Simply put - Go there and order the Rack of Lamb. Oh My God - it is not only succulent, it is by far the best dinner I have ever had.
Sergio the owner has greeted me warmly like family. His restaurant is a beautiful take on a Spanish Villa. Not like your normal commercial restaurant property with plain front and 'easy to find doors'. The wait staff not only understands the menu, they can explain the area of Spain it comes from and the differences between Madrid, Barcelona, and the Northern Galician cuisines.
The soup changes daily and is included in your meal. If you order appetizers - I highly recommend the Pulpo - absolutely perfect with
the perfect seasoning.
Overall you will find Spain92 not just a great meal but a great experience and you will be back again and again. For people who enjoy good food, great atmosphere and a wonderful experience - go to Spain92. -

Lunch on a Saturday afternoon (2:30) was quite a disappointment.
All tables are given complimentary vegetable soup and bread. They were both mediocre and nothing to rave about. Entrees were large portioned. Food was good.
So why the two stars? If I referred to the service as slow, it would be a compliment. There were a MAXIMUM of three tables (no more than four at a table). There was one waiter and one busboy. This apparently was overwhelming for them as it was a constant struggle to receive adequate service. The waiter was not attentive and had to be reminded multiple times for another pitcher of sangria. Our dessert order was taken by the busboy...or so we thought. He completely failed to either write down the order or just never placed the order with the kitchen. The order was for a dessert and a alcohol-infused coffee beverage. Maybe there was an issue with the bar? Possibly, but that doesn't explain the lack of communication.
We did not receive the typical "How's everything with your meal?" questioning during the meal nor during dessert.
I will stick to the take-out service if I decide to dine here again. -

Hola from the Glutinous Pig.
Todays subject - Spain 92
If this is BWs ideal of a good spanish restaurant,, sheesh, humans are easy to dupe.
Slow to be greeted, slow to be seated, slow to be feed-ed.
Not well boding with a 59% attendance on a friday night.
Having driven by the past 11 months I knew one day I would waddle through the door, and have a dining experience.
Little did I know it is a guessing game where the entrance actually is.
We could have mapped this experience along a timeline demarcated in decades.
Servers were on their own planet and timescale.
When I pick up my silverware, it is expected to be clean, not grodey
I would have thought the waiters watching me clean the spoon from my service may have been enough of a hint to bring a fresh service.
Nope.
After a bit of waiting, the bread to the table was a common portuguese style rolls. My guess, came from Wegmans daily.
However they we perfect for a Charlie Chaplin re--enactment.
Again, a pause, and we are offered the menus.
Pretty basic, pretty pricey, so my hopes were up for nice portions.
While waiting to order, we were offered house soup, very common among Spanish joints.
This daily varietal was a chickpea puree that was as generic as can be, and when we asked if it was a vegetarian base, the waiter flat out lied...you could taste the chicken stock.
Vegetarians, please do not bother to eat here, the veg selections are so bland, they were unpalatable, and incredibly overpriced for the serving size and lack of ingredients.
The Stuffed Sole was a tad over cooked, the stuffing a little under cooks, and the sauce disgustingly salty.
The mashed potatoes could have easily come from a box since they were perfectly uniform, a smidge gritty and just mundane.
The additional plated veggies were julienned carrots without a hint of flavor, a wedge of red pepper that has been sitting way tooo long and over cooked broccoli florets.
It is sad to see that such schlock could be served - one as a "special" - sheesh.
Point is an average dinner for a person here with an appi, entree and a drink is easily a 30 a head wallet dive, which is pathetic for what you get, not a value in any stretch, nor worth the shit state of ingredients, and sub-par semblance of cooking.
Here is the deal, the place is large, under lit, and seems to have adequate parking.
A nice size bar, largesse dining rooms, kitschy decor are all reasonable.
Head to Newark, the 80 some odd Spanish restaurants there have much better odds of being better to this joint.
I can think of 3 off the top of my head.
If I were you, run the bulls straight out the door and climb over the walls out of their path to somewhere else.
Off the dining circuit on my gluttony card.

This was a decent choice for a weekday business dinner. Spanish cuisine, but individual entrees offered instead of tapas. The restaurant has multiple dining rooms and our group got a semi-private corner upon request. The restaurant was not busy, and as a suburban choice, did not have much energy or vibe. Service was great in the beginning, but a little slow at the end with getting water refilled and the check. I'm sure our larger group size of 10 bogged down the kitchen a bit. One of the entrees came out incorrectly, but was corrected within 15 minutes.

