Austin's SEMP, the southeastern version of Travis County's metro parks, is very similar to the Pflugerville-based NEMP, but with a bit more appeal.

Jump on I-35 southbound, connect to 71 and pass the airport to reach this open field park that mainly caters to soccer and baseball teams. There is a nice restroom facility, a playground, and a 2-mile concrete trail. If you're looking for real park atmosphere, Zilker or even Town Lake have much more to offer, but SEMP serves its purpose.

The fields are even and have fewer holes than SEMP's northern sister, NEMP. The park catches the sun, which is great for cool, windy days, but you'll find zero shade for your car or your dog. Easy to spot from the highway, plenty of parking, but this is not a great mixed-use facility and the County can certainly do better.

Worth a visit...if you're participating in or supporting an amateur sports team. Otherwise, head elsewhere.
