and what we don't. He didn't play anything that would fall into the categories of what we didn't want to hear...sure, there were some songs that I wouldn't necessarily have picked myself - but they weren't on our "do not play" list and the crowd loved the mix of songs he put together. Friends even came up to us during songs they requested with prideful looks on their faces because of the memories they had with us associated to those songs. Obviously we hired Terry because of his ability to read a crowd and play music to suit them and keep them moving!
As a side note, Terry checked in with us *several* times throughout the course of the evening to make sure we were happy and to see if there was anything we needed. This really set him apart and made me even happier with our choice in hiring him. -

Terry Cole really did the perfect job at our wedding. He played the music we wanted, read the crowd well, and generally kept the party moving along according to plan. He was just a really professional, affordable DJ.
Prior the wedding, we gave Terry a list of a few songs we wanted played, and a general idea of the music we thought people would like--he did the rest, choosing songs based on that information and on what the people at the party were responding to. There wasn't a bad choice the entire night. We got tons of compliments from the guests. An added bonus is that he's a pretty low-key guy, unlike some DJs we've come across, so there was no attempt to sound cool on the mic or be a personality or anything silly like that. We also really appreciated how carefully he listened to us. We'd had two choices for our "first dance" and had to jettison one, so we asked him to play it during dinner, just so we could hear it. Terry actually surprised us and played it at the end of the night as a last dance, which was a very nice touch.
Our one concern prior to the wedding was that, because we met with Terry at his apartment, we saw him in t-shirt and shorts and had no idea what he would look like at an actual event. For the wedding (and an event we went to beforehand, just to check him out), Terry wore a black suit with a red tie--classy, understated and professional.
We recommend Terry without reservations. -

Thank you Terry so much, the music and everything went great!
Terry was the DJ at our wedding in San Francisco at the Cliff House in July 2009 and the music was great, he made sure our schedule and everything we wanted went well and was professional and fun.
We received numerous compliments from guests of all ages on the music. We just sent Terry a short list of songs we liked and he picked out a great selection of music, mixing it up for all tastes.
We were recommended to Terry by my wife's friend who had him at her wedding, and we would recommend him too. Thanks again Terry! -

DJ Terry Cole deserves all of the accolades being dished out on his Yelp reviews, and more!
My husband and I celebrated our wedding about a month ago, and we still have guests telling us what a great job Terry did! Our guests ranged in age from 4 months to 85-years old, and I can honestly say that everyone had a bangin' time on the dance floor (seriously, even the infants seemed impressed). Throughout the night, guests kept pulling us aside, giving our DJ (Terry!) 2 enthusiastic thumbs up.
Terry was awesome to work with, from start to finish. On our first meeting, we chilled with Terry in his apartment and ogled his vast music collection. He even sent us home with a mix-cd! Even though our wedding was more than 6 months later, Terry never forgot who we were, and was always quick to respond to our emails. On the evening of the wedding, he was super professional, and the antithesis of a cheesy mc.
If you're the type of couple who has very particular taste in music, Terry's your guy! He will respect your wishes and do his best to play as many songs you've requested in advance as possible (even if that means asking him to play Ministry's "Every Day is Like Halloween" when he knows, and you know, that most of the guests won't know what to do with themselves).
The icing on the cake? Terry provides his couples with a set of burned cds that have all the songs played on the night of your wedding.....at the close of the evening! Seriously. We were handed a stack of 10 cds tied up with a pretty pink bow, as our reception came to an end. Total class. Total caring.
Thank you, Terry! -

Wow, I am stoked I can finally yelp you guys!
Last June I got Married and I had Terry of The Spinheads DJ for our reception -- which I will get to in a moment. The first thing I want to say is that without Terry, our reception would have been a Charlie Foxtrot -- we had an idea of what we wanted to do, but not exactly of how it would work. Terry was able to give form to what we wanted to do. From the mingling music (Sinatra, Martin, Italian), to our entrance (The Cure), The toast, the first dances, cake cutting... Terry took care of EVERYTHING!!!
Now the important part... The music was top notch. Terry knows how to really read his audience, the dance floor was packed the entire night. He played it all: Music for the Grandparents (Glen Miller - In the Mood), the folks (Van Morrison, The Beatles), and what we wanted -- 80's Music.
EVERYONE I TALKED TO AFTER THE WEDDING SAID TERRY WAS THE BEST DJ THEY EVER HEARD.
I agree.
Almost done... Almost the best part. towards the end of the night, Terry hands me a stack of Cd's with the covers saying "Matt and Andrea's Wedding." On the CD -- EVERY SONG HE PLAYED AT OUR RECEPTION! So now we listen to the Cd's and relive the greatest moments of our lives right in our living room.
The best part... VERY AFFORDABLE!
you wont find any better. Stop looking. If you want to have the best night of your life, Hire the Spindeads!!! -

