Annie rocks!! I got a facial with her at the last minute because my face was breaking out in odd places and I couldn't stand it anymore (my usual spot is Hiatus Spa but they were all booked for last minute). And oh my! The break out on my face looked a 120% better the next day--they were less noticeable and not inflaming. She took the 'seeds' out she said and it made a huge difference, my skin looks awesome and I couldn't be happier I made that last minute appt!! I could tell Annie knows her stuff and made a few suggestions to help me curb future break outs which I appreciated.

Agree with Valentina P - facial was just okay. Products were nice although quite expensive! I totally agree about the extractions. I wish there would have been much more and steam to open the pores. Also, I paid for a 50 minute facial and only got a 30 minute facial at best. I don't think I'd go back here.

One plus - everyone is super nice... which I think they should be anyway. Maybe that is the technique though to get you to purchase their products? Worked on me...

First time here. Went for a facial with a friend. Not great, not horrible, just ok.
The waiting area is indeed small and there was a line for the bathroom...not exactly the most relaxing situation.

I like that the products that they use is organic and contains no preservatives.
My facialist barely did any extractions which in my opinion is one of the main reasons people go for facials. Also, they do not place the steam in your face to open up the pores prior to extractions.
Basically she just applied one product after another and did a very light/quick massage.

Also, they heavily recommend products for you to buy which I find a little annoying. I ended up buying a $45 mask just to find it on Amazon for $35 including shipping.

I just had to update my (good!) previous review of this place.

I get a brazilian waxing done there by Annie and gave positive words towards her and the spa in general before.

Well let me change that -to AWESOME.

I've moved a couple hours from Dallas and tried two other spas for my brazilian waxings, hoping to find something closer that making that drive.

I'll be driving to Dallas for Annie to do it, next month.

After having others to really compare her work and the "feel" of the spa I have to really rave even more than I did before.

Annie is friendly, chatty but not too talkative, and Very good and thorough at her work while not making you feel awkward at all (which can be the case with so personal a service).  Comparatively, my other waxings left nearly everything to be desired... awkward, not well done, very painful.

The spa in general is very relaxing and polite compared to others I've attended, both here in Texas and in Germany.  I'm thinking of adding on a massage or facial when I make my next trip there.

In short, when dealing with others, I've decided Spa Habitat is worth driving 2.5 hours to get services from.

Fekking A, that felt fekking grrreat!

For my birthday I got a SpaFInder gift card (shout-out to LCF!), and decided to use it on Spa Habitat. I went on Leigh F's recommendation and got the herbal back therapy massage...and now I'm convinced that I'll need to budget for one per week here on out.

The atmosphere is warm, calm and inviting at Spa Habitat. They have low music playing to calm you down, and a comfy sitting area with fresh citrus water to sip while you wait.

My therapist was Sarah; she was so nice and when I shook her hand, I was all, "Damn! She's got soft hands!" She made me feel really comfortable and asked me throughout the massage how I was feeling (but not overly done, she did leave me in peace after all) and concentrated big time on a problem shoulder area I told her about.

Between the hot towels, scrub, deep massage and hot stones...I don't know what part was the best. It was all wonderful. It took me a while to get into it, but by the time she was done I didn't want the session to end! I took my time getting up and was a little woozy at first, but Sarah was waiting outside for me with a fresh cup of water. What a savior!

If you like massages, go. If you don't think you're a massage person, go. And if you've never had one before, go. Go now.

Now if I can only justify that $320 a month I'm going to spend for weekly therapies...

    I'm a spa snob. Self proclaimed. 100%.

I've been in some of the nicest snob in some of the biggest cities....some diamonds in the rough scattered in small towns....i'd say i have covered the spectrum of spa quality over the years. Spa Habitat blew me away. I thin I'm done looking for anything better in the Dallas area....I have found it.

It's located in a prime spot....which could actually work to it's disadvantage seeing as though a lot of people consider the West Village to be oober pretentious.....they are the one fresh of breath air amongst the bustle of uptown life. You feel immediatly welcome and calm as you walk in. My mom, sister and I all went for my mom's birthday. Once inside they got our names and called us back...where we sat in a relaxing waiting area, with a warm neck wrap on...sipping on refreshing cucumber water..chatting with other customers, making friends.....feeling completely at home. The little rooms they call you back to are so cozy and inviting. Each and every massage expert there talks to you like they have known you for years, and sincerely want to learn as much about you as possible so that they can give you exactly what you need on you visit.

