Still a five star kind of place!

I took my mom here for a relaxing afternoon. She had never had a massage before and didn't understand what was so great about it, so I booked her a 30 minute massage with a female masseuse.

Once it was over and we met back in the changing room, she could not stop talking about what a relaxing experience it was, and how she was going to go home and schedule another one for herself there.

At the same time my mom was getting her relaxing spa treatment, I was in another room experiencing the wonderful world of Thai massage.

For this kind of massage you don't get to wear the fancy spa robe or sandals. You bring a change of very comfortable clothes. Once I was changed, I entered a candle lit room that smelled of relaxing lavender, where there was a huge feather bed and an over sized pillow. My masseuse explained that I would remove my sandals and jewelry, lie down on my back and just relax. The more relaxed I became the more she would be able to manipulate my body in the yoga poses as she used her feet to apply pressure. So, for a full hour I was able to be in a Zen state of mind while my Zen master was manipulating my body, opening it up, and I must admit at the end I did feel a lot looser and more limber.

I was so impressed with this type of massage that I rebooked for October.  This was a first for me since moving to Chicago, and to be perfectly honest I can't wait to go back!  It gives me something to look forward to and in the mean time I am trying to find ways to recreate the same Zen state of mind that I had there.

Oh how i love Spacio!
I have had quite a few massages (the best I've had anywhere by far), a handful of facials (I'm a HUGE fan) and one mani-pedi (nice, but not my fave).
The atmosphere is fresh, relaxing, modern, clean. Front desk staff is always friendly, massage therapists and esthetician I've encountered are professional, great at what they do, and helpful.
The last time I was in for a facial I expressed my frustration with my skin (leaving the acne-prone skin of adolescence but not quite sure I'm ready for anti-wrinkle obsessing). They gave me great options for skin care products both there and at the drug store.
I wish I was a millionaire because I'd be there every week!
See you soon, Spacio!

i am so sad i didn't like this place.  i booked an appointment here for myself and a friend during their Pretty in Pink special.  I booked a massage for the friend since she would run the marathon earlier in the morning and for myself a mani/pedi.

we came in 5 min late due to reroutes from the marathon and we were so rushed the whole appointment.  i came in so apologetic and the receptionist was very nice and understanding and  nicely told me that the service might be cut a little to make up time, which i understood.  the mani/pedi girl came out and was so rude saying i was late and there wasn't time to do everything, not necessarily what she was saying but the attitude that came along with it.  um 5 minutes ppl!  i was told over the phone that my appointment would be 90 minutes.  she spent 55 minutes on me.  she skipped out on the things i love about pedicures to save time i guess, but in the end, i had 30+ minutes to spare.  and not only this, she didn't say a word to me the whole time.  i tried making conversation, but she was like pissed or something and didn't say a word.  it's pretty awkward when you're sitting that close to someone, facing them and not talking.  the most awful manicure experience.  i would have tipped her nothing if the receptionist hadn't pointedly mentioned the tip envelopes.

my friend's massage was ok.  she said it wasn't the best experience partially because a massage is supposed to be relaxing and serene and her masseuse wouldn't shut up.

the only plus to my experience is that my manicure stayed for a little over a week without any additional top coat and didn't chip.  i would not come here again.  for my mani/pedis i will stick my usual place- nail magnifique.

I decided to try this place out after seeing that they were participants in http://PrettyCity.com's Pretty in Pink special.  After previous experiences with other http://PrettyCity.com promotions, I was coming in with low expectations in terms of the quality of the service and the the niceness of the staff.

However, my experience at Spacio made for a wonderful experience.  I didn't get any snooty attitude whatsoever and felt like I was being treated the same as other guests who weren't there for a promotion.  I had a wonderful 30 minute massage with Christine that was very relaxing.

The spa itself was nice and clean.  There aren't any fancy amenities but their relaxation lounge did have some yummy treats.  The treatment rooms were nice, spacious, and most importantly relaxing.  I hope to return soon for another massage, especially since they are in my neighborhood.

I had a message here last year and it was a very beautiful salon. Almost too beautiful. I actually found myself a little nervous and uncomfortable because I felt out of my element. I should have made an appointment with a friend, so we could have acted all fabulous together. However, the massage itself was really good, the masseuse professional and the overall experience wonderful. This is not too close to my house, so I'm not sure if I would be back, but I would consider giving a certificate as a gift because it is a very nice place. It would also make a very nice "girls day out" or bridal party gift.