Peter Haley DJ'ed at our wedding at the Rotunda in downtown San Francisco this past May, and he absolutely rocked it. We had a good feeling we had the right guy from the day we met Peter, he has a personal charm to him that makes you wonder if there is anyone he wouldn't get along with. We came in with high expectations, and Peter exceeded every one of them. During the cocktail hour, dinner and speeches Peter kept things moving smoothly, right on schedule.
We had a varied crowd at our reception, so picking the right music wasn't going to be easy. Peter seemed to do so with ease, keeping the dance floor packed for almost 3 hours. We even called him back to do an encore!
Peter made the evening exceptionally special. I hope we have the opportunity to hire him again! -

These guys make you realize that there is an art to the profession of DJing, seriously...
Peter Haley was the DJ at my wedding in Napa at the end of May, and, wow, were we impressed. Even before the wedding, we had several calls with Peter to discuss the kinds of music we wanted, our first dance, the flow of events, etc. He was always very responsive, gave great advice when we were unsure of where to fit in speeches, etc., and even checked with us several times to make sure his version of our first dance was the same one we had been rehearsing to.
The day of the wedding, he was there early to set up, dressed very nicely, and handled our guests requests very respectfully. He also orchestrated the music choices to that the dance floor was packed the entire time. For a 50 person wedding, that can be challenging, but it literally turned into a crazy dance party.
I have never been to an event where the DJ was so good at his job- brides, I could not recommend Peter enough for your wedding- he is incredible. -

Terry was the DJ at our wedding this past weekend at BR Cohn in Glen Ellen CA, and he did an amazing job! He was patient with our indecision about our first dance song, sending him a late night text the night before, and he was able to work with the absolutely obscure father daughter dance song my Dad picked out. He also read my eye signals to end our first dance song early, since we clearly had not practiced! He kept everything moving, the dance floor full, and everyone happy. He paid attention to our "please play" list and created a great atmosphere all night - from cocktails to dinner through dancing. He even ended the night by giving us a sampler of all the music he had played that evening.
I highly recommend Terry for any event, from our first meeting, countless emails, and ultimately at our actual event he was professional, fun and easy to deal with.
Do not hesitate to book Terry! -

Terry DJ'd our wedding on 9/18/10 at Wente Vineyards in Livermore.
I would give him 6 stars if I could. He was absolutely brilliant!!! Terry is a true professional. He was always available to meet and responded very quickly via email. He also made a ton of great suggestions to help out the timeline and flow of the event....we had no idea about this stuff!!!
Most importantly, the dance floor was packed ALL NIGHT, literally. We werent too picky on the exact songs and music we played, we just told him to keep the dance floor full and boy did he ever.
When he arrived onsite, he was upbeat, supportive and just a joy to have him around. He executed everything flawlessly from setup, to the ceremony music to the last song.
I can't reccomend Terry enough...
If you are searching for a DJ and come across this, stop now and book Terry. You will not regret it!! -

Terry Cole DJed at our wedding last summer and like many who have reviewed him here on Yelp, we were absolutely delighted with the outcome. With almost no direction from us, Terry put together a kick-ass playlist that really got our guests on the dance floor. He also did a masterful job MC-ing the event and keeping things on track. What's more, Terry was incredibly friendly, patient, and organized amidst the chaos leading up to the wedding. And did I mention this guy really knows music? A true professional. Thanks Terry!

Terry Cole is an awesome DJ...all of these reviews are true!!! Terry Cole is your premier wedding DJ. We found Terry on Yelp and set up a meeting with him at his home in SF. Our personalities immediately matched and we knew he would be perfect as our wedding DJ. He also has such a wide array of music! All of the songs I named, he knew and had and played for us. It was amazing. He was had good direction and suggestions for the wedding schedule and made planning very easy. He is easy to access via email or phone and very quick to reply. He even met with us at the venue to look over set up of speakers and to go through the schedule with our coordinators! He played all of the songs we requested and knew what to play to get the party started and going all night long. We knew he did a good job when the clock turned midnight and it was time for the party to end and everyone on the dance floor chanted "ONE MORE SONG! ONE MORE SONG!" Terry is not your obnoxious DJ that loves to hear the sound of his own voice either. He basically only spoke on the mic when he had to and did a great job of pronouncing everyone's names. He knew the schedule and was able to follow it to the T and accommodate any changes. He even gave us cds of all of the songs played during our wedding! Now that is fantastic service!!!!
Thank you Terry!!! -