I'm in love with Spain 92. We eat out here frequently. I've come here a number of times for both lunch and dinner and have never been disappointed! Spain 92 has the best soups and rotates them daily, so it's always a surprise when you go there. They are very flexible with their menu as well. I frequently change up/ adapt menu items and it is never a problem- infact many times the waiters remember what I tend to like and how I usually request things to be cooked. Whenever I order it's always a struggle because everything is just THAT GOOD!
One of my favorite people is the owner, Sergio! He is an extremely kind and gracious host, always remembers you and will make his rounds to the tables during the night to welcome you and chat. When I go to Spain 92, I feel like I'm eating my grandmothers cooking and eating among friends and family. Sergio will often times send free shots to your table if he knows you're celebrating a special occasion or just as a thank you for visiting :)
You can't go wrong eating out here- great food, beautiful restaurant and fantastic people!!! -

While the service is very friendly and accommodating, the money spent is not worth the food. My wife and I both ordered Spanish style dishes (Paella and a fish with rice). The rice was not well seasoned. The protein in the paella was overcooked and tough. The paella rice was not well seasoned either. Overall, the meal was unappealing that we passed on our favorite course - dessert.

I am truly surpised that this place has gotten the good reviews that it has. The service was friendly, but we had no less than 4 waiters, and never knew who was taking care of us. Not a good bar selection, and the bread that they bring out is like cardboard- totally tasteless.
We got the Paella, and were disappointed that it too was generally tasteless. I'm no expert on Spanish food, but I have had excellent Paella and this was sub par (in my humble opinion).
If you want great Spanish food with a great atmosphere, go the the Spanish Tavern in Mountainside, NJ (make a reservation!), it is fabulous! -

This place is huge and great for groups.
The paella is amazing and comes in a huge pot enough to feed 4. Steaks are also decent. -

You don't expect to find really good Spanish Food along a highway in the middle of New Jersey, but there it is. Try the chorizos espanoles appetizer and the seafood paella.

We tried this place for lunch today. Just a bit more expensive than I normally go for but still reasonable at $58 for two including two appetizers, two mains, two glasses of wine, tea and espresso (before the tip).
The place is big, nicely laid out, white tablecloths, good service, very good seafood. We tried the mushrooms stuffed with crabmeat (they could have added more crab), clams casino (excellent), shrimp pica-pica (nice), and a slightly strange combo of lamb chops and lobster tail (excellent lobster but over-cooked lamb). Overall I would go back again but stick to the seafood. They include a free soup with your order which they ladle out table side - it was fine but I can't remember ever seeing soup served that way. Also they give you a basket of fresh made potato crisps with your main course which were very tasty. Very good bread.
My only real gripe is the background music, symphonic stuff played over a sound system that was not suitable.
The place is not busy at lunch. We got in and out quickly, just over an hour. I also noticed several people dining alone; to me the place must rate well - if you are going to pay these prices for your own lunch rather than when entertaining. -

My family and I have been coming here for over a decade. It gets pretty busy during Friday and Saturday nights so reservations are a good idea. I have tried and enjoyed almost everything at this restaurant - my favorite dish is the veal cutlets in mushroom sauce. The ice cream desserts in a pot are unique & very tasty here. The red sangria is delicious. We also get take out here often, and have gone to some of their events - they are a lot of fun. The staff is friendly, quick, and great.

Went here for a special dinner with the women. I had the paella which was a smoldering pot of seafood ectasy. Now being from Newark and my proximity to the Iberia's and Ferry St. eateries, I've been to quite a number of places offering "paella" complete with 4 sad shrimps, 2 lonely mussels, and enough vegetables to give a vegan a boner but the Paella at Spain 92 was what EVERY paella should be. Super delicious, very tasty, i could barely maneuver the spoon because it collided with all the shrimp, mussels, scallops, etc stuffed in there, and it had 1/2 a lobster!!!... I was very pleased and full as hell afterwards. The lady that day ordered the flank steak (she's tough) which was on par and came with very seasoned and tasty potatoe wedges. Definitely recommend to anyone craving a seafood meal without the usual insecurities of unknown places. The place itself is very well decorated, nice accents and decor making eating there pleasant and our waiter was actually a Spaniard, complete with his Spanish Accent' Lithe when he spoke lol.

AWFULLY MANAGED!I made a reservation for 3 people at 730 on a Saturday night. Upon arrival I was told 'we are running WAY behind' and would be a half hour wait. Ok, so eight o'clock comes with no seating and the host starts seating people who came in behind us. I am continually told we are ' next'. While waiting I order what is the WORST Sangria I have ever had out, let alone at a Spanish restaurant. 8:30 comes and I have to find the host who is literally hiding from me because he can't seat us. He tells me I made the reservation too late and everyone showed up at once!? Meanwhile a party of four who was waiting 15 minutes is being seated, I tell him I have never waited an hour when having a reservation. I dine out 3 or 4 times a week and have never seen such a mismanaged restaurant. We left and had a great meal at Espos in Raritan. I highly recommend some of the other eateries in the area who actually care about you and your business!

Excellent Spanish food all the fish and shellfish are delicious. Bar area rather small, can get crowded while waiting, expect to wait on weekend nights. Service is great, very friendly.
