I walked by this place, did a double-take, and informed my fellow Brooklyn stroller that I'd *just* be a minute. Turns out I stayed way longer than a minute, oohing and aahing at the selection of crafty items, displays, papers, and work areas. The young woman working was pretty and approachable--we ended up chatting for a few minutes and exchanging cards.
Beautiful interior, tasteful decor, friendly but not overbearing staff person. A wonderful experience--I want to go back! (Check out the photos I attached for a glimpse of the space.)

I went in here today looking for some poly-fill ... while they were out of what I was looking for, the store was super cute and the people were really nice. They gave me some hints as to what I could use instead and steered me to a fabric store that might have it, as well.
While the space is really cute and the stock seems good, it was the fact that the people working in the store were so friendly and nice that will keep me going back there. (And thanks to them for telling me about the fabric store - that place totally had what I needed and amazing prices on some really cute fabric)

So I went to the opening party for this wonderful store. I was the friend of the friend that knew the owners. I was very skeptical, I actually didn't know what to expect, I mean a craft store party!
The space was spacious and awesomely designed it reminded me of arts & crafts class in summer camp. All or most of the furniture/light fixtures were vintage/modern. There were little tables placed around the room for the little arts and crafters and a huge table toward the back.
This Place is a great place for everyone it seems.
Knitting
Beading
Print Making
Sculpting
They have it all they even sell crafting supplies and books for those of you that are closet crafters. This place also offers workshops/classes. I think this is the first one that I've seen of its kind, a brilliant idea.

History
Established in 2008
Spacecraft started out as an idea for a place for kids to do something creative and interactive. As we did more research on the crafting industry we realized how important craft was to all ages. We decided to create a place where anyone of any age and type can come in and find something fun to do. Even for free! We dreamt of being a part of the craft movement, of the neighborhood, of the community, and eventually a household name everywhere. We are on our way there. Please come join us.
Meet the Business Owner: Stella Metzner and Cristina Dodd o.
Stellagrew up in a family of artists and designers. She attended the Rudolf Steiner School for 15 years where she learned to sew, knit, crochet, sculpt, paint, book-bind, weave, and much more. She further developed her love of craft and hand-making objects when she attended the California College of Arts and Crafts. It was there that she learned to incorporate these childhood talents into fashion designs and later into a career as a stylist and designer.
Cristinalso began creating at an early age, learning traditional crafts like quilting and cross-stitch from her grandmother and making decoupage, macramé, leather crafts and more at summer camp. Cristina learned set-building and costume making in high school and went on to earn a degree in Photography. After spending several years as a custom black and white printer and freelance photographer, she moved into the realm of corporate event planning where she was able to successfully combine the use of both creative and business skills.