Peter Haley made our wedding come alive! He is a passionate and professional DJ who has an ear for the crowd and a song list and energy that are unlimited. Selecting the right DJ was one of our highest priorities, as we knew our family and friends would definitely party all night long if the tunes were flowing. Peter had amazing online reviews -- which he proved to us are all well earned. Before officially booking Peter we slipped into another wedding he worked at and he quickly won us over with his warmth and MC abilities. At our wedding, he was on point with his music selections and could read the crowd like a true professional. We started dancing at 7pm and I don't think we had many guests leave the dance floor until after 1am thanks to Peters skills. The music was so great that we had wedding crashers dancing on the sidelines. Most importantly he cares so much and genuinely allows the music to set the tone of the wedding. We highly recommend Peter Haley to anyone who seeks an energetic and thoughtful DJ for their wedding. He was truly amazing.

Peter Haley DJ'd our wedding on Saturday, Sept. 6, at the Presidio Log Cabin and went above and beyond the call of duty. We were completely overwhelmed and amazed at how professional and helpful Pete was during this special occasion. Since we did not hire an event coordinator, in fact our whole wedding was pretty DIY, Pete stepped up into this role without hesitation. He took our time line and coordinated the all-guest group photo, bridal party introduction, toasts, cake cutting and first and last dances, making sure all the guests were gathered for these special events. Pete welcomed us into his home for two meetings and totally understood our style of music, expanding on our play list within our tastes and never once trying to insert music he thought "should be played." A total professional, Pete works with both CDs and his Mac and was able to take requests on the spot from our guests. All of our guests were moving on the dance floor all night.
Pete also did our ceremony music and took extra time and care to make sure he had the correct versions of our classical songs.
I can't say enough about this DJ. If music is one of your top priorities for your wedding, you should definitely consider Pete Haley! -

Terry was our DJ at our Wedding last night. I don't think anyone could have done a better job. He was fantastic at reading the room and keeping the party going. Terry is truely an artist when it comes to finding the perfect songs at the right time. Everyone kept commenting on how great the DJ was and asking where we found him. He was very good about playing all of our requests. I really enjoyed how Terry was able to expertly balance being classy and making sure everyone was having a great time dancing the night away. Terry made sure to tailor all of the songs to perfectly set the mood and chose songs to perfectly customize everything to us.
After reading some of the reviews below, I completely agree with the majority of them. It seems that the folks who were dissatisfied would rather have had an iPod with a preset play list than a DJ/MC who makes sure everyone is having a great time.
Terry is not only an excellent DJ but he is also a great person. I honestly cannot say enough about the wonderful job he did or his personality. He makes you feel at ease and makes sure that you are the center of attention. Terry was extremly professional while being very personable. He definately knows what he is doing and does it very well.
Although Peter was not our DJ for our event, we met him a few times and he was also extremely professional and personable.
If you are looking for a DJ for an upcoming event, I would absolutely recommend the Spinheads. With them, you can't go wrong. -

You couldn't ask for more!
My beloved and I decided to hire a DJ for our wedding in May. We found a few with excellent reviews on Yelp!
Terry was professional and enthusiastic from the start. Although he was on vacation in Japan, he took the time to have a brief email correspondence.
When he returned, he invited us to his house, where we got to see the famous 'Wall of Music' (actually now a double wall...), not to mention some excellent poster art. We had a simple and easy conversation about what music we liked, and it was clear that Terry knew a LOT of music and artists.
We took care of the paperwork and details without hassle.
A day before the wedding, I emailed Terry a list of songs i had found on browsing my collection. I told him these were only suggestions, given the short time frame. Yet, most of these made it into our wedding reception the next day.
Terry was an all-out nice guy! We left it all in his hands, and he took over with great tunes, beautiful transitions, and excellent energy. I LOVED the music, and couldn't have had more fun dancing. Everyone had a great time, from the 8 year old nephew to my wonderful aunt and uncle (who have been married over 63 years)!
We would HIGHLY recommend Terry in every respect. BTW, I am an ex-professional musician, and a bit fussy. No troubles here!
We give Terry the full two thumbs up! -

We hired Terry Cole for our wedding and he was great!
He made our wedding fun, and played music that got everyone out on the dancefloor without us having to drag anyone! He was on top of everything in the timeline that we gave to him. And he was great at announcing all the events and the introduction of the bridal party.