I got the back therapy massage...it was amazing. My sister got a mud wrap and swears by it. For Christmas my  ex-boyfriend and I got his sister an "earth mama" massage....special for pregnant women. She got it down last week and was brought to tears she enjoyed it so much.

It will be a little pricier than a quicky massage at a place like massage envy, but you get a lot more with this bunch. If you want to treat yourself or a loved one to an afternoon of pampering, I do hope you'll try out the great staff at Spa Habitat. You'll be a lifer ;)

I've gone to Spa Habitat sporadically for several years, but I won't be going back due to the hit or miss quality of service.   A couple of weeks ago I had a great Green Peace massage, but my recent Herbal Back Therapy treatment was sub par.  I've had the service before and it has always included a herbal therapy pack on your back while other areas are being worked on.  In fact, the service description states this is to be included.  The massage is supposed to be a deep tissue massage, however, it was anything but that today.

Also, the massage is supposed to be 45 minutes but my service lasted 35 minutes.  This could be because I arrived late. Yet, I called in advance to see if the appointment could be pushed back since I knew I was running late.  I was told this was fine, but I wasn't told that my service would be short-changed as a result.  Knowing that information upfront would have helped me manage my expectations.

I really wanted to give it four stars.  Really wanted to.  Everyone was so friendly and the massage was fantastic.

The location is fantastic.  Who doesn't like West Village.  Lunch, Shopping, Massage...perfect day if you ask me.  I also think thats the downside because they are real limited on space.  When I go to a spa, I want to be able to relax and unwind and not worry about having to stare at the person sitting right across from me.

The hubby and I treated ourselves to a couples deep tissue massage.  When we arrived, they brought us to a small, small room with four recliners and four chairs directly across from the recliners.  Three of the recliners were already occupied with other spa goers in robes.  They told us to grab a seat and offered us some tea and water.  It was so awkward in there because you were either starring at the lady who was getting a foot massage, at the couple sitting directly across from us, at the ceiling or at the floor.  I kept waiting for them to go into the locker rooms to change into a robe, but that never happened.

They finally brought us to our room.  The massage was fantastic.  Both the therapist were able to feel out our trouble areas and spent most of the time massaging out the knots.  Definitely no weak hands like some other spas I've been too.

The hubby and I both agreed that we definitely would want to go back if they had a larger room to relax.  If you dont mind that, then I'd definitely book yourself an appointment here.

Every ounce of me wanted to enjoy this. Not just want it to be worth the money, but enjoy to the extent that it would become a habitual monthly or bi monthly outing and treat for my stressed, overworked body. Despite my wishes, it was anything but something I would want to do monthly, let alone bi monthly. To be honest, I wouldn't do it again even if it was free. My first impression of the place was mediocre at best. The welcome girl looked like she just got pulled out of a trash can. Dreads, terrible makeup, and I couldn't tell if that ganja smell was from her or the selection of overpriced organic goods that laid upon the table in front of us, neatly placed in rows so that way you have no trouble distinguishing between the all natural hand cream and organic wax sanitizers. It was as if this chick was a result Lil John and Ke$ha waking up next to each other feeling like P. Diddy, if you know what I mean.

It was my first time, so in all honesty I was not knowing what to expect. Reality was that I had this built up fantasy in my mind, more than likely fabricated from the Message Envy posters I see in their windows, of peace and relaxation. Ever since I was a child I associated "spa" and "massage" with "relaxation". My parents did a wonderful job raising me, so I know this doesn't stem from one of those childhood fibs such as Santa Clause. No sirree Bob. The only part of the one hour "message" that I enjoyed was taking my clothes off and lying on a table, under a towel butt naked. Really, it felt good. After that, reality set in.

A gentle knock on the door is heard, and the masseuse enters with a calming voice, setting the mood music that resonated through the tiny death chamber they put me in. Explaining to me to let her know if she should go deeper or softer with the message was calming to me, knowing that if I am uncomfortable she will adjust. I heard the squeeze of a moisturizer bottle and then the rubbing of the cream between her hands that reminded me of a baby farting in a bathtub. A brief chuckle inside, and then I feel her hands begin the message.

Ouch. It was DEEP. She dug her mammoth hands into the tops of my shoulders. Pushing harder and harder, seemingly waiting for me to scream out in agony.

"This is probably the worst of it",I thought to myself. There was no way that she does this for an hour. Boy was I wrong. After the second time she dug in, I thought it might be a good idea to implement the 3-strikes-you're-out policy. Tears began to swell in my eyes as I fought back the grunts that were a result of the agony I was enduring.

