2 reviews for Spa East
I've been to Spa East twice, and both times I've been very happy with my services. I found out about S.E. from a friend of mine who had a Minx manicure done. I'd been wanting to try Minx for a while, and I was watching RHOA (Real Housewives of Atlanta...Go Nene!) one night and they were having it done. I made a mental note to call S.E. the next day to set up an appointment. When I called, I made sure to make my appointment with Shabela, the Minx specialist.
Now about the appointment. *Parking was a little difficult to find, but I finally found a space about a block away. This spa is adorable! It's beautifully decorated, and it just generally very relaxing. Shabela came to the waiting area to meet me, and she brought out the book of available designs. I'd wanted the gold metallic, but they were all out, so Shabela made a few suggestions. You know how it is when you have your mind set on one thing, and when it's unavailable, you can't really decide on anything else? Well, that's kind of how it was. At Shabela's urging, I got the black and white houndstooth design and I loved it! The manicure itself was great, there are little marbles in the bottom of the bowl, so you can play while your nails soak (I'm a big kid). Would you believe I'd never had my cuticles pushed back? I know...I know, especially since I have short nail beds. Because of said short nail beds, I have a hard time finding people who can shape my nails the way I like them...kinda squared, kinda rounded. Shabela did a great job! And she's so friendly! The entire Minx process took about an hour and it lasted two weeks. It was kinda pricy, but considering how intricate the design is, to have it done by hand would probably cost at least $50, and it probably would not last two weeks.
Because I was so impressed with the way Shabela shaped my nails, I decided to go back for a regular manicure. The regular manicure was great too, and it lasted a week (which is normal for my manicures), even after cleaning my bathroom (with gloves, of course). I was so impressed that before I left, I made an appointment for the next Saturday.
If you can't tell from other reviews, I'm a loyal customer. If I find a stylist/technician who can do my hair, nails, etc., the way I like, I'll keep going back, and I'll refer friends. That's how I feel about Spa East and Shabela. Because it's a spa it's so relaxing, and you get superb service, for a great price!
*There's a free parking lot on N. 2nd St., before you get to the salon. Shabela told me about it the last time I was there, so when I go for my next appointment (today), I won't have to look for parking...yay!
After walking a long one-hour trek down N 2nd St., I was beat. My feet were achy, and black from all the smudge picked up while beating down the path to Art Star gallery in my Puma flip flops.
I walked in and was immediately greeted by Sam. I looked over their "menu" and decided on the Citrus & Honey Spa Pedicure.
Once my water was drawn, I was led to the back, where I repeatedly apologized for the condition of my feet. Sam paid the funky feet no-mind and gave me one of the best pedicures/massages on my legs I have ever had.
I floated out there, feet re-energized back up, and walked down to my Art Star expo, without a pain or ache in the world.
One downside: You can't put a tip on the credit card. You have to do "cash only" for the gratuities.