Went to Spacio for a mani/pedi 3 months ago, and now that I find myself still telling the story of the experience, I thought I should write a review.  Although the spa itself was lovely and the receptionist friendly, my nail technician was just plain awful.   She did a fine job of the actual work, but openly disagreed with my color choice (ballet pink), commented throughout the pedicure on how thick my calluses were (I'm a waitress on my feet 8 hours a day - of course I have calluses), and upon seeing how short I keep my nails cut, she shook her head and said, "they are so short, I will not be able to make them very beautiful".
I wanted to feel pampered, but ended up feeling judged and insulted.  I would go back based on the nice things others have said, but perhaps request a less surly manicurist.

I initially tried this spa last year for the pretty city promo and found it to be absolutely awesome! Jenny Bruno is the massage therapist I see there, she's great! Not only are her massages the best she also takes the time to do a full consultation before your service. I give them 2 thumbs up!!

I can't say enough good things about this spa/salon! I had a stressful few weeks and decided on Friday to make an appointment for a package of services hopefully for the following day. The staff tried really hard to fit me in for Saturday and I ended up getting a great package on really short notice. After a little time on the phone with staff, I could tell they were trying really hard to accommodate my requests. I came in the next day to find that every single person was super professional and very client focused down to the details. The services that I got were all excellent, and the hydrotherapy session in particular was incredible. I felt like all of the staff went out of their way to make sure that I had a great experience and I felt really comfortable and welcome the whole day. I will definitely recommend Spacio to all of my friends and I will definitely be coming back soon!

The place is warm and welcoming, and they offer you water or coffee when you check in. I came as part of the pretty in pink promotion.  Renee did my mani-pedi and she was awesome.  Nice, meticulous, and did a great job with my nails. She gets 5 stars.  My haircut was with Michael, and it was OK.  I know it's the $31 special, but he made the experience feel really cheap. I felt rushed, and the job was done fast, and really the haircut was very boring, and he didn't add the layers as I asked.  Oh well, I guess you get what you pay for.  But overall, cute place. I'd go back for a mani/pedi, but not for a haircut.

After a particularly hellacious week, I decided to splurge and treat myself to a spa day.  I called Spacio on a Friday morning and was able to get appointments for a massage, body wrap and facial the next day.  Fantastic, considering I tried a few other places with no luck.

The spa is very peaceful, with a nice locker room with great bath products and a cute waiting room with cucumber water and delicious trail mix.  My massage and body wrap were HEAVENLY!  I even fell asleep during the wrap, and the technician let me stay there a bit longer to relax since she had some space before the next appointment.  The facial was less great (hence the four stars).  This was with a different esthetician and, while relaxing, I didn't feel like she was very knowledge about my skin or did anything particularly individualized.  I didn't notice a difference the next day, either.

All in all, I wouldn't spend the money on the facial again, but I definitely hope to be back for more body treatments soon!  It was a wonderful way to escape daily life for a little while and completely refresh.

I spent a lovely afternoon here with two girlfriends and my mom. My girlfriends and I had facials and pedicures, mom had the hot stone massage (we had some scheduling difficulties as I added my mom on last minute-but they were super nice to us and gave us some freebies for being understanding). My facial was with Vanessa. This was my first facial and it was amazing. My skin was glowing and my pores were much smaller when I left. She also gave me an amazing back massage-go for the signature facial. I felt very refreshed. I do not remember who did my pedicure, but I went 3 weeks ago and my feet still look amazing! Worth it to spend a bit more than at your average nail salon. I also used their shower and it was like heaven. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking to relax. They also have a great line of products and I am loving my new moisturizer!

So without getting too personal, I was terrified of getting a Brazilian wax. The humiliation of having your privates examined under a spotlight, while every hair was painfully and unceremoniously ripped from the root was enough to make me want to down a bottle of wine prior to my appointment. However, Cathy was awesome! Her quick, skilled hand and friendly personality not only eased some of the pain (it still hurt, but it gets easier each time), but alleviated anxiety about being modest.

Also, the spa itself is beautiful. The waiting room and locker rooms are very inviting and relaxing. Highly recommended!

My massage with Kristen was the best massage I've ever gotten for under $100 ($95 for 60 minutes). The room was very dark (awesome), the music was nice and the linens were soft and comfortable. Kristen did a great job and I would definitely go back to her if I lived closer to Spacio.

Can't give them five stars because Bliss' Blissage 75 knocks this out of the water, but for the price it's a great massage and a nice space!