BAM! She pushes in again, making it feel as though Edward Scissorhands had picked up a new hobby. At least Johnny Depp was conscious that scissors replaced his fingers.

    "Alright", I told myself.

"One more time and I'm saying something". My lack of communication was in good heart. As a service professional myself, I assume that the service provider is doing what is in the client's best interest at all times and conscious of what is and is not working. Maybe I wasn't able to relax with jackhammers hammering into my shoulders. She did ask me if it was my first time, after all.

Low and behold, 10 seconds later I felt those claws do the impossible and dig even deeper into my shoulders.

"A little softer please", I pleaded. I would have begged if I wasn't already fighting back the nile river that was one more bad rub away from gushing out of my eye sockets. Honestly at that point, which could not have been more than 10 minutes into the 50 minute session, I would have been totally fine with paying the $200 and leaving. In fact, in retrospect I believe that would have been the best thing for everyone involved. The next 40 minutes where not much better. My neck and shoulders were so tender that every time her seemingly delicate fingers even brushed over my skin, a deep twinge of pain soared right down my spine and tickled my toes.I endured like a trooper, pretending as though I enjoyed the horrific experience.

Finally, she stops. The lights come in and she exits the room.

"Damn", I tell myself out loud. I hurriedly put my clothes back on, much less enthusiastic than I had taken them off. Most men would read that last sentence and agree that they have had THAT feeling before, but believe me you haven't. At least it was finally over.

My favorite part of the experience was the masseuse handing me a card with her name on it and a list of moisturizers and creams that they used during the pleasure fest. As if the message itself wasn't overpriced enough, don't worry- they have the same organic punishing cream that was used during the message for you to buy! I held on to the card, just to remind myself who not use, where not to go, and what not to buy.

All in all, I would never go there again. Recalling the only part I enjoyed, well, I can get naked and lay under a towel just about anywhere. In fact, I'll do that right now for free.

YESSSSS, just what I needed! I took my cousin here the day after her bachelorette party, and it was just what the doctor ordered after a long night of bar-hopping.

I'll try to break down my spa experience into the important aspects:

Waiting area: chilled, refreshing cucumber water, aromatherapy neck wrap. The waiting area is actually the ONLY thing that could be better about this place, and the reason it lost a star. Actually, I wish I could give it 4.5 stars, because it doesn't deserve to lose a whole one.  But oh well. The waiting room is just behind the cashier counter, so it is not as dark or quiet as I like my waiting areas. You don't get to go into a plush locker room to change into a comfy robe. The chairs are close together, so it feels like you are in a dark, fragrant dentist's office waiting room rather than a typical spa pre-treatment room. I know it's just a space issue, but still...I love to walk into my treatment already feeling deeply relaxed.  If anyone has been to the spa at the Stoneleigh, for example, you will know what I am talking about.  However, the quality of the actual treatments at Spa Habitat equals or exceeds that of the big, plush spas, in my opinion. So it's all good.

Treatment: I got the Herbal Back Therapy, and if I could get this treatment at least once a month, I would be a happier girl indeed! It starts with an exfoliating sugar scrub that really works - my back still feels baby smooth after 4 days. Next is a thorough application of a muslce-relaxing moisturizing balm that feels and smells wonderful. Then you get wrapped up! I would have loved to have seen this part, actually. It felt like my back got wrapped in plastic wrap or wax paper, then layered with hot towels, heated gel packs, and more hot towels. It was a coccoon of warmth, and I am pretty sure I went into a relaxation coma. While this treatment is soaking in, you get either a foot, scalp, or hand massage. Dean, my therapist (highly recommend him), gave me a great scalp massage. To cap off the 45-min treatment, you get a 20-min deep tissue massage. The muscle relaxing balm combined with firm but soothing massage really helped work the kinks out of my shoulder blades, neck, and back.

Price: I think this place is pretty reasonable. I mean, it's not cheap...but compared to the Crescent or the Stoneleigh, you get a lot for your money. My wonderful herbal back therapy lasted 45 minutes and only cost $80. Not bad!

Just a tip: now that you are thoroughly relaxed, take in the sights of West Village after your treatment. Starbucks is right next door, and there are tons of cute shops and restaurants nearby. A refreshing, healthy smoothie from Orange Cup completed my detox for the weekend!

HOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLY CRAP. Can we say ah-freakin-mazing? Best massages, great service, and just down the street from my house = awesomeness.

