Spa City Cupcakes are located on the lower part of the Downstreet Marketplace..which is located on Broadway. The cupcakes are a nice size and fairly priced A nice selection of cupcakes here and everything is made right in the store. I'm not a frosting person but I must say, I liked their frosting. It wasn't overly sweet like most frostings, which is why I tend to not like frosting. The cupcakes themselves have good flavor but mine were a bit dry. Not sure if it was just a fluke but I've heard other people say the same thing. But, they are pretty brand new and I'm sure they are still trying to adjust and get settled. But still..I liked the cupcakes.
I'd definitely go back again and I would definitely recommend Spa City Cupcakes to anyone who likes cupcakes. Unless you don't like cupcakes. Which would you mean you are probably a terrorist.

I sure was excited to read about Spa City Cupcakes' opening on the All Over Albany blog. Saratoga is probably the only small city in Upstate that can support a specialty cupcake shop like this, so I was looking forward to it. We had chocolate peanut butter and "Driving Me Coconuts" cupcakes. The actual cake is nothing special. The chocolate had a decidedly dry cocoa powder-taste to it. But really, as with all cupcakes, the cake is just a frosting-delivery system, and the frosting does not disappoint. These things were so top-heavy with frosting, it was a challenge to keep them upright. Both flavors were absolutely tasty. I was expecting them to cost around $4 each, on par with NYC cupcake prices, but they were only $2.50! A steal. Next time I'm at the track, I'll be back for more.
I just want to make a small adjustment to my review .
After some careful consideration , and another cupcake days after I wrote this , I decided 2 things . I still feel as though some of the cupcakes could be cleaned up - but The flavor is great .
The peanut butter frosting is to die for and my fav the White cupcake with White icing , nearly 4 days later was actually better than I remembered on the first day .
Definately Try this place out , make your own assumption , quite frankly - it is a throw back to my childhood --- and might be a highlight of children today who generally only get box cake at best.

The calls have been answered. Saratoga Springs finally has a cute little cupcake shop that tops most places in Manhattan. The cupcakes are hefty, the cake not overly sweet like Magnolia's, the icing plentiful and flavorful, unlike the processed stuff that they deem icing at the Crumbs chain. Unlike the Crumbs factory, Spa City Cupcakes makes all of it's own products, and they do it with a small number of employees! The homemade cupcake that you'll walk away with, lacks in no area, and certainly not in personality.
The shop itself is a bit small and reminds you of your family kitchen, and the tables and chairs outside add seating and charm. For a small business created and manned by a pregnant woman, bravo! Let's see more small businesses like this in Saratoga!

Spa City Cupcakes has a beautiful shop in the lower part of the Downstreet Marketplace. The shop boasts a vast selection of cupcakes, each of which are beautifully decorated and displayed. The owner spends time talking with each customer about the selection of cupcakes and describes the fresh ingredients used.
I took a selection to my boyfriend's family reunion and they all received rave reviews. The family was particularly impressed with how beautiful all of the cupcakes look and the wide selection offered. Then the entire family also raved about how each of them tasted.
I tried the banana cupcake with peanut butter frosting and it was wonderful. I usually shy away from peanut butter frosting as it is usually too sweet, but this was just right, not too much sugar and just enough peanut butter flavor to perfectly complement the cupcakes.
Spa City Cupcakes is a charming shop with wonderful baked goods. Definitely worth trying out.
