I was tempted to give this place a 3, but it's got a few things going for it that i can't overlook:

1. accessibility. if youre out in hoboken, chances are youre out somewhere near the path. this place is a block away from the path, so it's a good choice if youre there already, or if youre on the way home.

2. hours. as with any diner, this place is open 24/7, so its good for the late night munchies as well as breakfast

3. speed.  if the place is not super packed, your food will come out fairly quickly. oftentimes we'll order an appetizer like fries or something and we'll just be starting them when the main food comes out.  service is noticeably quicker if you sit at the countertop instead of at the tables.

4. price. their prices have gone up a little recently, but you can still get a pretty filling meal for $6 or less.

the bad things -

well it's not the cleanest place in the world.. but it's not dirty either. just your typical hole in the wall diner

it can get very packed around 230 - 3am when the bars let out.. if youre going to come around this time you might as well either walk around for a bit, or just go to dunkin donuts instead.

they take cash only, although there is an atm on site, and at least 2 banks within a 1 block radius.

this isnt the best place in hoboken, but it hits the spot if youre hungry. 3.5 out of 5 (bumped up to a 4)

It's a diner. Expect no more and no less. The breakfast combination deals are great! Try the southwestern omelet, probably my favorite.

Kudos for being more accessible after a night of drinking than Malibu. Specifically, being right next to Scotland Yard. Hehe. Spent many a late night spent here devouring cheese fries with gravy (they're really good) after downing beers at the Yard!

I eat here mildly regularly, it's a nice place to get your greasy spoon diner food - from the home fries, buttered toast of three kinds, eggs, ham, bacon, omelettes, hamburgers, and more, it's been acceptable.

Only knocks - no lox for the bagels, no really fresh fruit for the pancakes/waffles, and no hash browns.

Pretty decent overall for a quick morning fix, or late-night breakfast, though!

My friend who took me here said "it's a good place if you dont care about friendly service" I was looking for cheap breakfast food so I said ok. The food was good and came out quickly, but the waitress was short with us and it was hard to get her attention. in her defense, she was over worked. we had to get up and ask for a check because we were sitting there forever. On the bright side it was only $24 for three decent meals.

Ate here on a Saturday morning and it is a small place, but the omelette I had was pretty good.  The hash on the side was good too.  The gyro platter (yes, I ordered two dishes) looked on the small side meat -wise, but had good flavor.  The white (Cucumber?) sauce was bland, but I'm not sure if that's the way it's supposed to be.  All in all, a solid diner experience, but nothing to write home about.

EWWW. DON'T EAT HERE! I once ordered a sandwich from them and there was a roach in it. Seriously. Then, a few months later I was at my salon and the girls there ordered lunch and one of them had a roach in her sandwich too. DISGUSTING.

I always say if a diner just stick to making plain old diner food without messing up your order it is worth the visit.  Spa does exactly that.  The menu and the food served is the typical platters from a diner.  The service is fast and the waitress is a darling so this diner is worth going to for a quick bite, especially if you work in the area.  Although there is a ton of places on Washington and around the boardwalk which trumps this place pretty easily.