Ok, lets start from the beginning. I first went here at the end of July. I had the bar exam coming up the following Tuesday, and I had a 2 day stubborn migraine that just was not going away. Honestly, I was having tiny panic attacks because I couldnt study because of this god awful migraine and hellloooo I had the biggest exam of my life in 2 days and was not studying!! What's a girl to do??

Ok breathe....I am new to town, so since I know nothing about anything, I got on yelp and saw the reviews for SpaHabitat. I called at 11am. I got in for a 90 min massage at 2pm. Perfect. The girl who took down my appt was really nice, and even gave me directions on how to get there from my apt (which is umm..go down the street and then make a left. Yea for venturing out of the house). Yesssssss, I can feel my muscles relaxing already. I got there, and she sat me down in the back waiting room area, along with a hot cup of chamomile tea. You have the option of various teas or a glass of fresh citrus water. Normally, I would have opted for the water since its scorching outside, but the tea helps with headaches. Tea it was...and it was wonderful :) Next, I was offered a warm shoulder pad and it really allowed for my neck and shoulder and even upper back muscles to loosen up.  Then, I was asked to head on back to the massage room. And then I was in heaven....

I told my massage therapist about my migraine and she concentrated on my pressure areas. It was perfect. During the massage I was deep in my own world, and the balms really helped and soothed my pain. It was just what I had needed--it was calming, detached (even though you are in West Village), and refreshing.

Service was great, atmosphere is good (it can get a lil cramped in the waiting area), but overall was an excellent experience.

Spa Habitat is a little nook of calm in the craziness of West Village. I started coming here when I found out Cemetria "hands of magic" started working here. Besides being smart and fortunate enough to have the best massage therapist around on staff, Spa Habitat has many inviting features. Yes, it is small and pricey but worth it. I love the re-used wood floors and that everything is organic. I love that it feels down to earth rather than snooty. I feel comfortable here, which is the whole point of a spa!

ooooooh maaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhh gaaaaaad, can I just live here please? I will work for free just give me free services and an endless amount of products and I will be set for the rest of my life.

Seriously though this place was exactly what I needed. I made an appointment with Annie for a signature organic facial a few weeks ago and it was just divine. Before doing anything I was asked to fill out some paperwork about my skin, the products I use, how often I use them, etc (shout out to the cutie sitting across the room!). From the moment I stepped behind the curtains I was instantly at ease. The lights were dimmed, nature like music was playing in the background lightly and I just sank in their comfy chairs. Before I knew it Annie was introducing herself and taking me into our room. She asked me to take off all my accessories, turn off my cell phone and to undress. I slipped into a super soft wrap and hopped into bed. Not only was my facial incredibly hydrating but it came with a hot stone massage on the face, arms and hands PLUS a foot treatment. I was feeling so fabulous that I knocked out, fell into a deep sleep and dreamed of falling so I shook so hard I woke myself up and scared Annie a bit. She was really nice about it and we just laughed. When Annie started massaging my shoulders and arms I literally wanted to melt, this was definitely the perfect way to finish the facial.

When we were done, Annie and I talked about my skin and she recommended some products that would really help keep my skin from drying. By the time I dressed and went to the front to pay, the products were there for me to look at with a nice glass of water and Annie's business card. This woman is FABULOUS! The products work great for my skin but they definitely weren't cheap. I got the facial, face wash and an exfoliation kit for a grand total of $256! Yikes! For a cheapo like me this was definitely worth doing at least once a year and I totally feel like I got my money's worth. I'll be back Spa Habitat!

I love this place.  I've had both massage and esthetician services here and I'll never go anywhere else.  Dana Fink is a genius with my eyebrows - SO good at what she does.  The organic products are heavenly.  My terra firma massage was one of the best massage experiences I've had in Dallas.  I like the way the therapists incorporate aromatherapy into the massage and utilize hot packs and stones.  It's a more involved process and worth every penny.

I got a gift certificate here, and so my girlfriend and I went to check it out.  The appointment ran a little late, but other than that, everything was perfect.  The atmosphere was really calming.  They'll serve you herbal tea as you sit in big comfy chairs with warm lavender neck pillows filling out a health questionnaire.   The masseuses were very professional, attentive, and knowledgeable.  I think  my masseuse was named Jenny, and she was really great.  The best part about it is they have the most amazing smelling organic oils and lotions they use.  You'll automatically get an aromatherapy treatment with your massage.  And the masseuses definitely tailor the experience to your health needs; I'm pregnant and my friend had some back issues, and we both got very different messages suited to our needs (she got hot stones and I got a lot of attention to my head and scalp because of my pregnancy headaches).  The only downside is the place is a little pricey, but it just might be worth it!
