2 reviews for Southern Comfort Bed & Breakfast
The Good:
:: the location. it's in the garden district and is only a block and a half away from the st charles streetcar stop
:: it's only a block away from st charles street, a major thoroughfare through new orleans
:: cyndee the owner. she is a very sweet woman and was very accomodating to our late arrival and late checkout needs. she was also very informative and a great resource
:: the place was kept up well. our room was very clean and cozy. the bathroom was clean and had very cute fixtures. no problems with any appliances, fixtures, lights, appliances, etc.
:: very comfortable bed, pillows, and linens
:: ceiling fan was very powerful and kept the room very cool
:: cute courtyard with a cute pond
:: cute swing on the porch, southern-style
:: didn't smell like cat pee like some bed-and-breakfast places can smell. bonus!
The Bad:
:: breakfast was good but was hoping for more options. maybe if she could change it so that she took our breakfast orders the night before so she knew what to make, instead of the same thing for everyone?
:: main area of the house was a little warm at times but since it wasn't occupied much at all, this wasn't a big deal since we didn't spend much time in those areas
The Ugly:
:: none.
Would I go back? Sure! This is a bed-and-breakfast that is a great choice if you are looking for a no-frills, cozy, basic arrangement with a very pleasant, accomodating owner.
This place is IN.
I wouldn't change a thing.
We arrived dirty and sweaty from two days in the hot sun, working as volunteer house builders. Cyndee, the owner, greeted us on the porch and offered us a glass of wine. She gave us just as much information as we wanted to know about what to do and see, and our experiences lived up to her recommendations. The house was immaculate and the rooms well kept. Aesthetically, the rooms were classy without being pretentious and the breakfast was superb. The house is stately, yet welcoming, and you feel free to walk around, put your leftovers in the fridge, or help yourself to a cold drink with an honor-system contribution. Located in a very nice neighborhood with ample parking, yet only 2 blocks from the Charles Ave trolley.