Spacio was one of my first spa experiences in Chicago.  Ive had waxing, mani/pedi's, and massages.  All were good-- although when it comes to the spa experience they fell a little short.

No one really explained what I was supposed to do in prep for these things even tho I had mentioned it was my first time at a spa when i went there to get my first brazillian.  I expected more guidance.

In the end now that i've had more experience with spas I wouldnt go back to Spacio-  Their services are fine, but middle of the road.

This place was awesome probably one of the best I have been too. Clean, nice, new, accomodating. I looked at the other reviews and was surprised at some of the negative ones. This place has lockers and shower room to put your things, they offer nice leather chair waiting room, with healthy snacks, the rooms are large and completely full of ambience!!! I loved it...I got a wax and facial and definitely will go back again. I thought the staff was very nice and no pressure to buy...it was great!!!

The downfalls are that it is expensive so its a special occasion spot.  I cant afford going here all of the time

What's worse than spending $250 on a bridesmaid dress you are never going to wear again? Being Casper the Bridesmaid in the $250 dress... hence the dire need for a spray tan! Never having a spray tan before I was a little nervous how it might turn out on my pasty Chicago skin. However, there was no need to fear the tan as Spacio did an amazing job and calmed my fears. They listened to me and guided me through the maintenance of my spray tan. After feeling like I could compete on Dancing With The Stars, I looked naturally tan and couldn't stop admiring my "tan" - this could easily become a new addiction!

If I were filthy rich, I would be a spa junkie, but I'm not so I've only been to Spacio twice.  The first time was for a mani/pedi, which was just ok.  I love the understated, calming atmosphere at Spacio, so the experience was better than the budget nail salon that I usually go to.  But the result was not as good as the polish was applied way too thick.  I found out later that Spacio is really known for their massages and skincare treatments.  I hate facials because they've only ever irritated my skin, so for my second visit, I booked a bikini wax and salt scrub.  The bikini wax was awful and gave me an infection.  The lady who did my wax was way chatty, which some people like but I find annoying.  And I was never in so much pain.  I think she went over the same spot like 6 times, no joke, so I developed an infection and was BLEEDING for 2 days.  It was enough to turn me off of waxing forever.  Now for the reason Spacio gets 4 stars.  The salt scrub was definitely 5+ stars and better than any professional massage I've had.  The exfoliation + massage was just so soothing and refreshing at the same time.  Massages sometimes leave me feeling unfulfilled, but the salt scrub made all the difference because it actually left my skin feeling clean and moisturized.  Plus I smelled soooo good walking out of the salon.

Spacio was everything I expected it to be. I highly recommend you visit Mandy if you have complex skin. I am fair with crazy olive tones which means I am a dry patch here and an oil well there! Mandy took her time to explain how and where I should exfoliate to avoid overexposure to the sun. I have never been told this before!! When I exfoliate my skin I exfoliate everywhere, not realizing that I am harming the most sensitive areas of my face. I have been getting facials for over 15 years and this is the first time I was basically given a tour on every inch of my face! I loved the attentiveness and she did not try to sell me anything.
O.k. she did give me a complimentary Micro-Dermabrasion. Great sell! I  made my return appointment for another session 3weeks  from now! DARN!!! :)

Went for a spray tan for a wedding.  The staff at the front desk was friendly, and quickly showed me to the locker room.  The space was nice and clean, nothing overly special.  Then, as I was waiting, the technician came in and showed me to the tanning room.  She wasn't rude, but not overly friendly either.  I got sprayed then I was told to stand in front of a fan for 10 minutes.  She left me, and I stood there as I was told to.  She came back and then showed me out.  I got a little sheet from the front desk on how to care for my new tan.

Now I know it's not rocket science, but I guess I expected a little more information from the technician, especially given the fact that I told her that I had never done this before.  Later that night, I noticed that she sprayed a part of the back of my hairline pretty heavily, which was sloppy and left a drippy mark on my neck.  Luckily, I wore my hair down for my event.

Bottom line - it's a decent place and my tan looked pretty good.  It lasted about 6-7 days.  However for $60, I expected a little more smiles and service.

I started visiting Spacio a few years ago b/c they carried Keihl's.  When one of the staff asked me why I use certain products, I realized that I was doing a few things wrong. She turned me onto a couple products that really work for me.

Recently, I bought the wrong product b/c I was in a hurry and not paying attention.  (May as well be honest) I called the spa and found out it was no problem to return it.  Nice! I HATE crappy return policies.  Too often we're stuck with unwanted products that don't work for us. I love a business that doesn't have a fussy return policy.

