Considering the size of this place, it offers great - speedy service, not crowded, the shops are great, the restaurants are good too.

For an international airport this place surprised me.

It's small.
It's got two Starbucksseseseses. and a Dunkin.
Easy to navigate.
Lines are short.
TSA people are friendly.
Takes about 2 minutes to walk from any given gate to the baggage claim.
Baggage is there almost immediately.
Rental car places are right across the street.
Easy peasy.

I like flying into this airport because you fly over all of the little islands and everything is so pretty. I like flying out of this airport because it's small enough to rarely have any sort of wait for security or anything like that.

The airport is fairly new so it's pretty clean and efficient. Probably my favorite thing though is that on a recent flight that left at 6 am (yuck) there was still things open at 5 so I could get a water and a coffee after going through security, since you can't take them through any more. I always hate when airports don't have at least one shop open when flights are coming and going. It's just poor business.

Much better than bigger airports.  Not my favorite of all the small airports I've been to, but nice.  Lines medium.  Baggage claims easy.

This airport rocks. I have never had to wait...for anything. Efficient, clean, easy to get around in and beautiful. It's basically new and they thought of everything. Best there is!!!!

SW Florida's International Airport is one of the most beautiful, efficient and friendly airports that I have ever been in in my life (Only Maui and Honolulu would be comparable). The best thing about SWFIA is just like it is in Hawaii, the instant heat, humidity and tropical smell when you walk off of the plane into the Floridian climate. You instantly get happy and relaxed. All is right in the world.

Having just been built, SWFIA is spotless and gorgeous with marble-type white floors and because one of my homes has pink/white marble floors I get that at-home elegance from the get-go. It's the mainland's maui as far as I am concerned. Plus, the baggage comes right out for you, no waiting and the cabs/limos are located very close to where you get your bags so you can be loaded up and out within a few minutes. Always call ahead and get a limo waiting. It's much nicer than a cab and the price is reasonable ($35.00 plus a $10.00 tip). Drivers with nice smiles and who wouldn't smile if you got to live in a Caribbean world all of the time. I love the Caribbean lifestyle and attitude, laid-back, friendly-bra, easy-going, calm. You just sit back in the seat, take a deep breath and leave the driving to someone else. Remind him to look out for the panther crossing and the Florida turtles. Gotta keep the native wildlife alive.

SWFIA was built to pre-date the hoped for population boom of Ft Myers/Bonita Springs/Naples/Cape Coral but with the recent downturn it is not operating at near full capacity so maybe that is why I love this place so much. It's unique unto itself.

I went here to visit my friend's wedding in Naples. This airport was easy to get out of and easy to check into upon return. We made it through security very fast with no one in front of us (maybe 1 or 2, nothing bad i remember). the shops were clean and everything was well labeled. no complaints very easy for visiting Southwest Florida.

The airport itself is fine.  It's standard, got standard gates, standard everything.  I'm not reviewing that shit.  I'm reviewing this one "deli" place that I believe was at D gate.

My pet peeve has always been poor service.  So I nearly flipped my shit at this place.

The servers never look the customer directly in the eye, or even acknowledge their presence unless the customer loudly projects his voice directly at the female and says "ARE YOU TALKING TO ME?".  Asking a question will probably be either waved off, or rewarded with a shrug.  The making of the sandwich took a bit of time.  You don't order directly thru the cashier, you use a touch screen menu.  You do, however, PAY directly thru the cashier.  The cashier is clearly too busy talking about boys with her friend behind the counter.  No obligatory "have a nice day" or "sir" or "thanks".  No notice that your sandwich has been made.  No way I'm giving this place more than one star.

This place sucks and it's dragging SFI Airport down with it.

Venting done.

EDIT: after some brief research, I believe the actual establishment is the "Palm City Market", located in Concourse D.  Nuff Said~

The old airport was awful.  It was small, all one level for departures & arrival (which is fine if you have 3 flights a day, but that just wasn't working anymore).  I just looked at the website and it supposedly ranks among the 50 busiest airports in the country.  I'm guessing it's #50.

The new terminal is beautiful.  It's all gleaming white and clean and new and pretty.  It's pretty easy to navigate, and they've got some cool looking food-type places.

The old terminal took something like 30-40 minutes to get your bags out, and this one, they come out really quick.  Granted, I was probably on the last flight into the airport of the day but at least my flight wasn't 16 miles away where they had to walk with it, to get it there, and all that stuff.  In other words it's significantly faster.

The old terminal is being debated: offices, demolition, international terminal, but who knows what they'll decide.  It's been over 2 years, and they still don't know.

One of the best smaller airports I have experienced (as compared to my larger, hometown airports JFK/LaGuardia).  As I write this, I am sitting in Concourse D, waiting board a Jetblue flight back to NY's JFK.  This is probably my 5th or 6th time using this airport, and so far, not a hitch.  EVerything has always run smoothly, everything is always clean, and entire operation runs like a well-oiled machine.  TSA folks here are courteous and helpful - some of the female ones even look good in that retchid blue uniform shirt.

It's hard to believe there have been 3 different terminals for airports in Fort Myers in 25 years, but not so hard to believe because the population and tourism base have grown so much.  The new RSW is an obvious upgrade over the old one next door....it's more spacious and easier to get around.  Flying in from the west is a sight to behold...you can see Sanibel, FM Beach and the sight is so cool at night.  I had to take a taxi to my mom and dad's place (they were back home) and it's usually $40 a person to my area near FM Beach, but because I got into a cab with 3 other people going that way it was only $30 per plus tip.  The driver Christmas night was from around Boston and was very funny, unlike the other drivers I've had there.  Coming back I dropped off my dad's car at the long term car park (he was coming down a few days later) and when you drive in you're led to your parking spot and immediately picked up by a shuttle driver who takes you to your gate.  That is very classy.  It's $10 a day at long term...very reasonable.  Baggage claim took less time than at IND or LAS.  Security was good....a bit of a line but it moved quick...quicker than check in for flight out.  Not as much a selection of food than larger airports...but just as expensive ($2.39 for a bottle of water and food was marked up more than outside airport).  I stayed longer than I wanted on way home because of 90-min flight delay (not airport's fault).   Nice and perfect size SW FL for market.

RSW is a very nice airport (the name RSW comes from when it was known as Southwest Florida Regional Airport).  I've been flying here for almost every year since the old terminal opened in 1983 (the year the airport moved here from Page Field), and this year my wife and I had the opportunity to fly into the new mid-field terminal (actually it's now the only terminal in use, they're going to demolish the old one).  While the old terminal was ok, it was a bit crowded at times, very blah looking, and the baggage claim was very slow.  The new terminal, on the other hand, is very nicely designed with a very logical and spacious layout, and is very attractive.  Flying in and out of here is a breeze and I was really impressed with the improvements over the old terminal (including the speedy baggage claim).  The only negative things that I can think of to say is that the printing on the signs listing the airlines at the departure drop-off curb are way too small (especially when you consider the older than average age of the local residents), and that like so many things in Leigh County this airport was an almost complete waste of money that makes me glad that I don't live and pay taxes there.  Sure, the old terminal was a little bit outgrown, but to completely replace and demolish it instead of just expanding it is ridiculous.