In an effort to buy locally, I shop at Spacio rather than Sephora for a few items.  They have great merchandise points/rewards card so it's an incentive to come back as well.

Everyone has always been very friendly.  I've never found the staff to pushy or trying to push their merchandise.

I have not yet mastered the art of not wincing/twitching/screaming at the top of my lungs during a bikini wax. However, this is the first place I have found in the city that does not only a fantastic job (thanks, Mandy!) in not a lot of time, but does it for cheap.

I challenge you to tell me of another salon that has a spa feel, soothing music, aromatherapy, and trail mix and lemon water in the waiting lounge(!) that makes me want to go back and get all of my hair ripped out of my most sensitive area.

Best wax I've had in the city; I'll never go anywhere else again.

Loved this place! It was a normal price for an hour Swedish massage - $95 - and was a really nice, modern and clean spa.

Upon arriving the girl at the desk was really friendly and jumped right up to show the changing room, shower facilities, etc. And the shower was soooooo nice...I live in a rental so the option of using a waterfall shower is like heaven. They carry good products also.

Dominick was an excellent masseuse and would definitely ask for him again when I go back which i hope it sooner then later. :)

I went here for a waxing and a pedicure.  The waxing was terrible.  I would not recommend this place.

The pedicure was great.  My big toe nail got chipped when I was putting on my flip flop and the woman actually re-did it for me.  I was very pleased!

I have no complaints about this place. It was so relaxing and wonderful. I got the body cleanse and massage package, and it was sooo wonderful. The salt scrub made my whole body feel smooth! They also have showers to clean off when your done.

The place was very clean and very professional.

The reason I gave it 4 stars and not 5 is because it's a little on the pricey side for what you get, and also, after your shower, they didn't have any lotion. They had shampoo, soap, facial cleanser, q-tips, mouthwash, but no lotion? It was a little weird.

But overall a fantastic experience.

I recently had a facial here (I think Christina was her name)?  Very professional and relaxing.  I have only had a few facials before, so didn't have much to compare it to, but definitely enjoyed the experience.

Although they have a loud salon, they section off the spa area so it is nice and quiet.  There were places to shower and get ready if you had done a few treatments- and they provided tons of products to use (which I found fun to sample).

My only complaint during the facial is that instead of relaxing spa music, they had normal songs you would hear on the radio... A bit too upbeat for a spa.

I wouldn't have known about this place unless an ex boyfriend of mine bought me a package here and it was amazing - so at least I got something good out of that relationship!  ;)  The body treatments with the Vichy shower are unbelievable... I am dreaming about the next time I'll get one.  The facials are also terrific, very professional and calming.

I also love that they encourage you to relax and take your time after the treatments.  The fact that it's not hectic in there and they don't rush you makes me want to go back.

The only beef I have with this place is that it is pretty expensive... I mean, it's not the Peninsula.  Also, the mani and pedi I got weren't that impressive (granted it was a few years ago.)  I just assume go to the hole-in-the-wall nail place down the street for a fantastic combo for $32.

Great spa that also has a lot of high-end/-quality skincare products including Kiehl's -- which they're gonna stop carrying since there's a Kiehl's store right down the street... now selling at 50% off!!  I went there yesterday using a giftcard & got a helluva discount.  On top of that, the product manager was awesome & just gave me a Kiehl's cleanser for free!  With that kind of customer service I'm gonna be happy to try their spa services, which my boyfriend swears by.

Since they're discontinuing Kiehl's & are running short, if interested in a certain Kiehl's product call first to make sure they still have it in stock.  I saw the blue-colored toner & cleanser, the brightening moisturizer and a few other skincare products.

OH massages.  Spacio is a great place to get them.  I haven't been in a while, however I would like to go back soon.  My neck is killing me!  Always good service, and usually you can call day of for last minute appointments and still get the person you want.  I would talk to the receptionist and tell them where your problem spots are and they can recommend someone for your first time.  It's very comfortable there, and the staff is very friendly.  I would definitely recommend people go here if they get a chance.

I've been a licensed nail technician for 12 years so I know what to look for when I try a new place. I keep an eye out for cleanliness as well as sanitary practice and Tatiana (Tati) is great.

My husband and I went for nail services before our honeymoon in Mexico and we both had the Spa pedicure & manicure which included a hot paraffin wax treatment. When you can hear your heels scratching on your sheets you best pick up the phone and make a call!

My toe & finger nails were trimmed and filed to my liking (soft square). I like that she asked me how I liked the shape to be and didn't just start filing like other places I had been before. She trimmed my cuticles, and chastised me as she should for biting the skin. I know better, but I can't resist. The whole procedure had me purring and by the time it came to polishing, I was putty in her hands.

I have been back to see her 5 -6 times over the course of two years. I've tried other places but they just can't seem to compare to her. She was quiet when we first met, but by my 2nd visit we were chatting away.

My husband liked his services as well, but he says no-one compares to me. awwwww."

Martin gives the most relaxing, theraputic massages in the city!  I highly recommend asking for Martin Stajkeck next time you are hurting and want to be treated like royalty.  Its so nice to be able to chill out in the lounge area after your massage and to take a hot shower and face the world again rested and relaxed!

I had the Morning of Relaxation combo:  massage, bath, facial, and mani-pedi.  The massage w/ the lavendar oil followed by the bath was pure heaven, and sooo relaxing.  You have to request male/female masseuse: being a girl I was pleased to get Karen.  Haven't had a lot of massages and don't like deep-tissue, but Karen was willing to work on specific trouble areas.  My facialist, Vanessa, was good technique-wise but didn't say a lot or make me feel that warm.  Very good facial massage and care of the pores.  When it came time for the manicure/pedicure, my technician was good at what she did but boy, every word that came out of her mouth was a negative statement and she made me feel less-than-pretty with remarks like "So, you're a low-maintenance girl".  Other than that the spa had a really good environment, I felt like a queen.

I returned to Michael -- purely by accident -- and he gave me an EQUALLY GOOD HAIRCUT. he remembered me and as we talked pieces of our conversation almost a year ago floated back. Michael suggesting I get a perm. Me admitting I was actually considering it. Michael explaining he was joking. Me explaining that I wasn't. Michael and I growing quiet as he dried my hair, and he said, "This is my favorite part. It's so relaxing." We both relaxed. Or maybe that was someone else. I have thick, wavy hair, and he did a great job giving it shape and considering my request for some bangs but building on a foundation of what he knew would look best. I'm going to cough up full price for him next time. I love Spacio.

My normal waxer was booked so I decided to make a last minute appointment here since a friend goes all the time. I wish I remembered the girls name so I could warn people. First of all I do feel bad because she was super nice but the result was HORRIBLE. She took 45 minutes for a simple bikini wax (I had gotten one 6 weeks before, not too much, but not too little to work with) I left there bleeding and was horribly uncomfortable for the next three weeks. I have never had a wax give me this type of trouble before. I feel like she was new at this by the amount of time she took and I paid the price =(

AMAZING FACIAL... The girl the did my facial, her name began with a K I believe, was great...I got the signature facial ($140) and it was the most relaxing thing in the world...very professional and detailed.  My skin feels amazing now, and it is very clear to begin with but it cleared up any imperfections that were there!  Another great bonus..they start with a 15-20 minute back massage...I can't wait to go back for a massage..

UPDATE: I also received a massage from Kristen this past weekend- Swedish massage for an hour--- HEAVEN ON EARTH!!! I would recommend Kristen to anyone :)

They have a great bonus, buy one service get another (from a list of about 4 options) for free.  I went for a spray tan and got a free haircut.  Not too shabby.  The spray tan was awesome.  They take their time and really listen to what you are looking for, and are willing and able to make it happen, from a slight glow to hard core brown.  It lasted a good 7 days for me.  I went Wednesday for an event I had on Friday, it was well worth it.

Wonderful spa! I have been going here for about a year, and have never really been disappointed. I see Sarah for my spray tan, and she does a  wonderful job in addition to doing contouring as well. The prices are reasonable as far as high end spas are concerned, and I think they really employ only the best facialists amd massage therpaists. They also carry wonderful, quality products such as decleor and Skin ceuticals. Very relaxing, and prompt, courteous service as well! GO! you will love it!

I had an hour-long Swedish massage here, about  a year ago, so I unfortunately do not have the name of the girl who did it (She was blonde, if that helps?!).  I received it as a gift and if it were not so expensive, I would definitely go back on a regular basis.  The spa is very relaxing- the changing room is modern and then you proceed to a "waiting" room- which has these yummy spa snacks- aka trail mix :)  The music wasn't as relaxing as it could be- it almost sounded like techno-y elevator music- so I wish that were different.  BUT the massage was out of this world!!  Definitely tops the spa at Mario Tricocci on Mich. Ave.  See review.
